    Thinking about Clairsonic makes me wonder how on earth Beauty Blender is still in business. Who wants to spend $20-$40 for a sponge!?

    • @whippetgood
      @whippetgood 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Omg I had that same thought! Though I do actually still buy beauty blenders and though I had a Clarisonic at some point I stopped using it years ago.

      Probably due to insanely big Profit margins. I assume it costs next to nothing to produce a sponge in the shape of an egg. And its something people buy over and over again, even of only once or twice a year.

    • @denia1594
      @denia1594 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      But the question is: Why do people buy beauty blender and not a cheaper sponge? There are so many around nowadays. @@katl5357

    I've been a long time "quiet consumer" of Beauty News and never comment! But i have some thoughts I felt deserved a one:
    1) YES! I would LOVE alllll the deep dives on all the old school beauty brand controversies (lime crime, KVD, Morphe, etc.) I think that series would be FASCINATING and an actually a fun throwback.
    2) So confused about how the following brands are surviving: beauty blender (when they're SO MANY quality more affordable options), JSC (obvious reasons), Pacifica, Melt, Kaja, and are Dose of Colors still around??

    • @jjusttlistenn
      @jjusttlistenn 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Kaja is popular in the Asian market, which is probably how it's still around. I actually quite enjoy Pacifica's skincare products like their under eye masks, but I don't think they survive on that. But like they said, the majority of customers aren't in the beauty space like we are.

      I just commented apart, but I think one brand that won't last long might be Too Faced? The mascara, lip liners are my favorite, love them, but everything they've been releasing these past years mmm...the same eyeshadows in different packaging over and over again, those new lip oils are bad, nothing exciting...
      What do you think?

    I won't be surprised when Urban Decay closes down or at least pulls out of Europe, 3 years ago here in Spain they shut down both their local website and their one boutique to then try to stay afloat by starting to have TINY counters in many different beauty retailers that heavily discount their prices simply because their products are too overpriced and expensive for the average spanish consumer, not something you would expect fron a thriving prestige brand only sold in Sephora and expensive department stores🤔

I know I'm not saying anything you already don't know, but I went to Japan and Taiwan and late 2022 and there were Estee Lauder (ergo MAC by extension) stores EVERYWHERE. I also just want to bring up that you two had a discussion about MAC and cruelty free beauty in the Chinese market on Beauty News a long long time ago, and I appreciate how nuanced and deep the discussion was. Sure MAC might not be the talk of the town with younger folks on Tiktok but their Asian market is massive. They're not going anywhere.

The majority of people who wear makeup don't want some new innovation or exciting thing every month, they want products that perform, they trust and have the right shades. I am for sure one of those "quiet consumers" who doesn't want to constantly product-hop once I find something I like. I was a bit worried about MAC for awhile, not from a beauty community buzz standpoint but because a bunch of their lipstick formulas went into clearance mode (discounts and limited colors) at the same time without outright stating that. I didn't think they were going under per se, but were pivoting away from that type of product entirely. Then it turned out they were slowly introducing upgraded formulas. I liked MACximal a lot after the relaunch and made it my new go-to, but it was still disconcerting for a year or so to run out of a favorite color in one formula, find a new favorite in another, then find out that is now getting phased out every time I visited their site. Some strategically placed hype that something new was on the horizon would have gone a long way, even if it wasn't a full-out influencer campaign.

      We didn’t realise they were anti-choice. Thanks for letting us know!

      Considering they are based in Louisiana, it's not surprising

    Maybe it's different in Australia, but Glowish is still widely available here in the UK. I'm not sure there's been any official announcement about incorporating some of the products, but it would make sense to as the primer for example is one of their bestsellers.

    Re: beach Tints-- there's no cure for being ahead of your time. As for Bite, I think they made a mistake discontinuing the multi-sticks-- they should have expanded that line. I miss the lip mask so much, too.

    Great video ladies, thank you for sharing all the information. It has been harder the last couple years to be a truly independent brand, the choice is quality vs. quantity when purchasing. Thank you for always keeping us informed and engaged ✨ Glitter On!

    🎀I did not realise that so many had closed down. That’s really sad. I think that because Make Up Revolution imitate many other brands and have. Many other brands under them like Revolution Pro, and many others. They might survive this.🎀

    I had forgotten about Laura Lee and Dominique Cosmetics! I'm going to addthe following brands to the going away party: Uoma Beauty, Mented, Flower Beauty and (because they are boring) Urban Decay.

      I feel like UD and Flower also have a quiet consumer base- Flower definitely gets help from CVS sales…

    Lime Crime makes a lipliner called Platform that is my ride or die! Also: I will die trying to find a dupe for Berlin Girl and I owned 4 tubes of Bite's Nori lipstick and all the coffee glosses.

    I know they’re not closing (yet), but I STILL cannot figure out how Benefit is still around, as little as they seem to produce or change. Is it me? They just have seemed so stuck for so long. Tarte’s still stuck too, they’ve needed a huge nudge for SO long.

    There's 650,000 beauty brands today. Most of them aren't going to make it. Every Instagrammer, celebrity, influencer, etc etc etc has a beauty brand or skin care line now. The market is simply glutted, and this is a normal market correction. Fifteen runners start the race, only three end up on the medals stand.

    I’m surprised urban decay is still around. I like their setting spray, but when was the last time anyone raved about their naked palettes?!

    Ooh I forgot, what about Zoeva? I've seen them discounted and out of stock almost everywhere! I live in Spain btw, I don't know how they're doing in other countries

    I'm surprised you didn't mention the body shop. I heard that the UK and US branches went into administration, the Australian one is the only one that's still profitable.
