Another issue with MAC: a lot of their interesting looking collections are Asia or region exclusive. They release these really cool looking collections overseas only, then they give the whole world the Sims collab.
I'm in Canada and we get a lot of the Asian exclusive collections, I'm so bummed that the kakao friends lipsticks sold out before I could get any but I'm looking forward to the new collection, the eyeshadow palette looks like it could be good.
@@ericadubach1974 I'm honestly surprised Australia doesn't get Asian exclusive releases since the proximity is so close, it seems far more feasible to do and would get them more sales.
The thing I get frustrated with Colour Pop is they clearly have the capacity to create makeup quickly but their core range is never in stock, like their foundations, powders, single colour gel eyeliners etc. Some of this stuff is really really good for the price but I can never re-purchase any of those products.
For me it's the inconsistent quality. Seems like every palette I want ends up being the not so great formula; everything I'm not into is the banger formula.
Yes!! Whenever there is a palette I’m interested in anything else I want is out of stock. I’m never going to place an order for one item. Especially with international shipping. The highlighter I like from them has been out of stock for months and months. They’ve discontinued the lipstick and lipgloss colours I like. Meh 😒
Yes! I from denmark, so it’s expensive to order anything form Colourpop so i`d like get everything at once, but never seems to be in Stock at the same time with anything from their core range 😞😠
I was waiting for them to say this, I get soooo annoyed when all there stuff is out of stock. At least keep your core products around if your going to drop 10000 things a day.
I was big into MAC until they dropped their prices in the US, but not in Europe. The eyeshadow pan is $9 in the US but 13.50€ in France (about $16.50). That truly pissed me off and I stopped buying from them.
I know. It’s the same here in Saudi Arabia and it piss me off because i know that it’s not worth the price. Because they’re still making profit in the us.
In France (or in Europe) makeup prices tend to be higher anyway because the taxes are higher. So they might be playing on that to keep the prices high with people being okay still buying ? Idk.
@@saulemaroussault6343 Taxes or shipping can account for some of the difference but here, you have an 80% increase. VAT is 20% in France for instance. But cosmetics do tend be more expensive in Europe since we have less options, brands feel they can charge higher prices. Even French brands (some made in Europe) are less expensive in the US since the market is more competitive. The latest Chanel lipstick Coco Bloom is $40 in the US but around $51 in Europe if you convert the euro price of 42€. Bottomline is, when you go to the US, stock up on cosmetics! :D
Haven't started watching yet but just want to say I love these chit chat podcast style videos, they're so relaxing after work and I feel like I'm having a conversation with you
am i the only one who thinks the orgasm horse is still relatively alive 😂 (although would love to see nars expand the lines of the other most popular blush shades such as deep throat)
Just turned 53 and sitting here putting on my smokey green and gold eyes ! I hope I never give up on having fun with makeup! Getting old does not mean boring and I hope other ladies over 50 keep on doing what makes them happy with makeup and not conform to what society thinks is right for them.
I completely agree. I am neither conservative nor boring in my cosmetics choices, and I'm in my 60s! We are living longer now, have all the money, and being relegated to the boring heap is so outdated and rather offensive imo.
I'm so happy that it's become more universally accepted for everyone to wear more color, whether that's clothing or make-up! Growing up it felt like after high school neutral was the way to go for everything 😑
You go girl...um ma'am. It makes me happy seeing older women embracing fashion and makeup and whatever makes them happy. It makes me happy inside wishing I would be fun enough to be that way when I'm that age.
🤣I got so much shit on Urban Decays Facebook page for saying that they “Urban Decayed” the Prince collection. Their formula is stuck on 2005 and they still charge high end prices when drugstore brands out perform their muted shadows.
@@montana1080 Wet n Wilds formula is better than this agreed. I’ve got a nostalgic palette from Urban Decay from around 2006 or earlier- The Deluxe Shadow box (purple velvet with the chain Mail front) and I swatched it a few days ago and it swatched RIDICULOUSLY WELL even a 15+ year old palette has better pigmentation and bolder colours than their recent releases
@@Katie_Woo yess! I have old UD shadow palettes too I still use on ocassion that are still really good. I don’t know what happened but something happened. If they are in the same lab as NYX even NYX eyeshadows are better I don’t know what’s going on.
@@montana1080 I still use my volume 2 book of shadows and the I ❤️NYC palette from urban decay and the shimmers work as well as the day I got them and I’m stumped at what they did with that formula. Bite Beauty is a big one for me. They used to be my favorite lipstick brand, but they began reformulating and kept pushing back their lipsticks for other products which were just boring. Now I see they released a new collection, but they are charging $35USD for one lipstick? It's just crazy considering their formula tends to go bad quickly. Just disappointing.
@@LieseAkerlund Right? Their brand was perfect before. Why mess with such a good thing? Oh well, I will try the new formula when it goes on sale for 50%, which seems to happen quite a bit these days.
I adored Bite until I found out that part of their natural fragrance blend was mango. I'm allergic to mangos and reached out to them through email and instagram to ask if there's actual mango in it, because it was making my lips peel and I had never even considered that. They never responded and I never bought from them again.
@@moonbounce17 Sorry to hear that! That's just bad form on their part, but sadly, I'm not surprised. They haven't listened to their fan base for a while.
I used to absolutely adore UD and thought the brand was unique/different to the brands that were around when I was a teen (early 2000s) over the years the brand has changed so much to basic/generic themes.
Same- as a colourful make-up lover in 2000 they were my favourite brand but when they became obsessed with nude palettes I lost interest. They are in every department store on the UK high street though so I suspect they sell well to people who don't buy make-up online.
In regards to brands shutting down in September - many businesses in the US complete their fiscal year at the end of September. I suspect that explains quite a bit of the timing.
It’s the price with Mac for me. I go in the Mac store in Bath when I’m there as a treat and I just can’t get anything for £100 Which I know can be said of many brands but lots of brands have over taken Mac on quality and packaging and formulas etc 🤷♀️
Thank you for this super eye-opening video! One brand I feel is in danger of going into self destruct mode is Pat McGrath - there has been a lot of inconsistency in the quality of her latest eyeshadow releases - the latest quad has 2 shades (half the quad) that are super crumbly, prone to major glitter fallout and consequently difficult to apply - and there have been a lot of quality issues and inconsistencies in the last 2 years; furthermore, there have been issues with shipping and basic customer service. Granted she just released a nice collection of 9 blushes but she is best known for eyeshadows - and since releasing the divine rose 2 mothership, every eyeshadow quad or palette seems to have been more of a cash grab than the product of artistic inspiration - one more hint that Pat McGrath may be resting on her laurels is that she does not send PR products prior to new product launches - an indication that quality issues may be brought to light. Currently, her fans still give her the benefit of the doubt and jump on every new launch but the honeymoon period will end when those fans realize they are just being used.
My first expensive makeup purchase was a pat mcgrath lipstick. I wanted it so bad. It came all discolored, but I wiped the discolored parts off to try to salvage my $38 dollar investment. I used it maybe 5 times and found there were sharp metal shards embedded in the lipstick. My heart was crushed. I’ll never buy one of her products again because of that incident. It was so strange because it happened around lipstick gate time
I would also like to point out the non environment friendly packaging. Lipsticks trios are neary immersed in sequins. Also the products are usually photographed that way.
Pat McGrath: I bought one expensive palette. It's lovely, and not worth the price. Won't buy from her again. I get that quality from indie makeup and pay half.
I still enjoy Mac. I was so relieved they didn’t reformulate Face & Body Foundation. I like their lip products and blushes. I think it has become trendy to dunk on them and they never mastered large eye shadow palettes which have been the trend for years. I think they will survive because they have many products that people repurchase.
One thing about MAC, we get the underground items and quite a few regional exclusive collections in Canada as well (ie Asian exclusives), I've always liked that they do that for their Canadian customers and they're respectful to us as a Canadian brand. There are still a couple things that we don't get but for the most part we have access to a lot, if they'd make things more easily accessible all over (instead of just regional) I think they might do better.
Can’t wait for the new collection honestly it’s the first Mac collection I’ve though I’m interested in awhile And I like the recycling program of the lipsticks
The stores I’ve been in in the large Canadian cities typically have very high quality makeup artists working there, they represent the brand well and know how to sell their products. I think their reputation is still really good in Canada because they treat their customers well here.
@@genericname5525 I do know that even the Canadian stores were having a bit of a customer service problem with how the stores are laid out - because of how you cannot grab your own product and they have to get it for you and some people felt like they were pressured into purchasing something they didn’t want or not getting the thing they wanted . But they must’ve done something because I have noticed in the past couple of years the reps have been way more friendly and easy going
@@anne5182 from what I've heard (and it's second hand information so it may not be fully accurate) MAC overhauled their training and hiring process over the past few years so maybe that's why it's been improving? And I completely understand the need to do so since they had built up a reputation for having the rudest customer service anywhere in the country. All the locations near me have improved a lot except one, I went with my mom just before the pandemic and the girl helping me completely ignored my mom and wouldn't even respond to her questions (we won't go back there)- BUT when we went to the mac counter at the Bay right after (same mall) the people there were super nice to me and my mom.
For me the cruelty free issue was not the reason I fell out of love with mac. They just don’t evolve or innovate. They sell limited edition stuff which is just their old stuff in new packaging. I just feel like they’re too arrogant and resting on their laurels. Even before I went cruelty free I can’t remember the last time I bought something mac.
I don’t know where you are from but Mac is overpriced by so much in Australia. Like if you take the us price and convert they often add another 50percent on.. its bullshit
@@Msleonoraful wow that’s insane! I’m in the UK but I don’t know how the pricing compares here. I will say I think mac is floated by countries that have limited access to other high end brands. Price gouging like that is insane though, and really unfair.
@@Msleonoraful oh wow, it’s cheap here in the US. Their lipsticks were like $11. They have had 30% sales here all year .. I still don’t buy it tho because their quality is not great compared to other brands now
I'm surprise you guys didn't include Stila in this. Also, with Too Faced when they had the Erika Jayne "Pretty Mess" collection. I'm not a prude, but "Pat the PU$$" is pretty off putting and idk who that is marketed too.
I totally feel you on the not being a prude thing but not liking it. For me it's about trying too hard to be edgy, being tacky try-hards, etc. That offends me. LOL
The Becca skin tint that dropped recently is actually AMAZING and they should have marketed that so much harder! Their highlighters kick ass BUT they really screwed themselves by putting so much effort into highlighter marketing. If they dove into the blush trend over the last couple years they would be going strong right now.
Agreed!! Becca could have been at an all time high with the very dewy summer look everyone wants. I have an amazing blush topper from them that makes my cheeks have the perfect summertime glow. I really wish they leaned into all that, I liked Becca!
I SWEAR that they changed the tattoo liner formula somewhere down the line. It used to be a cult classic and now the only thing I hear people say about it is that it dries out after 2 uses, which it does.
They came out with new pro eyeshadow palettes recently, and the quality is great! But they don't get much hype, probably due to 1. Neutral everything and 2. Not sold almost anywhere, just online and a small selection at kohls. That's my guess.
I’m done with Colorpop. Washed out color stories, mediocre/poor quality and collection fatigue make them unappetizing to me. I can afford to do better so I do, but I can see them always having a market looking for exactly what Colorpop is selling.
Agreed - they tout themselves as on trend and listening to consumers meanwhile their own comment sections are people begging for restocks of main staple products that they’ve neglected that were good quality
With jstar, I was only ever interested in his stuff during that small window of, ooh that packaging is cool, never seen that shade of lipstick before and it's eye safe for eyeliner etc phase, then I learnt about him and his ego and his controversies and I was out and didn't end up buying anything, he needs to go back to that small time frame and hope to bring in people for the designs rather than for him because once they learn about him they'll be gone too🤷🏻♀️
Omg I literally forgot they existed 😂. Cindy Lou-manizer was my very first non-drugstore makeup item I ever purchased and I was in love with it. It’s probably still in the bottom of one of my makeup drawers or bags because I refuse to throw it away because it’s so nostalgic to me lol.
It’s interesting to say that because The Balm still very much exist in Turkey where all their products are displayed on local drugstore. I also love their highlighter but havent tried anything else since.
@@SyifaAdriana I think the issue everywhere else is they’re not in high end and they’re also not in drugstores. I’d love to see them in a drugstores near me

Mac used to have these small pots of cream highlighter that were around years before highlighters were a thing, those were THE BEST even better than what is available now, I wish they didn’t discontinue
Omg. I wasn’t expecting this. Thank you. I miss you on my Friday morning. I’m so sorry about your latest lockdown (which sadly is now in autocorrect!). Probably not a good idea to have wine before work but I’m with you in spirit
I still love NARS and remember the beauty of his first book. That new blush palette is smoooooth. Their dark eyeshadows are my go to for shadow liners. Mekong and Coconut Grove are the best.
Nars is still my favorite brand! I love their blushes and bronzers and sheer glow. Their eyeshadows are great too! The only products I did not like were the velvet matte stick foundation and skintint, those showed my dry patches because of all the silicones.
Okay but now I want a Clarisonic for my body. With massaging heads for quicker lotion absorption? Yes. And yeah, that goddamn Becca Zero "foundation" was the ultimate in "yes queen give us *nothing*!" 😂
I miss old Ubran Decay. They really went to shit. I really like their sheer lipstick formula but they don't sell enough shades. I agree they dropped in quality in eyeshadow.
Bare Minerals has made some moves lately that seem like they are looking to fill the void Becca should have filled. They've been marketing to a younger crowd and they already have tons of great quality "natural looking" makeup.
I feel like we should just call it "Kat Von D Beauty" again out of sheer defiance. This constant renaming is nonsense, why should we keep track? Clumsy, inelegant, and not doing the brand any favors.
Or just change the acronym to whatever we want, seeing as they can't decide. "Kool Vandals Dominate" "Keep Vaccinating Dummies" "Kaspersky Virus Desk", change it whenever you want 😃
Exactly my thoughts, from what I have seen Nars is popular but for more the general consumer audience that prefers mostly naturalish looks and deliver quality unlike other brands...
The Huda Beauty highlighter quads actually interested me until I saw her damn face!! Her quality always pleasantly surprises me but her ego is so huge I can't support that.
MAC wouldn't be the cruelty free scapegoat if they hadn't been loud and proud about being cruelty free for over 20 years first. It's because they let so many down that people are disappointed. Nobody is surprised about other brands that never were cruelty free to start with
Ugh and then they discontinued the liquid shimmering skin perfector for that ignite horribleness, The liquid shimmering skin perfector was the absolute best liquid highlight and it would be on fire now. It's how I discovered Becca way before Jaclyn through makeup artists. Lisa Eldridge's new range is so the same vibe as old Becca. 10,000% agree.
I don’t support brands that aren’t cruelty free but I totally agree about Mac being the scapegoat, people sh!t on them for it but don’t mind the likes of L’Oréal, maybelline etc
Colourpop being fast fashion/makeup is a double edged sword. It does allow them to be on trend all of the time, but because they make weekly/bimonthly releases, they are still creating palettes and collections when a trend hasn't died yet. A few years back was the warm neutral era and instead of releasing a few interesting takes on the trend, they BEAT that trend into submission. Then the color craze: cue their monochromatic series that went on so long they started duping themselves. Now we're in a cool/neutral palette trend and we're already seeing palettes that look alike. If CP cooled it on the palette releases, they could hype up their other products like their tinted moisturizers and lippie stix that have gotten consistently decent reviews
Love this video! I have to say, I love Mac. I don’t buy from them on a monthly basis, but some of their products are my staples: the cream colour base in hush (went through 2 of them, on my 3rd now), Face & Body foundation, the lipsticks are great, their liners are great (Teddy is an all time favorite), their lip liners are great. I think still there are lot of people buying MAC - at least in the U.K. My list: Bite Beauty - another example when selling the brand wasn’t a great idea. Everyone used to love their lip mask, the Amuse Bouche lipsticks and the lip liners. Make Up Forever - everyone used to be so excited about the launches 10 years ago. Now they are completely invisible. Illamasqua - used to be hyped in 2008(ish), kw almost disappeared. I have a soft spot for Illamasqua, they are different and they support a few great causes. I love their Skin Base foundation, their highlighters, cream blushes and pot eyeshadows (lip products are no good).
Oh wow, I had no idea Bite Beauty had sold. Kendo in 2014. I'm noticing a trend with these LVMH trendy properties going "ZOMG we're VEGAN" in the last few years...
In our local beauty store or sephora, becca mini highlighters were finally came in, on sale, and sold out. In south east asian market, full size highlighters are very "unnecessary" and we sought mini blush and mini highlighters more than full one, so its very ironic they stock up minis for us when they are going bankrupt instead of doing it forever ago.
I never bought Morphe because of the influencers they collaborated with. I have recieved products in my Ipsy bags and, ugh, can't stand them. I threw away a full sized concealer because I hated the smell and it would break up just a few hours after I applied it. Junk.
OH I have thoughts on Benefit! They absolutely crush it with their brow bars, and for every $1 spent on a brow wax Arch Experts are expected to sell $4 in product. Any Ulta with a Brow Bar counts Benefit in its top three brands, guaranteed. They don’t need to innovate because their game is replenishment- you get your brows done every four weeks well, you’ll probably need something every time you go in. Between that and their “franchise” products- Hoola, They’re Real, Roller, Porefessional- they clean up. It’s genius, I think.
Yeah they definitely make good money with their brow bars and popular products, we were talking more from a reputational point of view and not a financial point of view
@@BEAUTYNEWS oh for sure, I used to be embarrassed to work for them. It’s just an interesting thing they did, tying their brand so intrinsically to services. Has made them a bit bulletproof in an increasingly tough market.
Love your wine time videos! Would love to hear your thoughts on international makeup brands and trends outside of the USA and Australia. To add to your comments, I wish Colour Pop would stop putting chunky glitters in their pallets. I will not buy anything with glitter since I'll never use it. It's not eye safe so it's a huge waste of space/money.
I feel like though not popular on youtube, MAC is still super popular with the average customer. I saw a reddit thread recently where people listed the brands they would choose if they could only shop from 3 and MAC was the most mentioned brand by far. It has many staples for many people. But it's not as trendy, so people don't talk about it, but I think lots of people still shop from them and I don't think they are on their way out any time soon. Myself, I still have lots of staples and lipsticks from them, and they are in my top brands. They just need to get their popularity back up with more on-trend things and stop doing bullshit stuff like the Sims release.
MAC is one of the brands that would make sense to choose as the one and only to buy from. They have such a wide range. It would be kind of a bad idea to choose some trendy brand with only a few good products.
I agree with this! I can easily use a full face of products I really enjoy from MAC, but I can't say the same for most other brands. Most other brands have one product that they are known for and the rest are just mediocre. That's definitely what makes MAC stand out from the rest
It’s funny because I actually like the Becca No Pigment Foundation as someone who works a job that won’t even let me wear foundation, but I have a lot of redness on my face that I feel uncomfortable about. It’s not perfect, but it helps blur the redness enough where I don’t feel super self conscious and I can get away with it at work. I’ll probably stock up one next couple months.
you hit the nail on the head with colorpop. I bulk bought items that I had been eyeing for a while to get the free shipping. Then it sat on my shelf for a month while I was working on a project pallet. Recently I changed out that pallet with the colorpop pallet. I LOVED the color story but it's quality is so terrible. After about 15 days of using it I know I will never buy another colorpop pallet again. It's one of those brands that I want to love so badly because I love some of the concepts and color stories, and you can change out shades easily between all their pallets adjusting it if you just dislike one particular shadow. But the quality is just subpar to the point that I hate having to use it. And I can't think of one shade in the pallet that I would even care to save.
I had never bought from KVD until they stated that she does not recieve any money from the brand, but I hate that the two items I bought since have still have her name on them.
I've actually been loving make up revolution lately, their "I heart" range is great for fun basics and their tropical bird theme palletes have actually been really fun!
Bingo. Utter market saturation and now everything has been done to death and what is one to do...try brands (spend/waste money) just to try/compare formulas? No, thank you.
Yay wine time best time! 🍷 And maybe you could talk about your own beauty journeys (before youtube as well). So like going from just a consumer to someone involved in the community, how your preferences and routines have changed, show pictures if you still have them, what made you interested in beauty+makeup then and how has that mindset changed etc. 😊
I never ONCE bought any brush heads from Clarisonic. I only used generic brush heads with mine. I love my Mia 2 though. I feel like it is a great tool in my skin care arsenal.
Hailey i'm already dying 'we're not going to talk about them bc we thought they closed down years ago :)' haahahahah Keen to hop on the next one with you two!
Really enjoyed this episode. I agree that the crux of the issue between brands like NARS and ABH is having style vs following fashion; NARS has a style that is fairly timeless and ABH had that too until they started trying to keep up with fashion.
The thing about MAC here in the States is that their lipsticks are like $17, which is significantly more affordable than the $30-35 high end brands, like Charlotte Tilbury. So its a bummer that they are so much more expensive for you guys. Even considering the exchange rate, $30 for a MAC lipstick just makes me sad for you guys lol 🤦♀️
Y’all… TARTE! Literally haven’t bought anything from them since shape tape first came out and got super hyped, I’m the type of person to go through a Sephora or ulta by every aisle, and I always skip tarte, usually on accident!!! I know that they’ve been trying to cater to a younger audience w the “sugar rush” line but it’s like Claire’s makeup lol
Urban Decay's Born to Run still is one of the best palettes i own and I still can't believe they discontinued it and didn't try to stick to something with that kind versatility and thematic. Great theme with the travel, great all in one palette. I would think if they did themes and let go of the NAKED branding, they could do more. I liked Ultraviolet but what I wouldn't give for a proper cyberpunk themed palette with more bold purples and colors. Or for the wild west palette they released under the NAKED line... do a proper wild west color scheme and offer the same amount of shadows as BTR did. Carry the theme without the Naked limitations.
I’ve heard rumours that Marc Jacobs Beauty is going out of business too but can’t find anything to confirm it. Edit: ohhhh good to know about rebranding!
as a 21 year old with the makeup taste and buying habits of people my mum’s age, i actually don’t want nars to change things up!! they are amazing at doing what they do best in their signature way while still being on trend with certain things like (as you mentioned) the cream bronzer and cream blushes (WHICH ARE AMAZINGGGGGG). you two perfectly described how from the perspective of the beauty community online looking at new releases they don’t seem hot, but they’re cream of the crop when it comes to those department store counter makeup brands, and if they start going too trendy with arty palettes etc they’ll lose their core customer base
I agree about Norvina/ABH. I just started getting in to NARS and I like it. Their tinted moisturizer provides better coverage than my MAC foundation did.
Another thing about abh is that they weren’t compensating black creators fairly or at all. They also don’t create extensive ranges for people of color (ex. the 3 face palettes they recently came out with) which has lead to a lot of people not supporting the brand, including myself.
The things that drew me to KVD and Jeff* was the uniqueness of the colors for the alternative looks that I like and then the faces of the companies had to screw things up and they became boring like everything else on the market with a bad reputation that made me uncomfortable to purchase from them.
I love this style of video!! Definitely need a part 2 👀 I agree with all the commentary, especially Colourpop but I think with them I get tired of them not having any core products in stock.😌

I will watch from beginning to the end. These ladies are so smart 🤓 and I love hearing their opinion on this topic.
Ugh Hailey I LIVE for this version of the multicolored hair! Fave look yet, the white/really light locks framing your face are such a moment!!!
I love it too, I couldn’t figure out what had changed about her appearance but I see that now 🥰
Haven't started watching yet but just want to say I love these chit chat podcast style videos, they're so relaxing after work and I feel like I'm having a conversation with you
Thank you so much Veronica ❤️
Please do a top of the “dead horses used by brands”, I mean the overused names we’re sick of. Orgasm, Pillow talk, Naked, etc.
am i the only one who thinks the orgasm horse is still relatively alive 😂 (although would love to see nars expand the lines of the other most popular blush shades such as deep throat)
@@myfanwydavies Deep Throat is such a great blush color; I hate the Gold shine of Orgasm; Deep Throat is a beautiful natural blush
"NO IDEA WHO THE TIK TOKERS ARE"!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Absolutelly accurate!! Not all of us are 12 years old, ESPECIALLY US HERE ON YT.
Amen. At the age of 50, I will do what I wanna do! I am over doing things for trends. I wear what I want. Nothing boring here!
🤣I got so much shit on Urban Decays Facebook page for saying that they “Urban Decayed” the Prince collection.
Their formula is stuck on 2005 and they still charge high end prices when drugstore brands out perform their muted shadows.
Wet n Wild shadows out perform that prince collection. Like what were they thinking? And the entire collection made no sense.
@@montana1080
Wet n Wilds formula is better than this agreed.
I love NYX matte singles formula it’s so user friendly and that even goes for dark mattes which can be tricky, theirs work so well for me
Lol. You're a braver woman than I. Kudos 👍
“That horse is dead and they still are trying to ride it”. I couldn’t stop laughing 😂 😂😂
This cracked me up lol I always say to my kids "you can't flog a dead horse 🐎 it might move when you kick it but its still dead"
The next hair color for Hailey needs to be either sea foam/turquoise or white/silver.
I bought the Becca highlighter minis when I heard they were going out of business, they are great but definitely didn't need the full size!
Oh yes, I agree. Their highlighters are great, but not full size needed.
I got a mini and the highlighter just fell out of the pan after 2 uses. It was sad.
Oh I wish they hadn’t discontinued their multisticks!
Yes; I don’t buy their lipsticks anymore because they go bad way too quickly.
I used to absolutely adore UD and thought the brand was unique/different to the brands that were around when I was a teen (early 2000s) over the years the brand has changed so much to basic/generic themes.
I haven’t bought anything from UD since the Gwen stefani eyeshadow palette
Same- as a colourful make-up lover in 2000 they were my favourite brand but when they became obsessed with nude palettes I lost interest. They are in every department store on the UK high street though so I suspect they sell well to people who don't buy make-up online.
I remember the days of the Lip Gunks.
The first brand that should be on this list is TARTE! Almost every negative thing said about all these other brands all fit Tarte.
I said the exact same thing! They have completely lost their identity, forgotten about their original target market and have become so unappealing!
I can't stop being amazed by Hailey's hair. Like it's just mesmerizing 😍🌈✨
I agree, it looks like a filter!!!
It was so strange because it happened around lipstick gate time
@@emilymakescoffee1741 Whaaaat?? Was it like a glitter lipstick or anything? Not trying to dismiss what you found, I'm just... Appalled. 😳
My HG face products are Mac!
Completely agree, so happy they haven’t forgotten their roots!
Can’t wait for the new collection honestly it’s the first Mac collection I’ve though I’m interested in awhile
And I like the recycling program of the lipsticks
I'll tell you what, Stila is the cat of the makeup world, they totally have 9 lives
Ugh, the "DSL Lips" (redundant and gross!)
Stila was on the longer list of brands but we had to cut it down. Maybe we can discuss it in a round 2!
I think Stilla kinda got reinvent themselves when they available in K-Beauty market.
OMG, agree so hard about the blush thing!!!
My travel size ones never dried out, but my regular size ones dried up so fast.
If I want something from Urban Decay, I wait for it to go on sale for 50% off. It always does!😁
I’m waiting for the Wild West pallet to be half off.
I just bought the Born to run palette and get naked foundation for 50 % off 😃
When you were talking about the MUA brands, I also remembered Lorac?? Where tf did they go?
They came out with new pro eyeshadow palettes recently, and the quality is great! But they don't get much hype, probably due to 1. Neutral everything and 2. Not sold almost anywhere, just online and a small selection at kohls. That's my guess.
The opposite of where I live in the USA. Hot, busy and crazy. It's 36°C here (about 96°F). We literally jumped from Spring straight into mid Summer.
Same, it's awful!
I’m done with Colorpop. Washed out color stories, mediocre/poor quality and collection fatigue make them unappetizing to me. I can afford to do better so I do, but I can see them always having a market looking for exactly what Colorpop is selling.
speaking of washed out, did you did their "Neon" collection?? A 5 pan palette with ONE Neon shade and 4 nude shades with neon packaging. Like why?
Agreed - they tout themselves as on trend and listening to consumers meanwhile their own comment sections are people begging for restocks of main staple products that they’ve neglected that were good quality
Why can’t Color Pop stick the big hits? So Jaded pallet? Please!!
That super retro, early Too Faced packaging looks exactly like The Balm! Trippy...
With jstar, I was only ever interested in his stuff during that small window of, ooh that packaging is cool, never seen that shade of lipstick before and it's eye safe for eyeliner etc phase, then I learnt about him and his ego and his controversies and I was out and didn't end up buying anything, he needs to go back to that small time frame and hope to bring in people for the designs rather than for him because once they learn about him they'll be gone too🤷🏻♀️
What happened to the Balm? I never hear anything about them anymore.

Topics to discuss suggestions:
-new brands, products you are excited about
-thoughts on all the new influencer/celebrity/make up artist brand trend and break down each one by quality/innovation/packaging
-other brands to discuss for part 2: tarte, it cosmetics, kkw, lorac, smashbox, Kylie cosmetics, jouer, ofra
Love you both and love hearing your opinions.
Mac used to have these small pots of cream highlighter that were around years before highlighters were a thing, those were THE BEST even better than what is available now, I wish they didn’t discontinue
I loved those too! Cream color bases I think they were called
@@BEAUTYNEWS I still have one, has some product left on the edges. Can’t throw it out, it’s close to 20 years old 😬
NARS is always my goes to.
Okay but now I want a Clarisonic for my body. With massaging heads for quicker lotion absorption? Yes.
And yeah, that goddamn Becca Zero "foundation" was the ultimate in "yes queen give us *nothing*!" 😂
It's boiling here in Wisconsin, feels like it went from 60° F to 95° F with no transition. I need this vid and a cold seltzer so bad.
I miss old Ubran Decay. They really went to shit. I really like their sheer lipstick formula but they don't sell enough shades. I agree they dropped in quality in eyeshadow.
Everything wrong with MAC in one collab, Sims. That's how MACs shooting itself in the foot.
That was such a shit collab! Shame on them!
Bare Minerals has made some moves lately that seem like they are looking to fill the void Becca should have filled. They've been marketing to a younger crowd and they already have tons of great quality "natural looking" makeup.
Yep, they're calling themselves "the original clean beauty brand"
I wanted them sooooo bad but the packaging made me so uncomfortable that I couldn’t stand to look at it every day 😂
MAC wouldn't be the cruelty free scapegoat if they hadn't been loud and proud about being cruelty free for over 20 years first. It's because they let so many down that people are disappointed. Nobody is surprised about other brands that never were cruelty free to start with
Exactly!
I guess because they didn't hide it and then claim they still were like Wet n' Wild - I don't hold anything against them.
This is the best replacement for beauty news ❤😂
Ugh and then they discontinued the liquid shimmering skin perfector for that ignite horribleness, The liquid shimmering skin perfector was the absolute best liquid highlight and it would be on fire now. It's how I discovered Becca way before Jaclyn through makeup artists. Lisa Eldridge's new range is so the same vibe as old Becca. 10,000% agree.
I think the big thing is when brands sell out, i seen so many good brands go to shit when they're bought
I love how hayley keeps cracking up at the end, while kat is talking about huda and jefree🤣🤣🤣
I heard NYX and Urban Decay use the same factory. Could be just a rumor, but ever since I noticed many similarities in formula/quality.
They're both L'Oréal brands 😉
Oh, I think UD’d single mattes are some of the best, whereas NYX is hit or miss with eyeshadow.
What a lovely surprise 😊 I wasn’t expecting a video

The newest summer neon collection from Colourpop was a complete joke.
I was so disappointed 😭
Definely not neon! I was excited with the promo pics! 😣😣
Oh god I just looked it up 😬
I’ve never purchased anything from them and I’m not planning to after this launch.
My list:
Bite Beauty - another example when selling the brand wasn’t a great idea.
I am proud to say I’ve never bought morphe
It’s horrible. Don’t! Trust me it’s not worth it even if it’s a dollar.
I never bought Morphe because of the influencers they collaborated with. I have recieved products in my Ipsy bags and, ugh, can't stand them. I threw away a full sized concealer because I hated the smell and it would break up just a few hours after I applied it. Junk.
The one good thing Urban Decay did was the primer potion.
If you want better shadows for 1/4 the price? BH cosmetics
Every time you alluded to the video being too long, I was thinking, "No, talk forever! Please!" I really enjoyed this. XO
I like the Becca No Pigment and it’s down to $10 now. It’s great for oily skin.
you hit the nail on the head with colorpop.
Yeah I think it would have been so much smarter of them to have paused and rebranded entirely.
@@BEAUTYNEWS Yes! Absolutely should have paused and rebranded.

I think MAC was super popular because the market was less saturated now there's soo much
Bingo. Utter market saturation and now everything has been done to death and what is one to do...try brands (spend/waste money) just to try/compare formulas? No, thank you.
Yay wine time best time! 🍷 And maybe you could talk about your own beauty journeys (before youtube as well). I agree that the crux of the issue between brands like NARS and ABH is having style vs following fashion; NARS has a style that is fairly timeless and ABH had that too until they started trying to keep up with fashion.
Aww, I wasn’t expecting a video. Such a nice surprise. But, I hope you get out of lockdown soon. You look beautiful. Thank you for this video treat.
Oh this is perfect!! I miss these videos from you both! Sad to hear you’re in lockdown again but I hope you’re doing well. Love to you both!! ❤️
I didn't realize they were so affordable here! I thought it was expensive everywhere, your comment is making me want to go this week 😄
Also agree with you both on increasing the quality of the shadows. Great video ladies. So many great points made on these brands.
I’ve heard rumours that Marc Jacobs Beauty is going out of business too but can’t find anything to confirm it. Edit: ohhhh good to know about rebranding!
The rumors are that they are going vegan, but who knows 🤷♀️

MJ stuff is on sale at Sephora rn. Been seeing their makeup at Marshall’s and TJ Max a lot in the past few years
as a 21 year old with the makeup taste and buying habits of people my mum’s age, i actually don’t want nars to change things up!! they are amazing at doing what they do best in their signature way while still being on trend with certain things like (as you mentioned) the cream bronzer and cream blushes (WHICH ARE AMAZINGGGGGG). you two perfectly described how from the perspective of the beauty community online looking at new releases they don’t seem hot, but they’re cream of the crop when it comes to those department store counter makeup brands, and if they start going too trendy with arty palettes etc they’ll lose their core customer base
I agree about Norvina/ABH.
I just started getting in to NARS and I like it. Their tinted moisturizer provides better coverage than my MAC foundation did.
I LOVE that you decided to upload a video like this.... I hope there is a part 2 in the future!!!! 🤞❤😃
I nodded and laughed my way through this one ladies :) Also .. you are both having fabulous hair days !! love youse xx
Hailey I am loving your hair and makeup! I haven’t been around for awhile so I’m sure this isn’t new but I had to comment how gorgeous you look. 💖💖💖
I’m in the middle of exams I really needed this to relax ! thank you
Wow. Half these brands are a proper blast from the past, which I guess is the point. Shame some of these brands will die a slow death but I've enjoyed the nostalgia trip :) Great vid!
Totally agree on Nars. I almost don't want to buy their nicer releases even though I really enjoy their formulas because I've accumulated so many mini orgasm and laguna
