Insane specs on this car. Some hilarious anecdotes from owners of this car, of leaving everyone at the lights and being 200 metres down the road before most cars have even crossed out of the intersection. There's going to be a few buyers for this one, looking forward to seeing this version on the roads as well as the tell-tale volcano orange base model.
I’ve had a bit of fun this week taking off at the lights 😁
American living in Australia, driving an Aussie RWD MY. Great channel and I’m glad you are educating Australia on their EV choices. I do think it’s worth a mention though, these cheaper EVs like MG, GWM, and especially BYD are doing nearly nothing to alleviate the charging infrastructure issues in Australia. Tesla may cost a bit more but all Tesla sales have a bit of that margin going towards infrastructure. The low cost automakers listed are actually making this issue worse with every car they sell as they reinvest nothing. We shouldn’t assume this is a government issue to solve, all automakers have a role to play to invest in the infrastructure as they are making the profits. I think it’s difficult to recommend these OEMs until they start to take some responsibility to go along with their sales.
Thank you and yes Tesla knew the problem from the start would be EV charging on road trips hence why they invested so heavily in their supercharger network - they are to be commended for this. On the flip side OEMs don’t generally invest in petrol stations so I think long term charging anxiety will be overcome as businesses work out how to make money from EV DC charging on our highways with better facilities and amenities. Looking forward to when this eventually happens 👍
We've had our Xpower for 4 weeks now and clocked up about 2,000 kms so far here in Adelaide absolutely love this thing.
Wow! Awesome stuff 👏😃
@@LudicrousFeed you met me in Perth mate.
I was in Perth?
@@LudicrousFeed perhaps my mistake? Aeva expo and meetings? I may have confused you for someone else.. my apologies. 👍
Wow you said more information about his vehicle in 6 min compared to the other videos I have watched. Believe me Ive watched alot.
I tried to cover as much as I could 🙏
@@LudicrousFeed Thank you. I ordered one now. Prolly gonna arrive in Q2 this year:) can't wait!
Surprising it doesnt save your settings. Would definitely annoy the crap out of me.
Yeah me too
Thanks Tom, yet another brilliant overview of another new EV to the market. MG appear to have one of the longest Warranty periods for the current group of EV's. Not certain I would want to sacrifice the range for performance with the MG4 XPower, but the MG4 range seems to be very good value.
Agreed, almost unbeatable for value
7:00 I've found Sport mode seems to make a bit of a difference to that lag, even in the Excite 51.
Oh ok that's good to know. I've found even in Normal, the lag is minimal compared to eg. MG ZS EV
Good review Tom! Be interesting what you compare it with in the future.
Thanks! We have a baseline now 👍
They have an option in the head unit for OTA, but they can’t be bothered to actually implement it.
I think this would be a fun car to own, but I was more interested in the 77 long range if I was going to get an MG4. It was funny to read a post on this car in the CarsAustralia subreddit today - “sports car” folks feeling threatened - lol
Sports car folks? I wanna be sports car folk 😃
I'll try getting a LR 77 in early 2024 - stay tuned
@@LudicrousFeed yup, don’t we all, and now we can without the smoke blowing out the back, gears grinding etc etc. Me thinks the naysayers should try it before formulating their outdated opinions. Looking forward to the 77 review, although I’m thinking there won’t be too much different than the Essence, and of course the Seal review too!
Looks like a nice car :)
It is!
now horsepower for EV is cheap, now people driving EVs only care about battery and range.... btw, nice seeing you @ Lemongrove today...
Oh hey! Yes thanks for saying hello 👋
Next Car… will it be the BYD Seal Performance?
Would love to test that one!
I test drove one and the interior is just to budget for my liking.
This car has 100k straight line performance with 30k interior and handling.
I mentioned the interior was basic in my initial Excite 51kWh review … and some people were not happy 😬
@@LudicrousFeed
Sounds like they know it’s true and are a little insecure.
Nothing a wrap can't fix. 😁
I guess that's how Sydney people Drive...
Welcome to Sydney 😆
My VW already breaks every speed limit in Australia sitting on 2000 RPM. It's practically idling.
Nobody asked about your kraut krap
Fast in a straight line, seems to fall away sharply after that. Speaks ‘cheap’ everywhere, inside and out.
We’ll see if they improve it with the next version
Nothing a wrap can't fix.
Unfortunate and very weird why you couldn't test it completely, no 0-60/0-100 test or handling as well(mind you handling may be the same across the range). Almost need someone to lend you their MG4 X-Power and do the performance testing with.
Yeah for sure. Ideally would love for MG to host a track day - that would be fun
