I love river fishing and am glad to see this event still going strong. Although the pole is a good method for rivers, I still associate river fishing with rod and running line. Yes, I'm either A) Old school B) A dinosaur or C) A miserable old git (or possibly all three) 😉😆
We should enjoy it while we still can. Natural venues are the home of the more senior anglers(age wise). Sadly the younger anglers seem to prefer the commercials(guess that is where the money is nowadays). Unless things change in this respect, i very much doubt there will be a " Riverfest 2043". Hope i am wrong.
There's a real split in opinion as to whether good pegs like the barbel peg should be left out. It was pegged to split the fish which worked this year and it produced a lower weight on peg 55 and better weights adjacent. Would you leave the bream pegs out from last year, the chub pegs that threw up over 40lb. Where do you stop?
@anglingtrustcompetitions we'll it's simple really as it seems these barbel don't move, so absolutely I would leave it out being its only 1 peg. With chub and bream, they are likely to be in several pegs, so its completely different. If there were barbel caught in other areas in numbers, then leave it in.
Great event & coverage
Awesome video of this brilliant event. Top job👏👏
Brilliant Tim, glad you enjoyed it!
Fantastic coverage great event..
Many thanks Dug, one of our favorites!

It's a shame with hindsight that the barbel peg was not left out especially with the low and clear river.

Great report from one of the "real" matches left. Shame that most like to catch human bred fish from human made ponds aka "fisheries" these days.
first lol
Hero!
Well done
