Never mind about the fishing I am pleased to see you back where you belong match fishing all the best for the rest of the season,go and get some winning done and making the best videos of all the anglers out there
Thanks Geoffrey
Thanks Jon. Good to see you back on a river. Better luck next match. Nice to hear a cuckoo in the background. Only the second I’ve heard this year.
Thanks, yes love hearing the cuckoos 👍
Thank you for the video Jon. Worked hard for what was available. Maybe the amount of Esox about was the reason fish were not staying around.
Yes I'd love to have seen underwater!
Unlucky John. Typical early season river. Great production as always. Best that's out there. Worth the effort I know you put in. Natural venues are my favourite and in particular river matches. Hope you fish more matches on the rivers especially the Trent and the Thames. Top man.
Thanks Robert, I will certainly try my best to get more river stuff shot
Hard old match. Great watch. Jon.
Thanks Richard, yes extra tough day!
HI Jon i really like the live match videos, especially the ones on natural venues,a clear bright day doesnt help especially when looking to catch skimmers, full marks for effort though it seems it was a match of what might have been. Thanks for the video, stay safe and keep well.
Glad you like them!
What a hard match. So many options with such small reward. Focuses the mind and makes you think and concentrate. Looking at what you tried didnt leave much more to the imagination that you could have done. Well fished and a most entertaining and interesting video. Well done Jon. Cheers
Thanks Peter
Another great video John keep them coming
Thanks 👍
Good to see you back on the matches Jon and unlucky being piked out.
Good luck and tight lines for your future endeavours and really hope you qualify/win a river fest, certainly deserve it with the diversity in your angling 🎣🦈🦈🦈
Thanks 👍
Great stuff Jon, even if it was a tough old session. I do enjoy your river vids, even if I've not fished a match on a river in some years! They're my pleasure venue as a change from commercials. A bit of variety keeps things fresh.
Absolutely
V glad to see you out and enjoying moving water. Great vid as usual dude, take care and tight lines
Thanks! You too!
Good to see you match fishing John
Thanks 👍
very glad to see you back on the circuit... more power to you!
Thanks!
Good to see you on the river Jon 👍 I’ve just had a pleasure session on the river had five pike on killed my roach fishing always frustrating especially when the rod bends over and you think it’s something decent. Look forward to your next video 👍
Thanks Steve, pesky pike!!!
lovely hearing that Cuckoo mate 🙂
I think it was calling the 'all in'...
I was go say exactly the same 😊
Love cuckoos
Yes that crossed my mind too!

Thanks 👍
Nice video Jon, working hard as usual
Thanks Pete 👍
Well, Jon, you seem to be getting into this fishing lark. Perhaps you should keep going for a bit and see where it takes you... and us... great video as always...
Many thanks 👍👍
Rivers this time of year are hard bloody work lol
Agreed. Needs some rain
I felt for you mate, especially when the rafts of weed appeared. Been there got the t shirt lol.
The Nene always looks fishier than it fishes I think, gone are the days of big nets of Roach from Elton sadly.
I used to love Railworld and the Embankment. North Bank less so but always a few surprises in there
I've never done too well on the upper stretches but in Northampton stretches (Carlsberg to Billing) its full of fish. There are some nice ones about aswell.Ive had huge hauls of chub 4/5lb,roach/rudd to 2lb,perch to 4lb and know a guy who had two 8lb chub out in a backwater, saw them weighed.Dont get fished much either and most of it is free.
Great to see you back on the rivers Jon, best of luck for the next one mate🎣👍 where’s the Freddos
Can't afford them :-)
Far too early in the year for Oundle Jon , the good thing is there are plenty of small fish about. The winning peg was the one that always wins that section and most matches next to the old town bridge, on our evening matches on the Nene its scary what bonus fish are being caught at 8,50 pm ! Still doing ok lashing the pinkies in over small balls of GB with light rigs though. Good watch thanks.
Yes looking back I think I could’ve caught double on a steady pinkie attack (bread even?) but felt I needed some big uns to qualify, which turned out to be correct. Was lovely looking bit of river though
@@JonArthur I don't think bread would work there Jon as it doesn't seem any ( duck /swan feeders) go there, but happy to be proved wrong. I've won my section at Oundle a few times before when I've just gone all out pinkies and groundbait and got lucky the big fish didn't show , more often than not one or two do on the recognised pegs though .
I totally get what you're saying, but the presence of ducks and people feeding birds won't be the reason you will or won't catch on bread as it'll work on any venue on its day, just sometimes better on the pegs that regularly see it. I think fish just like bread, and its just another kind of groundbait after all
Always another day Jon best of luck next time.
Thanks
That was hard fishing 🐠
Hard but still kind of enjoyable
I always striggle getting a bait dropper to behave, always opens when I don't want it to, and rarely.opens as it hits the deck 😢
Some need a bit of tinkering just to make sure they open and close properly, and try not to cram the bait in. Have a cable tie on the bottom of some, by the weight, that helps ensure the plunger works when it touches the bottom too.
I was in control of opposite bank for most my life until illness tree above you has dozen big chub under it .3/4away across from Bank your on odd tench big bream big perch bit later in year usually full roach
Thanks Lesley thats great to know, much appreciated
Great video Jon, that seemed like a hard match with what looked like very clear still water due to the lack of ripple on the surface. Hopefully you'll do better on the next qualifier mate. Hope you don't mind me asking but what did your cap have written on it what you was wearing in the office
Cheers, matrix cap I think 👍
What date was this fished john. Thanks 🙏
Last weekend 👍
It would be interesting Jon to know what it cost in bait-travel and pools for say your day on the Nene.
Never ever been money driven so I try not to dwell on the cost of it all, but still hope what I can win over a season helps to balance it all out
You gonna try for the Evesham festival again Jon 👍
I sadly hadn’t planned on fishing Evesham much this year due to other commitments
Hi Jon, was that the nene at Northbank nr Whittlesey/peterborough ? If so 1 mile from me . Unlucky with the pike and perch !!
Oundle mate .
No it was outskirts of Oundle at a bit called Plantations, near Barnwell
@@JonArthur thanks
