I saw what you did dotting the "i" with the pit. I took seeds from my Grandmother's yard 30 years ago. Some seeds from red fruit and some from dark. I have a monster of a bush over 25 years old at my house that just started getting darker fruit now. My niece butchered it a few years ago with tree trimming but it has recovered now and she is only allowed to work on chopping weeds. I have a theory that sweeter fruit grow a plant with sweeter fruit but that may or not be true. I don't know what variety I have but it is 16 ft. high and 10 inches diameter at the ground (it forks into about 6-7 trunks.
Yeah the red orange variety tast like gas mixs with hot chili but without the hotness of a chili more like a sweet chili I didn't really like it . Thank God I got a black variety I'm going graft it to the root stock of my orange red one . I haven't tried the black variety but I heard from alot of people it's way better then the red and orange ones

The older trees do make better fruit, I think. Tends to be larger & more sweet.

With the black star.is there any similarity to a deep dark normal cherry.. and would you prefer it over a normal dark cherry?
They are completely different. real cherries taste nothing like these. They both taste great but you can't compare them.
