    I live in South Africa. I have a HUGE Grumichama in my garden. It produces uncountable delicious fruits each year. There was one exception a few years ago. The windy season was late and the flowers were blown off thus preventing fruiting. Otherwise what a productive tree!

    I live in Australia, Northern NSW, my tree grew very slowly for about 10 years then started to take off and fruit.
    Profuce fruiting this year. The tree is about 30 years old now and about 5-6 meters high. Nice tree.

    Hello Truly Tropical! I started with a small tree from the University run nursery in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. Planted it at home in Yabucoa, PR 18.0965° N, 65.9215° W at around 800 ft elevation, and within 7 years had hundreds of small trees popping up under the small trees from seeds fallen. The trees grew quite bushy and up to 20 ft tall. Beautiful trees and most delicious fruit. Goes from white flower to green, red and then dark purple fruit in about a month. Trees always heavy in fruit. Only reason fruit is not grown commercially is due to large size seeds compared to fruit from what I understand. Now I live back in Georgia USA and would love to try to grow in a green house, just need a seed and would need to keep it from freezing I guess.

    • @vantrongkiet
      @vantrongkiet 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, i think there is some others reason rather than temperature, because i have a tree in vietnam that temp ranges from 10 degree C in winter and up to 40 degree C in summer and it grow very well. you should check the water if it's too dry, and maybe try another tree.

      dont plant it in compacted clay soil. It wont produce cherries in clay soil even if it survives root rot which tree usually develops when it rains in winter and soil is cold. Grow in 25 gal pot or work a lot of organic matter into your soil at least a year before planting. I grow it in SoCal in sandy loam with ph 6.8-6.5 which was clay soil before I worked a lot of organic matter into it over years.

    grows and fruits in SoCal and AZ. It doesnt taste like regular cherry - not even close to the worst of them. I guess it is probably wishful tasting from the same people who say that acerola tastes like regular cherry. There is no tropical cherry that can even come close to Bing or Rainier cherry by the taste or meat volume.
