Great video, Andrew! I’m glad to hear you’re doing better. My wife and I live in Hawaii, but we had a checkup at the Island Hospital in Penang this February. We were very impressed by their efficiency, pricing, and professionalism. We’re planning to return next year for another annual checkup. If we had done these tests in Hawaii, it would have easily cost us over $2,000. We paid less than $400 for both of us In Penang. The American healthcare system is quite a rip-off.
I went to Prince Court ER in KL because of abdominal obstruction. They let me wait 10 hours (from 1pm till 11pm, because the doctor was busy), feeling very bad, before starting treatment with a tube through my nose in my stomach to suck material out, which helped a lot immediately. Doctors from other hospitals told me later that this should have been done right away after arriving in the ER. They charged me around 6800 RM, including lots of nonsense and inflated charges. I filed a complaint and they let me wait 44 days to respond that they deny everything, without getting into any detail. They are not honest or transparant and fail to take responsibility for their very serious mistakes. I will file complaints with authorities and go to court, and seek media attention, as I want to expose this.
im so sorry 4 such unfair charges..whc i believe rarely happened..realky expensive i think. you may lodge a complaint indeed. there a tribunal hearing such complaint if im not mistaken..
Sorry to hear about your bad experience at Prince Court in KL. I go there regularly, including for my annual health screening like Taylor discusses in this video, and even had surgery there last year. All of my interactions at Prince Court have been top-notch, professional and amazing. I'm sure this was an anomaly, but you definitely should do what is necessary to express your dissatisfaction. Best of luck to you.
@@nomadjim If it was an anomaly, then at least they would have owned up to their mistakes and take responsibility. What they are doing now is the exact opposite, not showing any integrity. So far their (lack of) responses reflect very badly on them, making it only much worse. I expect it is going to take a long time to make them admit they made very serious mistakes and should work on major structural improvements.
Great video and very interesting. Smart man not running to the doctors every time you feel sick, you're clearly healthy enough to let your immune system do it's job!
Wow! That’s such great care and extensive testing to have it ll done in one day! I can’t imagine paying so little for such great care! I’m glad you’re feeling better and that you’re in pretty darn good shape :) My mom always says, “I’m in great shape for the shape I’m in”
Good to hear all went well and health is good! These reports look so familiar to me as well, we also do our full health checks yearly, since we live in Malaysia. It’s insane how affordable they are and yet so thorough and including detailed consultation and advice. I love it. (Healthy as we are….). And also good to hear you recovered from what looks like was a flu. Back to Vespa cruisin’ I guess! Have a good weekend!
I cracked a rib but didn't realize it. That area hurt a little bit for a few days but not enough to go see a doctor. It was found a year later when I got an xray to see if my spinal arthritis had worsened.
Andrew sorry to hear you were sick and glad you recovered well. You’ve clearly lost weight but it really suits you - looking younger and fit ! Pay attention to diet and walking and try to lose a little more - you’ll soon look like a movie star !
Glad you're healthy! Even at (almost) 1800 if it was in USD - with all those tests is even less than you would pay in the US! So, under $400 USD is truly a bargain for what you had done!
You have had so much going on with your move, I’m so sorry you got sick. But glad you got a good medical checkup and a nice visit with your friends. Relax a while and enjoy your new pad! Can’t wait to see your tour! 😘
Thank you for sharing! I enjoyed watching your video and was happy to hear you say that you were going to go out. Things to do, people to see and full life to live! Wishing you a great week!
Thanks Andy! Wishing you a swift recovery, Might your illness have been something like a Flu? (Covid seems to be raging in much of the world currently). And WOW! what a difference in Medical care from when I was in Penang decades ago, when you really only had the ancient Adventist Hospital where the two time I went I was told: "GO TO SINGAPORE, CARE HERE NO GOOD LAH". You are indeed right about the agony of medical care in America Andy, and your positive account is something for others who are facing healthcare challenges in their home country to consider. Nearly everyone I know can't get a doctor visit, or if they can it's like a trip to a used car dealership or Fast food take-out, and most say they would not go to a clinic or hospital unless it's a matter of life or death. And if you are 65' or over and on Medicare, healthcare in America can be even a greater challenge. in my area, as in much of the U.S., there are no doctors taking new Medicare Patients, so unless it's and Emergency getting healthcare can be difficult or nearly impossible. A friend recently took his wife to the emergency room for a emergency Gall-bladder surgery, and there were no beds, gurneys or even chairs to sit on so she laid on the floor for nearly 8 hours. My friend who was a combat medic in Vietnam said it was worst than combat hospitals, and they would both rather die than go back to that hospital. Btw, I seem to recall you mentioning health Insurance in Malaysia. A few months ago I was looking into medical coverage in Malaysia and recall that after about age 68 options for private coverage were very limited and costly, and I was wondering if you have health insurance in Malaysia now?
Hello, you can check Sunway medical center too. This should be the best in Malaysia and much much closer to KL. if one day you feel going to Penang is too far, then this may be a very good substitute.
Hope that you have had a good medical checkup. Hope that you are getting better with your current health. Your apartment looked organized already, beautiful.
Glad you had a good report Taylor. I just hit 70 last week and I love it. Also my chest x-ray gets the same type of "fractures" I think it's my multiple stents.
Another great video! It's not just the amazingly low cost of the health check that surprised me but that you get the results within an hour. Unbelievable! I've had a couple of MRIs here in Scotland in the past year and it took between 3 - 6 months for the results. I've been on the waiting list to see an opthalmologist for over a year. Anyhoo, I'm glad to hear you passed with flying colors!

Hi Andrew. I’m so sorry you have been unwell. Maybe it was some kind of bug going round? Yes, your health care tests were quite a reasonable price.
