Thank you, Andrew, for introducing Jeff to your channel and the countless other expatriates who have chosen to base themselves in Malaysia. I can only image how difficult it must be for foreigners to relocate themselves to Malaysia; the paperwork alone seems to be a barrier. Even yet, it's encouraging to know that many more foreigners are making the effort to relocate here, despite the difficulties in acclimating to the new surroundings, climate, people, and other unspoken elements. Penang is a fantastic option, but KL is also may be good for you because it has plenty of quiet areas and you can still enjoy privacy while you're in your own house. We Malaysians are happy to have kind individuals from all over the world living with us and are appreciative if they can integrate into our civilized society. Thus, stay and chat with the locals as there are enough of friendly people to make you feel at home even though there are still a lot of other expats here that you can count on.
Hmm,, I consider myself lucky for owning a flat in Woodlands Singapore which is a hop, skip and jump away from JB. When I move back to singapore, I plan to explore the mainland and some of the islands before venturing into sabah & sarawak, kalau duit belum habis!!

Wonderful! Malaysia is the best place for Westerners to retire, especially since they appreciate the sunny weather and an English-speaking environment in the country.
Great interview Taylor. Interestingly I am in an opposite conundrum. I am Malaysian, from mainland state of Kedah about 2 hours from Penang Island. I started college in Penang before completing my degree in US and I have spent my entire 30-year working career in Dallas, TX and hope to retire in the next 5-6 years. I wasn't aware of how hard it is to apply for the MM2H program. All my siblings are still back home so I have decided that it may be a good idea to keep my Malaysian citizenship just in case I change my mind in the future. In the meantime, the annual vacation between the States and Johor Bahru via Singapore to visit family will continue. Who knows I might decide to visit Penang this December. I miss the food there.
I used to live in Dallas too, originally from Malaysia, I just got back a month ago from Malaysia traveling for 2 months there. I have relocate to uk and now looking at Canary Islands this Monday for 3 months stay. Penang is in my list.

Penang is a tiny island but there's a lot of amazing nature experience in every corner plus the best ones are free. Explore out of the pathways and you'll be amazed. Island folks are used to tourists in every nook so don't be afraid to venture.

Marvelous. Glad to meet Mr. Jeff. Nice person and friendly as he talks with him. I hope, Andrew can visit Jeff once awhile if you go to Penang. 😂 Cheers.
Thanks, Andrew, for allowing Jeff, the retired judge from the US, in your video. It's a good introduction to how an expatriate lives and works here on MM2H status. Let's hope all the paperwork will be done on time before Jeff decides on other options in March 2024. Penang is more or less a permanent choice, a food haven, and a slower pace of life than KL. Furthermore, Penang is the most suitable retirement spot and is in the top 10 in the world regarding retiring here, according to the travel magazine Conde Nast Traveler. Well, let's hope that more American expats will choose Penang as their destination in their golden years.

You have chose the right place Penang is a beautiful island .. 🎉🎉🎉
I think so too!
Great interview...love the teal shirt. Still waiting for you to do a 'shirt' video : )
I change shirts 16 times in this video. Did you miss it? th-cam.com/video/_yky2KBKKEQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=BDBjrOf8klD-FCEY
@@andrewtaylor4558 LOL ! I did catch the change from the awesome teal highlighted opening shirt to the more sedate interview shirt, but for the rest of the interview Judge Jeff's "Someone slashed my throat" hot mess of a modern art tropical shirt was a complete distraction. Angain, great interview and glad you included his 'puppy.'
Just checked out the link.... awesome yet 'subtle' shirt changes. You are so creative
Nice house tour and visit with Jeff, thank you. Next week my wife and I will hopefully land in KL for a belated honeymoon tour of Malaysia and Singapore. We would love to know where Taylor may be dining next week . Hopefully, we can introduce ourselves. Subscribers NE & SQL.
Enjoy your visit. I have no idea where I will dine next week. 😂
I was there in 1967 loved the country. They all treated me very nice. Our money was worth a lot more there. They love Americans. Beautiful WwIi memorial in the city.
he may look to get a thai LTR visa as a stop gap to not have to travel back to the states. Right now I think that MOTAC is not accepting applications until the final versions have been approved.
That was a great interview! Thanks, Andrew. I'm glad to see more Americans choosing to live in Malaysia for retirement, and Jeff seems like a great person to get to know. I haven't decided yet if I will relocate to Malaysia later in life. For now, I'm staying put in Seattle because I love the weather here. However, I will visit Malaysia to see the family at least once a year. I hope we can meet up for lunch when I get back in 2025. Take care.
I hope so too!
A problem of dogs in close contact of condos can be the incessant barking. We were in a condo in Canada with a neighbor's constant barking dog. Late at night. Something of a nightmare getting the Board to do something.
I’ve been there too. 😂
100 lbs, wow .. Only 7 day quarantine, that's great .. (5 k sq ft house in Malaysia wow) .. Might need a "Dog Sitter" if you travel ..
Lots of places have pet hotels in Malaysia.
There's one near where he lives. So its easy actually.
LOOKING FOR RETIREMENT SPOT THAT PROVIDES COLORS / PEACE / EXCITEMENT/ NATURE ? FLY OVER SEE THE REALITY. ALL GOOD PEOPLE ARE MOST WELCOME BY GOOD & FRIENDLY MALAYSIANS.
Wow santa fe is awesome
Great interview. What are the income requirements for Malaysia and the amount required to deposit into a bank? Thank you!
New rules pending.
Andrew you were an honoured guest of Jeff's as you have the best guest room
@@maytan1622 Absolutely! ☺️
The book would be great!
Would be interesting to hear some stories about being a judge
I think so too!
Sounds like there's going to be a very long queue for the new MM2H, that is if they ever finalize it...
I like Jeff's shirt!
How does the weather in Penang compare to KL, i.e. the heat and humidity year round??
Not too different
