I mean, this guy is friends with Swain and Darius is his brother! Clearly the new rulers are great if Draaaaaven approves!
She might have been loyal to Noxus under Darkwill, but maybe not loyal to Darkwill himself. Many of the Noxian characters from back then were also loyal to the Empire and still turned on him, including Swain and Darius. As Ambessa seems to embody the traditional Noxian values that Swain brought back, as opposed to the corrupted ones from Darkwill, I actually see her aligning more with the new regime in the future. It also makes sense for her son to have died by speaking up against Darkwill, for example, as he was very paranoid by the end and likely didn't take criticism well. Meanwhile, even if Swain isn't opposed to execute traitors or conspirators, I don't think he would kill someone for simply disagreeing with him or whatever (at least considering pre-Arcane lore). Of course, we don't know the exact details of what he did, so who knows.

I think she's actually good for the game if I'm being honest, she's a fighter that lacks cc, she looks like what ksante would be if he had his all out form separate from his tank form, I really like how she has to be aggressive to keep dashing and keep spamming abilities, it seems like her skill floor is a bit high, but her skill ceiling is much higher
Personally I feel people are overreacting to the whole dash on every ability meaning 5-7 dashes overall but she has all damage, no real CC and want to go all in on attack. Plus she looks so much fun to play, so can’t wait to try
True she has no real way of getting to the backline other than her ult also which is a very thin skill shot her early damage is pretty mediocre, her mobility is tied to her damage so she can't just spam her spell fast to backline without all her cd being up if she misses ult she doesn't do alot of damage if she goes bruiser, and lethality make her easy to jump since she isn't good 2v1 if anyone can hit there CC, also she need to auto attack unlike what riot put out of her 2v1ing a Jax and xin Jax will be a pretty good counter since when she goes in he can e bait her auto then just wail on her since she won't have the energy to fight

Having played both as and against her, people focus on the wrong things. Her dashes aren't the problem at all. Her Q damage is the biggest issue imo. Level one she can kill a bruiser in 2 rotations of her Q without even getting close plus she can dash back if they try to punish. She can bully you out of lane instantly if she abuses it off cooldown. The max health damage on an energy champion's low cooldown ability is just too much.

As I told my friend last night: I don’t mind dashing, I don’t mind mobile champions, as long as it serves a *purpose*; like Kled, for example! His mobility is all about going in and being aggressive, and that’s great! But like Fizz, where his mobility makes him *immune to all abilities and attacks for a decent amount of time that ALSO does damage?!* yeah that’s a little much (it’s a bit of an issue with Ekko as well a la his ult, but I think it’s about the timing with it, so it’s a bit more forgivable for me). idk if it's a hot take but for a character I feel like Ambessa is really... boring? Like I just look at her don't really get why she should be interesting enough to make into a playable character. And I get it, we don't need to have a super unique person from the world of Runeterra all the time but it feels like they just dropped the ball on making you care about her. This especially feels weird considering how much stuff they've been pushing for her lore wise. Y'know it's funny Kled was the last "true Noxian" before Ambessa, and yet the two still hold pretty different views on what a "true Noxian" is. Like, if you just compare their lines for Riven - Ambessa has nothing but disdain for her being a traitor, whereas she's the ONLY Noxian Kled has any respect for.
Her not having the mask is a + for me personally, I think it looks tacky af and doesn't mesh at all with the color design of the rest of the champion. I think people are overreacting to her gameplay her entire kit hinges on her having good numbers, unlike everyones favorite or most hated champion ksante who regardless of numbers is inherently oppressive due to the nature of his playstyle and kit. This is going to sound bad but I really hope she doesn't end up begin good in low elo because then she will likely end up in the same state as naafiri and briar which are borderline grief picks if your above diamond because they were nerfed into the ground because low elo.
I know a lot of people have been complaining about her kit but honestly I love her design and gameplay, will I play her? probably not. will she be balanced around the highest level of play? probably. I do love the idea of a character with simple skills that has a high skill ceiling though and I REALLY love that her design is so different from every other human female champion. I think her walk animation is an homage to Shyvana. Her weapons are called drakehounds, so it would be cool if the proper stance for wielding them was based off dragons.
I think her ult hitbox might work like Leona's... E? Or whatever it is, where even if it hits you, it keeps going to see if it hits anyone behind you, then, after it's done, you travel to the furthest one hit so you technically have time to walk out of it after being it but her stun lingers until the animation is done, so you actually hit them on time but then she just waits a bit a to travel and you get this "wait huh? I was.. Outside of the hitbox?" feeling that you get with Leona's hitbox, and why it might feel like bs

I have a way to make her dashes balanced. Make it so she can dash with every ability, but she can only dash in the direction of an enemy. Easy. She´s still super mobile, super aggresive, but she can´t use that mobility to be obnoxious. This way, you always know where she´s gonna dash to.
@@Trevan2412 Skarner had far more issues to fix and he turned into a whole new character. Shyvana has far less issues to fix and a far clearer design goal to reach, they don't need to give her a whole new story and gameplay and lore, they just need to update it and bring it all to modern standards.
My perspective on her. I personally think everyone is overreacting a bit, as per typical with the community going nuts over a champ they still haven't figured out as usual. The green fur honestly doesn't bug me too much either cause I could've sworn noxus HAS a little green to they're coloring, even kled does too; I just see as that hidden color that doesn't show up much but IS there. The 30% healing is a bit much but the armor pen makes sense a bit, she's a toplane champ and as such, is fighting against other bruiser/fighters and tanks. I don't think she has max health in her kit so she's just pure damage, one steel plate and she tickles tanks, plus it's her ultimate passive so she doesn't even have it off the back like a certain other noxian I hate does... As for a bad taste, that's just a given, everyone has a certain champion they despise, there are people who HATE Anivia despite her not ever being remotely broken or even top tier ever and is actually balanced unlike half the other midlaners. I can't fucking stand irelia but in lore they're alright to me
I actually like that she doesn't have a mask because I actually like seeing her aging and scarring, I also think the gold just doesn't mesh well with the rest of the design color wise.
The thing is with buff women, now Riot is allowing it for kinda of a meme culture... and Renata, Illaoi, Ambessa are in the boat of Dommy mommy aesthetic so they are not so different apart. Exceptions like Vi or female buff characters that are ugly could help to aliviate this new kinda shallow diveriity.
I'm not so woried about her as I was for ksante. One thing is that she has virtually no meaningful cc. I mean her ult is a 1 second stun on a single target and it's very hard to hit and she has a slow but that's really it, unlike ksante who has tons of consistent cc options. Also, she does good aoe damage but it isn't that exceptional and isnt really bursty. For example akali or yone(who also has meaningful aoe cc), can burst and combo your whole team without taking any meaningful damage, while ambessa would have to fight and survive for a long time for that to happen and she can't really collectively destroy enemies, she can only really slowly whittle down teams while slightly bursting one enemy. Also, her dashes require her to be in combat so it's not like she can just run away forever or chase from miles away like the aforementioned champions, its purely combat mobility like a lucian or fiora. She seems like she'll be pretty fair because if she can't do damage or tank she'll be useless but if she gets ahead shell be super strong.
About your analysis of Ambessa referring to Mel in the past tense, she could likely be referring to the fact that Mel resents her and seemed to try to cut herself off from her family.
I like Ambessa, but it feels really weird that in the time when ADCs are already underperforming, they release a character that seems explicitly made to counter ADCs
No need to theorize about Ambessa's role in the show from the fact that she is a champion. We do see in a bunch of different teasers and trailers for season 2, that she is bringing in tons of Noxian soldiers, and eventually declares martial law. Whether that is for the whole City, or just for Piltover or just for Zaun, is unclear. And it makes me think that either Riot actually had the balls to kill off Mel, so Ambessa's furious and has to step in herself, or that most of the council is gone, so she does this to bring order back more quickly. Or both.
Ambessa cannot possibly be a villain since she has basically no beef with Vi, Cait or Jinx. At best, she would try to 'invade' piltover and so Cait and Vi would act. That being said, my bank is on Singed. Viktor might assume a sort of anti-hero role, but at this they could do with him whatever atp. His canon got fucked so royally that I don't think he will be this clear-cut big bad he will have nuance bcuz one of his friends died, and actually he's the hero since he will make people's pain and suffering go away or some variation of this.

idk if it's a hot take but for a character I feel like Ambessa is really... boring? Like I just look at her don't really get why she should be interesting enough to make into a playable character. And I get it, we don't need to have a super unique person from the world of Runeterra all the time but it feels like they just dropped the ball on making you care about her. This especially feels weird considering how much stuff they've been pushing for her lore wise. Almost feels like they went 'Aww shoot, we didn't really make her important enough in Arcane so now we need to give her extra contents to care about her.' Like I said, idk if this is a hot take but she feels just boring, like her character archetype is just Noxus woman who is very Noxian.
Y'know it's funny Kled was the last "true Noxian" before Ambessa, and yet the two still hold pretty different views on what a "true Noxian" is.
Like, if you just compare their lines for Riven - Ambessa has nothing but disdain for her being a traitor, whereas she's the ONLY Noxian Kled has any respect for.
Her not having the mask is a + for me personally, I think it looks tacky af and doesn't mesh at all with the color design of the rest of the champion.
I think people are overreacting to her gameplay her entire kit hinges on her having good numbers, unlike everyones favorite or most hated champion ksante who regardless of numbers is inherently oppressive due to the nature of his playstyle and kit. This is going to sound bad but I really hope she doesn't end up begin good in low elo because then she will likely end up in the same state as naafiri and briar which are borderline grief picks if your above diamond because they were nerfed into the ground because low elo.
Ambessa is really cool and fun and i hope she gets a small animation update to differentiate from shyvana but otherwise i think shes fine

I know a lot of people have been complaining about her kit but honestly I love her design and gameplay, will I play her? probably not. will she be balanced around the highest level of play? probably. I do love the idea of a character with simple skills that has a high skill ceiling though and I REALLY love that her design is so different from every other human female champion. Also if they make shyvana buff and people are starting to receive these other body type/portrayals of women it makes me hopeful that kaisa can one day get a proper monster-esque skin

you didnt watch the series ? Ambessa is in Noxus and Mel in Piltover, Mel not only gets the money "the invest" for the war/family but also in the long term is the key to develop modern weapons or even she could "open the gates" to Noxus if they want to invade them

I think her walk animation is an homage to Shyvana. Her weapons are called drakehounds, so it would be cool if the proper stance for wielding them was based off dragons.
I think her ult hitbox might work like Leona's... E? Or whatever it is, where even if it hits you, it keeps going to see if it hits anyone behind you, then, after it's done, you travel to the furthest one hit so you technically have time to walk out of it after being it but her stun lingers until the animation is done, so you actually hit them on time but then she just waits a bit a to travel and you get this "wait huh? I was.. Outside of the hitbox?" feeling that you get with Leona's hitbox, and why it might feel like bs

I have a way to make her dashes balanced. Make it so she can dash with every ability, but she can only dash in the direction of an enemy. Easy. She´s still super mobile, super aggresive, but she can´t use that mobility to be obnoxious. This way, you always know where she´s gonna dash to.

My perspective on her. I personally think everyone is overreacting a bit, as per typical with the community going nuts over a champ they still haven't figured out as usual. The green fur honestly doesn't bug me too much either cause I could've sworn noxus HAS a little green to they're coloring, even kled does too; I just see as that hidden color that doesn't show up much but IS there. The 30% healing is a bit much but the armor pen makes sense a bit, she's a toplane champ and as such, is fighting against other bruiser/fighters and tanks. I don't think she has max health in her kit so she's just pure damage, one steel plate and she tickles tanks, plus it's her ultimate passive so she doesn't even have it off the back like a certain other noxian I hate does... As for a bad taste, that's just a given, everyone has a certain champion they despise, there are people who HATE Anivia despite her not ever being remotely broken or even top tier ever and is actually balanced unlike half the other midlaners. I can't fucking stand irelia but in lore they're alright to me

I'm not so woried about her as I was for ksante. One thing is that she has virtually no meaningful cc. I mean her ult is a 1 second stun on a single target and it's very hard to hit and she has a slow but that's really it, unlike ksante who has tons of consistent cc options. Also, she does good aoe damage but it isn't that exceptional and isnt really bursty. For example akali or yone(who also has meaningful aoe cc), can burst and combo your whole team without taking any meaningful damage, while ambessa would have to fight and survive for a long time for that to happen and she can't really collectively destroy enemies, she can only really slowly whittle down teams while slightly bursting one enemy. Also, her dashes require her to be in combat so it's not like she can just run away forever or chase from miles away like the aforementioned champions, its purely combat mobility like a lucian or fiora. She seems like she'll be pretty fair because if she can't do damage or tank she'll be useless but if she gets ahead shell be super strong.
About your analysis of Ambessa referring to Mel in the past tense, she could likely be referring to the fact that Mel resents her and seemed to try to cut herself off from her family.

No need to theorize about Ambessa's role in the show from the fact that she is a champion. We do see in a bunch of different teasers and trailers for season 2, that she is bringing in tons of Noxian soldiers, and eventually declares martial law. Whether that is for the whole City, or just for Piltover or just for Zaun, is unclear. And it makes me think that either Riot actually had the balls to kill off Mel, so Ambessa's furious and has to step in herself, or that most of the council is gone, so she does this to bring order back more quickly. Or both.

Ambessa cannot possibly be a villain since she has basically no beef with Vi, Cait or Jinx. At best, she would try to 'invade' piltover and so Cait and Vi would act. That being said, my bank is on Singed. Viktor might assume a sort of anti-hero role, but at this they could do with him whatever atp. His canon got fucked so royally that I don't think he will be this clear-cut big bad he will have nuance bcuz one of his friends died, and actually he's the hero since he will make people's pain and suffering go away or some variation of this.
