For everybody asking about Varg's vocals let me just give my two cents on that. In my opinion, trying to emulate Varg perfectly is going to end up with you hurting yourself. A) because you have your own natural tone, B) I don't think he was using pristine technique and C) post "production" (fucking lol) accounts for a lot of it. That being said, what helps me to get close to his tone quality in a relatively healthy way is to use what I call mixed drive. You're going to be using your standard false cord growl and adding in a nasal snarl. You're going to raise your soft palate and place your voice as far forward as you possibly can while adding in a rattle from your soft palate and nasal cavity. The best way to find is this is by "snoring" through your nose. Start with your growl and slowly add in the forward placement and snarl very gradually until you find the sweet spot. I know that's not a great explanation but vocals are very personal so what feels a certain way for me will feel different for you. But I think the key to Varg's vocals is a fuck ton of nasal resonance while maintaining a very solid false cord growl underneath. I know I'm hitting it right when my placement is so focused and powerful that it makes my nose and the roof of my mouth tickle.

Good day, sir. You made a great video, there was nice lines about holding air, vocal warm up. But to be truly genuine I must admit that your vocal style has little to do with any eerie screams or falsetto-screams. Surely, there are many individual style in music, I mean, some use clean vocals, others whisper in the mic, some do that legendary fry screams that I think everybody hoped to see in the video. Correct me if I am wrong but there's no fry-screaming from you, it should've sound like frying something on a pan. Well you demonstrated a strange wheezing not very similar to anything black metal. It is in fact putting a strain on your voice, moreover it can be a reason for some to achieve the same tone as yours and take damage due to it. I seriously hope you'll revise this topic someday and do a proper video on the subject.
I respect your opinion. And to be honest, I don't even know what fry-screaming is. And I will more than likely do more videos on this topic, as it is indeed a unique vocal style. As far as damaging my voice, there's nothing that I do that will damage my voice (or would have been damaged a long time ago). It could be that I'm not explaining my technique well enough, and need to get better at that. But I'm super careful when I'm singing my own tracks like this, and the methods I'm using have worked for me.
I go deeper int that throughout the video as it's not about an actual scream. I guess it's more of what they call 'fry' vocals (which I only become familiar with that term after making this video. I also have another similar video of death metal growls that may help here: th-cam.com/video/ZPF21coAh34/w-d-xo.html

I actually came here so that I could do covers of early bmth songs
Hopefully this helps a little. It may not be the exact style, but you can use the tactics in this video to pull it off
yeah i came here because i searched for screamo metal scream 101 videos and couldn't find anything practical. so i came to a conclusion that it was black metal screams coz otherwise i couldn't find anything that would give me the chance to do so.helped a lot. cheers m8!
Hey thanks man

Thanks I wanna sound like Ihsahn from Early Emperor

Nightwish 🖤
They're one of my favorite bands!
How do you scream so close to the mic 🎤 and the volume on the track isn't massive? I've been confused on it.
I go deeper int that throughout the video as it's not about an actual scream. I guess it's more of what they call 'fry' vocals (which I only become familiar with that term after making this video.
I also have another similar video of death metal growls that may help here: th-cam.com/video/ZPF21coAh34/w-d-xo.html
oh,before l forget,nice shirt,l enjoy nightwish too
I'm a Nightwish fanatic!!
@@jasonstallworth me too,i listen that band since my 16 years old, reminds me good times of my adolescence

i’m aspiring to be a vocalist but i got no one to start a band with 😅
Oh, there are plenty of folks out there wanting to start bands! You'll find them!
One man band it dude, it’s harder to get ok at guitar and bass and drums but in the end you have total control of your art, good luck dude 👍🏿
@@killerx9009 yeah it kind of restricts you from playing live although I’ve done a couple of small shows playing and singing to my album’s backing tracks. It’s not ideal but it can work.
I wanna make my own music however, I hope with work for raw bm style like old darkthrone or Horde I believe it is one about be organic. I am not here, to push my belief system I am a christian now and I am working on a project with Satan Destroyers Enochiam. I need some tutorial skills on death grunts and black.
Dude, it's cool what you're doing! Yeah, you really want to find your own voice and let that be a natural thing! One of the black metal vocalists I really admire, in a creative and organic sense, is Dani Filth

Hey I just found out you a JOGGER lover 💕💕💕
Oh dude, I don't run at all! lol
do you use any vocal fry or just gurtel
Dude, to be honest, I don't know what either of those are! I really just started putting together my own techniques that don't kill my voice, which turns out to be more of a breathy and airy method
@@jasonstallworth oh ok thanks
