Its shields were stronger and reactive similar to modern trophy system and ciws(they werent always active and snapped on when a projectile over a certain speed was detected). And they had adaptive algorithms that near instantly adapted across every sent whenever the s-3 used new tactics.
I remember in the very last mission of halo 4 if you look carefully you can see aggressor sentinels flying around in the distance youll even notice they have different color lights matching the prometheans in said level.

I personally call the unknown sentinel from halo legends the "Quasar sentinal" Its basically like a scarab but it can fly. In the film it looks like its being flanked by all types of sentinels for extra protection, its a possibility that it inbodies a contender class' of many Excalibur when taking on an onslaught of flood or an executioner's are when targeting an exposed key mind biomass. :)
We know Steward Sentinels are in Halo Infinite due to the Slipspace Engine reveal back in 2018. You can actually see it underwater. So that's gonna be awesome to finally, after all these years, see it in-game! I really wish the Autosentry returned in Halo 5. Soldiers at the least should've been able to summon them. I really hope Prometheans can summon Autosentries in Infinite!

Last mission of Halo 4, when you first see the didactic controlling his ship; you’ll notice massive “carrier” looking constructs floating around the area. Every now and then two panels open and sentinels fly out of it. What are they?

There is a name for the unknown sentinel, called the vanguard sentinel, if you refer to Sins of the prophets. Which are very powerful and tough sentinels.
Seeing them Halo 2 and Halo 3 gameplay clips along with some Halo Wars took me back to the Good ol' XBOX LIVE days way back when in 2008-2012 when online gaming was at it's greatest for Halo gaming online. Matchmaking, Lone Wolf, Capture the flag, King of the hill, Infection(when it used to be with energy swords), you name it, oh and Forge bruh. Many good Machinimas came out of it: Arby n' The Chief, Red vs Blue, etc., before Machinima became "corrupt" after eventually getting greedy before being purchased by AT&T, and the whole channel being taken down, deleting all of it's content from its golden days when the brand used to be awesome. 2008-2012 was a good time to be alive as a Halo gamer man, it was a good time to be alive as a Halo gamer, to play Halo online, and watch me sum Halo machinima. So much nostalgia from this video, so much nostalgia, takes me back to the good ol' days of Halo XBOX Live.
One thing that 343 really bungled imo, is the brutalist design of the forerunners. They weren't the ones with the sleek designs, that was the covenant. The forerunners were the ones with the super functional, hyper advanced, awe inspiring, yet incredibly cold and harsh designs.
12:47 Why? We have never seen The Flood use grenades. It would make more sense if they caught rockets... more annoying sure but being annoying is pretty much the purpose of the Halo 4 Prometheans.

Also given how the Flood could swing Star Roads into targets and "break reality" on occasions in the Forerunner Flood War, I think grenades would be the last thing Knights needed to worry about... especially with how often they teleport to somewhere an Elite could walk to in the same amount of time and how Watchers can both shield and revive them.
I think you forgot something about some sentinels in Halo Wars 2 that are capable of deploying wide area shields to protect a group of units. Another thing is Watcher Sentinels in Halo 4 were capable of resurrecting Promethean Knights if their core (shining orange orb thingy) was still remaining upon death.
It was always odd to me how the Onyx Sentinels are so powerful and adaptable yet they are only seen on Onyx itself. It's odd that they were not the standard across the board

They would. "Storm" was a specialist rank during the days of the Covenant. I just sort of evolved into the base rank in the post-war era, at least for Jul 'Mdama's Covenant.

The Sentinel Beam was shown as a returning weapon in Infinite multiplayer. I am actually pretty hyped to return to the Halo games after Reach.

What we see in the games is often only a small sampling of what can happen in the lore.
