I know his heart was beating FAST AF when he looked up and saw a grown man standing there in a costume. His whole demeanor changed REAL fast.
I think he must have thought that it was an idiotic prank at first by the fact that he initially did respond normally while he was washing his arms in the bathtub. He probably thought "okay, this is embarrassing and the joke's on me. I won't be getting any sex tonight". Then, as he saw more of the predator patrol approach him in a serious manner did he finally realize that he was in deep shit, and it was game over from that point on as he wasn't going to be leaving unscathed.

I saw the same problems you did. The girl shouldn’t have gotten within his reach while he was in the bathtub like that. So what if she wasn’t alone!? He could have jumped her, banged her head on the wall and tried to drown her before anyone could intervene. She could have been seriously hurt. Then they let him go into his backpack not knowing if there was a gun or another knife. They put that glass bottle in front of him, giving him another possible weapon. Lastly, it’s very apparent they didn’t coordinate with or notify LAPD In any way. I’m not surprised that Gascon probably didn’t want to prosecute this guy. But you’re on the borderline of entrapment if on whatever app they “met” this guy on, the girl said she was 18. A defense attorney would argue entrapment, and say that the girl was lying to him about being 13 to be kinky. Like I said. It’s borderline.. But why give the Defense Attorney any possible ammo!? No wonder LAPD refused to arrest any further suspects. They did this all wrong! Very unfortunate and disappointing.

My nieces are turning 10 soon and even my nephews get these talks regularly about the dangers of the internet. Being in cyber security for almost 15 years now I always teach them the joys of having interconnected world but I never forget to go over things like this. I also go through their phones regularly as I watch them all 5 days a week for the last two years. My youngest sister is 22 and I still to this day refer to her and her friends as kids because that's what they are to me. Doesn't matter that they are in their 20s I still think they look like children so I really cannot understand what is wrong in these preds heads to begin with. I just wish all young people safety and protection and to use common sense and not live in fear and enjoy life just don't be stupid and invite this danger into your lives because what the pred is capable of isn't ever truly known. A good defense team could rip this whole case to shreds on technicalities and the district knows it. He should’ve at least gotten a violation of his probation for the weapon at minimum tho
I wish they would coordinate these things with law-enforcement, and play down the comedy routines during the operation, so that they could get some charges to stick. Maybe they have tried to get law-enforcement to participate in advance, but have been turned down.
I dont know how America works, but the Parole officer and the jail could have said that he is ours now and had the police records deleted.

I will say though those police vehicles seemed a bit unusual, I couldn't make out exactly what it said, but it looked like it simply said "police" rather than like l.a.p.d or sheriff's deputy or whatever. @@supershasha No, but I do have 3 members of law enforcement in my family so I understand things like the rules of evidence and why these amateur stings almost always result in cases that cannot be prosecuted. I also know that these people understand that, because in at least 2 other videos police officers have explained that to them. If they want these people to actually get justice what they have to do is either learn and follow the rules of evidence and interrogation themselves OR work with the police from the very beginning. They won't do that, because they don't care about actually seeking justice, they care about money. One thing they would have to do is not publish these videos until after the trial, which could take YEARS... they won't do that because it gets in the way of them making money from their videos.

It wasn't "his choice alone" to go through with this. The decoy made choices as well. If you think about it for a while I'm sure you'd agree. If you turn the scenario into a hypothetical where you can freely adjust the ages of the decoy and the predator, wouldn't you always put the full blame on the party who is older even if everything else remains the same?

Even though she was telling him she was 13 when he contacted her originally, it was based on her profile being 18. They are the ones who offered to send him an Uber all of that way and paid for it to get him there. They basically talked him into it. That's just a couple of things.

Unfortunately these catches done on TH-cam often lead to too many lose ends for a defense to latch onto and the district knows it
They probably claimed entrapment, since it wasn't an official, law-enforcement, sanctioned operation. His lawyers might even make a fuss about the hot bathtub water causing "injury" or "distress"
I wish they would work with the police in these cases, making sure everything was done to the letter. But it might be that they've reached out to local law-enforcement agencies and been turned down.
