i saw the newer videos and i was happy that someone is doing good work. But after watching this...this is straight up unprofessional. The wife could've absolutely killed herself and you guys would have blood on your hands. While i understand, the guy is guilty but it's really obvious that you guys were having a power trip there. You guys basically antagonized the wife.
Then i see this response.. while I understand the channel has operating cost. You guys literally have to respond to the criticism on your website that requires people to sign up to look at for "free".. collecting personal information while promoting cyber security software. Come on.

@@JS-wp4gsimagine being the parent of a 13 year old and dispatch didn't take it seriously! Imagine being the 13 year old caught up in a bad situation and you pray that your parents caught on to save you knowing your fate and you screwed up! Imagine surviving an assault and not being taken seriously only to find out years later he raped and murdered a young child only to put a gun to his head like the coward he is!! I would hardly call catching predators in the act a non emergency!! What if it was your child?! Pretty sure you would think differently! Getting these predators off the street is beyond important! If it wasn't her, he would have done it over and over again and the outcome could have been way worse in that most predators only escalate with each victim!! I'm so grateful for teams like this that take initiative when others let things slide through the cracks until it's too late!! It could be a stranger, a relative, neighbor or friend! I for one am for the children! I've protectected many children in my life, but one circumstance really sticks out. My son called to get a safe place for a 17 year young lady. She was beaten to a pulp, bloody and broken. I first was trying to clean up blood dripping from her. Called the cops and was put on non emergency. The father brought his brother who claimed to be a pi. The were smashing my garage door and front door trying to break in! I had my sons friends get her out the back door and go to my friends house to keep her safe. My 18 year old son stayed with me to when I opened door. This was after 2nd call to cops for emergency assistance. They left before cops came of course. The cops went to the safe house I sent her to. Took my statement and the 5 teens statements on these maniacs. The girl went into protective custody after she was rushed to hospital. She went on to graduate, never spoke to family members again and is now thriving as a mother herself with a college degree in psychology helping other kids! I'd say that non emergency call I made was the best decision I've made! Zero regrets!! Saving one child at a time is way better than closing your eyes to what goes on in this world starting with the children!!

Response time was very ridiculous, but as far as them wanting their phones, they were probably trying to do their job there. I think they need to make sure the messages are legit since I think you can create fake text messages. That way the detectives have a good case against the predator. A good enough lawyer defending the predator could win in court if the case isn't handled properly and there isn't enough evidence to prosecute him. That's just how I'm seeing it. I am going to start this by saying this:
I love what you guys do. I've been a viewer of yours for a long time. I deeply admire what you do for scam victims, and your production quality has gotten insanely amazing over the last year. We all know your hearts are in the right place, but I have kept my comments positive and supportive for the last time.
Yes, this asshole deserves to be locked away for the rest of his life. He's a monster who has absolutely no remorse. It's fucking disgusting that he's not only seeking to prey on children, but that he has children of his own. He was drooling over the chance to assault a 13 year old girl and only said he had a 14 year old son. It wasn't revealed that he had a teenage daughter until the wife got on the phone. I'm glad you guys exposed him.
However, you went about it all wrong. And this has been a growing issue in your videos. You're leaning on shock value, and that much is very clear by the way you treated the wife and mother. I'm all about humiliating a predator, but the family are victims too. It's understandable that the subject's family would be in disbelief that someone they love is capable of such things. You've confronted family members inappropriately in the past, and that's not okay.
The wife should have been notified by the authorities. Not you. I agree that it is absolutely disgusting that the police didn't response fast enough. Ashton was very much in the right for being pissed about it, but not a single one of your team members had any right to call the wife like that. She could have gotten herself and her kids hurt or worse by driving under distress, and I don't even need to get into how she threatened to hurt/unalive herself. I got physically ill hearing the children learn about this in the background. You guys aren't qualified to talk to victimized families like this. The predator is a MONSTER for putting his family in this position, but you guys didn't help them in that regard.
I also think Art and Ashton got a liiiiittle too self-indulgent laying into this guy. For a good 20 minutes, I was all for it. But once you guys involved the family, it stopped being fun to watch the guy fall apart. Mostly because the family was falling apart; I couldn't give two shits about the guy and would have loved a few pot shots myself. But there's a line, guys.
I don't like that you put abusing the wife behind a pay wall. That was extremely tone-deaf, and I'm glad I don't pay for your service, because it already feels dirty just seeing Ashton yell at the wife for only a few seconds. I know you have to make money at some point for production and employment, but this is a borderline sell-out.
I admire the fuck out of Ashton and Art for their passion. You guys do great work, but you also need to seriously reevaluate how you go about busting people. You may have caused severe damage here, and it could have been a LOT worse if the wife actually hurt herself.
That being said, this hasn't made me any less a fan of your work. But I am definitely not going to be paying for your streaming service. Not until you guys polish your approach.
Just please be more considerate in the future. You need to handle things like this a bit more delicately. This guy might not see any jail time at all because of how this was handled on camera. Defense attorneys will have a field day with this video.

As a SA therapist it's disappointing to see how the wife was told. Best practice is to have a police liaison officer or a social care professional to disclose to the family and to deliver crisis care for them; particularly when there are children in the family. I’m not defending them, but I know why they may have acted aggressively.
Adults preying on children, it leads to horrific consequences for the children.

@CA-qi4gi I hope you are doing okay, I too am a survivor of horrific child sexual abuse, and I understand no matter how much counselling we do as survivors there are always moments even at our age we struggle with trauma even now... and it's difficult for people who haven't suffered at the hands of those, as children, we should be able to trust. I do think, because they did have the home address - I really believe they should have had support there for the wife and son - professional support for them. The perpetrator has an incurable disease, and I think it's sad there is no effective treatment for these sick humans - isolation from the world at large, or any others like them... a prison in the desert, isolated from the world and others of the same ilk, so they can't enjoy the retelling of their sickening excitement even in the retelling.
I only watch these particular Trilogy shows on this subject, because it helps me to feel some justice, somewhere is being done in this world. Thank you Trilogy for that. And I too continue with therapy like you said you have, you and I are worthy of genuine and kind love and protection from the majority of decent people in this world we all live in.

This is so disturbing, from the actual predator, to the confrontation from the team, to the police response. My heart goes out to the family. I saw the extended version on the website and it was absolutely disgusting how Ashton berated the wife, who was clearly traumatized and not in her right mind. I admire predator catchers and their noble work, but this was handled so poorly it seems less noble and more exploitive for views. Like dude… “bring the kids”?! You gotta be fucking kidding me.

Once she calls Ashton a "pendejo (asshole in Spanish)", thats literally his right to cuss at her back for talking this useless nonsense shit to the guys who is literally exposing the husband who wants to have sex with a 13 yr old, and NOW she wants to defend her husband over HER reputation and the kids which LITERALLY the video has nothing to do with that and her kids are NOT involved with this case is DISGUSTING of her as well for not understanding what they are doing, I dont blame Ashton for yelling back at her because seriously, she's not getting the WHOLE picture of this FR!!

The first part of this video made me sick because of how gross the predator is, but the rest of the video really made me sick for how everything was handled. While I was upset with police not showing up, not contacting them in advance and then proceeding to curse them out could only have led to a slower resolution. Then the phone call to the wife never should have happened unless they had someone there with her to ensure the safety of her and the kids. Not to mention there seemed to be little to no immediate protection for Courtney had the predator jumped her at any point. At least with Chris Hansen videos, there's always a physical separation plus a very quick getaway for the decoy, then police waiting outside after the short interview. The predator deserves every last moment of distress in front of the camera, but it felt repetitive and unnecessary after a while rather than just police taking him away had they been prepared in advance. Idk, this just wasn't it, and left me feeling yucky.

From a mental health care professional, this is so dysfunctional on so many fronts. It should be a lesson in all the things one should never do in a take down. First and foremost, you NEVER as an unlicensed, untrained individual call a spouse and give this kind of information over the phone. 1. You have no idea of their current mental state. 2. You have no idea of the accessibility to weapons. 3. You do not know if children are present. You also are very unaware of the culpability to which you could be held should a person commit suicide. It just seems this is not well thought out but more of a surface plan of how fast can I get a show together. If you feel compelled to do this, I do not understand why you do not go through the police academy and become a detective. It seems like what you want but you don't want to be bothered with the process. So, you will just do it the way you want to. If you ever do this to a wealthy individual it will end you because there are so many areas where ya'll could all be sued, a person could keep you tied up in court for a very long time. The mental and verbal abuse the pedophile endures for over an hr would open many doors for litigation. Regardless of how officers feel about criminals, even they are no longer allowed to do the verbal abuse. So do you really think you would be given more leadway? No. Some states could charge you with kidnapping and abuse. I just hate to see you trying to do what you perceive as a good deed go bad for you. After seeing how unwelcomed and unwanted your help was wanted in this video by the police, I can only surmise how happy they would be to testify against you as well. I mean at one time you were all so animated toward one another that not a word could be understood by anyone. You were saying you are not taking my phone but with a court order they could have easily taken custody of it. Just good luck! Be informed!

i have to agree with you. i admire what these men do to take down scammers and pedophiles but the abuse to the man ( and yes his crime is heinous) is excessive and irresponsible. they have no right to ask him to call his wife for exactly the reasons you state. who knows what this kind of radioactive information could do to a person, unprepared and unsuspecting? keep up the work of trying to bring scammers and sexual predators to justice, but layoff on the abuse. you have no right. and ironically, and shocking as it may seem you run the risk of shifting sympathy to the perpetrator when you continue to subject that person to unyielding threats, dibasementent, and harsh abuse. the person is caught - their lives for all intents and purposes is about over they don't need you adding more cruelty to the mix.

they legit almost got her wife killed, how the fuck did they think calling her to scream in her face that her HUSBAND with whom she has CHILDREN is a paedo? Besides the fact that alarm bells should've rung when she started driving while clearly having a breakdown on the phone, the way they broke the news by itself was so blunt and traumatic that it could've pushed someone to just commit suicide. It does happen, more often than you would think.
I'll state the obvious - Martin deserves to go to jail. Straigh-up. But they had no right to illegally detain and verbally abuse him for hours, and i am not an expert on american law but in my country they'd get in A LOT of trouble for that, regardless of whether or not the predator is found guilty. And legally they also had absolutely no buisness telling the wife; besides the fact her husband hadn't been convicted yet, there could've been some very bad consequences.
The intention was good, but this video is an essay in why people shouldn't try to get justice by themselves and the consequences of unqualified attempts at law-enforcing. The police is right: how did you do this? How do we know this isn't a setup? Oh, you'll send me the screenshots, right, no one has ever faked that kind of stuff, right? After everything is accounted for, there is no 13 year old, only a girl committing a crime herself by lying about her age that says she has been sexting with a man via an anonimous messaging app.
This was a shitshow. The parts where martin talks to his wife on the phone are just heartbreaking. They made everything much more painful and traumatic than it had to be.

It also looked like you allowed one of his kids to read through some of the chat history after they got there. Then you include a clip at the end where you're telling his wife it's all going public whether she likes it or not. How many people did you verbally, emotionally, and psychologically abuse during this "noble" pursuit?

A few things I feel should maybe be different if you guys decide to try something like this again.
-I'd maybe try to work more directly with local law enforcement if you can to avoid the problems that you had in this video with getting people on the scene. Let them know when you're doing your thing and send in your evidence in advance so they can have people ready for you. Basically everything the cop told you to do because this is obviously not affective unless the only goal was to get views but I think y'all are better than that.
-I'd also probably call the cops earlier. Y'all shouting at this dude is good content and probably pretty cathartic but super unproductive at the end of the day.
-Lastly I'd let law enforcement talk to the creepers family because y'all did not handle that well at all and absolutely blew that situation up in a way that really did not need to happen or be published on the internet. Honestly pretty fucking gross that y'all actually went and published the worst day of that woman's life on your channel for what? because you thought it'd be good for views? Genuinely pretty disappointed in y'all for that. The more I think about it the worse I feel. Like, I cannot emphasise how much y'all fucked up by calling his wife and putting her through all of this like y'all have no idea wtf you're doing please don't do that shit again if you do more videos like this it's not worth it.

I'm sure it's not what you were intending but like I don't know what else you thought was going to happen! Please do better. Surely they knew this would rock her world and she suffers from anxiety already. There's ways professionals introduce this information and screaming at the family isn't it.
Also, the argument with the wife on the phone, from the short snippet I saw, seemed pretty disrespectful. Like catch the scumbag, but when the family, especially the wife who is a public educator, asks to not have the video posted it's probably because she could lose her job too.

80% of suicides are impulsive, split second decisions. They knew that calling the wife would have been a gong show, this is why when law enforcement agencies call the family about these matters they have a single dedicated person who speaks to the family in a calm, collected manner, usually without the accused in the background. They should have done that, it's so much better than having a crying wife, screaming that she's going to kill herself, driving down the highway, with her kids in the car, and 4 people and her husband yelling at her on the phone.

     1. Falsifying/exaggerating police report to elicit a faster police response. 2. Endangering the innocent wife and children of the alleged suspect. 3. Possible assault (34:52). 4. Defamation (if there are no official charges and no conviction in court, then calling and branding someone a child predator or child molester is at best defamation). 5. Unwillingness to turn in evidence in a timely manner where it can’t be construed as trying to tamper and breaking the chain of custody so they’re useless in any court proceedings and inadmissible. 6. obstruction of police investigation. 7. Threats and intimidation made to the wife. 8. while he could allegedly be guilty of what you accuse him of, you guys keep pushing him to incriminate himself under bullying and intimidation tactics which is actually a violation of the law (the right to remain silent/the right against self-incrimination). 9. Entrapment. 10. Doxxing. 11. A tinge of some racism when a Spanish speaker is being intimidated to speak English to his Spanish-speaking wife. 12. Being unnecessarily hostile to the response when police were just acting based on the information provided to them by dispatch of a non-emergency situation and when they do get there, you withhold evidence that they needed to get the suspect charged of what he’s being accused of. 13. As expected, he curled into a ball and wished the world away… which was nice to see! The authorities should have turned up at this point and moved everyone on imho.
The way Ashton spoke in the message to his wife was disrespectful and placed her at the same level of hatred as him which was entirely unfair. Courtney spoke much better to har!
The way this was dealt with will have caused even more trauma and hurt to his wife and kids than necessary and that just doesn’t sit right with me. You’re hurting his innocent family just to get back at him.
His only option once curled up was to commit suicide, which wouldnt punish him enough. You also risked the lives of his wife who showed signs of suicidal thoughts and his kids who were with her. If the police were the ones who informed the family, they would have had much more support in place for them.
    Just my 2cents…

There's also a danger that when prosecuted, his defence lawyers would jump all over this video. Issues of duress, entrapment, the right to a fair trial...even intentional infliction of emotional distress on the family. It could mean the difference between a verdict of guilty and not guilty. Anyone involved in ped0 hunting should at least seek legal advice first.

They should have made sure she had support and some distance from the children, so she could think about the best way to protect them emotionally.

You should not scream and shout at the person caught, it could always get spun around in court, let alone cause great stress to the suspect. (People in great stress do even more stupid stuff and could inflict harm on your crew.) Also calling the suspects' loved one and not letting the police deal with it was not a good idea since she threatened to kill herself with no officers at her home to stop her. Also excessive profanity on the 911 dispatch is a great way of getting your call skipped.

I don't think the American courts really care about the duress of the suspect, the proof from the phone would be enough even if they threw out all the confession as "inadmissible under duress"
Sucks for the woman but they aren't maker her commit the self not alive anymore, that's on the police to attend if instructed or her to detect her husband first, the exact same situation could have played out without them if she found his phone the day before.
In the UK anyway swearing won't get you cut off from 999, the call handlers do have rules but Police will try to attend even if it is flagged as a hoax call, swearing is actually one of the signs you are not in control and makes it more likely for a Police response. For example if they hear "I'm going to fucking kill her." being shouted angrily in the background they are going to attend probably faster than if someone really calmly rings up and they hear, "Yeah, I'm going to kill her." said casually. Though both will get a response.

You basically threatened him when you said that if you were in a different country you would be dead by now, and stalking is a crime, finding out where this guy lives and his wife's phone number is odd for a regular group of people to do. Confronting his wife was absurd too, that type of information is life changing, and then continuing by saying "bring your kid here too they need to see this".. imagine how traumatic that is to see as a child. "Constructive criticism" means to critique with the intention of improving whatever you are criticising even though you are showing them their faults. As a properly defined phrase, I'm sorry to let you know that it's not something that you can 'believe' in.

You were thinking with your emotions and not your brain...absolutely EMBARRASSING. Trying to sympathize with her when you have absolutely no idea about all the emotions she is feeling at that moment was incredibly insensitive. You should've just listened to law enforcement to prevent making a fool out of yourselves on camera. No right to even contact the wife or go to his house and making her come to the park was a horrible move. She clearly never wanted to talk to you guys from the beginning and you kept pushing. Watching you guys yell at her was disappointing, she could've hurt herself or even worse. I'm really disappointed with this team on this case. While getting a predator off the streets is a good thing, traumatising his family for youtube drama is not. His poor family are victims in this too and it was handled horribly. The poor wife sounded like she was having a nervous breakdown with no crisis councillor in attendence. While I understand the desire to name and shame, you've just likely caused a whole lot more grief for his family. He has teenage kids. What are the other kids at their school going to say when they find out their father is a child predator. It could scar them even more for life. What about his wife? She's a teacher. She could lose her job over this if the parents make a fuss and don't want her at their school. This was really uncomfortable and made me fell sick for them. You're doing a good thing but in the wrong way. Please don't do this again. It's troubles me this video is over 6 month old and still available in its entirety. I'm only a recent subscriber and this has made me seriously consider unsubscribing.

While I have zero concern for him whatsoever and I totally get that emotions are running high after having to deal with the digusting exchanges between him and the decoy for well over a month, the way you chose to inform his wife was appalling to say the least!! She is as much an innocent victim in this scenario as the 13 year old girl he thought he was meeting. She deserves as much sympathy and respect as his intended victim does. Instead she got treated with anything but simply because of her association to him. The way you handled this, anyone could have been mistaken for assuming she had some part in it and you were pissed off that you didn't catch her too. I have the upmost respect for your mission BUT on this occasion, you fucked up. Yes, you caught the lowlife, absolute credit where it's due, however, the way you treated his wife is beyond sickeningly disrespectful! You come out with how would the predator like it if it was their daughter being approached. . .where was that thought process in considering how his wife must have felt on the other end of the line during a totally unexpected phone call to be told her husband is in a park to meet an underage girl for sex? Edit - how far do you think you're gonna get btw swearing at police? Again, I DO understand the frustration and hightened emotions BUT you've been doing this for long enough now to keep those emotions in check and (just imitating you) do your fucking job!
