I've received a rat-tail and was surprised at just how bad they are... it was attached to a knock-off Scottish claymore; as you mentioned, it was intended for costume use at my wedding.

Hello, dear master, I want to buy a second-hand, used classic double shotgun. There are many rifle brands. I can't decide which brand of rifle to buy. Can you tell me the brand of the double trigger, solid, good shot, light quality classic shotgun? Which brand of double rifle do you recommend to buy? As an experienced gunsmith, what is your suggestion for me? Thank you.

I am not a gunsmith, only a hobbyist. A good used US brand of shotgun on a budget would be Savage/Stevens. On a bit more budget, an older Parker. Once you get into the European guns, the prices frequently get into the thousands. There are some good inexpensive Belgian guns, but it's hard to tell the good ones from the cheap ones without detailed knowledge, but if it looks loose and rattly, it's certainly something to avoid.
Double rifles are $$$$$$$. It's hard to find even used ones under several grand.

Are the rat tail tangs on the 1918 trench daggers any good? I would imagine that the solid brass handle/guard/knuckleduster helps.

Original or repro? The originals are pretty sturdy. I have examples of several.

@@SharpPointyThings Original. Although now that you mention it, are there any good repros?

@@katana1430 I'm not sure how durable the repros are, and they are not great as repros, either.

    What's a Pootie Tang?

I believe those come from Poon.

@@SharpPointyThings I was of the impression that Poon Tang is more dangerous to one's wallet, while Pootie Tang is more dangerous to one's mental state...

    Your "test" was defective

In what way? I put over 100 lbs of force on it. The guy who "Broke" one did the same "test" but used his fingers, which leads me to believe the knife was modified or defective.
The same test broke a cheap survival knife instantly.
There is no real world use which equates to sticking a knife in a vise and using a pipe for leverage. Though that has been done and the knife held up quite well, but was damaged.

Your comment, btw, offers nothing of use.
