I see that your video is 5 months old. I'm just now seeing it. I appreciate very much your professionalism in making this video. You are very articulate. It is further appreciated that you use no inappropriate lauguage, which unfortunately is very rare in trucking videos. TMC owns the equipment and therefore has the right to set certain standards for maintenance and appearance. I'll look for more of your videos. Be safe.
TMC is a great company. I've never driven for them but I have talked to some of the drivers are owner/operators and they all like it. I think its great that they demand such cleanliness, that's missing in this industry. Keep up the good work driver, you're doing a great job.
Thank you, I will. I don't mind the cleanliness requirements. That's how I maintain my personal vehicle and home, so it's the norm for me to uphold the company's standard with the truck. 😅
@@jerrywilcox9890so? I don't even drive for them but I understand why they drive slow. I drive for a small flatbed company and none of our trucks are governed but I run with TMC trucks all the time. Believe it or not going slow is actually relaxing.
Genuinely curious, im in the process of getting my CDL out of Jersey and am in contact with TMC starting my onboarding process for when i graduate. I have heard many different reviews some good some not soo good however, my biggest concern is them not "tolerating" or hiring individuals with dreadlocs such as myself. Do you or anyone in the comment section have any insight on this? I refuse to cut my locs for a job soo id like to know if im wasting my time, Thanks in advance. Stay safe 🫡
I’m staring my CDL training at the corporate office in Des Moines on Monday. Not sure if you’d know but figured I’d ask, can I test in a manual or do I have to test in an automatic?
It's difficult to give an accurate answer to that question. There are so many variables that can affect your pay. How long you stay on the road, what load you're hauling, the time of year, your specific pay percentage, what deductions are taken from your check, etc. A conservative number would be $1000 - 1,200, but as I said, various factors could make those numbers much higher or lower.
I've seen TMC drivers that have had locs, so I'd say that shouldn't be a problem. I'd imagine that as long as your hair is well kept and can be tied back or wrapped to prevent it from being caught and ripped off of your scalp, you should be OK. I'm not sure if they have a hair length limit.
@@EruditeTrucker dang I was really hoping to increase my shifting skills over the road there. Ah well I leave Saturday for the orientation then back home then trainer driver. Perks of already having the Class A. Anyways if I see ya out there man don't be a stranger. Safe travels
If I wanted a show truck I'd build one I can understand a clean truck but that's going alittle to far in my opinion these are work trucks not show trucks
The trucks only need to be cleaned that intensively when you go to a terminal for scheduled maintenance every few months. Outside of that, general tidyness is all that they expect.
Wow! I thought they hired drivers, not detailers. I can understand them wanting the outside clean, but the inside? Who sees that except the driver? And if he wants to live in filth, that's on him. That's a bit overboard. My truck would be spotless at all times, but to demand it? Talk about being anal.
@@jerrywilcox9890slow is relative. I'm guessing you're a regular cowboy...lol Like I said before, i drive an ungoverned 379, but i usually drive 65-70. I bet you there is a Drill Sergeant hiding behind a tinted window just hoping for someone to step on the grass 😂
I could believe that. Especially out at the Des Moines terminal. 😅
I see TMC trucks in NJ n always thought to myself these are always nice clean n shiny.
We have to get them washed at least once every two weeks, though some guys in the fleet wash weekly. 🧼🚛💦
One of the slowest trucks out there.
Probably the safest too. What's your hurry, Jerry?@@jerrywilcox9890

Looks like it should be nice based on the progress videos that they've put out so far. I wonder how big it will be compared to the other terminals?

What about the headache rack? Referring to inspections.
They only inspect the headache rack for damage.
Do they still make you jump onto the side of the flat bed?
Yes
Yup

Depending on how long your hair is, they may want you to cut it. I'd ask a recruiter about that before applying if you're still interested.
From what I read it can’t go past your shirt collar

To my knowledge, TMC only tests out in automatic trucks now.
Bruh, thank you for posting the pricesless content. If you don"t mind, what is the average net pay for the drivers starting out with TMC in VA region?

@@EruditeTrucker thank you bro
I have a question regarding polishing your wheels. Are you required to polish them for the inspection too? Do they have equipment for that?
You don't have to polish your wheels, ever. I suppose you can do it if you want to, though.
Very cool, thanks for the answer

Question for you. Do they give you the choice of a manual if you have an unrestricted license? I leave the 9th to start on the 11th.
No, TMC is primarily an automatic transmission fleet now.

What entrance testing are they testing you out on if you already have cdl?
A general road test and a backing maneuver. It's not as strict as what the DOT puts you through to get your CDL.
I was watching this woman going through TMC and says she had to take some type of entrance testing woth math and all that stuff

TMC needs to understand they are not the military and should stop treating as such..
Go to another company then

The dirt stone lot sucks ….they have a lot of balls judging appearance when their shit yard is like that !!!!!!
That area is definitely not ideal. They have a new terminal currently under construction to replace this one. It should be much better.

@EruditeTrucker yep why they will have a hard time getting and keeping drivers.
That's the case with trucking companies industry wide. Low retention rates are common.
