Congrats Sir for such a major mile stone. this mentally prepared me to be ready to take on OD when ever they assign me on my first too. Thank you for such educational vlog.
If you put a binder and a chain on for one side of that trailer to the other, it don’t matter if it’s crossing or not it counts. And a little trick I pull 10 1213 axle set up. I do have y’all been doing it for years you’re very cautious and that is good most states you don’t have to have nothing but the corners of the load flagged not load and truck and trailer and a little tip, especially on your load get a carabiner and a small small clamp and you can connect a flag to anything I will not lose it Always Permits always check your route do not deviate from it. You look like you take pride and what you do and you’re very cautious and doing the right thing very very good values in a Driver this day in age. Crawl before you walk, pay your dues earn your bones be courteous use your cb. I’ve been running a truck for 31 years. I go down the road most days 137 foot long whatever the width whatever the heights and usually 200+ and is from somebody that knows what a good driver is. Just imagine if you were 100+ feet long could not back up can unload if you intern cannot back out of a turn sometimes might have to park and get in the escort vehicle and drive 100 miles just to look at a turn that is what separates the man from the boys are costly run with Trooper escort city escort. You have to be aware of everything from A2Z. I think you’re a good driver. You seem to have it together at your in your career you probably in second grade in a real world setting as a Truck Driver. Turn the video off put your phone on charge. Read your permit and get up in the morning and How are your business 10 or 15 years from now when you’re possibly pulling a 19 axle or a goldhoffer get someone to take a video because once you reached that level, you don’t need recognition it’s just a job that you’re good at and you earned your respect from your skill and performance from experience. Just think if you had to worry about knowing every turn if you could make it or not, where are you gonna be able to park what you don’t have to worry about escorts curfews Are they gonna be able to stack you or what do they have to stack you with? Is it strong enough to lift what you need to do what you are dealing with his child play anyway good luck to you. Stay cautious do not ever be scared to say no that is the one thing that separates the ones that wannabe versus the ones that know this called wisdom and experience anyway sorry this is probably a little lengthy, but I have had a few beers anyway relax dude if you hit something with a 10 wide load, you were most likely going to hit it without the damn load until you get over 12 W. You’re pretty much golden, especially pulling a flatbed.
get a dry erase marker and write down the routes youll be using for the day on the top corner of your windshield. when you’re done for the day just erase and write down the next block of routes youll be taking the following day. that way you’re not trying to read your notes out if your note book while you’re driving.
Read the permits, sign them(if you have a paper copy), and have the provisions sheets for each state you have permits in. Way back in 2011 I pulled my 1st oversized load out of there, I was also with TMC at that time. Now I am doing loads grossing over 300,000 pounds regularly, and reading the permits is the easy part. If you have any questions about any states permits, I will gladly help in any way I can.
X-chains or x-straps don’t count towards the calculations of securement of the overall load but do count as securement of two in the first 4 or 5 feet (so instead of an strap and two straps in the first 5’ you can use and x strap and one strap in the first 5’ and be legal)
If they accept your application, TMC would have you come to one of the training terminals, either Des Moines, IA, or Columbia, SC. You would carpool in a rental that TMC pays for along with other people who are going to train as well.
Love videos like this feel like my big brother for TMC. I’m heading to TMC here soon two more weeks left of CDL school 💪🏽

Good video sir ❤
Thank you.
I did not have all the equipment as well my dispatch sent me by the truck stop to get everything tmc payed me back. Those loads are easy.
They do seem pretty easy as long as you follow the rules. A lot of drivers get themselves in trouble, not stopping at the weigh stations.
