    Solid review, very consistent with my experience. You seem to have similar hearing and listen at lower volumes like me, so I look forward to more of your reviews. I knew it was special when I started to tear up when certain songs would emotionally resonate with me or I would smile because something about it was so enjoyable.
    It did take me some time to get used to the treble but it can still be too much at times. Especially if you are younger and/or treble sensitive like me. What surprised me most was bass detail. I could actually hear the head on the kick drum, not just a generic thump. Reminded me of band class back in high school.
    It's very comfortable although like you it hits me the same place and that can bother me sometimes. I have large ears but with a little wiggling I can get them fully enveloped and once in they aren't bothered.
    Meze did a good job paying attention to the small details and designing a good looking set that you can actually repair.

    Maybe this review was one of my favorites and helps me decide my bought. Yesterday I went for this cans and I coud not be more happier. I also have a 99 Classics and a Sennheiser HD 58x by drop, but this are something else... the clarity and resolution, and those treble details, and bass perfection (at least for me). All sounding incredible, paired with my also very new adquisition IFI Gryphon. I do not know that ifi devices you have mentioned here, but with the Gryphon it's sound trully great.
    Thanks

    Another great video! This one sealed the deal for me and ordering soon. I watched your stream with these and have been obsessively researching since. Also, you should definitely put up affiliate links for those headphone stands!
    I know it's going to be overkill, but I'm looking at pairing these with the Topping A70 Pro & D70 Pro stack. Have you had a chance to try out that amp/dac combo?

  • @flowstatelabs
    @flowstatelabs ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Thank you man. Finally someone that actually mentions music genre in there review. I agree the treble was a little much for me.
    *Question: If treble sibilance bothers you does that mean your hearing is very good as its “hyper sensitive” or its bad bc you cant filter out those highs?

    • @spamcan9208
      @spamcan9208 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think the answer may be different depending on how you define the term and how you react to it.
      If you just happen to notice it more it could be because your hearing physically picks it up better but I don't know much about the physiology of the human ear. It may also be that it's more noticeable because that's how your brain works and has nothing to physically do with the ear at all.
      I associate treble sensitivity as a psychological phenomenon. Things like fatiguing quickly or the sound is outright intolerable.
      I have chronic pain from nerve damage in my spine and sometimes it will actually increase my pain. I've noticed it's more pronounced when I'm tired. Hope that helps.

    How good is the imaging in these? Compared maybe to the Dt1990 Pro or something simular? I would love to buy something that's great for everything while maintaining a top tier use case for competitive gaming.

    Hi excellent review! I still have a question I want to know, how does these compare to the Audeze Maxwell for music? My Dali speakers have spoiled me and now I don't like to listen to not so good sound. Any chance you have listen to the Dali IO-12 when talking to Dali and will be there a review coming soon?

    Joe, please give the new Sony MDR-MV1 a try. I promise it wont disappoint. Similar to the meze 109, it produces a fun amount of bass. I already own them but given your audience (gamer/audiophile) I feel like others would love them especially at $400.

    Fiio ft3 is an open back dynamic with great bass. Suede pads are awesome on it. It’s open back, but it leaks like a semi open back because it has tuning material behind the vents.

    I also have the 109 and the two closest to it in my collection are the Focal Elex ($750/dynamic/open) and the Cleer Next ($700/dynamic/open). The Next is more like the 109 through the frequency response and the Elex is a little more mid forward, like the 6xx but most natural sounding. All three are built very well and are very comfortable.
    I like your videos and been subscribed for a while. Thanks!

    Hi Joe, Great review. Planning to buy this one as I am having ear issues with Closed back Maxwell. do you know in regards to DAC which one is better - HELM Audio Bolt DAC or Qudelix-5K Bluetooth? Would there be any difference in the sound quality if i connect Qudelix-5K via cable compared HELM Audio Bolt? I am a casual user, play PS5 games, TV and Laptop connection needed. I don't mind cable if needed but wireless is preferred. 🙂

    Just a question on the treble as you mentioned the high frequency’s can be uncomfortable. So the concern is how does the 109 handle classical music and particularly the treble clef of piano also orchestra when listening to piano concertos of Beethoven or Mozart etc?

    I'm an exclusive COD and Battlefield player and own the Audeze Maxwell's. Love how they sound but hate the weight. Is there something that you can recommend that's awesome sounding like the Audeze's, with good mic quality, that's lighter and will suit my fps needs? Your opinion to me is greatly valued.

    Hey man I have a question:
    What would you say is a good wireless headset/headphone? Mic is not necessarily required which is why im including headphones. Would be mainly for listening to music and playing single player games, with some fps here and there.
    Keep up the good work, really appreciate the detailed reviews.

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much! Would still lean towards the Audeze Maxwell for higher end, and HyperX Cloud III for under $200 wireless. I’m not sure what platforms you use, but the Master&Dynamic MG20 is great as well if you can get it on sale. At full price, the Maxwell is better.

    • @lukasmerz1030
      @lukasmerz1030 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GadgetryTech Thanks for the fast reply, really wasn't expecting that. Yeah I've been leaning towards the Maxwell aswell, just thought there might be some better wireless headphones out there, since I might go with a Mod Mic anyway.
      What would be good options when it comes to wired headphones around 400$?
      I play on PS5 and PC if that helps.

    Had a critical listening to them today with all the hype. When i played my mellow songs like Guy Clark My Favorite Picture of You and Sera Una Noche ...sounded fabulous. But when i played My Chemical Romance...it was too harsh. The treble is hot and it will give ear fatique. Once detected, the treble bleeds into the vocals making them a tad sharper. So this is a headphone that doesnt work well for rock or music with lots of high hat hits or generally trebly songs. Only good for Jazz, Folk, modern crap with electronic beats.

    • @GadgetryTech
      @GadgetryTech  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No problem! Try this out on the G6. It will have a lot less bass but it may make footsteps stand out more. Consider it as more of an "e-sports" tune.
      32hz -9
      64hz -7
      125hz +4
      250hz -6
      1000hz +3

    Most overrated cans of the decade. This thing sounds like you're in the center of a quadraphonic speakers old stereo system. Not natural sound at all, but hollow, echoe, shouty and muddy at times. Both male and female voices sound thin, string instruments sound tiny and yes it has a half decent low end. But any audeze model its much better at that too. It won't replace any of my Grados. ALL of them sound much better for a lot less money. Not to mention the cables included sound like crap, both of them.
