    Andy, this video needs more visibility. I spent ages de-soldiering the XM receiver on my Tiny7 and Tiny7x to make up a cable to then flash it with EU FW, never knew it was possible to flash the TX for the FCC FW, so much easier! Thank you!

    Wow! I had problems to bind the XM+ (of which I bought two). Flashing firmware was ok but it wouldn't bind, with both led on the XM+ on. The flashing of the XJT was the hint I needed. Thank you so much for that.

      Hi, did you solve this issue, It happen to me also 🙁

    • @the_real_foamidable
      @the_real_foamidable 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alextkd2003 Yes, as I said you have to update the firmware of your transmitter module within your Taranis, which is called XJT. The firmware of the XJT must match the firmware version of the receivers and is more ot less independent from the opentx version you use.

    • @alextkd2003

      @@the_real_foamidable thanks for the fast response. Yesterday I did the same, but did not work, my taranis have version 2.1.0 also the xm+ receiver

    • @the_real_foamidable
      @the_real_foamidable 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alextkd2003 And you probably used LBT or FCC on both transmitter and receiver. Be sure you have at least half a meter distance between transmitter and receiver when binding. Does it work for other receivers you own? There is always the possibility of a faulty unit, although I never had one between the twenty I had so far.

    • @alextkd2003
      @alextkd2003 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@the_real_foamidable It's working now, it is really weir, to bind I moved like a half meter away the receiver and is green now. Thanks man for all your help :)

    Awesome man..! I have a question:
    How are the X4R Receivers? How far do they go, does it have anything like a brownout?
    (Because my V8FR-II does brownout.. I’m looking for a brownout-free receiver)

    I have a devo 7e and finally got a successful bind last night, range test was great everything working smoothly. It was bound for maybe and hour. I was getting a perfect signal in test mode no matter how hard I tried to make it loose signal around the house. Xm+ here.
    I was in betaflight setting some switches up and the receiver just stopped working. I was changing the aux channels on the transmitter for flight modes in betaflight and it just stopped receiving. When I power it lights up dim solid green/red and doesn't do anything, no different if I power it on while holding the bind key. It should be a bright solid green and blinking red in bind mode. Sometimes if I wait a while to plug a battery in and don't hit the bind key it will light up solid red. I tried to bind it again but nothing happens. I'm at a complete loss. I reset the profile and tried to bind again no luck.

    hi Andy. well just wanted to tell everyone who are interested on this receiver that i have 8 of this receiver (xm+) and 2 more on the way..! its the greatest receiver I've ever had..! i tested the rang'' is more then 1000 meter in open aria and around 600to 800 meter in the city with tall buildings and as long as your fc supports osd you do have very accurate rssi value on the screen and on the receiver is on channel 12 and in betaflight you got to type channel 16 and all of my 8 xm+ receivers'' i did NOT have to do anything for the fail safe activation they came already set even rssi was already showing up in betaflight i just had to sign in channel 12 in my Taranis plus thats all i did..(:

    I've also been using the XM+ for a while now, great range but I had a few issues at the start so just a heads up: didn't bind to my Taranis (EU, LBT) out of the box so I had to flash the receiver with a new version from frsky website (a version that just came out that day) and been getting random spikes on channel one, causing weird twitches. Turned out to be a bug in the firmware, updated it to a newer version a month later and the issue was gone. Also it seems to trigger failsafe when you hold the receiver close to the Taranis, (flooding?) so make sure failsafe is set correctly and motors don't spin up!

    Good to see you dump the non standard (Inferior) EU / LBT Firmware Andy. I had my Taranis for a while and it came with the International Firmware...... Mode 1 user too...like me....Good man....lol.
    Oh, and I ordered one of the tiny XM receivers to go with my Omnibus F4 FCs....The RSSI feed and the fact I can easily bury it out on a wingtip did it, that and the claimed range for this tiny RX.

    Now you will have better range as the old EU firmware had to limit output power to comply with the regulations. EU LBT is transmitting at full power and also it's constantly searching for cleanest channel and then using it. So it's safer to fly together with other transmitters. International version just blasts to the whole spectrum :)

      @giannissarris2135 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @randomwisdom845
      @randomwisdom845 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, EU and international are due to legal regulations in EU. Current EU firmware is EU LBT - listen before talk. It actively scans bands and only transmits to those bands where is no signal detected. So it's safer for other radio systems nearby and it's a requirement in EU. International just transmits to all bands and doesn't care if there's signal on it or no. Well, Taranis works by hopping on different frequencies to make signal more resilient. One thing regarding EU firmware is that there are 2 of them. Old one called simply EU, this one has been discontinued and it had weaker output power and limited receiver protocol support as it had no listen before talk feature. So you will get shorter flying range. After some time second firmware was developed, called EU LBT. So they implemented that legal requirement to have LBT and were allowed to transmit at full power. So if you need EU firmware, use EU LBT. Now if you want to get a radio .... probably get international :) I'm in EU too, using international, still not in jail :) You can change the firmware of the radio and receivers afterwards if you need that. And most of receivers on online shops are international.

      Your tutorial was excellent, its just that for years I've been into rc stuff , cars, truggies, boats, helis, and now quads. I've always bought RTFs that came with a Tx. So I obviously have quite a lot of Txs . I would like to get a Taranis and bind all my aerials to it but for me it's so confusing as what will bind and what won't . I have several eflight helis and quads, a phantom 2 clone and some toy grade tiny whoops. I saw a vid on binding a Taranis to a eachine 010 but was lost in the terminology. I would like to see a detail tutorial explaining the differences between Frsky , flysky, dsm, futaba etc protacols. I really enjoy your vids and learn a lot but all the different terminology tends to scramble my brain. Anyway, keep up the good work. Love the vids.

      if your using a taranis u need the frsky rx. if u wish to bind a model with the dsm or dsmx rx then u will need the orange rx module that goes in the back of the taranis the others work with different radios flysky and futaba etc. hope this helps
