I worked there , been there dozens of time. Water for the city and hotels is from desalination plant in jeddah , water from Zamzam is only for drinking in the holy mosques. I am US citizen, if you want to try by yourself go buy zamzam bottle from Middle East grocery store, you can taste the difference. Sitting in front of books does not make you researcher. National Institute of Health done a research paper about zamzam water and its chemical composition. You can read that .

I agree that sitting in a room of books isn't enough. But then what makes you worth listening to. You talk like you know something, but the only thing you said is the waters taste different. How does taste change it? Because at the end of the day, it's just water. There is nothing magical in it unless there's minerals in it with the only ability to rehydrate the body.

It's amazing how people believe in Jay's cute little story about the zam zam well. Jay is a kafir. He doesnt believe in the miracle of Allah! He doesnt believe that a well that small could supply endless pure drinking water for millions of pilgrims. "52 million litres a day that little well?" Yes, Jay Smith! That little well does it every day! And it's not being supplied with desalinated water from Jeddah. That's his error! The water in the well is supplied by Allah Himself!
The unique property of the zam zam well is that it fills up every time the water falls below a certain level.
Zam zam is free, no one has to pay for it unless it's purchased outside of Saudi or from shops selling them in Makkah, for those who do not bother to fill up their own bottles.
    Answering Jay's questions:
    1) Hagar was left there with baby Ismael. Abraham left them there. Abraham did NOT live in Makkah.
There were NO houses around the Kaabah. Kaabah was not even there! There were only foundation stones that Abraham when he rebuilt the Kaabah with Ismael when he's older.
That cite where Hagar found water became an attractive spot for other arabs but she made it clear, the well belongs to her.
    2) The well does NOT supply the needs of Muslims all around the world. It only supplies water to the pilgrims. Jay is making a wild and foolish claim!
    3) There are no pipes coming TO the well. There are only 2 large pipes drawing water OUT of the well. Pilgrim may drink zam zam water from taps outside the Masjid, from water tanks placed all around the Masjid, or go to the nearest pump station where they can fill large bottles to take home.
    4) Desalination plants DO NOT send water to the zam zam well. Desalinated water is for use in hotels, houses, restaurants for everyday use: cooking, washing, etc. This water is pumped to the buildings. It's strange that Jay thinks the desalinated water goes to the zam zam well, and then re-pumped to the buildings! This desalinated water that we get from the taps tastes DIFFERENT from the water of zam zam. Jay Smith doesnt know because he has never tasted these 2 waters!!
    5) Saudi Arabia does not laugh all the way to the bank because zam zam water is FREE! Each pilgrim is given 5 litres of zam zam for FREE. On top of that we can fill up our own bottles if we want and they're FREE.
This is a documentary of the well which Jay took a screenshot from but completely ignored the facts presented in the video and invent his own story. Watch: th-cam.com/video/ZL3MJb_djUU/w-d-xo.html

Zamzam water doesn't go to homes via pipes in Mecca. Those homes are supplied with water through other means. When you turn on a faucet or take a shower at a home in Mecca you aren't getting Zamzam water. Your getting regular water from other means. Zamzam water is supplied by bottles and drinking fountains in the Mosque of the Kaaba and possibly other means that I don't know about. Your argument was based on the assumption the Zamzam well provides water to every home in Mecca so there is not enough water to go around so the Saudi government is lying about Zamzam water. The Zamzam well doesn't supply water to homes via pipes which means when your buying or drinking Zamzam water from government official places and sources your getting Zamzam water, not water from desalination plants. To say the well holds infinite water is impossible and nothing from the Quran or Sahih Hadith say the well has infinite water. If anyone really wants to know the truth go to your local Mosque and ask a Sheikh.

well, we all know what the Sheikh will say, and why would i ask a mosque in London about stuff in Mecca? of course, we cannot go to Mecca.
still, his take on the Zamzam well providing water to all of Mecca today was to rebute some muslim claims, not to enforce a christian claim. muslims are the ones that say the well provided enough water for a whole city because it was adequate enough. and this was to rebuke Dr. Jay's claim that there was no water in Mecca, and thus, no city.

When Ibrahim (Abraham) left Hagar and Isma'il in the valley of Mecca, the area was completely barren and uninhabited. There were no neighbors or settlements nearby. The valley of Mecca was a remote and desolate place with no water sources or inhabitants at that time.
After the discovery of Zamzam, the area eventually attracted a tribe called the Jurhum who settled near the well. The presence of water made the previously barren valley habitable, and it eventually grew into the city of Mecca. However, this settlement occurred after the miraculous appearance of Zamzam and not before.

If the ZamZam (in Mecca) was truly infinite, then Mecca itself now would be a green paradise fed and supported by the waters of the ZamZam. You'd see vast orchards and plantations of fruits and vegetables to support the populace together with gardens and fountains all over the place. A water source that you can drain infinitely would surely be the center of all agricultural power in Arabia. The fact that they don't do this, shows that they know, this thing ain't infinite. What's truly amazing is that this whole myth is kind of like that weird psychology experiment, the Asch conformity experiments, where people are forced to say that one line which is clearly shorter or longer than the others is just the same length as the control line. Most participants are forced to conform to the lie due to group pressure. The ZamZam well in Mecca is clearly not infinite, but they all conform to the lie to save face. Islam in this way has a metric tonne of conformity tests that anyone with a slight bit of logic and observance would instantly recognize as falsehoods but consciously must reject in order to maintain faith. Faith in what? A lie? That's the truly scary part.

The limitations of the well show clearly that the groundwater is scarce and the well only fills during rainy season. Rain will fill the well with polluted surface water, as shown by the old photos with children swimming around the Kaaba. This well is proof that the site was, at best, a village and never a major pilgrimage destination. The work on qanats for irrigation by Queen Zenobia proves that Mecca's own water supply was inadequate for more than a small local population to survive. The idea that this is where the Biblical narrative was located is absurd. The stories of water gushing from rocks is indicative of rift formations in the north, near more unstable tectonic areas.

The zam zam water never runs dry. The Makkans used the water for drinking. They're desert people, why would they use precious water to create beautiful gardens? Their priority is to hydrate themselves, not make gardens to beautify their surrounding! It is only now when they've got the desalination plants that they've started to grow gardens and plant trees all over the kingdom. And this, btw, has been prophecied by Prophet Muhammad pbuh:
Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (way peace be upon him) as saying:
The Last Hour will not come before wealth becomes abundant and overflowing, so much so that a man takes Zakat out of his property and cannot find anyone to accept it from him and till the land of Arabia reverts to meadows and rivers.

The commonly cited figures of 1 million and 2 million are based on assuming that the Hebrew word "eleph" should be translated as "thousand" in the book of Numbers when the word can also be used to mean "clan", "leader", or "military unit" - all of which make sense in the context of counting their military forces. Both the population of Avaris (the city they left from) and the archaeologically confirmed population boom in Canaan during the period they are said to have arrived are far less than 1 million, so these non-numerical readings of the text should probably be preferred.
Secondly, the Israelites were not travelling through a desert. During the Late Bronze Age the Sinai peninsula was a savannah.
Thirdly, the Exodus account specifically talks about how they got food and water. So these details are explicitly addressed within the text of the Bible.
If you want to look into this issue in more detail I would recommend looking either at the Exodus Rediscovered documentaries on the Inspiring Philosophy channel (which detail the evidence put forward for the Exodus by many Egyptologists and Old Testament Scholars): th-cam.com/play/PL1mr9ZTZb3TVhsJ06Zb4FRQfEAVajfDg-.html (the second video in the series specifically deals with evidence related to the 40 years in the wilderness) or looking at the channel Ancient Egypt and the Bible - run by an Egyptologist who has done substantial work on the case for an historical Exodus. Ancient Egypt and the Bible has a weekly Q&A livestream on Friday nights (by Dr Falk's Canadian timezone) if you have any specific questions related to the Exodus.

Dr Jay. I am a very experienced Hydrogeologist with 50 years in the industry and have worked in over 50 countries, including Saudi Arabia. I have a PhD Degree in Hydrogeology. Please refer to the Saudi University chemical analyses for Zam Zam. It is barely potable. Historical records show the water table in the well is around 4 to 6m beneath the surface (after heavy rainfall recharge). The water table in the unconfined sand aquifer would then gradually decline as the groundwater drains downstream from the points of recharge. Under these circumstances it is not physically possible for a child to scratch the surface and groundwater springs forth uncontrolled at the surface. This is hydro geologically impossible. There is no way anyone would shout 'stop stop' as nothing would be flowing. The story of Zam Zam is a scam, a myth to justify a Deen, based on false pretenses. Can I please ask that you interview an experienced Hydrogeologist to present the actual hydrogeological reality at Zam Zam.

May Allah's curse be on those who lie about the religion and miracles of Allah, and when the Angel of Death is upon you and the barrier is removed you shall know you were of the Wrongdoers.
You are not even allowed into the holy city of Mecca, and you are speaking on things that predate America, and Predate the time of Jesus (PBUH). So why a Christian would have a comment concerning a miracle given to a wife of Ibrahim (PBUH) is beyond me. You cannot see any of the miracles of Jesus (PBUH) which we believe in of course, but all can see the Water of the well of Zam Zam still flowing.
So all you do is attempt to mislead more people to what.... the fire? Why should people listen to you? Maybe you should spend your time convincing people to abandon Pagan traditions and Witchcraft. You only confuse a few Muslims, and mislead and lie to non muslims. People dip their fingers in "holy water" from the Catholics, which is "blessed" from a priest... and people go for this... When Jesus (PBUH) walked the earth he was a Prophet who could bless water, as he was sent by Allah as a blessing to the people who he was sent to (Jewish people BTW, who rejected his message).. Now all of a sudden Catholics, who DID NOT exist in the time of Jesus ( PBUH) can suddenly bless water. When did Jesus(PBUH) leave this ability for his followers? This is PURE INNOVATION... Think on this for a second..... If you indeed are a person of Logic.
Repent and Learn the true message of Islam, before you are in your grave.. Repent for the lies you tell against Islam.
Allah says (interpretation of the meaning)
Miserable is the price for which they have sold their souls, in that they deny (the revelation) which Allah has sent down, in insolent envy that Allah of His Grace should send it to any of His servants He pleases: Thus have they drawn on themselves Wrath upon Wrath. And humiliating is the punishment of those who reject Faith. Quran 2:90

I am not a hydrologist or geologist but what I understand is that a natural spring has an underground source like a river or aquifer under pressure that forces water to the surface where it 'springs' out. You find these all over the world. A well is man made. A well or borehole is dug into the earth and either can tap into an underground river source or simply creates a collection point for draining ground water after rains.
Basically surface rain water drains into the sands and starts flowing along a natural gradient downwards.
Is this 'spring / well' of Zam Zam actually in such a natural gradient.
Jay said the legends name a supply valley but that valley goes another way so it could not be the natural slope for Zam Zam.
So is it a well dug by man or did a supernatural spring occur in the desert to satisfy Hagar and Ishmael?
Has anyone thought that Hagar was of Egyptian origin and so why would she flee away from her known homeland instead of towards it ?
How did she survive so long from the known landmarks of Abraham [ outside Jerusalem] to get all the way down to this barren waterless place ?
If Abraham was living IN the Kaaba, what was he doing with all the idols while worshipping only 1 God ?
Logic, geology, geography, history, human behaviour, science, common sense and simple problem solving seem to have eluded wise men in favour of a fable - a fable with enormous power as it kills it's opponents. Talk about censoring free speech !

as believing LIARS AND DECEIVERS make you a fool
JAY is supposed to know Islam as he claimed that he studied Islam but LIE to gullible idiots like you into believing that Abraham lived in the Kaaba or next to the Kaaba😅🤣😂
Abraham lived in Ur and his father was a Idol maker and he broke those idols there in Ur ...but the idiot Jay mixes up the story deliberately to deceive you xtians.
After Abraham broke those Idols, according to Islam, he was asked who broke the idols and he pointed to the BIG IDOL that he left and pointed to it...
The Pagans were furious and said that the BIG IDOL is only a idol and can't do it, proving Abraham's point that the Idols can't do anything and should not be worshiped.
The Pagan in Ur took Abraham to be roasted but a miracle happened and the fire did not burn Abraham. (that is the story from the Muslims)
Abraham was still Abram and searched for God in many ways and traveled from Ur along the fertile crescent to Jerusalem.
      ABRAHAM TRAVELED TO MECCA
If Abraham traveled SO FAR from Ur in Irak/Iran to Jerusalem, to Egypt and spoke to Pharaoh (not in Cairo...ha ha ha ) whose Palaces and Temples were situated almost as far as Mecca (on the opposite side of the Red Sea in Egypt) AND making it back to Jerusalem, then making it to Mecca would be no problem to Abraham as he was guided by God and secondly, there were well established caravan routes with small towns and oasis's along the way.
Mecca is there and was Established by Hagar and Ismail when Abraham left them there.
There are also well documented studies from Jewish scholars to back this up.
The Ref to Habakkuk is to tell you about the children of Ismael,
Tema not Abraham, inhabited the area around Mecca and Medina.
If you think that Mecca was NOT established in Paran and they built built the Kaaba, then your bible scholars would not say that Jews and Heathens worshiped at the Kaaba BEFORE Mohammad (saw).
The References from your Bible Study from your Xtian scholars, not Muslim makes it clear that Mecca and Medina was well known before Mohammad (saw) by Jews and Arab Pagans - both worshiped at the Kaaba.

The stretching out the hand towards an object of devotion, or an holy place, was an ancient usage among the Jews and heathens BOTH, and it continues in the East at this time, which continuance I do not remember to have seen remarked. That this attitude in prayer has continued among the Eastern people, appears by the following passage from Pitts, in his account of the religion and manners of the Mohammedans. Speaking of the Algerians throwing wax candles and pots of oil overboard, as a present to some marabbot (or Mohammedan saint), Pitt goes on, and says, "When this is done, they all together hold up their hands, begging the marabbot's blessing, and a prosperous voyage." In the same page he tells us, "the marabbots have generally a little neat room built over their graves, resembling in figure their mosques or churches, which is very nicely cleaned, and well looked after." And in the succeeding page he tells us, "Many people there are who will scarce pass by any of them without lifting up their hand, and saying some short prayer." In like manner, he tells us, that at quitting the Beat, or HOLY HOUSE AT MECCA, to which they make DEVOUT PILGRIMAGES, "they hold up their hands towards the Beat, making earnest petitions."

No one should believe Jay Smith who constantly lies about Islam. Abraham did not live in the kaabah nor in Makkah. He left Hagar and baby ismael in the desert of Makkah. This is the timeline as per Islamic source:
Abraham walked Hagar and baby Ismael to the desert in Arabia. Exact location, we dont know. Abraham walked away, leaving mother and infant in the desert.
Ismael cried and Hagar placed him down in search of water. She walked between the hills of Safa and Marwa looking for signs of life where she could get water.
An Angel came to strike the ground and out spurt water, which is known as zam zam today.
Mother and child were supported by this lifeline. Soon arabs got to know about this place and it flourished. Hagar shared the water with them but made clear she's the owner of zam zam.
Years later Abraham came and together with Ismael, rebuilt the kaabah. We believe Adam was the first to build the kaabah but due to passing of time, it eroded.
The arabs learnt about Allah and the rituals around Kaabah from Abraham and Ismael. But their religion became contaminated with idolatry.
The guardianship of Kaabah and Zam Zam well continued to be in the hands of Ismael's descendants till the days of Prophet Muhammad pbuh. It was his tribe, Banu Hashim that was the custodian of the Kaabah and zam zam well.
Prophet Muhammad pbuh returned mankind to the true teachings of Abraham and demolished all idols around Kaabah and kept the circling ritual once taught by Abraham. All other haj rituals are to commemorate this family's journey in their worship of Allah.

Jay Smith confuse water from well (zam zam) with water for everyday use (from desalination plant). One is pure drinking water (zam zam), the other is salt water which is now so refined compared to years ago when our hair became hard and sticky. Yet this water does not taste like zam zam. Zam Zam has a unique taste. If you havent tried it, pls do! Inside and outside Masjidil Haram are free supplies of both types of water. You can choose to drink Zam Zam or the normal drinking water.

Very simple answer to the question you pose in between. There WAS no Kaaba there when Hagar was left there first. There was nothing. It was built by Ibrahim and his son years later as commanded by God.
Ibrahim prophet did not live there. He visited several times and made the call for Hajj, but didn’t live there.

The only difference in our tap water and zam zam water is, our water is not from the salty ocean and had the salt removed to make it drinkable.
