I want you guys to know how much your videos have brought life back to my great grandmother. I really think she was happiest as a child living in the mountains of Colorado near Silverton. Because of your videos she has been educating all of us of her life and how important conservation is and how much we throw away. Last weekend we rented a cabin. Granny helped us buy groceries. We wanted to experience what her life was like. We all were amazed as we watched her cook " from scratch" everything. Nothing from a can or from a box. When we wrre done eating in the evening she tpld us the most AMAZING stories of living in the mountains of Colorado. We all came home with a new look at everything. I cant find the words. We are planning to do this next weekend again. We ALL cant wait. I love what you say about kids need to be outside more. We probably look like idiots to you guys. I hope you guys keep making videos. Maybe we should build a cabin soon.
I am a 58 year old woman and I love your videos. I enjoy fishing, hunting, camping and all aspects of each. I dress my own game, season it and then cook it for myself and anyone else that will try it. I have eaten all of your wild game except skunk, beaver and bear; mainly because I have no access to the beaver and bear. I have eaten bobcat and I haven't seen you eat that, even down here in Texas. Thank you for your channel!
Thank you for bringing attention to hunters contributing to wild life preservation, too many haters just aren't educated and don't read and don't educate themselves .
As a kid on a farm in the 50's, I was raised eating wild food, including plants. It supplemented our home garden veggies and fruits. I learned to shoot a single shot .22 at about age 9, and Dad and I shot pigeons off the barn roof, and back in the woods and fields were squirrels, cottontails, raccoon, woodchuck and game birds - we did not own or use a shotgun. As I grew older and moved to the city, I got away from hunting and eating game, but still relish some venison or small game that a friend sometimes gives me. I got hungry watching you guys eat! And I found a new use for the Canadian maple syrup that is stocked in my basement pantry!
This video is a great example of respect. The two of you complement each other very well. Tip : You can grind the torso of squirrel bones and all and make squirrel patties. No gritty texture. Thank you so much !
Tell Jeromy he can use the cattail roots as starch for his bread. works perfect. Just clean the roots, hammer them , pull them appart and put it in water. The water will become milky, the starch will sink to the bottom of the container. just pour the grubby water out and let the starch dry out. it will be poudery after and you can use it to keep the natural flour and seeds together.

Old video, but talking about deer and rabbits eating meat reminded me of something I saw as a kid. I was walking around the woods in Montana and a squirrel was 5 feet above me on a branch holding a headless bird by the wings and chewing on the neck stub. Blew my mind!
I grow leeks in my garden all the time, leeks n garlic. I always let a few leeks go to seed in one bed. You can fry your leeks, other wild veg, garlic. And blitz them into a powder. Then you have a yummy stock powder to take with you. I always freeze the leftover broth from stews etc. Makes an amazing base for other meals.
Foraging food is awesome food. I live off grid and forage as much as possible. I collect rain water also. I feel the best I have in years. I am 1 year 5 months into my journey. I have heritage breed chickens, goats, bees for honey. Wild grapes, elderberries & other berries. Grains are the biggest challenge. I do use organic heritage tubers, sweet potatoes, to sub for grains. Those are gluten free foods. Goat milk, cheese and fermented products are great. You can do this indefinitely. It is a full time job but so rewarding.
you should batter some of the meat in flour and then fry it for a bit in some bear fat before you start stewing it. Try making some homemade wine also to deglaze the pot before you stew it. it might add a lot of flavor
Seeing you and Jeremy out for snow shoe hair reminds me of the first video I watched of yours going on 3 years ago. You were hunting with a rifle shotgun combo. You had 30k subscribers and I knew you would go big.
I don’t think u should pick on Jer about his sweet tooth with the maple syrup/sugar. He is giving up far more carbs than anyone else and is being true to his dietary lifestyle. If you gave up your standard carbs intake for 57 days you’d make the most of any carbs u could get ahold of to compensate. We need to listen to our bodies more and give in to the hunger it tells us to. Our bodies know what we need and communicate this by cravings.
Really enjoyed the footage playing while you guys enjoyed the meal. Respect the thoughtful sharing of conservation versus reality. The knowledge you're sharing is what we are lacking as a modern society. Thinking about what a person needs to sustain life realative to their location, is something left out of education. Seems like planned dumbing down to be dependent on convenience? Our relatives knew exactly what & when to collect edibles. They over indulged when appropriate which made some foods special, like berries. Being able to buy something out of season takes away all of the "special" that our realatives knew. So many deep thoughts inspired by you two. Thank you for what you're doing! Late add: the little one & the sleeping bunnies 😂 so sweet.

Guys. Make bone broth from everything you kill and freeze it. It makes a perfect brazing liquid for tougher meats. I have never eaten tough rabbit or squirrel when brazing. Bone broth, wild onions, wild garlic, wild mushrooms. Sear the meat first. Braise an hour or so.
