"Are you here to fish or cut bait?" Are you gonna spend all day talking and getting ready or are we actually going to fish? Heard it all my fishing life.
Cut bait (pack'er in) or fish. Never considered it might mean cutting up the bait and eating it, but I guess it can be interpreted both ways. No doubt, if I spent enough time out on the ice with no fish, I would definitely opted for your definition.
I've gone through the ice twice. Both times, I was following along behind someone who was a lot smaller than me and he just shot across, so I figured I could also. Thankfully, I was very fit at those times and was able to raise myself out and beat feet back to a source of warmth before frostbite set in. I now check ice, no matter who else is with me going out and I don't go out on less than 6" of ice if there's snow or 4" solid ice without any snow and I carry a 5 foot walking stick that I can use as a spreader to pull myself up, if I were to fall through some rotten ice. It's definitely a scarey situation.
at least butter is natural and so are herbs so its ok, its not a wilderness challenge i mean if its all natural by that theory they can't even bring wire, go twine some reeds and make a makeshift fishing line i guess

why does wooded beardsman do the best camping videos ??? (his personality and etc just make the video satisfying and enjoyable!!!) keep up the great work
So, I'm listen while working on a project. Bearded starts talking about ball toner and I hear "oooh yeah, that's the stuff". I've watched many cringe moments on TH-cam. I've never been afraid to look at my phone before.
Thank you for these videos man. Took some time off from everything, major life events. End of some things, and the start of something I think will last forever. But the woods and videos like this have always been there, my go to, my fall back. Survival is in our blood and nothing can change that. Enjoy the northern forests and lakes man, spring is here in Kansas. Looking forward to trees budding and spending a summer on the water. And I'm getting a deer down this fall, with a partner to provide for keeping me warm in the stand.
You are a legend!Everytime I watch your videos,I learn something new!Yeah fish soup is one of my favorite.I grew up from small Pacific Island and fish is our main good. Thanks for making and sharing the videos!❤
Another awesome survival challenge this one was different in a couple ways and I really enjoyed that. Another video well done, keep up the great content Chris!
I use those foam mats that fit together in my pop up with my wood stove and usually don’t have any slush or water issues most of the time you can be hanging out in your socks the floor stays so dry.
Lol, that's a common saying, cut bait or fish! I'm 52 and have always fished, but me and a buddy go nighttime bullhead fishing and we use raw chicken livers as bait. It we don't get any fish, we cook the livers on a stick over the campfire. Eat bait or fish! 🐟🎣😊
This is the second vid ive seen with adam. He def seems like a cool dude to try and survive with so hopefully there are or will be more vids with you and him. And man, that underwater camera is so cool.
I’m hooked and lost just as many lol omg 😳 the 911 video, so glad everyone involved was ok, very hard hitting. Don’t know how you could watch that and keep on fishing lol Respect!!!
Been watching for a while now and love the channel. Had an idea for a challenge. What would you do if you popped to the shops and had an accident and needed to survive?
Dude, that nose-hair clipper doesn't have a vacuum right? So you just clipped your nose hairs and then sniffed in all of the cut hairs! Wow, a real man!!
NICE! I literally just did a 48 hour ice fishing survival challenge too and actually got the video dropping tonight haha, also were getting on Burbots and our first time catching and eating them too!! Love it!!
Watching you video again, what I do on ice I just cut 2 holes with the auger close together about 1 foot deep under the stove for the water to sit in there and I scoop it out once in a while, avoids having a puddle 👍🏼
That moment you need a bildge pump for your tent LOL. Been there while ice fishing in my pop up shelter. I went to fire a fish back down the hole and there was enough water on the floor for it to turn around and swim around the floor and then back down the hole it went. It was funny.
Wow guys, never had the opportunity to ice fish being in Chicago, but nice to see y'all having fun, well until the falling in ice scenario, thank God all is well. Takes shaven balls, lol to get back on that ice. Looking forward though to doing it, new subscriber here and looking forward to more survival skills as I'm heading for the hills this year. Thanks again!
We tried a few times. Our winter stuff is all light, but all bulky...we really needed some snow shoes to make a more even track for the sleds. The slush didn't help either.
It’s a very long drive, but come on down to the western US states. Make a nice family trip out of it! Time it right and you can hook up with plenty of people that’ll put you on a lot of different fish! And if you come down even further, you can end your trip fishing for stripers in the Colorado river!
Congratulations on a very nice trip video and on the catching of the fish. I was a bit worried when night began to fall with no success. Then it all turned around there was plenty to eat.🤙
So, not to sound insane but, could you build a sled large enough to set up the tent on? A dry floor sounds better than slush, and you'd have a wider sled for gear. You could use PVC pipe for it so it's light but you'd have to anchor it good
@@randysparks1271 Yes, but even then we're fully loaded. If we had a 3rd they wouldn't fit inside. I think the trick is to get the stove insulated somehow, or just move every day.
Really like this video don't know what it was but it felt real I mean this is what people really go through when going ice fishing I had a good time seeing this video I got to give you and your team a big tums UP for making this video really enjoy myself seeing the video.
This is a good eating fish. Really taste like cod imo. Eazy to catch in winter time but harder in summer. Not many Swedish folks eat it now days but its yummy.

Never been a fan of trimming my nose hair... the hot snot just runs out in the cold. But the ball butter sounds like a win.

Thanks for your story Scott.
Thats scary man. Glad you made it out okay. Where i live you never hear of stuff like this so its amazing hearing stories like this.
Wow bro. Definitely scary thing to happen to anyone 😮
Trying to catch wild butter is so hard. That animal is so elusive and even if you get your hands on it, seems to just slip away every time.

Maybe putting the stove legs on logs would help keep the melt under it down a bit. Some of your firewood pieces looked big enough.
We tried that in the past with limited results. Maybe the entire thing needs some kind of box to sit on which is insulated.
