Another full year in the wilderness living my dream. There is no place I would rather be than in the wilderness, self reliant, thriving in an off grid log cabin and living close to nature. Spring arrived today, and in my mind, it's the beginning of a new year and I reflect on the last 365 days spent building my homestead and creating a safe place for my family and me for times like this. The next 365 days will bring big changes for me and my family as we continue to learn how to and practice becoming more self reliant and put the lessons I have learned over the last three years to use. This year, food security and health are our focus, along with a few building projects that I'll be undertaking alone to make our homestead more self sufficient. Stay healthy and be kind.
That was such a beautiful video James. So glad your wife is at the cabin with you enjoying all that peace and beauty. Thanks so much for sharing it with us.
Watching you here in my livingroom in Holland, where people are told by the government to stay home as much as possible because of the Coronavirus, (as almost all over the world) your life seems pretty amazing right about now....your reality couldn’t be further away from mine. Weird times we live in. Stay happy and healthy!
I don’t think you realize how much we need your videos right now. Your solitude and self-reliance calms me. Living in Chicago right now is a disaster because I am a bartender, and all restaurants are closed for the foreseeable future. So I am definitely unemployed. Please send more videos. When I saw that you uploaded a video I actually felt happy. I haven’t felt happy in a while.
Marc, We are all in trouble, its hitting us in increments. I live in Michigan the problems are beginning to close in. We aren't locked down yet, but I think it is coming. These are troubled times.
Marc, 4whatever is worth. This has been a major burp, but life will go on. Yes, there will be an economic impact but we will recover. I'm glad we left the big city 🏙 if you haven't done so, perhaps this is something you should seriously consider. Whether ur married or single, cities are no place to be when SHTF. I'm not a prepper but live outside the big city. Use your resources wisely, keep ur head about and simplify ur life. Also, disengage from news outlets for a while. Go to a 🏞 or to a quiet trail and breathe.. ♡
Do something to keep occupied...look for open university courses, for example. Watch videos and learn something you’ve always been curious about. I read a post somewhere from a person living in an apartment building....the residents are cooking large meals and having group meals, getting acquainted. They posted in the lobby area things that they have extra of, and things that are needed. Someone bought a 40lb bag of rice and offered to share. Offer to fix things for neighbors, lead a group to start window gardens using empty jars and cans...sweet potatoes are great for that! Start a compost bin for foods. And connect to your friends and family via Skype or something if you can’t get together.
I think of all the skills (and he has many!) I’m most impressed by, its Shawn’s videography skills! I mean this guy is basically a self taught, Hollywood-level one-man production team. His angles, audio, lighting, stills, drone skills, all top notch. Oh yeah, and he can build, hunt and cook like a pro!
This is the real life of human being that it should be, NO stress, NO depression, NO bills, NO due dates, NO enemies, NO problems. This is the life that I've always dreaming of. Thanks for this video. New subscriber.
@@derindawalker9849 tell that to all the people that have lost a loved one. I just lost my husband a month ago and I spent 3 weeks in the hospital holding on to my life how dare you perpetuate a lie like this.
I had a stroke 5 months ago and watching this amazing series has become part of my recovery,I’m a 69 year old retired carpenter, so I can really relate to the work being done. I watch an episode or two at bedtime and I find it relaxes me perfectly and allows me to sleep better
I understand what your channel is about now. It’s about peace. It’s about self-reliance. For over a year now I’ve been watching your channel. It’s made me appreciate nature, hard work, solitude, man’s best friend. It’s about capturing the sounds of nature. Crackling of the fire. Chopping wood. The sounds of a river. It’s about appreciating an accomplished project. when I go to bed I put on your videos. And I listen to the sounds. Listening to the loons. The hammering of nails building something. You’re literally changing my life, and I know that sounds weird. Maybe I should say it in a different way. You’re helping me change my life. Thank you.
Watching this from small little room living London with almost not work. Make me think very deeply if I m doing the right thing or living in the right place? May the Lord bless to all people that watch this video!
Me: I've been watching this video with no speaking for two hours. My wife: Then why is the volume so loud? Me: Because the sounds of frying fish, wind through the trees, rain, a waterfall and a flowing river all transition seamlessly.
I for one definitely would however I'm prohibited from doing so since my state has enacted orders which shut down state forests. Can't go hiking, camping, or mountain biking like I used to in the beforefore times

I'm always surprised people hate on videos like this, it's great content, encourages people to get outdoors and live life. Your content is very therapeutic, special, and comforting. Thank you. Keep living in the woods, keep doing your thing, it's awesome.
I love this comment. People like us living in the western world enjoy quite a few advantages but I think we have taken the so-called conveniences too far concerning all the stressful things we do every day. Just driving a car, even if you do it at slow pace, increases your adrenalin level and other cortisol stuff. Staying up half the night using the computer is nice but its blue light interfers with our sleeping patters. I could give you many more examples. No wonder we watch these videos knowing somehow that less can indeed be more. Love from Germany, also struck by covit 19.
Looking back now through 73 years of life I can't thank you enough for the hours of quiet peace I have spent with you at the cabin thinking about all of the things I've seen. Many thanks.
Thank for bringing a few hours of peace to the madness that is going on. So glad there’s common folks who have kept their heads even before the present situation took a life of it’s own, yeah, you rate right up there with a Dr. Bergman SHAWN! Thanks!!!
It's the sort of relaxation that comes of hard daily work and a huge ability to self motivate. His muscles, his sinews, his sweat equity, his mind, and his character willed that homestead into existence. It's like a chronological archive, a 3-D calendar: every nail, every shingle, every object placed, represent exact moments in the man's life. All we have is time, they say, and he has devoted several years of his time on earth to a monument of free will: to one's limited existence in space and time. Lofty stuff, but I guess that'll relax a person.
@@timothyjones8921 Your gift of perception is precisely accurate. That coupled with your ability to translate your observations into meaningful words opens a window that allows those interested to get a glimpse of a brilliant mind at work.
You have done absolute miracles for my mental health. It’s improved 100% since watching your wonderful videos. Please keep them coming. I’am an elderly man and don’t get out much anymore.
Believe me I know they are, I lived in that area for over 35 years. I’m now living on top of a very secluded mountain, not off the grid like Shawn, but secluded. 😊👍🏻

This is your game plan, you did it at the right time Shawn. It's times like these I wish I learned how to use my hands for construction instead of a keyboard.
Land, sweetie. Land. There are those in Singapore...like me, very capable at building. But do we have land? Best of luck bro - dont give up on dreams ...u too, can build, like Shawn! 🙌
Nick I am wishing I learnt the keyboard as it's the future of employment. And land yes is the main factor. I feel like I'm up shit creek without a keyboard or land.

I don't live that far back but am surrounded by mountains, have a creek with an awesome waterfalls wildlife is deer, turkeys, eagles and our resident hawk Moose haven't been around going on 10 years now. We are retired grow our fruit, veggies and meat ( yes I do, the butchering my dad taught me which I love to do , morbid maybe 😜). You might have given up everything to build your little cabin in the woods but you have gain what no amount of money can buy. The sights, the sounds , a wonderful dog, a beautiful wife and a beautiful life close to nature. You truly have it all. I am always looking forward to more of your videos. Stay safe. :)
I wanted to thank you for your wonderful videos! I struggled most of my life with anxiety and chronically depressions, but watching your videos has a big impact of my mind, it's so calming. Not only that, but I can surely tell you, your videos can replace a psycholog. Thanks man, also for the length of your videos are great for getting a free mind :) Many greetings from Germany.
Yes! I totally agree. It’s giving me the benefit of meditation to watch the fabulous content here. It’s very relaxing. It’s just giving me an all around good feeling. I’m dealing with some ferocious anxiety right now myself n I find this soothes my mind. It’s giving me some peace from this bleepin anxiety for sure. High five ✋! I hope you find relief too. 💝🌎💝
I have just come across your videos and have been glued to the TV. You are a very talented carpenter. I am a carpenter myself and can appreciate all the beautiful things you have made to make life easier for you. Your cabins are first-class. 👌👏👏👏
I built my home. It's a spiritual place when I remember every spar, brick and nail I used. As I sit, now old, at my fireplace with a glass of wine it's a joy like unto no other.
The timing of your wife joining you and Cali could not have been more perfect, I trust that you will be safe and well. Thank you for the posting of this lovely and lengthy video to celebrate your accomplishments of the year and bring calm and peace to countless numbers of us who are in our homes. Quite likely many of us will watch this several times to find an element of peace to get us through.
You know what I like about "My Self Reliance", beautiful setting, a larger than life beautiful dog and oh yea, there's some guy who doesn't talk much. What a great way to sip some coffee and review the year. Thank you Mr. James.
How am I supposed to go to bed and sleep when the imagery and scenery your showing us is so beautifully stunning! I had to drag myself away from the TV as it kept me glued to it. Peaceful tranquility at its utmost....I truly love what your doing, and admire your great skills and patience. Respect. From me in New Zealand
I just love it. This guy creates a world in the Canadian wilderness. The seasons change around him, while he builds, fishes, hunts and cooks. He’s his own film crew, with real a skill in producing a very watchable three hours of no talking: just the sound of rain, snow, running rivers, frying fish and a man and his dog. I tell ya, if I didn’t live in the outback doing what I’m doing, I’d love to be doing this ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
John wilmot, some other person a week later than you has posted word for word the same comment as yours,I'm confused and slightly miffed or alarmed at this ,,can you explain it?,,I cant
I literally just now had my husband watch your video of your build of cabin etc.. great timing... we plan to watch as many of your videos this weekend since we are housebound due to state wide shut in policy. We live in the mountains in Shasta county but are looking forward to the possibility to transfer out of state and start a small homestead as we are empty nesters of almost 10 years now.. You are an inspiration.
Its never too late for that, but you might wanna also carefull asses the skills, the area and th level you want to go "in to the wild" Shawn here is doing quite advanced style, although its not completely off grid. Many people would be happy with just having a house 1000 yards from the closest neighbor, some go totally off grid, growing food, animals, no electrictiy or modern tools... so theres levels to how to do it.
King Théoden I agree. It will be in Wisconsin as my husband (engineer for a company here also has a plant in WI) has an opportunity to transfer there. We can get a small home on acreage for a fraction of what we are paying for our home here on 1 acre in the woods here in northern mountains of California. We are 48 and 50 and we want a more self sufficient way of life now that we no longer have kids in the home. We used to live in Oregon until 5 years ago and we just don’t want to spend the rest of our lives on the west coast. A new chapter that we’ve dreamt about for all our 30 yrs of marriage 😉
@@ToniaFlorine My husband and I've been married 40 years, now 63 years old. Love being empty-nesters! We live off-grid 10 minutes from Redding, on top of a mountain near Shasta Lake city and Shasta Dam; so close and yet so far from civilization, growing some of our own food. We're also going to be looking into another place to live; and not in far northern California. Not even in California at all. Oregon or Idaho; definitely much more remote. We want to be more self-reliant. We're not house-bound, and will not live in fear.
James Johnson I agree with you while heartedly.. wow you are very close to us! We’ve been empty nesters since 2009... You guys sound so similar to us. Central Oregon will always be our heart. If we don’t move to Wisconsin as we hope.. then at the very least we plan to get back home to Oregon.. possibly Eastern Oregon if we do. Up here on the mountain it’s a little more challenging to grow as much as we would like.. but it’s doable. So nice to know we aren’t the only ones with this mindset. The sooner we all can get out of this State the better! We’ve lived here for almost 6 years now and that’s 6 years too long. I grew up in S Ca and said I’d never come back until my husband career forced us to 😮 But I know God brought us here for a reason and just praying He’ll get us out sooner rather than later. Good luck to you both! And God speed on seeing your dream come to fruition!
This was amazing. I've struggled with addiction since my early teen years and now at 30 years old, here I am suffering through withdrawal for the literal millionth time yet it never gets any easier. As a young boy my dad was a big outdoorsman and loved taking me and my brother into nature. That's always stuck with me and something like this would be an absolute dream come true yet for years and years I've always been bound to where I am by one thing and that's drugs. Particularly street fentanyl. I've had several very serious close calls with overdose and too many minor ones to count, yet I still can't get away from it. I'd love nothing more than to wake up in a warm and cozy log cabin with a fire going each day, not having to plan my day around making sure I have enough dope each and every day. I haven't taken an actual trip for vacation in many years as I never leave my general area. Watching this video has brought some real peace and comfort to the ridiculous hell I'm experiencing by my own hand and I want to say it was damn beautiful to watch each and every second of it. I felt like I was there with you every step of the way. You remind me so much of my dad, a hardworking man who never asked for a handout or help, always figured things out on his own. I subscribed very quickly
I came across your comment by chance and I want you to know that I’m going to earnestly pray that the chains of your addiction be broken, so you can have a life that you can enjoy instead of one that controls you and bounds you from enjoying the simple things in life. You deserve to be free and I know the one that can help you overcome. Hang in there, it will get better.
@Gigi-py6he I sincerely thank you for the kind words and the prayers. Growing up, I was always "against" God and faith in general, but I have several friends and family members who have beaten their addictions through faith and prayer, so that has to mean something. The older I get, the more I begin to believe that maybe my life got so off track was because of my lack of religion and contact with Jesus and God. I've been trying to pray each night, I'm not so good at it and I do sometimes find myself losing hope at times but I push those thoughts to the back of my mind and continue to talk with God. I hope many great things come your way. These days, it's getting harder and harder to find genuinely nice people out there, but you are certainly an exception. Have a blessed day and thank you again
One of my best friends in this whole entire world ….. is no longer here because fentanyl!!!!! Did he believe in god ….NOPE, it would be amazing if you did but not or will it ever be my place to judge , i will definitely pray for you, but im not going to sit here and give you a pity party or tellyou everything is going to be alright , you have to decide that , i can just tell you opoids , are the worst thing in this world ever invented is it your fault dumb ass scientist and doctors invented something that yes it would help with pain, but yet cause addictions and manny many deaths , once again not blaming anyone or judging anybody, because i love everyone !!!!!! I just want youto know the pain i feel that i will never seehis face again , his smile , his voice , his smart ass remarks and excuse my language , you may not think that there is that one person that it will absolutely rip there soul inhalf to lose you!!!!!!!!!! If this reminds you of your dad , push yourself, be hard , i mean have some one push youif you detox , not to sure how safe it is detoxing off that so i would do my research , and get out there and build something reminding yourself your , your fathers son …… so not only will that remind you of what he did , does ( unsure past, present ) and you can be like damn look what i built , your also prob going to mess up like a million times (and guess what that means your human ) so like said i do dont push religion , its there if you believe , its all about faith , praying i dont think anyone ever is amazing at it , who cares if you want to talk to god , just say how you feel, you can tell him hey i dont really understand how to tslk to you maybe you can help me with that, help me with my addiction , help me grow into the man i know i can be ( or woman lol idont know u ) either way even if you just write it down in a notebook and take baby steps , to get better , it WILL GET BETTER ! I have been on life support , my family didnt know if i was coming home because i was a dumb ass, but i did get a second chsnce , i do get to see my to amzing beautiful boys grow into men , and i was selffish and depressed and did not even think about those two, during that incident , until right before i got into. An ambulance and thats all i remember a week later i came out of coma , and im telling you, my life has changed i am no longer the selfish ass iused to be , ive always had a huge heart and tried to love everyone , now I DO!!!!! I cannot stand hatefulness , any negativity whatsoever , i am blessed to have the chance to hear the birds see my kids walk , ect i wish and pray for you the best of luck and maybe one day,i could hear from you and you say heythis person saved my life , i could only be so greatful to know i helped someone that much , but to know i at least i poured mysould and experiences out to you , that itried , youare loved !!!!!!!!!!!
If I could give this video 100 thumbs up I would! This is a master class in documentary photography, wood working, psychology, nature, and self reliance. You have truly made a masterpiece!
That's some mighty pretty country and the views were outstanding. There's nothing like a shore lunch with fresh fish. You have a life to be envied for anyone who is an outdoor enthusiast. Love your cabin and really enjoy watching your videos. God speed finishing all your projects.
Hi again SHAWN ...And quite a year it was! So much of your vision accomplished along with fires food fun and family too. What a surprise to find a movie replacing a vid! No doubt this is also one of your finest creations. How lovely this has been remembering so much of your year but also how you captured the seasons of life with the beautiful drone shots. The glorious scenery in your world is breathtaking to include my favorite single orange fall tree and the many crystal clear water features. The music compliments the calm quiet magic of it all. Peace and harmony to cherish! Thank you so much Shawn for making this very special gift for all to see. And of course for sharing Cali living her best forever life... These sites and sounds have warmed my heart tonight as I remember some of the same from days gone by... Thank you more then I can say...
If TH-cam had awards this would hands down win best docuseries especially for cinematography. James, my friend, you are amazing at what you do. I am sure that your great wife had something to do with this episode as well and all I can say is I need a nap after watching this!! So relaxing. What a pleasure. What a journey. I just want to personally thank you for this. Stumbled upon it and can honestly say I have not been so enveloped and mesmerized by a video before. Shawn: I am watching this episode on a Saturday morning (3/21/20), and have to save the second half of this wonderful review of the 2019 seasons. I cannot best describe my appreciation for the enormous effort that you put into this presentation. Having been a professional videographer (National Specialty Dog Shows) for over 20 years, I know what this work represents. The color-composition-sounds-music-and capturing those special moments of the year with Cali are OVER THE TOP. The Fall segment starting in September is particularly spectacular. I felt like I was living the experience with you. I'm saving the second half for tomorrow morning over a great cup of coffee to celebrate 2019 with you. THANK YOU, and give Cali a BIG SMOOCH from Mike & Ronnie. GOD BLESS
We can all go to the wilderness like Shawn and get away from this contagious world we are in right now. At least Mr.James here will survive and start a new world over.
This is the most inspiring film I have seen in years...helped me tremendously as I am on lockdown in Spain....I miss my family in the US but this has calmed me down and made me appreciate my simple life here...thanks so very much..!
So far in this world I never see or came across in my life a person like you Mr Shawn Jame's. You was once a high flyer working in the busy office as a CEO in the company incharge of hundred of peoples. And you make your final decision to surrender your status and turn your whole new life in the wilderness in Canada. All the great changes you make and built your own Log Cabin with your hard working, knowledgeable, dedicated, intelligent, endurance, personal courage and last but not least you have the patience to carry out your duty without giving up each and everyday to set up your own Log Cabin like a palace to stay in the wilderness. Your are the role model to show the whole world that we can learnt from. I never feel tired watching and follow up your vedio to see every movement you make. And I wonder where you gained your energy which never make you feel tired and your perseverance give you your end result with golden satisfaction to look at. Well done Mr Shawn Jame's. I pray to God to Safe your life and stay strong and healthy always. 🙌🙌🙌😇😇😇👨👨👨🙌🙌🙌🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍👍👍👏👏👏🤗🤗🤗
Thank you for helping us all through covid, without watching your films I would never be able to escape the city during lockdowns, they are a lifeline and so chilled.
When they ask me what it means to be rich, I answer: living in an off-grid wooden cabin by the lake, fishing and being self-sufficient. Here is my dream that I could not realize, you sir have made my dream come true, congratulations and thank you.
This was the best video series I have ever watched. Made me feel like I was there too. Such brilliant building and surviving skills. The nature shots were amazing. The Dog stole my heart and so did you.
Everything that I saw in the creation of this beautiful corner, all the skills that this man possesses are to be respected. What I admire most is the carpentry skill, I look forward to the spread of this beauty. Great respect and enjoyment of the beauty of nature and wood.
Pizza, the food of the gods no matter where you're at. Thank you for this, it brought back memories of being in the woods with my dad, running trap lines, catching fish, making things without buying everything.
Thank you! This has been a totally inspiring 3 + hours. Although I have spent most of my life in the U.K., I was born in NY and spent a fair amount of time in my early childhood in the Catskill Mountains. Now in my later years, I yearn to get back to nature, at least part time. To see the change in seasons, the beautiful colours in the fall, simply took my breath away. We don't get that range of colour in England. On a good day in Autumn, its yellow and brown and if your lucky... you will see a red leaf, maybe two on a very special day... Your woodsman craftsmanship is sublime. It makes me wish I could relive my life and steer it to learn all the skills you have to make such a wonderful and truly amazing home. In the 80's I made corporate/training videos (and a few pop videos) so I am experienced enough to say your film is outstanding, even with it's length. Your dog is also such a star. What is that red thing he is so attached to? Be well take care, I will hit the subscribe button (for the first time ever!).
Hi Shawn. I'm only 35 minutes into this wonderfully distracting video. A breath of fresh air from the current world events. This is perfect timing. Thank you. I'm trying to spread the viewing out. Thank you for sharing and all the hard work that goes into creating this for us.❤️
Just found your channel . I've been watching this video for the last 2+hrs and am so impressed I had to comment. The wilderness views, the music, your day to day work, the gentle dog, is all amazing. I grew up in Appalachia and it reminds me of old timers that lived as you, where I was playing in the hills and creeks, seeing the wildlife. I'm thankful I was blessed in that way. Since I've gotten older (now living in Africa) I realize the secret to life is to live as simply, independently, and peacefully as possible. Thank you good sir, I'm gladly subscribing.
This video is a Masterpiece! A blessing for us while we Shelter in Place and a beautiful slice of history for you to reflect back on in the coming years. Thank you for the high quality of your videos, the interesting content and the glorious music.
I am a new subscriber and I've been loving watching your videos lately because they give me the same sense of peace that I feel when I'm out at my cabin. Even though I live in the country there is something completely different that I feel and crave when it comes to actually being out in the middle of nowhere! My family owns 100 acres in south western NY where we hunt and spend many weekends at. In the last few years I've built a tiny cabin with the help of my dad and my grandfather. There is just something about being out in nature and being self reliant that brings this amazing peacefulness that I can't seem to find anywhere else. I love seeing Cali in your videos and I also love the one of you and your daughter camping together. Your cabin came out amazing and I look forward to watching more of your videos! :)
An hour into this I figured out the quality goes up to 4K / 2160. Its absolutely breathtaking in 720. All I can say is thank you for taking us along. May God bless you and all who are fortunate enough to see this.
Wife & me are 82 now, and have been home bound for the better part of 2 yrs. now. We have done most of the things one way or another that you, Doug, Joe, & Scrambled O, have done. So now we relive doing those things right along with you guys all the time here on your channels. What a blessing it is to be able to do that. We admire your skills, and we understand the patience that it took to stay with it and accomplish what you have in such a short time. We wish you and your sweet wife & girls all the best that God provides. Danny & Louise
At these times when in Spain we have to be confined in our homes by the Coronavirus, watching your videos helps us to get out of the daily monotony and momentarily live us out of our confinement. From here we wish you all the best in these difficult times.
Really an amazing program, he is so relaxed and enjoying what he does without the fear of animals around him, he is really a craftsman who knows exactly what he is doing, I so much appreciate his talent and his dog is cute too 👍🏿.
No need, really, to fear the animals. Bears, wolves, coyotes, etc, despite the stories, don't generally mess with humans. Plus, he has the tools he needs to deal with them if they do get aggressive with him. Add to that the higher point in his cabin, he has safety. You need to be aware of what animals are capable of, but also understand they are just living too.

Shawn: I often head for dreamland at the close of a busy day thinking about the adventure of living in the dense woods as you do. When I was some.fifty years younger I camped wilderness settings. Now I watch your adventures and ease the way to pleasant sleep. Thank you.
I really admire you and your wife, especially in this difficult time. I'm in the process of convincing my husband, wish me luck.
Your beautiful Cali chasing the snow still make me smile and laugh!

My Self Reliance Your very valued in this world
That was such a beautiful video James.
Marc,
We are all in trouble, its hitting us in increments.

@@Mulberrysmile I love that!!💞 Focusing on being proactive, serving others...
:) thanks
He does a great job that's for sure! Multi-talented.
Well said.
Plus movie star handsome! His wife is a blessed woman.
@RİZALASKATRA I think his videos speak for themselves and say it all : )

I understand what your channel is about now. It’s about peace. It’s about self-reliance. For over a year now I’ve been watching your channel. It’s made me appreciate nature, hard work, solitude, man’s best friend. It’s about capturing the sounds of nature. Crackling of the fire. Chopping wood. The sounds of a river. It’s about appreciating an accomplished project. when I go to bed I put on your videos. And I listen to the sounds. Listening to the loons. The hammering of nails building something. Love from Germany, also struck by covit 19.

i’m a 16 year old boy and i’m just so relaxed and calm watching this, making me rethink my life. amazing video brother

Tonia Florine THATS WHAT IM TALKING ABOUT
Its never too late for that, but you might wanna also carefull asses the skills, the area and th level you want to go "in to the wild" Shawn here is doing quite advanced style, although its not completely off grid.

If TH-cam had awards this would hands down win best docuseries especially for cinematography. James, my friend, you are amazing at what you do. I am sure that your great wife had something to do with this episode as well and all I can say is I need a nap after watching this!! So relaxing. What a pleasure. What a journey. What an adventure thank you again for letting us all come along
TH-cam has awards.
Canada is just lovely country, people are nice and friendly, they really enjoy the outdoors . Thanks Shawn for sharing your awesome freedom.
3 hours of Shawn goodness. A blessed relieve in these troubled times. Cheers and stay safe everybody.
And exhale.... watching these amazing videos is just what the doctor ordered. The longer they are, the more i love them. Sending enormous thanks, respect and admiration all the way from Sydney Australia...
Thank you, something great to watch while stuck in the house. 👌🏽👍
Para ser honestos nos encantó esta forma de compartir y restaurar, vivir y gozar de cada temporada tiene nuestra atención y felicitaciones no nos aburrimos para nada simplemente nos fascinó 🎉😊
I don't know, how can I could watch 3 hours of no sound video and even so pay attention.
It's awesome the life that God wanted to us.
Greetings from Brazil 🇧🇷 and sorry for my bad English
I would love to do that in Brazil. Can’t wait to go back.
Your English is just fine!!!
@@sdvidal2121 you're so kind, thanks ☺
I like that over all of this time you have not only been living completely free but you’ve allowed your doggy friend to be completely free with you.
Love the work you do

Shawn, I just want to say that, although I never comment, I've watched you from the very beginning. Thank you so much for what you do. I'm almost finished with this video, but when it's over I'm just going to start it again. Beautiful, wholesome and very much needed stuff right now. Thank you.
I am on my second viewing too the footage is amazing, both he and his wife shoot the landscape footage such a talented couple.
I show my teen grandsons what you've done. So thankful there are still men out there who can do this. I wasn't taught life survival skills off land. Learning as I go.
I just want to personally thank you for this. Stumbled upon it and can honestly say I have not been so enveloped and mesmerized by a video before. The sheer brilliance and wonder of your building/surviving on a day to day basis and taking steps to further solidify independence is nothing short of inspiring.
Thank you

Well you sure made the right choice building in your little slice of heaven.... thanks for sharing and I hope you and your family are all well, oh and of course your red haired girl!
Father and son team you are awesome I have enjoyed watching the cabin evolve into something if beauty. Keep up the awesome craft.
Working all day, every day and still move that camera around, filming, and editing. Just wow.
GOD BLESS
While the rest of the world panics, Mr James is resting easy.

Absolutely beautiful country. Thank you for sharing all of this with us. Something I have always loved, the outdoors. God bless.
Jeez, sitting here having a cold beer watching this is so incredibly relaxing. Thank you for taking the time to share this.
I can’t explain how much i envy you and the life you’re living . So simple, so pure. I wish so much i was there with you , thank you for this video.
Soooooo hard.
I feel the same way!
We can all go to the wilderness like Shawn and get away from this contagious world we are in right now. At least Mr.James here will survive and start a new world over.
It’s Shawn, James is his surname.
@@mishmash9116 Thanks!
Ich bin so mega begeistert. Diese Wahnsinns Bilder der Natur. Dein Leben mit dem Hund. Du bist der Wahnsinn. Ich liebe dein Leben 💕
There is one thing that bothers me..You will never guess what it is?
Thank you for helping us all through covid, without watching your films I would never be able to escape the city during lockdowns, they are a lifeline and so chilled.
When they ask me what it means to be rich, I answer: living in an off-grid wooden cabin by the lake, fishing and being self-sufficient. Here is my dream that I could not realize, you sir have made my dream come true, congratulations and thank you.
Absolutely amazing what you have achieved! And I just love how your dog is having the time of its life by your side!
That pupper fetches like no other! 💕
This was the best video series I have ever watched. Made me feel like I was there too. Such brilliant building and surviving skills. The nature shots were amazing. The Dog stole my heart and so did you.
Absolutely! 🇺🇸🙏

A great job. Tks
I can't stop looking
Gloriously beautiful. Truly a sanctuary Kind of speechless, looking at all the beauty. Stay safe up there in the land of Oz.
🌼🌸Sure needed this beautiful, relaxing, visual time warp of yours today! Thank you Shawn and Cali! Wishing you and your's a safe and happy weekend🌸🌼
This video is a Masterpiece! A blessing for us while we Shelter in Place and a beautiful slice of history for you to reflect back on in the coming years. Thank you for the high quality of your videos, the interesting content and the glorious music.
I am so imptessed, now that's a man. So Beautiful there. He is so talented and love his 🐕 .what a nice companion ❤
tou-che wwholeheartedly ,... he is soothing . Yes a Man for sure , a great way to be ..

Great to watch while we are all stuck indoors / Thanks stay safe
This guy is the goat at making me want to do anything in the woods. Simply amazing Shawn!
I love comming here. Thanks for editing and uploading. It takes a skill that I'm glad you have honed. ...Amongst others.
Hope y’all are still happy and healthy 🥹🙏

Thank you.
