I know you had to stop doing these types of series for health purposes but god man they were so incredible to watch. Thanks for uploading a full movie for season 6!
Also bringing the fam around and sharing with your kiddos is awesome. My kids were fascinated learning how to dress our chickens. As basic as it is, a skill probably 95% of our current generations have never done and have no idea how to. Keep passing it on!
Plant Jerusalem artichoke. It can be left in the ground until you are ready to eat it. Has similar nutrients to potatoes but they don't have to be removed from the ground to keep them from spoiling.
You always double up on footage and it freaks me out. I swear you do it on purpose to see if we are actually watching. To me, it makes me think I’m even crazier than I actually am; or actually think I am. I do love your survival challenges. I’ll be homeless and living in my car soon due to a horrible divorce and you give me inspiration. Thank you.
Great video. I have a friend who uses a cement mixer to clean the walnuts. He puts the walnuts in and fills it with water. Then turns it on and let's it run until they come out clean.
Hi/ great episode. You talked about starting to plant. I'm 50 ish and just learned how to make pizza dough/ then other doughs. 1 1/2 cups very warm water, salt, pack of yeast, sugar, dab of oil/ whisk. Add 3 1/2 cup ish of flour. Knead for few/ let rise. Easy shmeezy. Same with pancakes as you guys always make. Breads is key to win challenge. Learn how easy it is. Bushel of wheat is 1000 square feet aboutish. Don't know anything about milling or winnowing or threshing. I guess yeast can natural such as putting dough under certain trees or bushes. But never tried. Just figured you guys always score on proteins, breads would be a cartwheel over weight gain. Have a good one.
Legit. While so many of the "solo surviving off only what I eat" vids are complete junk where they pick and choose and basically just are out for the afternoon to make a fake video. Yours are LEGIT. Legit survival. Legit homesteading. Legit foraging. Love the content man!
Congrats on 6th year. Great format this year with having a home base. Definitely my favorite subject on surviving with what can get. 99.9% on this subject are "cook, camp, solo survive 12 hours"... So thanks for doing it proper.
I'm a native Texan but lived in W.v. for five years. I used to keep my hunting clothes outside on a clothesline and would periodically beat them with spruce branches a few days before a hunt. I also used oversized cheap white Tyvek painters suits in the winter to blend in with the snow. I've had mule deer come within 5' of me on still hunts and tracked them to within 100' while following tracks. I only step when they do and try not to walk with a steady rhythm. They dont mind as much if you sweep your feet through snow as much as the sound of regularly stepping though the crunchy top layer of snow. I had a tom cat who helped me squirrel hunt and i could direct him to walk past a tree so a squirrel would run back to my side so i could get a shot. As a reward i would twist one of their heads off and he'd carry it around all day.
Never thought of using a pressure? Comparing cooking times(frozen to fork-fall of the bone tender) is super short...would break down those proteins down super nice 👌 Don't get me wrong, huge fan of cast everything ++++ over the wood stove. 🍻
As a hunter myself, the one thing that drives me nuts is I have to wake up at 3 am, drive over an hour from my home, sit in a freezing tree stand, and remain perfectly quiet, making sure the deer can't hear or smell me... Meanwhile, while driving back with a buck in my trunk, I have to HONK at a local suburban deer to get the hell out of my way as they just stand there, causing traffic...
I remember discovering you around the end of lockdown but genuinely watchinf your videos brought peace to my heart - genuinely such a good character and the videos banged - pray god makes your health better ❤
The heavy stuff! I'm not good with that stuff, but I think it's like #3 or something...the heaviest they sell works best. Duck load won't drop them good.
I don't know if it's a Canadian thing or if you guys just don't want to mess with it, but your stews will taste better if you pan sear the meat before you put it into the stock. I think pro cooks call it the Maillard effect or something along those lines, but the charring of the protein gives it a deeper flavor profile. Here in the US we mostly can't hunt crows because of a treaty agreement with Mexico. They don't kill Bald Eagles (our national bird) and we don't kill Ravens (their national bird) and crows are considered ravens for the intent of the treaty. I have eaten some barbecued crow breasts on a late Sunday afternoon and then went to my night shift job that evening. I was in a JLG bucket lift with a co-worker and good friend doing a job up high that night and squeaked out the quietest and most deadly fart I've ever passed in my life. I think we both considered jumping out of the bucket, it was so bad. I know that it had to be the crow that fueled the noxious fart and wonder if you guys have ever experienced the same with crow or any of the other wild and unorthodoxed meats that you've consumed in your many adventures with wild foods?
With the trout bones......make them until crispy and then toss them in to a pot with the bones from the squirrels, raccoons, and geese and make bone broth.....cook them until the bones crumble and you are golden
Kinda cool fun stuff. Curious if you bought or wild harvested the wild rice. Think Cananada is the only place where wild rice still found. Like to see other wild starches, carrot, hopniss, wapatoe, or cattail cause we all know the keto diet, is a "diet".
I am loving this season of wild living. I find this more wholesome as can see the years of hard work building up to create the environment around you more versatile for wilderness survival. I don't know what your local laws are about seeding the forests with wild seed/ grain plants.
I was 12 with an air gun 177. Old Chinese air gun had great quality. Hunting sparrows and doves . Cooking them over the fire with some tomatoes from my granny's garden. Borrowing a loaf of bread and eating what we got. Coming back home and mom saying "son dinner is ready" and I was proudly saying " we ate already with my friends" . Dad was looking at me saying he is feeding himself already with that smile. Best days of my life past with some of those friends , mom and dad and granny . I am feeding myself and my family now but I am not that proud. I am not that happy and the life is not that bright . Leave your phones, little ones . There is a real world outside waiting for you . When you became older that world will change too. Catch the moments
Just because you lose weight at first doesn’t mean you wouldn’t survive long term. Eventually ypur metabolism will adjust and slow down, and resulting in a plateau in your weight.
Come here to Michigan you can limit out on Canadian chicken in any business parking lot. They walk in front of you and won't move all the time. You can limit out with a sling shot
Find the show really interesting and informative! You must be sick of apple flavor by the end of it.. but love how you guys make a stew out of… everything…😂 you guys killing all the animals listed from the song “on the first day of Christmas”.. except a partridge
Deer must be different there cuz the absolute best time to hunt deer is in the rainy and cold!! They like to keep moving to stay warm.. in California deer season the only time I’ve ever shot deer is in the rain .. I seen over 400 deer in 3days in the rain and then not a single deer fir the rest of the season in the sun.. so I’ve learned to absolutely love the rain cuz that’s when you see deer here
Remember about weights. In beginning, its all based on what you ate and how much before you weighing. That should be same thing at the end. ❤ otherwise weight will be up or down.
I know you had to stop doing these types of series for health purposes but god man they were so incredible to watch. Thanks for uploading a full movie for season 6!
I agree❤
Would be nice if they grow grain on the side to keep the weight

Good morning from Syracuse NY USA everyone thank you for sharing your adventures
I would love to see an update on the cabin video showing how it's held up over the years. Gotta be 5 years old now?
Plant Jerusalem artichoke. It can be left in the ground until you are ready to eat it. Has similar nutrients to potatoes but they don't have to be removed from the ground to keep them from spoiling.
We need more series with you and Jeremy 💯

Among the very best videos I have seen you make. Enjoy the long format.
So how long does it take too hunt out a location deplete most the game
Haha. The reenactment of taking racoon is hilarious. Great movie. Kevin Costner would be proud.
lol. I couldn't believe it just walked out of the wood in the middle of the day.
Try layout blinds for your goose hunts lay in the decoys you will like it
Here in Oklahoma we have wild persimmons and walnuts in the woods without ponds or streams.

So excited for the new season!!
Looks like Jeremy has a Cooey Model 60. Classic Canadian .22 Have one myself though minus the tape. LOL
Yeah, do a garden, that would be cool. Even if some of it was a raise garden. Your brother could come up with something cool to build.

Yo Scott that was Vibranium it seems. Also can you start mixing fire recipes in them zombie heads ? 😂

u should try deer decoys, i use them and 100% draws deer from a very good distance away and puts them right where u want them…. if u cant bait….
I've never tried, maybe I will one day.

I wonder , doesn´t the animals get ruin or something like that after being dead and not eaten by couple days ?
If you are up that way could you raise some chickens for eggs plus announcer food source or rabbits ??

Why don’t y’all make a bunch of snares, and trap. Seems like it would be less labor intensive.
What kinda air gun is that l?
I love your work good job
You should hunt for nightcrawlers. Bring us on for that small adventure.
Just saw the fishing poles. Reason for this comment.
I like chicken fried squirrel in lard. You then put it in a thin white gravy and simmer it on low for an hour. The meat will fall off the bone.
Let’s goooo ❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
