    Here is the part I used:

    Thanks for posting this! I had the same problem with my 2019 1500 and replacing the 4WD actuator fixed it. I jacked up the front passenger side of the truck so less than 2 ounces of gear oil spilled out. Whole repair took less than 30 minutes.

      What were your symptoms? My trucks stuck in 4wd and it happened when i switched to 4wd and something clunked and now it says 4wd serv and i cant take it out of 4wd

    Thanks for your video! My son has a 2020 Laramie 1500 5.7 liter. Although it looks a little different underneath, the replacement went well. Your video was a great help.

    If you jack up the wheel on the side that has the actuator about 2 inches higher than the other side and let it sit for an hour or so, most of the gear oil in the long axle tube will drain into the center section - so you won't have to replace much (or any) gear oil while doing this.

    Outstanding video! They say that the more skilled one is the easier they make the procedure look. Looks like this will take me a day! Thanks, Dave. I’ve subscribed and will recommend your channel to everyone I know!

    Appreciate your video, I have same issue exactly 2020 RAM 1500, I think my truck can be covered with 3yrs warranty related the power train issue. It's very helpful video. Thank you.

    Great video! I have a 2021 RAM 1500 Big Horn and just recently threw the service ESC/service 4WD/service trailer brake errors. Been looking at a number of other RAM forums and I'm leaning towards this as the issue (already checked every fuse and NADA) So, I purchased a OBDLink MX+ for diagnostics before I have to crawl to the dealership. When removing the bad axle disconnect do you have to replace the trans axle fluid? And, how do you do that? That seemed like a lot leaking out over the 17 minutes. That said, I really appreciate the video!

    • @DavesBuild
      @DavesBuild  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! There is a fill plug on the side I believe. Can't remember where exactly but there is one. I run synthetic 75-90. I would go ahead and change the fluid while at it.

      Thanks. I am actually going to have the dealership take a look since this is still under warranty. I’m curious to hear what they say before going my own route with the repair.

      My son jacked his truck up from the right side only. Very little fluid ran out, less than 1 ounce, not because it was low in fluid, but because most of it ran to the left in the axle. I've seen other people do that on TH-cam to save that expensive fluid.

    Love your video and very helpful. I just ordered the actuator from Rock Auto. However, I saw the gear oil leak out. Did you have to refill it? I did not notice that in the video. Thanks!!

      Thank you! I did top off the gear oil. I was parked slightly downhill, which is why I lost a bit.

    Good video. So if I have to replace this part , maybe it’s best to drain the case and refill when done.

    • @DavesBuild
      @DavesBuild  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would be a tad less messy and a good time to replace the fluid! I was parked slightly downhill is why a lot more came out than expected. I already serviced my diff is why I tried to do it without draining but I did top off when done.

    Dave, a question: what sort of scan tool do I need to diagnose this 4WD problem? I just turned 67 and fell 13 feet a few years ago so I don’t get around real well therefore I don’t splurge on tools and equipment very often. I’ve gone from doing body off frame Corvette restorations to having to divide my tools into about 10 small boxes that I can carry. I don’t recommend getting old. It sucks! I’m really excited about doing this job myself. If successful I’ll then feel only 99% useless!

      Along with AlfaObd program. It is around $50 and can be found at Alfaobd.com

    • @DavesBuild
      @DavesBuild  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't experienced the Shift service but if I had to guess, because you did get a 4WD Service light, it may be the transfer case shift actuator. Do you have the AlfaObd by chance?
