I couldn't help but notice when you showed the old light bulb hanging from the ceiling that there was an adapter so you could also use the ceiling outlet for electric appliances and such. That was very common in the house I grew up in and of course my neighbor's houses. It was also a sign that you couldn't afford to have more electric run inside the rooms. So the adapter was a quick fix. I can remember seeing ironing boards under the lights and the irons plugged into the adapter.
My understanding is that those adopters were popular in the early 1900s. Reason being in the early days, electric companies offered two rates. One low rate for electric lighting and a much higher rate for electric appliances. That rate structure went out the window when people started buying the adopters so they could use their appliances at the lower rate. That and as the utility companies increased their generating capacity, they didn't care what people used the electricity for. At that point they wanted their customers to use as much electricity as possible.
I love this! I can see myself fixing up and decorating this one! That little sink on the back porch! And in the bedroom. It would have to stay just for cuteness! Nice house. It needs to be a home again.
My Granny had a sink on the back porch. When it was mealtime, she'd holler outside to come in and 'warsh' up, that it was time to eat. That's where we'd wash up before coming in the house to eat. I look back now, and figure that was better than us all trying to get in the bathroom and trashing it! 😊
Well said!! Yeah that sink was certainly a unique feature! Wish I could go back in time and ask the people there reasoning! Thank you very much for watching!! :)
Must be near a freeway or something because you can hear lots of traffic passing this house. The noise of the traffic may be one of the reasons why it’s abandoned.
Really liked this house, looks massive downstairs but with only two bedrooms upstairs, good to see it was just how they left it with no vandalism, loved the front porch too.
The room with the sink in the corner on the ground floor must have been another bedroom. There's no way a house that size would have had just two bedrooms.
Both my grandparents had homes built around 1880s with two front doors. One was in the Midwest the other in extreme SW Missouri (Ozarks). Same layout as the first floor of this home. Living room & kitchen on left side & bedrooms on the right. No hallway. The bedrooms were all connected. Must have been common back in 1800s.
Such a beauty Kappy! In some rooms, it almost looks like it’s still livable. The crutches in the corner has a sad feeling about them. I love the fireplace and the big front porch is calling my name! Lol! Me and those porches! lol! Thanks you Kappy for your amazing work! You’re the best! Stay safe. 😊
The lightening rods on top of the house are rare-too bad they aren’t taken down. What a cool house. Well built and solid. That could be renovated and lived in I bet.
You found a GEM with this one. I was surprised that there wasn't more furniture ect inside. The 2 pieces of furniture together looked like an old radio, and the one in front is called a credenza. I have one almost the same as this one. They would have it sitting in the dining room with their China on it for fancy holidays ect. That bathroom downstairs looked like my tiny little bathroom. Just put a tub on the far side and that's how big mine is. My Mr, when we moved here said it was the perfect set up for someone with the flu. 😮 It's the truth too! 😊 Keep them coming Mr Kappy! I love watching! Thanks for taking me along Mr Kappy! 😊
The foundation must still be in tact mostly. The roofing is a beautiful red but could use a good red metal roof. Love the bigness of all of it. Would strip the paint off the trim, crown molding, the doors, and the wainscoting, and hopefully see a medium brown wood through out, put some new plumbing but keeping the old style, new electric, central heating and air conditioning through out. Deck it with redone antique chandeliers, and wall lights, Weather trim all over, beautiful area rugs and some worthy beautiful draperies, and beautiful antique furniture.for starters. The kitchen made farm style, antique cupboards. Nice big fridge and a grand old upright rinkytink piano, and harp and other instruments. And a large pet room that has an adjacent pet pen enclosure,Why not have it all?! Beautiful place, and with redone fire places. Are we ready? Thanks Kappy for the stroll into this beautiful old house👍🦇🕸🕷🦗🦟🐿🐭Put them in an out building Ha! And add a few pets.❤
The one upstairs would have replaced a wash stand, but the one in the living room was quite odd. Did the little added bathroom not have room for a sink, maybe?
Gorgeous. The high ceilings & parlor doors take me back to a house in southern Alabama where I spent many good years as a kid. The view from the front with the big trees is awesome, and man, if that front sidewalk could speak. Great job as always Kappy.
This is a wonderful example of country federal architecture. The exterior reminds me a lot of Summit Plantation house in South Carolina. What a gem! I hope it is acquired by someone who will give it the attention it deserves. Thank you, Kappy !
Have you noticed in your explorations that the houses with metal roofs have less water damage? Seems like that was a good plan for vintage homes. Another thing I’ve noticed is how close so many abandoned houses are to highways that probably weren’t present when the home was built. Wonder how much that had to do with the houses being abandoned. I really loved this house.
So true!! Those metal roofs really do last the longest!! I’ve heard can get over 50 years from a good well put on metal roof! I’d do that or a slate roof if I was rich lol! Thanks for watching!! :)
What a great house!! Weird it only had 2 bedrooms upstairs… you would think it would have more!! Love the screened in porch! Would have been nice for the hot summer nights to sleep out there with no bugs…. I truly wish someone would save it…. I know it takes alot of money and work but dang it looks like it could be saved! Was that an outdoor kitchen to the side? I couldn’t tell if it was attached or not…. The house was a bit of a maze on the first floor…. Great exploring as usual Kappy!!! Thank you 😊
I love this house! It’s such a shame such a unique build will crumble or be torn down for developments. Oh I wish I had money to renovate these gorgeous places that are full of history.
I noticed that the house appears to have a metal roof. That’s what has saved it so far. The metal roof prevented water from getting in and rotting everything.
I love seeing homes that are 200 years and still standing which would probably attribute to the metal roof. A lot of neat features that you just don’t see in cookie cutter houses. Thank you for sharing Kappy 😊✌️
I love this house, so many windows, doors and rooms! It seemed like the farm house I used to live in, only this house had bathroom inside, ours was an outhouse and bathroom next door at my aunts.
Wonder why there were sinks by the fireplaces? I would love to explore, but, there could be something or someone in there hiding! Especially since the front door was not closed. But, such cool houses. Love to hear their history. 🌻
Love this one! From the avocado green shag carpet, to the old pencil sharpener on the closed-in original outdoor deck wall, to the 1971 calendar! Lots of fun. Did you check to see if there was a signature on that large painting? That looked like it could be an Antiques Roadshow find! 😁
This is such a great house and it was very enjoyable to watch you go through it. I think the red tags on the furniture could mean that there was an auction here at one time. They must have sold off the antiques and such.😍😍😍
I like this house very much. Front porch, big rooms, lots of windows. My kind of place. The random sinks are a bit odd but im sure there was a reason at the time. Thanks, Kappy
Yet again, another awesome location! 👏🏼 you by far are my favorite explorer! Never have I see a so so video of yours! Always spectacular!❤ Good stuff!👍🏼 Please be safe!☺️

For being that old it sure looks good. That says a lot about the workmanship of this place. Made to last and withstand the weather and Mother Nature. Love the ship lap walls upstairs but no bathroom up there and there was a chain on the door that leads up. Wonder what that was about. Great explore have a great day
Very cool! The sinks in the bedrooms remind me of some of the explores I've seen in from Europe -- or at least in the Uk. It seemed to be a very common feature in country homes and It makes sense. I assume these replaced the old-fashioned washstands with the bowl and pitcher sets that we see in antique stores. I have not seen this so much in American urban exploring channels. LOL . But, then, Kappy is pretty much the only American channel I watch with any kind of regularity. And that is a high compliment to you Kappy! :)
Good point about the sink!! Appreciate the insight and different perspectives always!! Thank you very much for the kind words and watching!! Glad you enjoy!! :)
Loved this house! Looks like it was used as a rooming house hence the sinks in those rooms other than the kitchen or bath. I can imagine the landlady having a sing-along at the piano in the parlor, or maybe she gave piano lessons to neighborhood children. It's fun to speculate what went on inside the beautiful old places. Thanks, Kappy.
Hi Kappy! Happy Saturday to you!! Oh if this house could talk! It is so beautiful in those beginning... opening shots, and that front porch. Wow!!! Absolutely fantastic house! Thank you so much for taking us with you today! See you next week!!
interesting find. I once read in a realtor's description of an old house that was equipped with working sinks in every bedroom, that the house was originally built as an old hotel. Made me think of that, seeing this old house with a sink plumbed into every room as well as the back enclosed veranda. Two front doors? Apartments, maybe? and the assortment of crutches and canes was notable, suggesting old folks or invalids? Then the piano adorned with so much music... church music with titles and the page notations. Apparently, the purpose of old 'plantation' house was changed to fit the folks that occupied it in later years, though, still, long ago, from back when folks gathered around the piano for entertainment and spiritual nourishment. Images that conjure up so much possible history or, at least, stories from another time. Thanks for the journey, Kappy. Thanks for the memories.
Kappy i love your explores allways beautiful old homes i can't believe how much is left of this 200 year old house so big i love how your homes were built with mostly timbers not like in the uk we mostly have brick built homes thanks for sharing your finds .
Ahhh the old piano.. a signiture piece of most old abandoned homes.. When this house is long gone, the piano will probably still be there! Nobody wants to move those lol ! What a neat old place !! Thanks Kappy for another great vid!
Weird , all them sinks. Maybe next to the fireplaces in case of an accident ? Would hate to think of the electric bills in such a big ol place with them electric heaters. Cool place though.
Hah, when they got indoor plumbing they went a little nuts with it! Sinks everywhere and two bathrooms on the bottom floor. I agree with you about the back rooms being a porch that got enclosed. The front porch is glorious, I bet they slept there when the weather was hot. Love the big, bright windows, the woodwork, and all the ups and downs in the layout. Nice old place with good vibes. There's an orb at 5:16. 😊
What a great place! I'm sure it was a grand place in its day. I love that it sits on a hill and of course the fantastic screened very large front porch. I'm a porch kinda guy. I'd be sitting there as much as I could. Thanks for another great adventure Kappy! 🤠👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
What a lovely and very odd house! Two front doors and no front foyer with a staircase- only two bedrooms upstairs and that huge rambling downstairs🤔 I wish I had been at the table to hear the original designer discussion! The 2 small sinks seemed very European as seen in old house exploration videos in Europe. That front porch! Could live in it 24/7 in good weather. Yet another home to put on the list of Needs To Be Saved! Thank you Kappy!
I love the moldings around the front doors and the huge porch! Good find, looks pretty solid and kind of “clean” lol Bet it was a boarding house with those sinks in the 2 bedrooms plus so many door latches and chains. Great video as always thank you! -John
If this house was mine it would be knocking some walls down so it wouldn't be so many doorways but beautiful house great find kappy and thanks for showing the whole house.
That's a cool old farmhouse. Wonder what's with all the sinks? The back porch l got, cuz men would wash up after farmwork before entering the kitchen. Why??? do people go nuts with a paintbrush? Bet the original woodwork is nice. Two front doors were so men could come into the farmers office without tracking in mud, disturbing the ladies, and smoke. Thanks, Kappy, hi Ruby! 🌳
I love the old house. Back then they didn't put in insulation and good wiring. That alone would cost a lot. It's a shame these old houses go to dust. That piano could have been donated to a church. 😊❤
I wish I had the money to invest in restoring most of the houses you have shown. I know I would be able to turn around and sell them on their beauty alone.
You're one of THE BEST videographers on TH-cam. You capture everything...right down to the detail...in your video. The plus: snap shots of the area as well, as your film. Totally enjoy your videos. Thank you for sharing.
Nice to see a house that hasn't been ravaged by vandals or falling in on its self
Have some really neat ones on the way! Thank you for watching!! :)
The metal roof is what makes the difference.
I agree
Oh; how I wish someone would save this beauty. Thank you Kappy. You never let us down. You made this old lady happy on this dreary Saturday.

Every time I decided one of these houses are my favorite along comes another one that you find and I have to change my mind. This one is my favorite.
If this house was mine it would be knocking some walls down so it wouldn't be so many doorways but beautiful house great find kappy and thanks for showing the whole house.
This is the one I’ve been waiting for. It sure didn’t disappoint. Thank you Kappy!!
Much appreciated for the kind words and watching!! :)
wish i had the money and fix this beautiful house! thanks for sharing! enjoy watcing it,greetings from the netherlands
Thanks again for the journey! Exploring these places would be my dream vaca.
Interesting old house, in the beautiful countryside. I would love to see it brought back to it's original state.
Another awesome 😎💯 explore kappy love the front porch I bet all that wood was stained originally that place must have been awsome in its day
Glad you enjoyed!! Thank ya very much for watching!! :)
Thanx Kappy 4 another great vid! That house is awesome and I love the sinks in the rooms. Stay safe out there.
Another great house. Thank you for sharing, Kappy. 😎👍
Ohhh I’ve been dying to see inside this one. I heard it was a very old boarding house. Thanks for the peek inside.
What a great house! That could be restored!
No graffiti paint colours perfect.
Thx 4 sharing this old beauty.
Good to see u again.
She is still standing proudly.

Carry on
Beautiful house, and good job making this video.
Much appreciated! Thank you for watching!! :)
Really interesting, only two bedrooms and no open staircase. Strange, but beautiful house!

A-maze-ing, spacious home. Beautiful features. I hope someone rescues it. Thank you, Kappy. You find the best ones!😊
Thank you!! Glad you enjoy! Much appreciated for watching!! :)
