I was just thinking of what a shame it is that it will be bull-dozed. I love old wood furniture. I have a bedroom set from one grandmother. She gave it to us as a wedding gift. It took months to get the old paint stripped off. Underneath was the most beautiful hand carved oak. I also have a wash stand that was thrown away from my great-grandmother's house after she died. Her heirs didn't think it was worth anything. It is precious to me!

Not only is Kappy a class act, he has a big heart, promising to relocate that poor bird stuck in the house. As for the house, i just love that blue and pink bathroom! 🛁🚿🚽

      🩵. Yes! 🐦
      Opening all windows,
      and every door,
will assist the distressed cutie. 🕊
She's too stressed to get herself out.
I would've stayed there, all day, until she's free. 💙

What a shame that a highway has no where else to be than across this house. The outside is really attractive, the inside needs a lot of help. But I can still see what a nice home it must have been. Glad that you documented it, Kappy. Thanks

I recently witnessed DOT take my neighbors home (3yrs old custom built). They paid him for 9 acres out of 38 and land-locked the rest. For a new highway loop to enter the new Toyota battery plant here. Alot of beautiful homes have been destroyed. I guess my acreage will be next😢

A beautiful house. It looks like it was last updated in the early 1980s. That duck wallpaper and Pfaltzgraff pieces scattered about were popular back then. The old TV, ironing board closet, and wood paneling are from the 1960s-'70s. I LOVE the big bedrooms, French doors, and upstairs porch. What a charming house for a newlywed couple to start their lives in. Tfs, Kappy! 😊

I think others have been through the house before and taken whatever may have been of value. I noticed a hole in the floor and staircase. Maybe done deliberately thinking there may have been hidden valuables. I don't know. Just guessing because in them days banks were far and few between. Shame to see a lovely house passed its best due to neglect. Previous owner may have been old and infirmed or lacking finances. Now all seems lost due to progress of a road. Sad.

This is a very solidly built house . Nothing built today would stand the test of time of this gem. It's too bad it's slated for demolition. BTW I think what you saw was an old Sears 1900 reproduction catalogue. What's fascinating about those is how cheap by todays standards thing were . Probably expensive back then though.

Nothing good comes from the yellow monster in the yard. I wish someone would go through and salvage the good furniture, doors and fixtures before this place is torn down. My house is a kit house built in the 60's, but nothing like this old place. Mine was just built with a bunch of leftover material, and no doors that fit. But it's mine and I'm lucky to have it. As always great video, Kappy - thank you!!!🏚🏚😼

What a lovely home! I loved not only the architecture style but the furniture was incredible - even the half/destroyed pieces. The ironing board storage in the hall was odd! Usually they are in the kitchen or pantry area. I lived in a house that had one - so handy!!! Thank you for going back and revisiting a home before it is torn down. All this destruction breaks my heart.

Love the porches on this one, I can see lots of happy family gatherings spilling out onto the porches and yard in the past. I like that it didn't get remodeled too much, but at the same time, she deserved better than the 70s remodel that they did with the fake wood paneling and orange shag carpet. Too bad it will soon be just a memory. Glad that you captured it before it's gone!

My dad “god rest his soul” covered bead board with paneling. And acoustic tile.About 90% of it except the kitchen pantry. I think he got tired of having to paint it.If it were mine, I would remove it all. And 30 years younger. My two siblings live there. Don’t think they have it in them to do it.

Thank you for sharing this old gem, Kappy. I'm wondering if the fireplace insert could be saved??? That old paneling was the real McCoy, since newer paneling is basically a picture on the surface... It's actually worth saving! The picture frame is definitely an antique... I'm wondering if there's a historical museum nearby that could accept a couple of items, especially that old picture... The basement was pretty rough, good thing you didn't linger there. As always, your work exploring and documenting these historic homes is most appreciated!

Oh, and for those folks who proudly don't do politics, here's another example of where 'politics does you'- eminent domain, cuz there simply is no better place to insert an onramp/offramp, per your county supervisors, but through your abode/space on this handsome lil' lot. Quiet Lessons to inquisitive minds. TY for the tour. charming but not opulent: Very cozy indeed.

Good evening, Kappy and all present! So glad that it's time for another interesting exploration of someone's past!
This house's architecture is quite interesting and could have been preserved, except for its proximity to the new road. Now, sadly, the land on which it sits is worth much more than the house itself.
It would seem that few people have explored this sweet little place. The green cabbage leaf bowl sitting on the table next to the TV hasn't moved at all!
Kappy, that bird is a Carolina wren who may have a nest full of babies somewhere in that house. It knows exactly how to get in and out of the house, as will its progeny. Wrens are nosy little songbirds who seek out empty buildings in which to safely nest and raise their young. They are easily identified by their short tails which tip up at an almost right angle to their stocky little rust-colored bodies. The best thing you can do for that bird is to leave it alone!
Oh, you didn't mention in your narrative description that the house was built as a wedding gift! That fact makes the house seem even more dear. I can almost imagine the happy couple walking through the rooms, being joyful in and proud of their little home.
That's odd, there are a lot more pieces of bric-a-brac on the mantel than when you were here last. Maybe it was staged by photographers.
You're absolutely right, Kappy, that is an ironing board closet. As a matter of fact, the narrow board used for sleeves is still in there!
This house has such a happy feeling about it, in spite of the junk and the damage it has suffered. It seems content in its memories, unafraid of the future. There was a lot of love in this home, love for each other and for God.
What a shame this once happy home with its basement filled with water has only weeks to live. It makes me sad to think of it. Nevertheless, it's going on my favorites list!
Thanks for a doubly interesting exploration, my friend. It was nice to see this house, both times!
    Love from Tennessee, Becca

Surprised that antique robbers haven't gone thru took everything. Wonder what happens to things people leave behind in these homes. Not any graffiti or stripped wood. Sad this sweet home gone to such waste. Great job Kappy enjoyed watching

@debkrummreich3883. This house has been remodelled and ransacked. I highly doubt that antique robbers would bother with this house. They might be able to salvage a few things but it looks like anything of any value. There are thousands of other safer, less destroyed abandoned houses to pilfer through.
