Visually Master Duel helps a lot and looks flashy, and on that side it is one of the best versions of the game at least to me, but I still hold on to the childhood dream of a world were duel disks actually worked the same way as the anime, holograms and all. Just not the "digital monsters exploding sends you flying into a wall" part.
Yeah I can see master duel be used to allow for bigger tournaments to be held without the need for as many judges. They would also be incentived to add more summoning animations so people can cheer when the boss monster comes out and wins the game. That or special attack animations or negate or skill uses that would make the base game better too
Yes, I do like how Master Duel has great benefits, like; 1. The time rules & possibillities, that get exploited IRL. 2. Spectator possibillities. 3. The cost to compete. No longer do you need a lot of money for cardboard, travelling, hotel costs etc. 4. Reading possibillities of the cards. 5. And so much more. If only Master Duel wouldn't purposly take years before implementing cards into the game.

Which will never happen unless it was a tier 1 deck
I've been a Yugioh anime fan for as long as I can remember, but never really got to playing the game due to how expensive it is. Master Duel basically allows you to play without spending a dime. I've been F2P since the end of last year, and so far, I've already built 6 decks that can compete with all the top meta decks. Hopefully, the game remains that way.
I was skeptical when MD released but man everything is just a blessing (minus the UR off rate we're getting). It's easier to follow, look slick as hell, gorgeous animation, amazing ost and as everyone already know THE SLAM.

Honestly, the only things it's missing at this point are a single player campaign of sorts (like how Duel Links has the anime worlds) and a more intuitive tutorial for modern play specifically. The tutorial is especially needed cause nowhere in the present Solo Mode are you really educated on things like hand traps, and advanced monster removal (like using a Kaiju or non-target effects to remove a Towers-like monster)
It should be noted that everything talked about in this video has been a staple of Duel Links for over 7 years. While many Master Duel players refuse to acknowledge this, the unique Speed Duel format is largely responsible for what they have today and Speed and Rush still currently compromise 2/3rds of the digital side of worlds.
I think the price thing is important because konomi makes a lot of money selling physical cards and removing that money factor could push it on to players with MD
Its a shame. Cuz in a different world, Konami makes the tcg cards financially accessible to many people instead of shortprinting secret rares for profit. This game could have been way bigger than it is
Funny thing is Master Duel is what got me back into Yugioh but the more I get into playing the game physically the less interested I become in Master Duel.
It’s a gacha game with card that hold no intrinsic value to the player. Means no value in the cards you collect. On top of that you can’t trade cards and the server can shut down if it isnt profitable.
True, its only a “future” if they have actual value tied to the useless konami id accounts we have, to have it actually be useful to use in a tournament or so
I dont know though if this is more a Yu-Gi-Oh problem or a Master Duel problem but if they want this to be more competive, maybe increase the timer a little. The amount of replays i seen where someone loses mid combo cause the timer ran out is insane.
To add a point, Master Duel is also better run. The TCG hasn’t been fun for a lot of people in a while now. The frustration is growing and the player base is shrinking. Existing players are fed up with Konami and it’s too complicated to bring in new players. Yugioh has: The Worst Prize Support by any major tcg, worst ban list updates/errata system, worst (and getting worse) short printing/pull rates, the biggest learning curve, highest average deck cost (besides commander) and lastly/most importantly they are less in tune with their player base than any other company running a popular TCG. The Yugioh TCG will fail. The ocg is run well and will live a long time, they print amazing cards in low rarity plus they listen to the community more, still not enough, but more. In the tcg though they use the ocg to see what’s strong and then later print it in the higher rarity for us to make more money off of us. I love this game and I will always support the content creators. But I am never buying a sealed yugioh product or anything that supports Konami directly again unless something big changes.
I'd love to play to compete and I'd want to do it with mannadium My life is suffering. Mannadium has roughly 25 required URs, and my pull luck has been horrendous and I need like 15-ish more. I've opened like 50-60 packs from the new mannadium pack, and I've gotten 3 relevant URs and like 5 irrelevant ones.
You didnt mention how Masterduel 1. doesnt have sidedecks (which is a good thing. Sidedecks are always loaded with uninteractive cards), 2. allows you to watch whoever you want at events (People dont care about some random guy. I wanna see players like Joshua Schmidt or Jesse Kotton. Also helps that i can therefore watch whatever deck i want to see. I am not forced to watch a snake-eyes mirror when there is an interesting match between 2 rogue decks on table 8) and 3. has a team system at worlds that creates a lot of deck-diversity (MD worlds would not have been nearly as fun to watch if everyone just played the tier0 decks of the formats. Josh would not have brought Naturia Runick if he was able to play tearlaments last year to give an example). I think all 3 of these are super important in making the world championship a fun event to watch.
Sidedecks add so much skill expression to the game man, they also avoid complete blowouts and punish decks that only function in best of 1 format, like you get blindsided by something like numeron in MD, it doesn't happen in TCG because you'll just side-deck hate for them in the next games
@@jaykebrwn You can prepare for decks like numeron in masterduel aswell and the deck wouldnt perform in masterduel events either. The sidedeck in modern yugioh does 1 thing more than anything else: Add a bunch of blowouts that win the game on the spot.
