@@TheFishLocker- John - I had to re-listen to your commentary while chuckling @ 08:50 when you said you were going to move, because "You were scratching around for a Wrasse," but in my mind, your comment sounded like you "were scratching your wrasse." Another master class in dogfish fishing. Thanks for sharing your techniques, for most people they'd have been a closely guarded secret! Enjoy your bass.
I'll second that, I'm 81 and I've lived by the sea all my life. Unfortunately I only get to the shore very occasionally, but you take me back frequently. God bless you. Hell, you nearly had me cooking!!!
John, been recovering from cancer and your Fish Locker has kept me sane as I'm unable to at the moment. Also do like the cooking episodes. Your friend/ chef/ cook is very good,it's about the food and not the cook,he could teach the big chef names a few lessons. Keep up the good work mate and once again thanks for retaining my sanity.

Nice to be on a trip with TFL at home from the sofa instead of a hospital bed, 3 weeks is too long in the hospital, but I'm home and I'm fine, thank you very much for teaching/entertaining me when the Sundays gets too long❤️🎣 And as usual Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰

What an amazing upload John, we always enjoy, we are so lucky to have you on these platforms! Thank you so much, what a beautiful part of the land Cornwall is for fishing etc. Until the next upload my friend, stay safe out there! Jc Oxford
This is real fishing, the smaller fish keep alive and when you catch a larger one, let the small one go for the survival of the species. This was a very relaxing video in great quality. Now I got hungry for fish while watching, luckily I have a jar of herring rolls here. These are rolled and fried herring fillets in a sweet and sour marinade with onions and mustard seeds. (similar to the marinade of gherkins) Warm greetings from Germany
I think my favorite parts of these videos, aside from enjoying John’s incredible skill and knowledge is seeing how rich the ocean around Cornwall is. It’s kinda amazing when you think about how many centuries this area has been fished, and how rich it remains. It really speaks to a lot of people working hard at sustainable practices. I’m also just wowed at the beautiful colors of some of these fish and crustaceans. Incredible. A real joy each Sunday
Monday a holiday here in the USA and I find your video’s to be like fishing myself. Not like so many that want to show their trophy’s you show normal fishing. Thanks!
John, I was given this tip to 'pasify' a fish, (not recomended for fish with viscious teeth) stick your thumb in it's mouth and hold it under it's chin with your fingers. It should be as docile as a child sucking a dummy or munching on a Greggs sausage roll! Try it let and let us know if it works.

John, have you ever cooked and eaten the Dogfish before? Some people refer to them as Rock Salmon. I remember a long ago my Mum prepared one that I got given to me from a trawler. It was surprisingly very good. Good video today and a nice variety of species.
To be honest it doesn't get much better than that does it. stay in touch the next time you're down my way and if I can spare the day we can look at getting afloat.
Really love watching your fishing trips. Brings back memories of fishing the Thames Estuary for codling back in the 80's and 90's. Am 79 now, and don't get to go sea fishing anymore. Barry in Essex.
Thanks for showing us a marvelous day at sea with actual fish being caught John 👍 54cm pollock is unheard of in my area, the biggest i caught is about 30cm. The population is reduced with about 90% over the last 25 years so whats left don't reach adult size before the seals take them. Question: Those spools you use for hook lengths etc. do you buy those? i looked for something like it in our shops, but nothing to be found. So i made them my self😁 Some +20mm high density foam, 60mm hole saw, 10mm round file, a bolt and some nuts and washers and using a power drill as a lathe, two knocked out in 6min. Don't do this indoors!

In the UK we have 'Roll-mops' which are pickled herring fillets. I'm pretty sure they aren't cooked at all though, I may be wrong.
That sounds like I’d be tasting it all day. 🤣
Roll mops originated in Germany so you are speaking of the same thing :) and they are absolutely gorgeous. Only downside their price is extortionate.
Those wrasse do have some beautiful colours about them. And, yes we could see how iridescent the blues on the tail were! 😊
