- Welcome back to Princeton Junction on 6/10/15. I am pleased to be able to offer you guys improved video from this location, using my iPhone 6 to record in 1080p & 60 FPS. Today, we catch plenty of Amtrak trains between the hours of 9:50 AM to 1:00 PM and 6:10 PM to 8:10 PM, most of them powered by ACS-64 locomotives, as well as the ACS-64 642 Veterans Unit Test Extra. Enjoy the 125 MPH action =)
More specific breakdown coming never... lol - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
I love those PRR catenary system. They honestly are an icon of the Northeast Corridor
Video quality is truly superb. You really feel as if you're standing there on the platform.
and this is recorded on an iphone 6
Awesome video!
I remember back in the mid 70's, this train station's platform was so small, trains had to stop, unload 2 cars, then move up, unload 2 more, until it was done. Back then, there was only Trenton & Princeton Jct stops, near here. Trains from NY were jammed. I remember trying to find my daddy in a HUGE sea of men in suits! LOL!
I never cared much about trains before, but it's because of videos like this that I'm getting to love them, as well as other modes of transportation (except cars). Thanks very much for the great action.
Please search 'ICE 300 kmh' and enjoy german trains :)
Check out the eurostar london paris faster than flying.
@@NoLimitMusicofficial TGV goes 320/200 though
@phillyslasher if you consider check in check out times at airports, then europian trains are fastr for short to medium distances
@phillyslasher It's anything, but victorian technology.
The Acela is capable of 180 MPH but is restricted to 150 MPH due to the track condition. BUT, it can only do 150MPH for a short distance between Boston and NY City. The rest of the time it's restricted to 125 MPH because of the track conditions.
I saw one of these when I was going to Connecticut to see my uncle. I saw it by NYC
Actually, maybe upstate
Not anymore
I just LOVE the Siemens Charger!
No the charger is a diesel
It is not diesel
You mean the Sprinters not Chargers.
The siemens charger is SC44
I’m not sure if the sc-44 is a diesel or electric.
Rip AEM-7, you will be missed😔
Yes😢😢
Excellent panning work! Didn't realize how much traffic this corridor hosts daily. I'd never get anything done if I lived near Princeton Junction- heehee! Awesome video!!!!
Rest.In.Peace Amtrak ACS-64 627 (2014-2016)
Im riding the NE Regional from DC to Boston for the first time this summer-so pumped!
This is one of my favorites. I like watching train videos and this one offers a lot of high speed trains. Nice job.
Great catches man!!!
Hermoso vídeo. Me da la impresión que estos trenes son muy pesados comparados con los de alta velocidad de Europa y Japón.
Gracias por compartir tu afición por los trenes.
EPIC quaility by the way some of the best I have seen in a trainspotting video makes me want one.
Trainguy1717 IRL haha thanks dude =)
0:10 thats the ACS-64 that crashed in April 2016
Are all those trains going at 125? Acela or not, they're all moving fast.
Through Princeton junction, the Acela can reach up to 135 mph on this section. That is subject to change since they recently upgraded the tension on the catenary, which will eventually allow for 160 mph top speeds. And other trains like regionals and keystones can reach 125 mph top speed through there
@@froztytrainfilms9148 Basically yeah, but they have yet to actually run the Acela in regular service at 160.
@@amjkodaz search up Acela 160 mph. It says Acela 165 mph. Click that and you’ll find proof that it goes 160.
Awesome , thanks for the vids !
Great video! Lots of trains!
Excellent video quality.
Excellent video the 60fps really looks great.
+European Rail HD thanks lol
+Fan Railer which station did you recorded
Those AEM 7's are beautiful
Gregory Salisbury sadly amtrak retired them. and they are no longer in use
Good video and good camera control!
60 fps is really weird for trainspotting videos. Awesome stuff
Nice to see some decent trains on US track. Good quality video. Greetings from Europe.
Many thanks. Salutations from the USA.
The northeast corridor is the best we got and it still needs a major overhaul.
Everyone seems to talk shit on diesel locomotives if you wanna talk pollution come at China thanks
This railway is very clean and tidy, no garbage
good to see those AEM-7s
Nice 642 capture!
When on earth are they going to replace those passenger cars lol
D3Andr3 I know right. I've been thinking the same things
The next decade they will or they will make Amfleet III's
When they hit a bump and the frame cracks/sags, thats when. The Amfleets will go until its not safe for them to do so any longer. The Amfleet is an A-plus railcar born out of an EMU I'd give a C-minus to.
They are awesome so shut up
What’s wrong with them?
Holy crap what a video!!
I sure wish we had Super Trains like this going from east to west.
What camera it that I want to get my brother one for crismas
I hope someone makes ho scale models of both the ACS veterans unit and the P42 veterans unit! That would be cool!
was the train hauled by the veterans unit track inspection service or a special imployment train
Nice catches. Is there a way you can track #642?
Man! I really hate it when those LED headlights flash on camera lenses!
To this day i still miss the toasters
In 2017 I saw a couple of Acela trains in Woodside NYC
What's up with people commenting that the Toasters were the first trains in America to achieve high-speed rail qualifications? The TurboTrain and the Metroliner multiple units also ran at the same ranges during tests back in the late 60s, just before the SJ Rc (the basis of the AEM-7) was even a thing.
The Turbotrain is still faster than the Acela while being 30 years older, but nobody talks about it, same with the Metroliner. It ran 164 mph.
Is Princeton junction where they test the Acela at speeds of 170mph
sw733iad1 should be. because it's the longest straight tracks straight as far as the eye can see!
Southwest Air Fan it was a recent test run when Acela did 187 and acs-64 did 134
Southwest Air Fanimations I live near hamilton station and can easily drive to PJ and i would love to catch one of those acela speed tests from there. They were also speed testing at hamilton and the next station north. But PJ is the biggest open station to watch it at
Most Awesome Vid!!!!!!!!
At rahway today, I saw 4 Genset switchers all in 1 light engine move. they were amtrak.
8:38 the two floor looks like the old Z20500 and VB2N french"RER" that we see in Paris (France?) and Grozny (Chechnya)👍☺
BuildIntoTrains commented: POG
Good video. The video quality is superb! Which camera do you use?
my iPhone lol
Why was the train like this? 6:06 with all cafe cars?
enjoyed
The trains don´t look particular aerodynamic for a 125 mph but it´s all about power I guess. The airpressure at the flat front must be quite extreme at that speed.
7:20 I saw that exact same train with the exact same coach layout on my B-Day at 12:06 pm
They dont Change the layout of the cars very often. Most of the time they only do it to do maintenance on 1 or more of the cars
Why do you cut out the njt trains
Man Train Simulator 2018 looks soooooo real!
What kind of camera are you using? The color and quality looks really good compared to mine.
iPhone 6 lol
Oh wow ok.
Wow, what did you use to record? Amazing quality!
iPhone 6
One smalle step for man; one giant leap for a few more people...
Did not hear any flat spots on the wheels ...excellent for passenger comfort.ops sounds a little sus at 3:53...?
USA - 125 mph is so fast | UK - 125 is cruising speed | Japan - 125 is so slow
If there's no in-cab signalling, 125 is the maximum limit for trains in the UK
My goodness the iPhone 6 has a really good camera
Estéticamente hablando, para mi son los más hermosos.
love it
Vets unit @ 6:10 for those looking
Zeffers716 whats a vets unit?
@@Wes8761 veterans unit 642
When you look a that right-of-way, 125MPH seems slow. It's straight, level, modern infrastructure. One has to wonder why the speed limit isn't higher/
amfleets can only go max 125MPH
It also has to do with the type catenary on the line The NEC between NY Penn and Washington is only 25HZ dating back to early 20th century, which limits train speeds, in contrast the newer 60hz system up on the North end of the NEC from Boston to Rhode Island the Acela goes 150MPH.
@@AtlanticRailYT yes they are! As a matter of fact, they just finished upgrading the catenary between Hamilton train station and Midway Interlocking. All brand new poles and constant tension catenary. Just in time for the Avelia Libertt
125 is very fast bruh. Try seeing it from the side view.. it’s very fast
Pop Smurf considering that European trains can go upwards of 200mph, it’s quite slow in comparison
USA: WOW 125 MPH HIGH SPEED TRAIN, SO FAST
Europe: Uh, this train is just driving 125 mph at the moment?
Man I don’t get why everyone gets butthurt at seeing American trains only going at 125 mph Acela can do 150mph now the new ones can do 185mph but you do have to realize STEAM engines used to use the northeast corridor so it’s very old with a lot of curves so there’s not too much speeding you can do and there’s not enough room to build more tracks since you are going through very very busy places of the US like major cities even the capital
how does it feel to have a bad freight system :)
those electric locomotive, when they reach the end of the line, they do drop and hoke and head back the otherway wile the diesel locomotive will take the passenger cars the rest of the way. they do relay swap with passenger cars.
アメリカの列車は早すぎです。
trains in america are crazy fast. unbelievable.
electric locomotives are so cool.
Kennie Qimooh only on the northeast corridor. Everywhere else they're pretty slow.
Yeah but see France and China and Japan's trains.
Never been in Europe I asume?
In almost all Western European countries 140+ kmh is the standard, some countries (F, D, UK) have IC services operated at 200kmh and dedicated HS Lines are operated with 300+ kmh
US trains are slow like snails, even our cargo trains run faster then a lot of US pax services.
Great video. I wish the ACS-64 was on the MTA.
Hamilton Express yes!
Seems possible when MTA operates between Penn Station and New Rochelle via Hell Gate Bridge. But it's unlikely that would happen.
I think it would look ugly asf
This may be a dumb question, but with the engine in the front of the train on the Siemens Charger, how would the train go in the opposite direction when it needs to?
The back of the train has a control room inside of the last cosch called the “cab car” the cab car is literally just like a locomotive interior but just inside of a coach, it is all powered by the front of the locomotive
But too, they just switch it to the back
I got to go inside that vets unit
do you upload your videos directly from your phone?
Not normally. I usually stitch the short clips together in Movie Maker before I upload.
Cool thanks. how do you save it when you're done in movie maker??
custom profile for 1080p 60fps, wmv format.
Cool thanks!
My phone barely does 1080pHD.
So your Telling me that an american train is faster than a swedish high speed train? I mean the first train
The heritage cars and Viewliner Is. I heard they can only go 110 mph. Is that true?
Yes
@@FanRailer Well then I guess I can kinda understand why they retired them on the NEC trains, but they could've at least kept them on the other long distance trains!
Also I really could've sworn I saw the viewliner 1s going 125 mph once or twice.
1:18 what was that for?
Never mess with fast Amtrak locomotives, imagine they would have a bullet train...
Would like to ride this train one day.
DTG got a whole bunch of speed limits wrong on both their northeast corridor routes, unless trains in the US are given a 5-mph leniency. Most notably, the train I was on this morning, train 54 (Vermonter), took the interlocking at Sunnyside at 40-45, whereas DTG's simulation restricts you to 20 mph.
Yea.... it's a pain.
+Fan Railer hahaha what do you tgink abt the dutch railways
2:37 Short regional or Keystone with no cab car?
That’s the Vermonter
I drove one of these in TSW at full throttle and I derailed at a station
Oof R.I.P AEM7
why would somebody dislikes trains
This state of Illinois?
***** no, new jersey
Pretty good....considering they're Amtraks....and electrically powered...unlike most Amtraks, otherwise.
Now if only we had these types of trains much more widespread thruout the U.S., operating at these speeds to be mostly on time (unlike many Amtraks), we might be able to say we have at least somewhat of a respectable high-speed train network. Yeh, if only.
8:35 I like that!!!
Great video but it would have been nice to see the ALP-46's you faded out.
There's a reason the title of this video does not include "NJ Transit" in it. The focus is Amtrak only; if you want to see ALP-46s, then I have plenty of videos that are labeled in a way that indicates that NJT is a focus in the video as well.
Nice to see the US RR uses European locomotives ....
Wrong, they're actually designed wherever the company is and then are built in the US
ASEA a Swedish company designed the locomotive and built the electrical components then EMD built it
These are built in USA
@@NortheastCorridorFilms Honda’s are built in the USA too, doesn’t make them American cars.
Amtrak alta velocidad
I see you got a couple toasters as well 😏
why are the acelas going at least 115
Amatthew rail Productions they go 135 at princeton junction
ive seen 642 at trenton
2:26 Windows!!
where is everybody----their not riding the train?
AEM-7 aka THE TOASTERS
When I Used To Go To New Jersey I've Never Seen Any Of These AEM-7AC Locomotives Like Bruh!!! I Don't Go To NJ Anymore My Father Passed Away 😭
What kind of fucking companion did I just read my guy the AEM-7 were retired in 2014-2015 and replace by the ACS-64
Whao
Had it on 2x by accident
4:36 2022 👀
Via rail in Canada still stuck in the last century with the highest speed of 100 mph😂
Victor Han lol rip Canada. Mexico just broke the world record with 75mph lmao
@@basictransportenthusiast4386 lol
The Acelas are the fastest things on rail in America right now, but that's still nothing compared to some of the European and Far East high-speed rail lines... Still, with the lines in the latter two regions of the world, these trains all run on dedicated tracks and overhead power distribution with no other type of train traffic, and absolutely no intersecting with roads whatsoever...
WHOA!
Did you hear that?! You didnt? Oh, it’s the sound of nobody in USA caring
Heyyyyyy, a video where british and french and chinese people aren't laughing about our trains, (in the comments)
The Brits aren't on the same league with the French and Chinese in terms of rail. If they'd laugh, it'd be a case of pot calling the kettle names.
I've seen americans "laugh" about them lol
@@ben.taylor lol
Best speed sensation...watch at the speed 2x hahahaha
It really satisfies me
Trains aren't too long...
I swear those silver star amfleet car’s windows are bigger than the NER amfleet windows
Edit: 7:25
You're right, the windows are bigger. They are of the Amfleet II generation, found on long-distance trains. The Amfleet II's are distinguishable (exterior) by their larger end door windows and car windows.
