Maverick says they can't get away from the 5th Gen fighters in the F-14... Actually, the Tomcat is faster then the 5th Gens and could easily pull away Look at Mav's old F-14A in the fake scene for the trailer and as seen at 5:52 - it only has Maverick on the side and not Merlin's
11:25 Jenny Bradshaw?? What happened there? The actress's name is Jennifer. Her character name in The Rocketeer was Jenny. And Bradshaw is the last name of Nick (aka, Goose) and his wife, Carole. The name you should have said was Penny Benjamin, not Jenny Bradshaw.
Does any one know what Maverick is whispering in Penny’s ears when he’s dressed in the formal navy whites before he deploys for the real mission ? Are they setting the scene for possible TopGun III ? Thank You
He’s just told her he’s flying the mission, right after telling her in the previous scene that he’ll never leave her again and her daughter warned him not to break her heart again. Now here he is telling her he’s off to most likely die and asking her blessing.
@@bigdawg7718 I mean in the sense of Pro USA .. most movie in recent years have steered away from patriotism . I'm glad to see it returned.. as an American I love this movie.
I didn't know that the callsigns were chosen by the cast. Though from what I understand about callsigns, (correct me if I'm wrong!) They're not chosen - they're gifted, usually after some sort of either embarrassing and/or juvenile event early in their career as an aviator.
Did you happen to see an aircraft carrier documentary (I forget which channel) with a pilot dubbed, "SLAG" after he qualified for carrier operations. It was from his reaction to his first shot off the carrier when he reportedly, "Screamed Like A Girl." Welcome to the Navy, Slag. LOL
@@billtisch3698 I did not. I did however see a documentary (on PBS) called "Carrier" and one guy got the name "FUNGUS" because he took so long to qualify on the F/A-18 that everyone started calling telling him "F*** U New Guy U Suck"
There were tons of technical and operational errors in the movie (most I noticed while watching, some when I thought of it afterwards) but still a fun movie. I mean, the original Top Gun saw AO guys loading inert missiles on Tomcats launching for a combat mission, so we expect to see similar obvious errors in Maverick. The only instances of this video I didn't notice was the Porsche continuity and the well hidden Aston Martin (but I was drooling over the P-51 Mustang anyway). As a pilot, air traffic controller, dispatcher--all by license and practice--I did enjoy the movie. It's really impossible to expect an aviation movie to be free of technical errors, so I wasn't looking for perfection. I mean, Memphis Belle is a great movie but it isn't at all like the crew's last mission and Apollo 13 is one of my favorites but Hanks mispronounces Fra Mauro every time, the crew didn't fight, and of course there's the misquoted "Houston, we've had a problem," although that was by design. Being an expert in a field like aviation just means you'll be picky whether or not you intend to, but it also means you can get even more excited about movies like this!
I believe it's a reference to Anton Chekhov's principle known as "Chekhov's Gun." It's a principle that says that anything mentioned in a story needs to be part of the story. The example was that if there's a rifle hanging on a wall in the first act then it better go off in the second or third act. The inference here is that since the F-14s were mentioned in Cyclone's first briefing to Maverick at the beginning of the movie then Maverick better damn well be flying one by the end of the movie.
TG: Maverick missed the boat when Maverick was showing that the mission can be successful by flying the chasms they should have used Highway to the Danger Zone.
Which means all the jesting about callsigns (Baby On Board) was just the actors giving each other a hard time over their callsign choices. Except Hangman being Bagman, which very much relates to his character's personality. So the actor either did a really thoughtful job of picking his name, or it was more of a group consensus. I wonder if it was the case that the actors collectively picked each other's callsigns? I think that's more how it works in the Navy, your classmates give you your callsign.
oh the DarkStar exists, it's called the Aurora - in fact, not only is it called the Aurora, it looks eerie similiar to the DarkStar and it too has a scramjet engine.
Sorry Screen Rant but Maverick did not do a "Star Wars" maneuver, He did the "Pugachev" or Cobra maneuver. Created by Victor Pugachev, a Russian in 1989.
Did you just say Jenny Bradshaw on Meg Ryan's line to Maverick. Sorry the characters name is Penny Benjamin. Timestamp 11:30 I know you are just reading what's in the script ala Ron Burgundy, but wow.
About the cheeky nod to "Labyrinth" in Topgun: Maverick. Labyrinth premiered about a month after the original Topgun. Also just want to say that if, at some point in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Ethan Hunt suddenly needs to fly a fighter jet, I wouldn't object. I'd laugh my head off, but I wouldn't object.
Sad that he misses that the opening script "isn't the same"....It adds to the line "men and women who have graduated are the best fighter pilots in the world"

Maverick says they can't get away from the 5th Gen fighters in the F-14... Actually, the Tomcat is faster then the 5th Gens and could easily pull away
Look at Mav's old F-14A in the fake scene for the trailer and as seen at 5:52 - it only has Maverick on the side and not Merlin's
Caught the Right Stuff Easter egg... He's the fastest man alive.
4:38 The name of the pilot from the Miracle on the Hudson was Sully.....Scully was in The X-Files.
I saw the original the other day with my family. It was great
It is truly a classic!
Is John Williams really a composer for Maverick? I see Hans Zimmer listed.
Giorgio Moroder wasn't involved this time
Maverick Doesn't "Hit the Brakes" He does a Cobra Maneuver (No Speed Brake used on the F-18).
Its calls air breaks
I literally watched this movie 8 times in theatre.
"Bob," no your call sign? Uh, Bob" LMAO
Why yes Tom, I AM available for Top Gun 3: Danger Zone!
brought down “scully” 😂
Just so much fun 🤩
Bob is Bill Pullman's son.
Where are the 'things I missed'?
The sequel could be the wingman to the orginal...anytime.
Sequel (Maverick) : BS ... you can be mine.
7:58 the actor is Croatian btw. We always play Russians 😅
What did John Williams do with Top Gun?
Thanks, Capt. Obvious. Down voting.
Was the house Penny lived at the same as Charlie's? It looked to be similar.. was going to compare the house number if you see it in original movie..
The Ninja comment is incorrect. The first GPZ900a to get the Ninja name was the 1984 model, which had cooling issues. Tom rode the 1985 model.
best movie🙌
I really love how American this movie is lol ..
What do you mean by “American?”
@@bigdawg7718 I mean in the sense of Pro USA .. most movie in recent years have steered away from patriotism . I'm glad to see it returned.. as an American I love this movie.
@@sgtcrash4775 me too!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸
We really do lol
He went ballistic with Penny Benjamin, not Jenny Bradshaw (11:31)
Tom Cruise looks still young in his age.
It's the hair dye.
I feel like he should just let himself go grey, canonical all the characters he plays 60 years old too 🤣
@@burner9481 I'd say it's the body! And the boyish smile!
I didn't know that the callsigns were chosen by the cast. Though from what I understand about callsigns, (correct me if I'm wrong!) They're not chosen - they're gifted, usually after some sort of either embarrassing and/or juvenile event early in their career as an aviator.
Yes, you are correct. A pilot's call sign is determined by that pilot's peers.
@@teapoweredyugi OUCH. lol. Hope he's married. He'll dread every time a hot chick asks him how he got that name!
Was it a Kenny Loggins bobblehead at the beginning?
What does "Anton would be proud" reference?
Anton Chekov? Is that the young guy from Star Trek who died a few years ago? Did he buy an F-14?
I believe it's a reference to Anton Chekhov's principle known as "Chekhov's Gun." It's a principle that says that anything mentioned in a story needs to be part of the story. The example was that if there's a rifle hanging on a wall in the first act then it better go off in the second or third act. The inference here is that since the F-14s were mentioned in Cyclone's first briefing to Maverick at the beginning of the movie then Maverick better damn well be flying one by the end of the movie.
It is PORSCH-E and not PORSCH. Enjoyed the video
Great video 🔥
Thanks for the support ❤️
@@ScreenRant Always 💪🔥❤️
The song's name is Danger Zone
Not Highway to the Danger Zone but whatever
TG: Maverick missed the boat when Maverick was showing that the mission can be successful by flying the chasms they should have used Highway to the Danger Zone.
I love bob so much more now that I know he chose it 😂
Which means all the jesting about callsigns (Baby On Board) was just the actors giving each other a hard time over their callsign choices.
Wasn't 'buzzing the tower' already done? The WWII movie?
Sorry Screen Rant but Maverick did not do a "Star Wars" maneuver, He did the "Pugachev" or Cobra maneuver. Created by Victor Pugachev, a Russian in 1989.
Used the trench to bypass the aaa...alarm.... then he bullseye wopbats....wombats..... :)
Penny Benjamin is who Mav went ballistic with, not Jenny Bradshaw. lol (That would be Gooses wife, at least Bradshaw. (who is Gooses wife)
Are these S-5s and S-18s, trying to find their way.
Anybody notice the 14 ball on the table during the game of 9 Ball?
Did you just say Jenny Bradshaw on Meg Ryan's line to Maverick. Sorry the characters name is Penny Benjamin. Timestamp 11:30 I know you are just reading what's in the script ala Ron Burgundy, but wow.
I couldn't help but notice the YAMAHA logo on Mavericks new bike. Hmmm?
About the cheeky nod to "Labyrinth" in Topgun: Maverick. Labyrinth premiered about a month after the original Topgun.
Also just want to say that if, at some point in the Mission: Impossible franchise, Ethan Hunt suddenly needs to fly a fighter jet, I wouldn't object. I'd laugh my head off, but I wouldn't object.
You know that Ethan feels the need...
It's never named what country we are fighting against.
Well only 1 country still operate F-14
Sad that he misses that the opening script "isn't the same"....It adds to the line "men and women who have graduated are the best fighter pilots in the world"
You could’ve at least had Ryan use his Pitch Meetings voice!
