I have never enjoyed a visit to the cinema as much as I did watching this film. I was so immersed and on the edge of my seat the whole time. I was emotional when I came out of that movie. It was everything that I wanted from going to the cinema to watch a movie, a proper cinematic experience! Thank you Tom Cruise.
Love the movie. I watched it at the drive-in , the f-14 tomcat theft and the reaction when they figure out who is in it . Is priceless!!
There is something about Tom's ability to look like he's enjoying every interview he ever does - he fully engages the hosts and genuinely just looks so amped to be there. He's a true master at his craft, if only we all took the same approach to life. He'll go down in history as one of the GOAT's.
This converation felt so plastic, and every interview of his feels that way. I think these is nothing behind those eyes.

I’ve got to say that Top Gun 2 was a top tier movie. I left the theater and could have went back in and watched it again.

Highly recommend going back to see it a 2nd time if you loved. The film is doing amazing in theaters, and there's only so many times you'll get to see it on a big screen along a bunch of other people watching it.
It’s amazing and sad how many remakes and reboots are out here that are money grabs. Then, Tom comes out with this. A movie that cares about plot, storylines, practical effects, and paying respect to the film that came before….rather than “subverting” expectations.
It will be so nice to see Marvel get spanked at the box office, ngl.
I agree with you, especially the subverting expectations. How many times have we seen a blockbuster show or movie ruined at the end (game of thrones for example) because they don't want to do the ending the whole show has been leading towards but instead want to shock the audiences and or change it to reflect some trending woke ideology of the day (Arya killing the Night King or Danerys burning Kings Landing and Jons storyline totally abandoned for feminism). Do the predictable ending, it's the right ending and what audiences want to see, or be creative with it and have some surprises but don't ruin the whole show because you think it's edgy to do some ending nobody figured out that makes no sense.
and before the movie starts there's a quick video of him thanking the audience for watching it in theaters. I know he's an actor and all that but combined with how much effort he put into his movies, the gratitude felt genuine.

Tom is one of if not the most dedicated working actor currently. I mean the man commits to the craft, does all his stunts, helps the cast and teaches them about what they’ll be doing especially with what he did for top gun 2 and teaching the cast on the flights and the workouts etc. the dude is almost 60 and has the energy as if he were back in the 80s. He never lost that desire to make movies like a lot of actors do when they reach a certain point in their life.

The best part about this great interview is when Tom says it’s great to see you in person and then whispers “and no mask”. Lol I love it. I remember his “melt down” audio over covid. He was just trying to keep his film rolling.
I saw the film last night. I can't stop thinking about it. It filled me with hope, joy and appreciation. Life affirming and brilliant.
Just watched the movie...and for a guy who grew up in the 80's and remembers Top Gun, it's so comforting watching actors of today mature and rekindle the romance after almost 40 years. Honestly, Tom deserves an oscar for his dedication to action movies....he really is the last action movie star still at the top of his game.
I loved it but I gotta say, it was a little overhyped. Maybe because I watched the original that morning before I watched the sequel, but there's just no comparison. Amazing flying sequences though.

@@sjeb1967 Nowhere near 90%. A huge amount of what you see is real. The main CGI are the missiles and bomb dropping, but all the actors are actually flying in the jets.

I love Ali's interviews. He always knows how to get people at ease and ask good questions, not those dumb "give me spoilers" questions the late night circuits all do. Ali is great.

I saw a late night showing in London. It really is a love letter to classic film and cinema. The music and soft melody leading to the Danger Zone song at the beginning will bring a tear to your eye. The movie has everything. A fantastic pace, great story telling and heals the pain from the first. Tom Cruise has defeated any concept that cinema is dead. This movie needs to be experienced in the theater.
Ali has never disappointed me in his interviews. The focus of his questions always enjoy themselves while getting to talk about what they love. And Tom... the twinkles in his eyes man. If I had 1/10 of the commitment and fortitude he demonstrates to his craft, I'd be accomplishing some serious feats in this world.
Agreed, i know some people just feel he sucks up to the celebs too much and is too gushing, but he still delivers the goods and more importantly, as a viewer you just feel so damn good after watching his interviews. Like i'm smiling I'm feeling really happy, the world needs more of those feelings!!
He does a great job. But don't forget it's the BBC. A 1 :1 with Cruise for 10+ minutes? That's the size, relevance and reach of the BBC. There many more journalists out there who could pull that off, but simply won't get the same opportunity. Which is understandable, there are only so many interviews a star can do. So of course studios and management will plan accordingly and give the biggest interviews to the biggest outlets.

My dad sat me down and made me watch Top Gun a few weeks ago, then we watched Top Gun: Maverick the next day. Ever since I’ve been obsessed! I really think this movie will change generations.
It’s not just that Tom is a fantastic actor; it’s that he’s a human being who’s truly living life to its limit. He has an insane work ethic and he doesn’t waste a second of his life dawdling around.
Many actors who’ve been in the business as long as he is has also gotten jaded from all the thousands of fan encounters, but even till today, Tom still makes an effort to spend time with and greet all his fans.

I personally find these anecdotes to be much believable than anonymous accounts from attention-seeking people. Tom actually being a pilot and him being so focused on authenticity is a big part of the film, the work they’ve done with serving pilots is why it’s exceeding everyone’s expectations.
To get planes to look close on camera means you have to be much closer than you ever would in reality. Yet it was done for real
The great thing about Maverick was that it took all the expectations in its stride and delivered. All the Goose aftermath was convincingly played out. Tomcat disciples like me got a "punch the air" moment. It came up with a convincing mission. It hit the target.

Two legends
one of the greatest action movies I've ever seen! The action scenes were absolutely stunning but there were also lots of emotional moments. One of the best Tom Cruise for sure!
I filmed a scene with Tom in Cocktail. During our dialogue we shared a fake bottle of Jack Daniel's which was pretty cool.(scene was edited from the film) I will say Tom Cruise was an ultra generous man and a world class human being. Each time I see him I think of the young 25 year old guys we were then. Fond memory indeed.
It is an occasion to an Oscar. It is not always about the actor roll as a "dramatic" actor but the art and dedication behind, of putting a master piece together. And I am sure he won't slap anyone in the face.

What's really beautiful about the character Maverick in TGM is how much of his trainer/mentor approach hangs on his loss of Goose. Not only does he overdo himself in trying to protect Rooster, but he insists that the training must cater to his teams survival. It is not enough to merely accomplish the core mission, but it's also important that his teammates make it back alive. Now, that's the kind of leadership that people will line up in droves behind.

The only thing I was hoping for was just the presence of "Viper" and "Stinger" at "Iceman's" funeral. Just seeing one shot of the both of them, retired and honoring "Ice" would have made me cream my jeans! Miles Teller's "Rooster" was made up to the point where in some shots, you really thought you were looking at his old man, "Goose." New and fresh with glimpses of the original was sublime. I'll be seeing this film again on the big screen.

@@arlenyholmquist3641 Soundtrack is amazing, they got Harold Faltermeyer to come back to compose it. He is helped by his good friend Hans Zimmer. With Lorne Balfe and Lady Gaga also helping. It is one banger of an OST. Fits every last scene to a T. And adds to the perfect cinematic experience that Maverick is.
Minority Report was the movie that made me fall in love with him as an actor. That's the Tom Cruise I grew up with. I haven't even seen the Mission Impossible movies yet but I see how hard he works as an actor and I love seeing him in films. Top Gun Maverick was a treat of a movie and I am glad I to have seen it in theaters, 'pandemic' be damned.

Although considering how potentially deadly it could be if literally anything goes wrong during filming, I am not sure how much scenes they could shoot in practical way outside the space station or spaceships. But I’m still curious to see what they could come up with in the end.

The fact that Tom owns and flys a P51 mustang is the coolest most legendary thing i have ever known. This is a man living his life to the fullest, huge respect!
So I have a partner at work who use to work on the base in Lemoore. He met cruise and Connelly. He said Tom Cruise was super nice, as was Connelly. And the part that surprised me... He said Tom Cruise flew to the base everyday in the P51. Then at the end of the day would fly out in the P51. Pretty awesome. 👍

My respect for him has skyrocketed after watching a lot of videos about him and the new movie in the past few days and of course watching the movie and enjoying it immensely. I thought that also, a very relaxed interview. No forced questions, no silly questions. Just couple guys chatting about memories from the Top Gun movie, it's influences on culture and looking forward to the new movie.
Tom Cruise is by far the most famous Hollywood actor out there but also appears to be the most humble. The guy just loves what he does.
The ultimate life goal...get paid to do what you love doing.
He's one of a kind. He said he was going to become the biggest actor in Hollywood and he did it. He was 20 years old demanding to be involved in all phases of production! He was born to do this.
This interviewer is one of the best I've ever seen. He is relatable, asks smart questions and is likable while gets the attention of the interviewy

Love that he still recalls making Legend with Ridley. So many actors can't remember half their films they've made and Legend was one of his first films he ever made.
Also, can I say how lowkey awesome it is that every time he talk it's like he's narrating his own biography.
This is Tom Cruise week, we got top gun Maverick coming right after Mission Impossible dead reckoning trailer. This interview took my breath away.

Really focused and uplifting interview with Tom Cruise. I was 19 when film Legend came out and I loved it. Tom just exudes professionalism and confidence. Just wonderful to listen to him. Accomplished so much. Superb actor and producer. My favourite movies are the Mission Impossible franchise
Tom is the Midas of the modern times...whatever touches turns to Gold...Super professional ...he created a whole filming making nomenclature that inspired and will continue to inspire next generation in Hollywood...

And just as you’ve accurately reflected on Hollywood’s gauge of ‘authenticity’ or lack thereof, I greatly appreciate your references to even the nuances that can be the distinguishing factors that separate & preclude such genuinely artistic talent to actors/actresses views & creations. Best Tom Cruise run is in Mission Impossible Fallout as he's chasing Henry Cavill, but this interview is amazing! This fella needs to do all interviews for any celebrity from here on out!

Born on the Fourth of July, Valkyrie, Legend, Risky Business, The Color of Money, Interview With The Vampire, Top Gun, Magnolia, Minority Report, Tropic Thunder, Far and Away, Eyes Wide Shut.....every one of those films he played a character unique to that film and far different than each other film in the list. Get a Clue. Have you even WATCHED any of those films?
@@philosopher0076 Don’t forget Days of Thunder, Cocktail, Jerry Maguire, and A Few Good Men! They don’t mention those a lot these days, but they were great movies, & Cocktail had a fantastic soundtrack! Not to mention the bartender stunts Tom did in Cocktail. Too cool, & so much fun! The others weren’t action films, but they were still fun movies to watch, & made us both laugh & cheer his characters on.

Just watched Maverick at IMAX. Wow. Just wow! When you go to see a Tom Cruise movie prepare to be entertained. You can’t help but love this guy. The movie takes you through so many emotions. Go see it!
I´m close to 50 now, I watched the first one (who hasn´t right?) and ofc I became a fan. I didn´t expect much from the sequel, but little did I know it would make me feel emotional 3 times, the last one in tears while walking away after the movie ended.. so yeah it was well worth it... For me it was almost a 4 hour commute back and forth to the theater, but it was worth it! Nostalgia was way high and so it was also a trip down memory lane!
May we all find the passion that drives us to reach the full capability of our potential like Tom has done and inspired for generations. Growing up on his movies gives me such an appreciation for his dedication to his craft. What an impressive human being.
Tom is such a genuine guy. Loved Top Gun Maverick. I wish my mum was here with me to watch it, she was a huge Top Gun Fan she even had the same jacket and aviators back in the 80s. Thankyou Tom for making this movie.
