Hey Noobert, I saw your video on Starfall Protocol a year back, just wanted to see if you've heard about the port to full 3d models and if so how do you feel about it? I understand the community is very concerned about the change and apparently there is a change to modding support too?
0:19 praise be to Oskar Potocki for the work he puts in to Vanilla Expanded. Every colony should have a special super soldier named Oskar. Homie is an absolute legend.
And no more than one Vanilla Expanded mod to avoid conflicts with itself. Other 500 mods will have workarounds for Vanilla Expanded, so no worries there.
There was a "feature" for Vanilla Expanded books (before the game had them) that scanned **every** single item on the entire map to find a book, if your pawn wanted to read one. It's a grievous example, but one of many. Vanilla Expanded is simply put, *poorly* optimized. I've been playing since A18. Even though it's not my primary content, my first video was on Rimworld. Avoid VE if you value your frames.
i mean, i created a demi-god named Commander Zero (thanks to a bunch of mods) and he goes from planet to planet on his Archotech ship, doing whatever the hell he wants (usually raising an army of Soldiers), and then leaving with his Archotech Formgel wife S.A.R.A fun fact with this guy, he actually came across a pawn named Oskar Potocki whilst fighting Pirates (well, not Commander Zero himself, but one of his Super Soldiers)
Im pretty sure that archotechs aren't necessarily subject to the laws of physics as we know it. They can draw power from seemingly nothing (ingame its the "fluctuations in the quantum foam of the universe," whatever that means) and psychic pawns canonically are only borrowing their power - they themselves are not teleporting anything, but whatever archotech they commune with; by extension the archotechs are able to influence creatures without touching them (blind pulse, nausea pulse, berserk, the harmony beacons that make people happy) and they're the ones who are able to seemingly break FTL travel when they open a hole to the sun or to transport pawns. Humans still haven't figured ANY of that out.
Notably, the exiled Archotech responsible for Anomaly (supposedly "Horax", but those cultists are nutcases) is in the void - which functionally exists as a complete parallel to "real" space in scale, making its potential reach anywhere in the universe.
@daemonflayer Good point. With the DLC for all we know there's beings 4th dimensional floating in a parallel space near our pawns trying to interact with them.
And one of thos ai gods ask: wait if psi have no limits of range ... Them what abaut use it to ftl... He he trap himself in psi realm called void Probady or he just emo and move to void in his will
The Skip psycasts could easily be sub-light speed "teleportation" and not be FTL. Teleporting a few yards looks instantaneous even if you're moving at 90% the speed of light. It does get a bit harder to handwave solar pinhole which does sound like it's creating a tiny portal though.
TBF, if we developed the ability to freely modify a living persons genetic code you better believe we'd have some cat/dog/fox people walking around within 1-2 years and Humans in rimworld have had that technology for thousands of years
hi i just want menchon as there is realy posible teory all psycasts are doing of Archotechts, just sord of asked bye psycaster to do it here. Aka faster then lilht travel is still not know to humans, but Archotechts maybe can do if they will want.
I never really thought about Horax being evil or not. As far as I understood it: Nanites gone wrong. Everything archotech does and can do, but just with the result you don't want. Not sure if it's evil cause it's self aware, has a corrupted set of commands, or just gets bad results on accidents. 2 + 2 = 4 Horax: "2+2=4,0001"
Larry Nivens Ringworld series has a cool weapon called a Variable Sword. It's basically a single-atom string of carbon projected from a handle and held in stasis. It can cut through literally anything like a hot knife.

I imagine that FTL via Psycaster is possible... but you have to be rich and lucky enough to acquire a powerful enough set of Psycasters, so most people don't and won't get to even imagine enjoying the benefits of traveling the universe instantly.
I don't worry about Horax because I didn't get Anomaly because I don't care for cosmic horror. We live in a universe where an asteroid or comet impact can destroy civilization, or even most life; or a gamma-ray burst evaporates the atmosphere away while sterilizing the entire planet; or we could be in a false energy state and all reality could implode at any minute. Why does anyone think a squid-faced bogeyman is any scarier than that? FFS a protein could fold wrong in your brain and end up killing you and maybe all of man kind. Anyway, cool video, Noobert. Keep up the good work.
Not to get into an argument but cosmic/eldritch horror isn't just scary squid monster the big themes is usually helplessness and futility, Humanity as a whole is just a ant colony that sometimes might get randomly struck by lightning and never being able to fully grasp or understand why said storms happen and even if they did there would be nothing they can do to prevent it

The base game is already really really good, then the DLC + mods makes for hundreds of hours of gameplay.
I've got 1,9K hours in it XD
Im assuming to teleport a ship large enough to hold people you'd need dozens of not hundreds maybe even thousands of psycasters to do so. Thus making it not a viable option
Is it possible for Cassandra and randy are example of arcotech? Since, they just play with the colonist in the rim by throwing a bunch of event at them, as if they have direct access to alter their story.
best colony game, i have xxxx hrs
Either randy is a fraction of horax.
Or randy in an alternate dimension is nicer

I’m thinking warhammer during the long night.
So my mods are lore friendly
