So many years of evolution inside the gaming industry and gaming overall - but the need to go fast and pulp everything in your way still remains. Almost brings a tear to my eyes :’)
I hope we see more Turok-likes like BITTER! I always felt like the format Turok had was underrated & wished more games adopted it’s style of mixing 90s Action-Adventure level design with FPS gameplay
@@MeatPie95 Not to get your hopes up *too* high or anything, but Stephen Kick (CEO of Nightdive Studios, who remastered the first two games) has said that he wants to finish the trilogy! I'm assuming that'll be their next big project once System Shock is finally out.
I contributed to the system shock remake Kickstarter. Its about friggin time they released it!! It's only about 5 years late or so now. I am also hoping Graven comes out of early access this year too.
Phantom Fury, Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, Compound Fracture, Sin & Kingpin the ones who got my attention. I love when retro / old FPS don't go to far with lights, my eyes get tired easily with them. Simple graphics, less artifices, perfect.
Great video, had a lot of these on the wishlist and in the library already, now added 3 more. Also nice to see the epic only and haven't been updated in a while info. Thanks.
Great to see the return of this old shit. Good games never die. This will find a new generation of players who will dig it as much as I did when I was young.
I keep waiting and hoping for *_Kingpin Reloaded..._* I've been gaming since the '80s. As much as I love all the classic fps and even newer retro IP like Hrot, Kingpin still remains my favorite. The neo-retro mafia fps concept, set in an Art Deco world, remains unique. People also forget it was the first fps to have companion AI that were actually good, and though definitely more fps than rpg, it had simple conversation and quest system for NPC interaction not unlike Deus Ex. There's any number of Doom clones, Quake clones and "tactical" shooters, but nothing I know of that fits the Kingpin subgenre in concept or execution.
Great video, even I someone who has more than 40 games wishlisted with 90% being these throwback shooters didn't know about some of these. Most hyped for: Ion Fury Aftershock DLC, Phantom Fury, Amid Evil Black Labyrinth and Slayers X Terminal Aftermath
Great games are coming indeed! Although I sense a lack of more grounded shooters similiar to Half-Life, Call of Juarez or BioShock. Someone should also make those too.
for those of you who haven't already played beyond sunsets demo, please do it. It is one of the most charming and exciting retro FPS I've played in a long time. I've been waiting for this thing for what feels like forever.
Insanely well researched and compiled list. Almost a year old and still relevant....there are many niche titles here too. In case you are watching this now dear viewer let me throw a few more titles for ya: The Last Exterminator, Arthurian Legends, Voltage High Society, They Came From Dimension X (haven't seen gameplay this unique since years).
I added three of these games to my Steam Wishlist (Amid Evil, Bood West, Compound Fracture) Compound Fracture looks amazing!! Reminds me of Dino Crisis, and I can't wait!
Compound Fracture and Ion Fury/Aftershock are easily my most anticipated. I'd say Selaco is but we all know that there's no way it's getting a full release, hell maybe not even an early access release, in the next four years.
Thanks for making this man! Didn't even know you had a youtube (we're friends on Steam), just happened to see this on my youtube homepage. So the algoritihim is working well thankfully ;P
Some of these are/will be absolute killers. Turbo overkill, expansion for Amid evil, Phantom fury, Incision, Brutal fate, Dread templar, Ultrakill, Hrot, Selaco and probably some more hidden gems.
Great video! another interesting new fps is Citadel 2, its a bit weird but takes a lot of inspiration from Marathon, its probably not releasing soon but looks great
@@AlbertoMonroy-lq2vw damn, that's a shame. I thought it was derivative, just another retro boomer shooter with a name trying to outdo ULTRAKILL in its ridiculousness, so Id hoped that it would become more than that
Finally another FPS game that isn't a war themed done to death!! But a DOOM like FPS in a refreshing way, bringing old school shooters in a modernized way without modifying the old elements just like what doom 2016 and doom eternal did reminds you the glory days of just shooting monster with sonic like speed while rocking off to hard metal as its soundtrack and oh yeah DEATHMATCH with real people, especially arena shooters that have maps that just screams deathmatch, man do I missed those glory days and it seems that this new old school shooters might be bringing back the experience of the glory days which I adore....
Witchfire switching to a roguelite instead of a classic fps was kind of a bummer but I'm still hyped. It would be interesting to see what seasoned FPS devs will do with rogue mechanics.
I'll second the vote for Kingpin. It's still one of my all-time favorite fps games. What kills me is the industry keeps releasing any number of Doom-like, Quake-like, CoD-like and "tactical" shooters... But I have yet to see anything else that fits the Kingpin "subgenre" of fps/rpg mafia shooter in a gritty, dark neo-retro world.
@@J.DeLaPoer yeah! So weird given the success of GTA (I know the vibe and style is different, but you’d think the industry would branch out more out of the GTA style).
Would a third person arena multiplayer shooter called Red Faction Guerrilla interest you? Using an interesting mod that adds more characters and custom maps. We play weekly
So many hyperfast "lasers vs demons" shooters... Damn, I would LOVE a retro themed stealth FPS! Like "No One Lives Forever 3", or "Deus Ex Invisible War 2"
exocide, bitter are the ones that stood out to me out of the ones i didn't know about, following those now! I know its a very debatable thing on whether its old school or not, but Trepang2 has also gotten me excited.
This must of taken alot of work, Thank you!
Some. ;)
I second this sentiment. Thanks for putting all these great BoomShoots in one compilation!!!
Must have*
So many years of evolution inside the gaming industry and gaming overall - but the need to go fast and pulp everything in your way still remains. Almost brings a tear to my eyes :’)
It's all good, but genre in a whole do not create anything new. Just marking time in a different visual styles
Old school is best school
Compound Fracture is more of a slow paced game.
I hope we see more Turok-likes like BITTER!
I always felt like the format Turok had was underrated & wished more games adopted it’s style of mixing 90s Action-Adventure level design with FPS gameplay
Dude that would be dope! and that Bitter game that was shown, did look like a Turok like game. And hopefully we get a new Turok game as well.
That would be big time! Luv Turok .

I gotta be honest... it didn't even register in my brain that it was a Turok clone game.
@@Chozo_Ghost So an HD remaster of 3 which was not as adventure like?
Really well done on this, the sheer volume of work shows the effort you put in.
55 games in this list, so amazing. This channel's content is as useful as that other channel called Zlim Bratski that I discovered recently.
Thanks for including Shoot to Kill, what a lineup!
I want so many of these to come out just on the merit of their soundtracks. Super looking forward to Selaco in particular though.

Brutal John! Oh yeah! 😎👍
I hadn't heard of some of these. Thanks!

Great video. We're living in a new golden age of old school shooters
Really helpful video! So much good stuff to look forward to
Omg. BIG THANK TO YOU! Retro & Oldschool First-Person Shooters is treasure in my life! 👍👍👍👍👍

Kingpin was cool. Is the remastered still in the works?
Fk yea totally 4got about that game !
Great video! Some titles are definitely very interesting! Thank you!
Subbed. This year has a lot of games to look forward to
Holy Hellfire we are about to enter a golden age of boomer shooters and I'm all here for it! Let's go!
Thanx for the video!
Added about 90% of these to my wishlist, thanks!
Salaco is my most anticipated indie game of this year by a large margin
Awesome list! Well done!

Bood west lmao
Alot of these look reaaaally good, thank you for making this. Definitely gonna be putting these on my list.
Thank you for this list, found a lot of new ones i didn't know in here!
Thank you for this upload. I add like eight more games to my wishlist on steam :)
Super excited for Coven, played through the demo several times.
very well put together video, I didn't know about half of those
Compound Fracture and Ion Fury/Aftershock are easily my most anticipated. I'd say Selaco is but we all know that there's no way it's getting a full release, hell maybe not even an early access release, in the next four years.
Compound Fracture and Ultraviolent for me.
I agree with your list.

Haha! Hi there! 😄
1:56 OMG Agent64! :D yeah, i saw the gameplay....and i played the demo... WORTH IT.
Its lovely to see the some people still care about old school shooters👍👍👍
Thankyou so much. Added all of them 👍
I love that your icon is CALEB!
11:29 Very strong 'Eye of the beholder' vibes. That's taking me back, looks awesome.
Check out id software's Catacomb-3D (there's a source port now.)
Thank you for featuring my game :)
Thanks for this update bro! Great work, keep it up!
Fantastic compilation. Had no clue about many of these games but i am not excited about several of them. Thank you for sharing.
Supplice is one I am particularly excited for alongside aeon of ruin.
Witchfire - I've been waiting for this game for a long time
yt algorithm has blessed me with a hidden treasure trove
God, I want Witchfire to release so bad! I love the aesthetic of the world.
Thanks man! All of these looks amazing you got some fine-ass taste
I really hope the System Shock remake supports VR
This is gravestone of FPS
COMPOUND FRACTURE LOOKS AMAZING
Great list! Also could consider adding Disdain in the list as well
Love the Evil Dead reference.
Civvie's BoomShootToob will never rest
This is the most robust list of retro FPS I've ever seen! +subbed and +liked ❤
Some of these are/will be absolute killers. Turbo overkill, expansion for Amid evil, Phantom fury, Incision, Brutal fate, Dread templar, Ultrakill, Hrot, Selaco and probably some more hidden gems.
Everyone should try the fortunes run demo, its sick!
My wishlist has increased by 4000%
Great video!
another interesting new fps is Citadel 2, its a bit weird but takes a lot of inspiration from Marathon, its probably not releasing soon but looks great
Never heard of it. Is it a sequel to "The Citadel"?
I'm glad that Turbo Overkill is taking off as its own thing, I remember playing a demo on steam and it felt sort of generic back then
It still feels very repetitive. Once the feel of the chainsaw slide wears down every level and music feel the same.
@@AlbertoMonroy-lq2vw damn, that's a shame. I thought it was derivative, just another retro boomer shooter with a name trying to outdo ULTRAKILL in its ridiculousness, so Id hoped that it would become more than that
Gonna have to learn Blender and make 3d weapons for these gzdoom games so I can play them in vr.
Fkin awesome.
You forgot mine :( Pitch Silent on steam!

best compilation ever, thanks
6:40 when your gun is your hand and your other hand doesnt know what to do
Awesome video. Good picks, gets right to the point, no bullshit, no fucking around.
Coven’s premise is awesome
The small clip of Only Lead Can Stop Them is all i need to see, christ that was a frustrating just to look at.
Turbo Overkill is so fucking good! I've also been playing Anomalous, great shooter as well.
Ultrakill, System Shock, Witchfire, Fortune Run and Sprawl are in my sight
Kingpin ... omg, so much memories...
Civvie11 has alot of work to do
Being over weight?
Thank You, because now I can fill my wish list.
Compound Fracture still looks so good
geil geil geil :D
This man is doing gods work
Witchfire switching to a roguelite instead of a classic fps was kind of a bummer but I'm still hyped. It would be interesting to see what seasoned FPS devs will do with rogue mechanics.
Really hope the remaster of Kingpin, Life of Crime ends up being released :)
Also Compound Fracture looks really good!

Graven is also supposedly coming out this year, my good man.
The best imo:
Wrath
System Shock
Phantom Fury
Selaco
Compound Fracture
Phantom Fury looks so nice.
Literally better than 90% of the current games in the market.
Add Coumpound Fracture Oh its already there amazing compilation I must say.
Very nice video!
Great list
What music is playing in Beyond Sunset and Diluvian Ultra?
Excellent vid, as an avid FPS fan thanks :p
Is Brutal John a sequel to Brutal Fate?
Would a third person arena multiplayer shooter called Red Faction Guerrilla interest you? Using an interesting mod that adds more characters and custom maps. We play weekly
So many good games will come in 2023😊
The older I get and the more time goes by the more I find myself playing these
So many hyperfast "lasers vs demons" shooters... Damn, I would LOVE a retro themed stealth FPS! Like "No One Lives Forever 3", or "Deus Ex Invisible War 2"
Also I would love to play "Magic Carpet remake". Why everyone forgot about that game???
I like how any and all DOOM clones have either metal, hard rock, or 80s techno soundtracks
nice compilation
many of those games were cool, but compound fracture gave off such an atmosphere holy shit.
exocide, bitter are the ones that stood out to me out of the ones i didn't know about, following those now!
I know its a very debatable thing on whether its old school or not, but Trepang2 has also gotten me excited.
Some really good ones on here but Blood West is one of my favorite
I hope the new Rise of the Triad will come out soon. I love that game
