Thank you so much for your honest review and sharing the issue with latency lag with the retro shooter. Other TH-camrs only talk about the positives and never talk about the issues
I just watched the first part of the video since I missed it in the live stream. Just as an FYI, the extension hub that you opted to get at checkout is intended for using the guns on PC or the other compatible Pandora box consoles (10th edition and family console) that don't have all the correct connections. I don't see anywhere on their website where it is intended to be used with the console being used here in the video. However the retro shooter console does have an extra USB port that's not labeled so that would be something to test and report back on If it actually works.
Another awesome detailed review. Yes, they sound loud like in the old movies. The light gun looks great which I would use for PC games with the adapter. This light gun is great for players who just want something fun, simple and don't care about high quality like the Sinden light gun which are pricey. Like you said, the console sucks. By the way, I love T2 and Time Crisis gameplay. Try this light gun with without the Pandora and let us now. Love your content brother.
Agree completely. They're great for games like Operation Wolf, T2 etc where you don't need pinpoint accuracy and you're spraying the field most of the time. I think for the price point and what they provide they're good. Perhaps the new 4 sensor setup may improve them somewhat as well.
I’ve had this retro shooters box for three months now and it’s fantastic, I have it hooked up on a 42” Samsung lcd and it’s more fun than the big buck hunter arcade 1up cabinet for a third of the price. From main menu, hold the guns left side button, trigger side, to bring up the menu to select gun games list. It’s easily calibrated by unplugging and replugging the usb and the menu options (hold both left side gun buttons in game) has a option to put the crosshairs on all gun games, great for duck hunt! It’s only 90 games, no big buck hunter, Nintendo wii still has my favourite big buck hunter.
Easily the best reviewer on light guns I’ve seen; thank you for giving me the confidence to finally pull the trigger on these! Ready to re-live Time Crisis memories :)
Thanks for sharing! It's a bummer that Pandora box still sucks! As a Retro Engineer I am 100% sure you could come up with a better platform for the light guns!
I don't even mind the extra sensors. Can't wait for the comparison video! Just built my first Batocera set up to enjoy some classic gaming with my brother. Would love to invest in some light guns for gamelan, iff it will be an acceptable experience.
honestly try it. For duck hunt and clay pigeon it can be rough for sure. For other games where you're just spraying bullets around, it's fine and gives you 95% of that nostalgia back for a relatively cheaper price.
you just need a basic usb-c to usb-c cord to connect the top sensors to the bottom one if for some reason you didnt have enough. I have a 75'' and ran the main usb to the top sensor and the connector from top to bottom with plenty of room.
I'm very much looking forward to the second generation of these, maybe with PS3/Xbox light gun games! As for what it is, these are okay when you consider the cost of original console discs/cartridges, plus the x4 camera upgrades.
This retro shooter system has been through many revisions already w the box the guns and there is now another version floating around on ali express with a solid black box
Excellent coverage of the Retro Shooter Pandora's Box Light Guns. I know this video is older, but how can we add the newer games (Mad Dog, Revolution X, etc)? I updated my Box, but they're not there. I bought the set-up just before they updated the gun muzzles & added the 2 extra sensors. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!
Got mine this week….how exactly did you hook up the sensors using the provided usb c hookups? Did you daisy chain the bottom 2 from the top two? There are 2 usb C connections per sensor….but the directions do NOT say how!
Also, did you ensure game mode was on when you played? Normally my game mode comes on automatically with gaming consoles but noticed it doesn't with the pandora box. When it's on, it is much better but that lag also will vary from tv to tv since not all tvs are created equally with the lag time. Area 51 works great on my set up. The lag you're talking about really sounds like it's the game mode not being enabled. The box is slow but I'm not getting it as slow as you say you're experiencing. I bought the thing to hook up to the pc and plan to try it that way as well.
Hey buddy, did you made the review video of this light gun vs sinden? I did not found in your channel. I saw the retro shooter on a PC video but I am still in doubt what is your recomendation for light guns. I am from Brazil and it is not easy to get those here. So I want to buy the best bang for the buck. Thanks in advance!
Would you bother modifying a T2 arcade 1 up with one of these? I’m so bored with this thing, either going to cut my losses or mod it and seems like this is the only option but if there is lag that’s gonna drive me nuts
Just got mine a week ago. Ok the pandora box is slow, but it's not a "1 second" lag, maybe a 50-100ms. For some games it's playable, like the old one (Jurassic parc, terminator) even Confidential Mission isn't that bad since the game has a pretty slow gameplay. But just like you, I'll connect my pc to it once I have sometime. For the price, 2 gun with ffb and 2 pedals, even if you put the pandorabox in the trash, it's still way cheaper than 2 gun4ir lightguns!
I do agree. Yeah second may actually be accurate for time crisis (ps1 versions). Those were brutal. But you are right the others aren't 1 second. Jurassic park and t2 def aren't bad but those aren't true light gun games they're rail shooters so that definitely helps.
Now I just need to open "the beast" and see if there's anyway of reducing the sound of the ffb inside of it. I like the feeling but with machinegun game... man that thing is noisy!@@OfficialChaseBrogan
It makes me sad that with all these newer light gun alternatives that it’s never 1:1 movement like CRT. My dream is to have a light gun that actually can be a 1:1 movement like crt.
Need to see them on a pc with teknoparrot or batocera. I got a set a few months ago just lazy to try them thay way yet. The cables are kind of a mess so trying to find what tv to set these up on so the wife doesnt kill me. Even though i got mine months ago i think i have the updated ones mine have were the muzzle connects without that little wire and had the fish eyes with them as well.
not perfect but fun. I have had mine for a month. recoil is loud so sometime I unplug it. You can use USB extensions to use guns farther away and if you buy the hub, it can be used to remotely power the recoil if you are using extensions. my kids and I love it.
Needs a better SOC that can handle 3D, since Dreamcast is not smooth at all. Current Pandora SOC is too weak for 3D assets. The extra resources would also help the tracking assets to make less laggy. Added: Apparently the Retro Shooter folks are looking into this now.
How is it complaining? They are using the same old a$$ SOC, rather than a better neutral cost option. The lag is truly awful. Seems they should just sell the gun kits or put a better SOC in the box.
In the a video he says he is going to try it on a PC. I look forward to hearing what he thinks it’s like compared to on the Pandora. I have mine set up with a Pandora 10th and so far have found most the games great. Some do have some lag and point blank is very hard in the faster more accuracy type levels.
These guns when Pairs to Kris cool Mods Beast or now even his 2tb Light Drive is amazing. It was Funny becuase the games played so badly i actually put this in my Sons room. they are 9 & 7. they said dad these games suck can we go play the gun games in your room. aka Kriss cool mods gun drive. lol
Can you please rate, if you have tested: AimTrack, Sinden, Gun4ir, Retro Shooter, and for reference a Wiimote, in: Precision (how precise is from 0 to 100): Setup (how easy to setup is from 0 to 100): Compatibility (how compatible is from 0 to 100): Looks (how cool/realistic it looks from 0 to 100): Price/Benefit (for the cost, from 0 to 100): Thanks a lot!
Thinking about getting it. I have an older 1080p flat screen with larger bezels that can be dedicated. Should I put the sensors aligned with the screen or the bezel
Aaaand Retro Shooter can no longer sell the Pandora box as it is loaded with games... I tried to purchase. I just bought the gun, fantastic using a PC, but wanted the convenience of portability with the box. They emailed me two days ago to say they can no longer send to me as it is loaded with games. I asked if they can send me the box minus the games for cheaper and I'll add my own, I await a reply...
Guns are good, the Pandora's Box is not. It may be possible to extract the games from the micro SD card they add into the box, but that's all that it's worth. If it's known anywhere better to get the lightgun games one needs, it's better to avoid Pandora's Box altogether.
I can tell the light gun does not function "on the fly" its not super responsive, even tho we are in 2024 i dont believe we will be able to achieve a super responsive hardware to function the way these games and light guns because that technology was created for tube televisions.
Dude you don't have to shoot out of the screen to reload. Just cover the front of the gun with your left hand like a pro. When they saw me do it eveyone started copying me plus it looks cool!
I enable that purely so viewers can see where I'm aiming in the video. Without that you wouldn't know if I'm aiming 2ft left of something. I could be and it could be hitting targets if the calibration is off. Only I would know. This is a way for everyone to see everything better in a transparent way.
Agreed but I show the crosshairs so people viewing can see the lag that I'm trying to show. Without them you wouldn't be able to actually see the on screen tracking. One could say maybe I'm just slow with my reaction time. For reviewing purposes they serve a purpose but for regular gameplay I couldn't agree more. The games that show crosshairs typically aren't true light fun games revolution x, t2, etc. Great games but not true light gun games.
Avoid this like the plague. The system is horribly underpowered and so laggy it's impossible to play anything but the simplest game. The company's customer service is awful and the guns aren't accurate at all. You'll be really disappointed.

I wish this let you add your own roms. My big want is to revist Safari Hunt.
But at least ver. 1 of this didnt allow updating roms
Yeah we totally need to see a comparison between gun setups. I thought the plugs might not be universal
The connections are usb but for the recoil you need to add another cable into the mix
Great review and resolution looks great for a 75 inch tv! Did you set the resolution to 1920X1080P?
Got mine this week….how exactly did you hook up the sensors using the provided usb c hookups? Did you daisy chain the bottom 2 from the top two? There are 2 usb C connections per sensor….but the directions do NOT say how!
I wish we could buy all the item a la cart from the site. Like a single gun, the usb port add on, the sensors, all separately.
Wish it had virtual cop or a way to add it to the pandora
Also, did you ensure game mode was on when you played? Normally my game mode comes on automatically with gaming consoles but noticed it doesn't with the pandora box. When it's on, it is much better but that lag also will vary from tv to tv since not all tvs are created equally with the lag time.

i really like the design of the guns. i think i might need to get a light gun kit
Can you disable the crosshairs? Otherwise it feels like you are playing with a mouse
yes you can
It's unfortunate that the comments from the live chat don't get transferred here to the comments section. Some good points were covered there.
I think you can click a button to have them pop up it may take a day tho from when the video premieres but yeah they do remain in a different section
@@OfficialChaseBrogan Good to know. I'll have to check that out. Thanks.

Subbed for the side by side coming soon. Get the PC adapter they offer and see how it works on a gaming rig.
