    Thanks for this go through step-by-step video. I have problems understanding point back. I have different 24v model but more or less uses the same info. I understand that a 24v lithium battery has to reach a point when it must switch to utility. But have no idea what that is. In my manual it says "low cut off battery voltage" but I think this is not related to SBU but rather the lowest voltage that the battery can drop before damaging the battery. (I could be wrong) In my manual it also references to "Setting voltage point back to utility when selecting SBU. I think this is your device's option 12 starting @ 9:04 timeframe on the video, then you go onto 13 setting the point back to the battery when the battery has been recharged to this point.
    So I believe what you are saying is that there is a point that the battery stops powering the loads (because the voltage has dropped too far) so the unit switch from battery to utility. Then when the batteries have recharged to a cert point, the utility switches back to using battery.

      My guess is you are way over voltage running those in series, you will be lucky if you did not cook the unit. Im guessing depending on your version you can only run 3 panels in series in two sets and then paralell for 6 panels my 3000 growatt has a 145 max volt pv input, the newer version can take 250v so maybe 4 of yours in series and two sets of those in paralell

    My shore power is just a 15amp extension cord, so I'm assuming that my setting 11 should also be 15amps. Is that correct?

    • @thinkfreelivefree6951
      @thinkfreelivefree6951  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, that is correct. You could play with it a bit if you wanted to. You could set it at like 18 amps and see if your wires get warm, if not you should be fine. But its probably safer at 15 amps. I have ran my 15 amp at 20 amps with no issues. Thank you for watching and for your support. Please consider subscribing if you found the content useful. when the batteries are topped off does the excess power go right to your home grid to reduce how much you are getting from the Utility grid?? I have 2 systems, 1 is a 12v battery off grid system powering my gym, light, heat, outlets. 710AH battery bank with 1kw of panels. I use a SkyMax 440 Charge Controller for Wind, Solar, and Hydro on this, so I can change the batteries to 12v/24v/48v. Then I have a 2kw gridtie inverter system going into my home. I would like to combine all the panels going to the batteries but still have the extra going into the house to drop the amount I use from the utility.

      Hi Tony. Thank you for watching and for your support. That is a good question. • @thinkfreelivefree6951
      @thinkfreelivefree6951  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Thank you for watching and for your support. Depending on your battery chemistry the low voltage cutoff needs to be set at the correct level for your battery chemistry, if it goes too low your inverter may have trouble starting up because it does not have enough power to turn the inverter back on if that makes sense. I hope that helps. Please consider subscribing if you found the content useful. Thank you. Let me know if that works for you setting the low cutoff higher.

I have a 3500 predator generator that charges the batterys, I have three 185 watt panels but even here in Hawaii i only see 250 watts at peak times but its cloudy where i live and my panels aren't great. My problem is that the generator has never been able to charge the batteries past 26.5v even though everything is set to charge up to 28.2. and 100amp bms. Hi A&WFarms. Aloha, I lived in Honolulu for 10 years. Miss the islands. I have had similar issues as yours. Check your battery when its charging during the day, you should see it go above 26.5 volts. At night when there is no charge it will rest at 26.5 as the cells rest at its nominal state of about 3.3 volts per cell. Let me know if you are getting a charge above 26.5 volts. Ok. You have to do some math. First thing is to know the max charge/discharge amperage of your batteries. 2nd thing is if you are running them in parallel you add up your amperages. I assume you are since you are running a 3000 watt 24vdc Growatt. 3rd thing to know is the max charge in amps,

    how does the growatt need to be grounded to the chassis? Is it sufficient to ground a DC negative bus bar where the growatt is connected to, or do I need to ground/bond the AC as well?

Sorry its a bit confusing and seems that many people are saying different things, but if you are grounded to your batteries, your main power source to ground you should be good and connected to the busbar which everything else feeds from. Hi Leonardo, technically you can, but its recommended to top balance your cells first. You can use an extension cord and cut off the output end and leave the input end so you can plug it into an outlet and connect your 3 wires to the input side of the growatt. You can also adjust the max amps allowed for charging. I have a video on top balancing before you use the growatt to charge your batteries. Thank you for watching and for your support. Hello, I have a Growatt Off Grid Solar Inverter SPF 3000TL LVM 24P receiving PV from 3 panels 440w each, in series, able to charge my LiFePo4 battery (a custom built 4000w without BMS communication supplied by a local solar company) and power the loads in my trailer. The main appliance is a 548 kWh/year refrigerator, and there's a little reducer running at all times converting 120v into 12v for the lights (LED) and carbon monoxide detector. My challenge is the battery keeps dying overnight, and then I'm unable to power up the Growatt in the morning (even if it's sunny). I have no connection to the grid, and no generator (yet). My efforts to configure the Growatt to prevent the battery from draining to zero haven't worked. Ideally the Growatt would shut off power to the trailer once it gets to the low voltage setpoint (24V), saving enough power in the battery for me to turn it on again once it's sunny. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

      07 auto restart over temp: enabled
      12 setting voltage point back to utility source when selecting sbu priority or solar first in program 1: 24v

      @@rykelo8 Hi Ryan. Thank you so much for watching and for your support. I would try a couple of things and monitor your solar input during the day. Try changing setting 1 to UTI and make sure setting 2 is set to the maximum charging amps your bms can handle. Also I would change the low dc cut off voltage to 22 volts since you have a lifepo4 battery. 22 volts is 2.75 volts per cell. It may help you get through the night. Can you tell me more about your battery? I hope this helps in some way. I am aware that you are not using utility power, but as a test I just want to see if your solar array performs better running your loads and charging the battery. Please consider subscribing if you found the content useful. I have also had some issues with my growatt reducing my solar in the afternoon when it should be charging my batteries full force. Let me know how some of these adjustments work out. I also have mine set on SNU for setting 14. You could also try using the USE setting in option 5 and setting your bulk and float to the same value.

      @@thinkfreelivefree6951 Subbed! Thanks for all the detailed info, I will be back up at my property in a couple weeks and will try your ideas then and get back to you. I'm in USE2 mode (lithium) and it seems like my Growatt allows only as much power from the panels as can be used by my loads and battery in real time. Unfortunately I don't know much more about my battery as a local solar business built it custom for me. There is no BMS connection to the Growatt, but there are these computer cards inside the container with the batteries that my guy says accomplish the same thing as a BMS.

      Hello love the info. I am having difficulty setting up my low voltage disconnect setting 21. I have USE for setting 5. And when I try to set #21 to 24v when I hit enter it goes back to default which is 21v. Any insight is deeply grateful. I'm going to subscribe right now. Love it thanks for all your help and insight.

      @@johnicaaracri5582 Hi. Thank you so much for watching and for your support. I have had similar issues. Try turning off your AC side and turning it back on and go back into setting 21, low dc voltage disconnect. It is suppose to be settable from 20v to 24v as the manual discloses if number 5 is set to USE. If it does not work. Contact Growatt. Hope this helps. Thanks

      @@ivanvera7027 Hi Ivan. I am sorry, but I am not aware that the Growatt has those settings for lead acid batteries. However, you could set your parameters for your low dc cut off and your bulk and float charge in settings 19, 20 and 21. I hope that helps. Sorry I could not be of more help.
