Your video is so timely, I drove a Tesla 3 for the 1st time last week as a rental. It was a mistake! I was in Calgary and going to Montana. There were barely any Tesla Superchargers including one that did NOT exist when I got to it. I had to go to the next one and had 5% battery left when I got there! Stress and anxiety through the roof!! But driving it is amazing (crazy acceleration)! Not sure I'd buy one though until chargers become more mainstream, especially because of the winter, as you mentioned!

Right now I'm debating between going full EV with a Tesla Model 3. I can pick one up, a 2022 with 40,000 km for $35,000.00.
Or go with a 2022 Toyota Prius Prime that would be about $31,000.00 with even lower mileage.
The insurance for me with the Tesla would be 2600 a year and the Prius 1750 a year.
My biggest issue is the battery depletion because I keep my cars for a long time and I put about 42-43000 km on the vehicle I want to make sure it lasts with minimal issues.
Toyota is well known for the reliability whereas Tesla because they are so new is not right now.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on owning your Tesla. Yes the winters in Canada reduce the range but it is manageable. I have a KIA EV6 and live in Eastern Canada and love it. At -25c I am getting 359km range and currently at 15c and with a 90% charge I get 450km. It is costing me approx. $30/month charging at home (.12/kwh rate in NB). It costs me $40 in gas to fill my Harley Davidson and that doesn't last a day of cruising. I love Tesla's but did decide on the EV6. Cheers and looking forward to watching more of your content.

I want to buy Tesla but I don’t know I can charge at home or not as I don’t. Own home rent so I think have to charge from outside so if I charge outside will it cost more ?

Yes, charging outside will cost you 3 to 4 times more than charging at your own home charger

Yes! Driving my Tesla is just SUPER fun. I had a Model 3 standard range plus, and now own the long-range. Loved them both!! The heated seats and heated steering wheel make the lower Canadian temps just fine, but it also helps to be able to plug it in at work and to have a heated garage ;) A Tesla only makes a bit more sense for someone who can charge it at home, but a plug-in hybrid is likely the best bet for most ppl most of the time. Definitely love my Tesla though!! It definitely is like driving a spaceship! I will say that I've always been against buying a new vehicle because of the instant depreciation, but the Tesla really have held their own and has been much appreciated! lol.

    • @begley09

Quite a bit cheaper most likely, it really depends on the vehicle because some classify Tesla as a luxury brand. So say you wanted to ensure an Infiniti you would probably be paying similar.

I've been wanting a Tesla for several years now but I tend to buy new cars and keep them for 10 to 12 years or more and my current car is just approaching this. I wonder what your experience has been with service at Tesla. A couple of months ago I went to the OttawaTesla showroom to get answers to a few questions and was underwhelmed by the reception I got. They did not know that, but I had resolved to order upon my return home. They seemed so uninterested in answering my questions that it gave me pause - not a good indication of future service. I am also hoping that the new LFP batteries will at least partially address the winter driving range reduction.
Thanks for the video, it's great to have honest local feedback.

@@GriffinMilks Thanks. It makes it a more difficult decision, but good to know At the very least I will have a closer look at the Ionic. The choice is rather limited as all other car manufacturers seem to be either reluctant to produce EVs or are incompetent (or both) at it!

2500 a year in ten years you are going to pay 30000, oh my that's a lot of money.
6000 plus 2500 that's 8500 plus charging and tires you are up to 10000 a year for a Tesla

I disagree about the designer Franz V.H. This guy used to design Mazdas his designs are mediocre at best and what most people tend to be trapped by is the badge the ora of Elon Musk that makes the brand more appealing, to the point where people are willing to bypass it's looks even if it's as atrocious as the Cybertruck, hence the amazing power of marketing but. If you look at the design at face value, under any other make, it's nothing special. The cars just don't look anywhere near as good as some of the European brands especially Italian or German cars while charging the same or more. They don't look better than Maserati, nor Jaguar, don't look better than Porsche or Landrover, hell they don't even look better than the new Mazdas! Have you seen the new Mazda roadster... kills the Tesla Roadster 2.

Before even watching the video I can tell you right off hand that the Tesla is definitely not worth it. You're concerned about gas cost or the environment than your best bet is to get a Honda or Toyota and run it into the ground.

    • @RealChange-eh1gw
      @RealChange-eh1gw ปีที่แล้ว +3

That is very well said. These cars are nowhere near the quality of Honda or Toyota. My opinion is don't waste your money unless you have 60,000 lying around somewhere. Looks like this guy has lots of money and business expenses to right off...!!

@@cia9419What do you mean that's what Tesla geared these cars for. The Tesla Model 3 is equivalent to a brand new Honda civic and it's supposed to be affordable. The problem I'm finding is these cars are not always reliable and if something does go wrong the repairs are very expensive.
