My pension was canceled by the Adern beaurocrates 3 years ago because i went to spain to support my Spanish wife caring for her parents.
I've had to sell my property in New Zealand to support myself and the kick in the guts was millions ofhard-earned taxpayers dollars was given to Hillary Clinton and the Taliban.
Where is the justice and humanity in this?

I can't stand the idea of any elderly struggling, lonely, cold and hungry. New Zealand has become a bitter and mean country.

The real issue with the retired vs working age people is that they are living on savings not wages. Savings are more likely to be affected by inflation compared to wages. Inflation eats away at the value of savings. There is at least an opportunity for wages to increase.

They say children should be seen and not heard, but the elderly now are not heard or seen; herded away out of view and with them wisdom for the young.

Why are there any rates increase? Property prices increase more than CPI and growth is covered by the extra homes.

Council wages... A alarming review a couple of yrs ago showed the biggest drain now on council monies is because of their wages . Wages have become so enormously high ( please do a program on this Michael) they take up the most of their income... I can't remember the percentage but it was horrified when it was revealed... Our councils now feel they are entitled to private business model wages.
Remember Michael when Auckland Water " CEO " was up for scrutiny when Auckand had that huge water shortage and had no proper plan for Auck drinking water etcs dams were going dry... AND PEOPLE WERE VERY ANGRY WITH THIS COUNCIL AREA ...AND IT WAS REVEALED THAT HE WAS ON ABOUT 700,000 A YEARS WAGES AND HAD HEAPS OF EXTRAS ALSO....AND THAT HE EARNED FAR FAR MORE THAN JACINDA OUR PM AT THE TIME .
Once ...wages were NOT THE MAIN COUNCIL OUT GOING FAR FROM IT...
Could you catch up on their outgoings now for us ...AS THEY ARE NOT A PRIVATE COMPANY AND MANY OF THEIR MANAGEMENT SHOULD NEVER BE EARNING MORE THAN OUR PM AND COUNTRIES LEADERS... NZDERS ARE BEING FLEECED BY THESE PARASITES....AS THE COUNCIL WAS A MODEST PART OF OUR SYSTEM THAT PROVIDED SERVICES TO THE PEOPLE....BUT ITS DONE A TOTAL ABOUT FACE AND HAS BECOME A LEECH ON COMMUNITIES FOR MANY WHOM WOULDNT SURVIVE IN PRIVATE BUSINESS MODELS BUT WANT THE SAME REWARDS AND STATIS OFF THE BACKS OF THE FAR MORE HARDWORKING TAXPAYERS OF NZ.. IN MY OPINION..
I WAS SHOCKED WHEN LEARNT THE HEAD OF WATER CARE IN AUCKLAND EARNED A FAR FAR BIGGER WAGE THAN OUR PM JACINDA AT THE TIME ...
THAT WAS DAY LIGHT TAX PAYERS ROBBERY ..HE RESIGNED IN THE END IF I REMEMBER AS HE HADNT DONE A DAM THING FOR AUCKLAND RATE PAYERS WATER NEEDS ...DIDNT HAVE ANY FORWARD PLANS AT ALL AT THE TIME !!!

I had three jobs at one time when I was first married. I now have the NZ Superannuation, but have a part time to make it possible to enjoy life, not just exist. If I was on super alone, it would not be possible to even have a holiday. I am lucky I am healthy enough be able to work, so a good point above!
