      I've had the 'pleasure' a letter claiming I'm listed as unlicensed which is odd because moths ago I CLEARLY called up their automatized system and answered I don't need a license.
      So, I have done it online. YET, very sneakily, they have a section where they're asking when you're IN? They have no intention of taking any notice of what people have said once or twice.
      There's real criminals committing god knows what YET they're pestering people who are being 100% honest?

      @ChilliJonCarne hi just a quickie for you, as a licenced radio amateur and I have been so for a number of years I am able to transmit slow scan and fast scan TV. Fast scan TV is pretty much like the TV you watch at home on your own TV. And so such if I am receiving a fast scan transmissions from another radio amateur. According to the wording that you have mentioned in your video technically I need a licence from the BBC to receive my own test transmissions and those from my fellow colleague and associate. Surely this has not really been thought out and should not include licenced radio amateurs home are likely to be transmitting and monitoring their own transmissions live. And receiving test transmissions from their colleagues and again this would be live transmissions.

      We don't have TV Licence in Australia but I'm same as you. My whole family doesn't watch TV & haven't for about 5 years. I don't have Netflix or any other streaming service except free TH-cam. If I find out about a good movie or series it's usually by word of mouth or internet. I have a few good, safe free websites that I can watch quality movies on if I want. Funny though coz we havec3 TV's, one that's never actually been used it's plugged in just sits there, 2 for xbox

For information: the need for a TV licence falls under Section 363 of the Communications Act 2003. The Minister under that Act has the authority to set Regulations. As a result under The Communications (Television Licencing) Regulstions 2004 U.K. Statutory Instrument No 692 Part 3 Regs 9 - Section 9(2) - it states ‘....where that programme is received at the same time..’ (ie Live). iPlayer is covered by The Communication (Television Licencing ) (Amendement) Regulation 2016 - No. 704 Reg 9 (modification of the CA 2003. The Minister can change the regs - so keep your eyes open for any changes!

Last week I watched a live broadcast of Top of The Pops on my TV iPlayer App. Today BBC licensing emailed me saying that they know I've been using iPlayer and to buy a licence. It's quite simple how they found me, they matched my log in email to my old licence account.
    I've since deleted that account and registered for a new one using a burner email address. There are loads of free sites offering this service. I entered the burner email, password, Post Code - it would be rude not to use W1A 1AA and set my location to London. I'm speculating that the broadcasting infrastructure is BBC owned and maintained and that the commercial channels must use it even though their programming is paid for through advertising and is therefore technically nothing to do with the BBC. Perhaps we'll see the infrastructure split away and the BBC becoming a subscription service. I don't doubt the commercial stations pay a hefty fee to broadcast so are already subsidising the BBC's programming.

      @gr3ywolf144 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnking5174 Thanks for the answer, though not sure that really answers my question...
      So;
      - The BBC is forcing people to pay them money for content that they (BBC) have/had nothing to do with. Essentially that means the BBC is profiting off of the work of other broadcast networks, and thus from other broadcaster 'copyrighted' material.
      - The BBC is a forced subscription service, trying to force people into paying for a subscription that they never signed up to nor necessarily want. They probably dont put it behind a paywall purposely because they know they probably most people wouldnt sign up for it.

    I don't agree that You Tube is a Television service ...
    It is a Social Media platform with millions of channels ...
    Does it mean that if some kid has a Channel and lives in the United Kingdom and goes live on You Tube then we need a TV Licence to watch his stream ? ...
    It has to be a broadcaster that belongs to the BBC , Not just the BBC deciding what is legit and what is not .
    The BBC should take their hands off and look at and change their outdated system instead of making it up as they go along .

    @thebaldyhippy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Hi Jon
    Yes I'm afraid you are correct, this confusion will go on as long as the BBC and their cohorts, capita, perpetuate this. I wonder if one of the major problems getting the message across, is the perception of what, "Live TV" is. To the older generation (me). it's, as it happens, while it's being filmed, no editing, it's been transmitted before it can be edited. That's what live TV used to be in the olde worlde days. When TVs were hand kranked, or metre driven. That's how older folkes have that sorted in their minds and it's hard to change that point of view. When they hear, live TV mentioned now! They think. "I do have some live stuff in with what I watch on TV, so I need a license, so they get a licence. They don't understand that it was filmed live, in their version of live TV, but it was later broadcast on live TV, and then made available via on demand by itv. Just when you thought your job was done matey. You have a long long way to go. Good luck.

    Make no mistake: the BBC is a fantastic organization that has produced no end of fabulous programmes and SUPERB comedy. It also owns the world's greatest television and film archive and without it we'd be much the poorer. However, its political bias is atrocious, and its failure to show us many of the world's most significant and important events is tantamount to censorship. A good example is the Dover Invasion: without Sir Nigel Farage's exposes we'd never know that our own government is facilitating the cultural takeover of our country. The BBC and the rest of the MSM was perfectly happy to keep quiet about it - SO WHAT ELSE DON'T THEY TELL US?

It was refreshing to see im not alone in being absolutely enraged at a service which is supposedly charged with impartiality, acting like a mouthpiece for anti-Brexit, anti-tory, anti-Gov, anti-Boris and pro Eu against UK propaganda. The rules around viewing live programs from other providers and requiring a BBC licence create an unacceptable monopoly. It must be changed. The sooner the BBC becomes accountable and folk can vote with their feet to alternative LIVE VIEWING the better.

    Thanks so much for your videos which I've just discovered today. I'm running through the entire playlist, and this particular vid seems the right place to ask one question I have.
    I've become an avid watcher of Kdramas and kmusic. I watch kdramas via Rakuten Viki and other non-live stuff on Netflix (both paid subs) and use TH-cam for much of the music, so my supply of entertainment is more than adequate. Having realised that I hadn't even turned my TV on for around 12 months, I cancelled my licence about six months ago over the phone.
    During my cancel call, I asked about the viewing of "live" Korean online concerts/events (such as award shows which tend to show many artists in one event). I was told that, despite the fact that I would have paid for a ticket for a Kconcert....and that neither a Kconcert nor a 'live' K-award show would be made by, funded by, or broadcast by the BBC, such concerts or events WOULD still be considered as needing a licence to view as they are - according to the callcentre agent - broadcast by "TV services".
    Can someone please tell me whether this is correct, or if it's only partially correct - or even if it's complete shullbit spouted by the TV licensing callcentre scriptgoblins?
    Also, it's mentioned here that I AM clear to watch live streaming by TH-camrs - is this true even if that is a livestream of, say, a Kconcert viewed VIA TH-cam?
    Thanks in advance for any/all information anyone can give on this.
