How to Repair Playstation 4 Dualshock 4 Controller Charging Issue - PS4 DS4 won't charge sync

- Has your Dual Shock 4 controller stopped working? Does it no longer charge or connect to you PlayStation 4?
In this video I show you how to get it working again! The issue here was the usb port board connected by the ribbon cable to the main board of the controller. We end up replacing the usb port board and using a new ribbon cable to fix the issue!

What worked for me was putting a paper clip into the hole. It reset my controller, and now it’s charging. Thanks dude! 1:05
Hey Khan XO. I just want to thank you for placing this video on TH-cam because you helped me find out the issue to my controller. And speaking as a person who’s controller would not charge and would not light up (blue, red, yellow, etc) this route definitely works. I believe I a different component to the mother piece (JDS-011). I ordered from EBay for about 3-4 bucks. Guys, all it takes is a bit of perseverance, common sense, and basic knowledge to get your controller fixed. Without out you Khan XO I would’ve spent 60-70 bucks for a controller. Literally, saved money, a controller, and happiness. So, thank you again man! Definitely referring you to anyone else who needs help with their controller

I've looked all over the internet trying to fix the charge issue, I've seen people doing what looks like surgery on the controller (Literally) and I almost attempted to do it and then finally found the solution on my own, it was just a faulty charging cable 🤦♂️
Mine disconnects every time I unplug it and it does after I play with it while charging it after a hour and doesn’t work then you charge it then it doesn’t work and does the same cycle so I have to charge all day and get a hour worth of play

Make sure not to use Fast Chargers, from Samsung, or just any Fast Chargers.
I have a brand new controller that never charged. I have an old controller that charges from the PS4 with 2 cables, however they do not work with my brand cable. I tried resetting the controller, several chargers, nothing nada, zero, zip. The light does light up, I was never able to connected to the PS4 thru hold thing ps button and share button.. soo idk what the hell with this remote.

I didn’t have that problem I was just having my ps4 cable for the ps4 cable was loose I just got a tool to make the both ends of the cable tight but this video was interesting to watch lol good explanation bro

Hey man I did everything according to your video, got the model number and was ready to order it. But as soon as I put everything back to together, in a last ditch effort I tried to charge it again, and it worked. The only thing I did outside of your video was simply just blowing and wiping out the dust around the inside, but other than that IDK what i did to make it work. But if it wasnt for your step by step clear and precide instructions, It probably never wouldve worked again, cause I tried numerous other options. So thanks a lot man.

It took me pretty much up to one hour, as I have never done that before.
My usb socket was wasted to the point of no return (not charging anymore) , so I had to replace it, thanks to your video I got to know how and what to look out for, either not to destroy things or important information like number of the usb board.
I have paid for new board like 2.5$ U.S.! where for new controller .. sigh!

Both of my controllers don’t work. I haven’t used my ps4 for about a half a year. But they work for just about a second when I have them in a cable but then they shut off

Totally the same issue. Even the period of hiatus is the same. 6 months not used, now both pads don't charge. No any physical damage done.

I bought a purple "for parts" DS4 for $20 with the plan to fix it. Before doing anything, I pressed the home button, and got a red flashing light. Then plugged it in and got no charging light, but it would then flash white when pressing the home button. Then I squirted some 90% alcohol in the port, blew in it a few times, then let it sit port down for an hour. Plugged it into the console and it worked.
So consider trying to just wash it out with a little alcohol too. Could just be dirty.

Thankyou for the video. But you didn't mention anything about why the cable has been plugged in the way you have shown. Some users may just plug in the ribbon cable incorrectly to avoid the way the cable has been "folded". It was "folded" so that "Pin 1" on the top cover matched with "Pin 1" on the bottom cover.

Hi @khan.XO #khanXo ... Can I repair any Gen 2 Board JDS-011.? I connected the port badly and now it does not turn on any light, nor does it charge, it is totally dead without signal. Maybe there is a diode that can be replaced? Or will it be that the Chip will be very delicate and died for some statics? regards!
JeanQ LEDTV Productions hello, I believe if you have a JDS 011 board you should be able to replace the part and get it working.
Depending on what you mean by connected it badly, it probably shorted or something. I would just replace the board since it is relatively inexpensive.

So does the blue ribbon affect charging? Mine is all connecting but one of the golden pieces at the end is bent...
AleksGamesPL the ribbon cable connects the USB port to the main board.
If there is a problem with the cable, you wouldn’t be able to do anything related to the port aka no ability to charge or sync.

You can also get great deals on batteries. look thru the pics cause most will inform you if it's for the old controllers or the new pro slim ones
my blue ribbons looks fine, i feel like when i plug controller in a power banks it gives charge because power bank light flash but the controller itself never has light. What would you suggest
mosiko6 might be a bad battery, assuming ribbon cable and USB port are fine

I got a charging station for the charging port on the bottom of the controller in between the joysticks and it works fine but you cant play or use the mic while charging it
Yeah if your controller won’t charge at all or no LED lights show just buy a cheap dock. It’ll charge. Idk why ppl just don’t suggest that Instead of doing surgery on the controller

I was having trouble connecting my controller to my new ps4 from my old one and it wouldnt connect. Was using a usb cable I just found laying around and it wouldnt connect to new playstation. I had to use the cable that came with the playstation for it to work. No other cable would work for some reason. So hopefully this helps anyone whos having same issue.
Guys! I had this problem and I thought I had to open up my controller for something but I found out my power point in the room I was charging it in was bad! So before u open your non charging/ can’t keep battery for long controller try using a differnet PowerPoint in the house
what worked for me was that i changed out the battery for a new one and held the share+reset button for about more than 5 seconds. now my controller charges again

I have been using that for my one controller from the original ps4 but then that stopped working so I took it apart and wiggled some wires around and it charges again, but the usb on the back still has broken soldering points

So the board for the touchpad felt like it was vibrating very slightly when i plugged it in like it wanted to work but no light for me. Guess ill need a new one
I connected my controller to my phone and now when I try to connect it to my TV, it doesn't work. I turned my bluetooth off, but the controller is just trying to connect to a different device. The controller works with my phone, it just won't connect to the TV. Please help.

jds-040 is for pro/slim controllers. jds-030 is for the older controllers made before 2016
