If a very healthy person was to try intermittent fasting to get rid of loose skin, and decided on 36 hour fasts, just in general how often should this person do this fast? Would once a week even be effective? If autophagy starts at 24 hours of fasting, how long does this self-eating last? For 36 hour fasts, does this mean that the actual autophagy would last just 12 hours? What you said about getting enough of those raw materials in after fasting is key. That's why I think extended fasting won't work well if one is trying to make sure that the loose skin removed during autophagy is replaced with healthy skin.

Funny how not too many years back, small frequent meals were in favor so as not to cause the body to go into starvation mode and hold on to the fat as a survival mechanism. Now it's the complete opposite. The small frequent meals worked well for so many people including me. One lost weight, and would end up with a well nourished body with good muscle mass and little loose skin. Lots of vegetables, good quality protein including legumes and meat, an assortment of fruits and limited simple carbs works really well. Fell out of favor though, I guess because proponents of the keto diet say too much insulin is released. Too much changing of minds!
