I am happy with my autophagy lifestyle, a combination of A) TMAD (two meals a day) B) an elimination diet (defeating autoimmune illnesses) C) drinking a lot of unsweetened tea, room temperature (nothing else but water and tea). D) a lot of healthy sleep (if needed:. sleeping mask, sleep hypnosis affirmations) Thank you. Love your work here.

After what I categorize as malpractice, I decided (a couple years later) to intermittent fast for two reasons, one: to tighten loose skin and two: get rid of scar tissue (internally) through autophagy. I've been doing it now for almost a year and have noticed no difference in my skin. Are you saying that autophagy doesn't start until 23 hours of fasting? Because I'm doing 16 hours. If I'm not getting those benefits I'll switch to one day a week of 24 hours (or more).

Your advice about talking to your doctor before beginning a diet program sounds pretty boilerplate. Please find me a doctor that knows anything about nutrition. I haven't found one and a doctor is the last person I'm going to talk to about nutrition. Sad but there it is. I'm sure I could get a prescription for a weight loss medication if I wanted one, pharmaceuticals are always available.... Sad!

You’re on your own when it comes to eating for health. Most doctors give you nutrition 101 speeches. They want to prescribe and send you specialist because it’s all about the Benjamins. The most important thing most doctors can do is prescribe lighter doses of medicine you can take while fasting over 24 hours. Even Jason Fung who I enjoy has been fact checked by people in Biomedicine.

That's wild that you did all that on a plant based diet, seeing how much nutrition you give up without eating meat. Also, nutrients in plants isn't very bioavailabile. Did you supplement with b12, k2, carnitine, etc?

@@thomasdaubert1114 eating dead rotting flesh does not have nutrients for humans.. But will actually bring on dis-ease. It's not even our instinct to eat animals. @sallycrawford2729 you've obviously been brainwashed, sorry for your loss. Probably not much there to begin with. Most vegans even admit meat has more bioavailabe nutrition, but they choose to starve their bodies. And none of the flesh I eat is rotting, it's usually very fresh.

"Checking with your doctor" is a good strategy of getting discouraged doing a fast in the first place. Hardly any doctor will recommend fasting for reasons of liability. On top of it often lends people to just rely on the personal opinion of their doctor while disregarding everything else available on the internet.

Doc, how long should I fast? Answer: "OMG, you'll kill yourself----grazing is best, so eat at least 7x a day." Ouch. I really wish there was good data on fast time vs autophagy. I'm on a 3-day fast right now. At 18 hours my blood ketone level was 2.7, at 48-hours 2.8, at 62-hours 4.8. Therefore IF ketone levels are indicative of autophagy for me, at least a 3-day fast is best. What is really fascinating is that once I'm at 48-hours, I could go, literally, for a week. I suspect the trick is get blood ketones above 2.4 or so, they are the "Ozempic" of the body.

There's not significant autophagy up to 36 hours of fasting, especially if you're doing a normal to high carb diet up to the start of your fast. Between 36-72 hours is when autophagy gets started. Three days of low carbs before the fast and you are at least 24 hours ahead when you stop all calories. Not everyone can fast right away. If you're insulin resistant or have other chronic issues like high blood pressure, you will need to monitor your ketones, bp and blood sugar as you go. Everything should be steady and you should be feeling really good. If not, you're mot ready for fasting. If you aren't ready, start with 24 hours and add around 4 hours per attempt until every indicator looks good. In addition to starting with 24 hours when you go for extended fasting, establish an easting window (intermittent fasting) religiously, every day. These together, not just just one of them alone, will get you ready for extended fasting. It's no casual thing. Ease into it and watch your body for signs of trouble.

I started intermittent fasting and eventually progressed to omad. To my surprise and delight, I have no loose skin and in fact, my skin looks very much healthier than before. I am not sure if it was the excersize or the fasting that did the trick. I suspect it was the fasting. I also drank lots of fizzy mineral water with apple cider vinegar.
