*Do you believe you're a good person? If so, then have you ever lied, stolen, cursed, committed adultery, or even murder? If the answer is YES, then you have sinned.* According to the Bible, sin is lawlessness. (1 John 3:4) In other words, you broke God’s law and you are His enemy. God’s enemies end up in Hell, which is a place where there is outer darkness, weeping and gnashing of teeth, and torment that goes on forever with no rest. (Matthew 25:30, Matthew 25:31-36, 2 Thessalonians 1:5-10, Revelation 14:11) Anybody that ends up in Hell will NOT have a second chance after the judgment. (Hebrews 9:27) *Does that concern you?* You might be thinking, “I haven’t murdered anyone or committed any of the bigger sins worthy of hell.” Well, let’s see about that. Did you know that having hatred towards someone like your own brother or sister makes you a murderer at heart? (Matthew 5:21-22 and 1 John 3:15) If you ever looked at a person that you are not married to with lust (sexual desire), then you have already committed adultery with them in your heart. (Matthew 5:27-28) If you have ever said, "Oh my God," or "Jesus Christ," to express frustration or annoyance, then you have used the Lord's name in vain and used it in place of a curse word. That is called “blasphemy.” You wouldn't use your loved one's name as a curse word, would you? By saying His name in place of a curse word, you have insulted your creator. He has given you life, eyes to see, ears to hear, and taste buds for food. *If you have committed ANY one of these sins, then you are destined to go to hell. Do you know what God did for guilty sinners, so that they wouldn’t end up in hell?*
*We have all sinned. (Romans 3:23) So, God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross to bear our sins. He was buried in a tomb and rose on the third day. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) He showed His love toward us by dying for us while we were still sinners (His enemies) so that He could redeem us. God's wrath is on those who remain in their sins and do not believe in His Son, Jesus Christ. We all deserve to be sent to hell. However, Jesus made a way for us to be free from our sins and now wants us to live a different life. If you TRULY BELIEVE in Jesus Christ and what He has done for you, then you must repent (turn away from your sins and forsake them), be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ (born again by water and Spirit), and live for Him with the help of His Holy Spirit, which will help you live a godly/holy life on this Earth. We live as saints (not sinners) to show our gratitude for the love He has shown to us by taking up the cross. We must have faith (believe/trust) in Jesus Christ, and by the grace of God, it will lead us to salvation. Also, FEAR GOD to stay away from evil and the things that would otherwise morally corrupt us, and continue to faithfully and obediently follow the Lord to the end (Hebrews 5:9)*
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7)
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’ ” (Matthew 7:21-23)
"Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God." (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
"Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God." (Galatians 5:19-21)
“But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)
"Whoever desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake and the gospel’s will save it. For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul? For whoever is ashamed of Me and My words in this adulterous and sinful generation, of him the Son of Man also will be ashamed when He comes in the glory of His Father with the holy angels.’ ” (Mark 8:34-38)
"And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me." (Matthew 10:38)
"Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." (Acts 2:38)
"What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? Certainly not! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it? Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life." (Romans 6:1-4)
"For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." (Romans 8:13-14)
"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame. "For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him. For 'whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.' " (Romans 10:9-13)
"Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal: 'The Lord knows those who are His,' and, 'Let everyone who names the name of Christ depart from iniquity.' " (2 Timothy 2:19)
"For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men, teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in the present age, looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself His own special people, zealous for good works." (Titus 2:11-14)
"For the love of Christ compels us, because we judge thus: that if One died for all, then all died; and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again." (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)
"But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.” And if you call on the Father, who without partiality judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves throughout the time of your stay here in fear." (1 Peter 1:15-17)
“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9)
*That was the Gospel message. Believe in the Gospel and obey the Lord Jesus Christ!*

You should not feel any sense of responsibility over your friend's suicide.
Extremely high intelligence is not just a gift, but also a burden. He would feel alienated from his peers, and have many frustrations and concerns that most others would not know about. The negative critical introspection of an intelligent mind, is capable of multiplying emotional issues very quickly, and drugs could have initially numbed him to his pain, but would ultimately exacerbate the problem.
This problem is not of your doing and it is not something you could fix. It is next to impossible that you could say or do anything that would change his mind about his issues and make him believe and feel that his life was worth living.

Yeah, exactly. I've always been gifted and did a ton of my shit throughout my still short life. I have had problems with the poloce on multiple occasions. However I'd still say I haven't done nearly as much shit as some of my gifted friends have, since I'm asocial. All of them have problems with drugs, alcohol. I overcame that.

    • @darestone3335
      @darestone3335 4 ปีที่แล้ว +14

@max That's my point exactly. You need a baseline intelligence. For example, someone with a severely impaired working memory simply can not temporarily retain and manipulate information for long enough or in a complex enough way to arrive at "wisdom". This of course is rare.
Wisdom is a funny word. Means different things to different people. Part of it i would argue is good judgement, something people who are low functioning struggle with. I am reminded of a certain youtuber who for all intents and purposes groomed an intellectually impaired girl into running away from her family and starting a life with this individual. The courts (in Canada) found that this girl did not have the faculties to consent to this and was returned to her family. This is all a long winded way of saying that there is unquestionably a correlation, however small

@@emilsinclair6202 Well to play devils advocate. What would happen if, for example we elect a politician that has an IQ of 85. Now we are faced with an additional problem. Not only is he most likely a corrupt, self interested and a lying politician. He is also underqualified cognitively. People with an IQ of 85 generally work simple, monotonous jobs (according to data).
Do you see what I'm getting at? The fact that politicians and leaders are doing a pore job does not therefore mean that less intelligent people would do any better and i'd argue that they'd do worse. It sound really mean to say but i don't buy this idea that an intellectually challenged person can achieve the same "wisdom" as a person of average or high intelligence

  • @NusquamTamenVerum
    @NusquamTamenVerum 4 ปีที่แล้ว +861

I used to identify as an intellectual but I found it too socially isolating. I traded that life for a more gym/sport oriented life as well as chasing girls and smoking weed etc. and made social gains as a result which inevitably compromised my intellectual passions. It's a trade off which hasn't necessarily resulted in increased QoL as you gain the benefits of positive social interaction (reduced stress, wellbeing, enhanced sense of self worth) but lose the depth of intense passion for subjects, languages etc which bring a unique sense of personal satisfaction and achievement.
I envy people who are mentally strong enough to withstand that social isolation without compromising their identity as an intellectual because in school or even at home with family members it can make you feel incredibly alone.

    • @ethan_martin
      @ethan_martin 4 ปีที่แล้ว +69

For many people, there is no mental strength involved in withstanding social isolation. It is just as completely natural/comfortable. It just depends on who you are. Living a more inward-focused thinking kind of life is just as easy for some as living an extroverted outward-focused kind of life is for others.

See, you’re not all that intelligent if you fall for the psychological pitfalls of society. Most of the stuff you ‘value’ in terms of social standing are just things that less intelligent people are conditioned to believe or need. Generally, if you’re more intelligent than other people, it’s almost impossible to ‘force yourself’ to socialize and pursue that life. Because you’re constantly contemplating the point of it all. Life itself already has no point and pursuing social endeavors is as far from self satisfaction as you can get. Because in order to be social, you actually have to give up part of yourself. People generally don’t care about you, they want to think and talk about themselves. Which is also exhausting to an intelligent person. Why would someone who contemplates the fact that time and space switch spots in a black hole care about social drama between Becky and Sue?

I took IQ test with pyschologist and also while college and scored 154 and 149, respectively. I also have ADHD, both social and generalized anxiety, and extremely introverted. I am an overthinker and spend most of days going down rabbit holes on almost anything (can research on internet 10 hours a day). I don't feel "normal"; almost like I am trapped in my thoughts. I feel my IQ really just equates to having more common sense than most people and having the ability to logically resolve most issues. My grades were just average, I struggle to concentrate in classes and if not for acing exams , I would have failed college. While I make an upper middle wage income, I don't think having a high IQ really has benefitted me but maybe because of the ADHD and anxiety.

That sounds similar to my own experiences, except I can be both introvert and extroverted at times. I spend most of my free time reading online and TH-cam. I used to spend 8 hrs per day at the library (while not enrolled in school). I’ve only taken an online IQ test and scored a 127, which aren’t accurate. It has been suggested that I would likely score higher on the official IQ test that covers more abilities than the online version. I just finished a nursing program which was not a problem for me. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for this video. It’s incredibly liberating to see someone who experiences so many things in a similar way as I do. I’ve always felt like there was something wrong with me, that I was weird. For a long time, I carried very strong self-hating thoughts. My brain actually brought me down to the point where I believed I was dumber than most people and that I’d never achieve anything.
Gradually, though, I’ve started to see that this feeling came from not fitting in with others, and they made me feel like I didn’t belong (and my brain completely used that against me). On top of that, the things I thought were “stupid” turned out to be signs of intelligence.
Believing in my intelligence and abilities is a new thing for me-maybe within the last three years. I still think deeply about many things, and what you mentioned about IQ tests-that you need to think simply-I completely resonate with that. School used to feel too boring, unnecessary, or incomprehensible to me because I function differently than most people. Sometimes, I’d get really bad results on certain tests, but all it took was transferring to a private school in eighth grade, and suddenly, I excelled in many areas.
Self-awareness and finding meaningful connections are currently the most important things in my life. My intelligence has led me into really difficult situations, but perhaps, in the end, it will lead me to much more beautiful things. It’s a double-edged sword. It can either help us tremendously or completely destroy us.
I wish you the best in your life. It’s amazing that you’ve realized why certain things happened to you and have gradually transformed your life. Even though it’s sometimes challenging-I know what you’re talking about-I truly wish for you to feel as content as possible :).

But that doesn't make it any more pleasant of course, nor a reason to simply undergo it. On the conrtrary actually, once you understand what they're really doing (what the social meaning of it is for them, and why they naturally revert to this kind of behavior), it becomes almost logical to not accept any of it and react efficiently.

I had the opportunity to do so. And if you were wondering what we did in that class, well we would just do puzzles and we would read more difficult books. I remember dissecting a couple of more things than I did in regular classes. My IQ has been measured at 141. I am able to grasp things very, very quickly. When learning something new it almost seems that I'm _remembering_ it rather than learning it.
What is strange though is that if I don't use what I've learned I forget it really quickly.
In social situations I basically imitate what others do around me, I'm not great at fitting in.
I'm irritated by and awed by other people.
My hobby is thinking, one of my greatest pleasures in life is to lie awake at night for hours on end just thinking.
I can never get to sleep quickly, it always takes me a minimum of an hour no nod off.
I share your love of Star Trek.
I don't watch many TV programs, but Star Trek and Sherlock Holmes are my absolute favourites.
I love reading, Sci-Fi and Fantasy ara amongst my favourites.
I really hate loud noises. I love quiet.
    I'm a really good programmer - that's what I do for a living.
I'm ashamed to say that I'm really enjoying not having to interact physically with people during lockdown.

    • @Abel.Abelson
      @Abel.Abelson  4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

Hey Michael, I enjoy the lockdown too, for the most part, and I'm not ashamed to say or think or feel so. I'm not hurting anyone in being an introvert and enjoying peace and calm (and the more environmentally friendly lifestyles of other people, be it unwanted).
I used to imitate a lot too, but I found out it isn't necessary. They actually don't give a hoot about you, as long as you don't get in their way. And if you get in their way, and "own" your point or stance, they'll even respect it, and it's not a problem either. So you can actually be yourself to a large degree, they don't care. The only thing you have to do, is not overexpose yourself. Their screaming indifference is your safe haven.
I know it sounds like publicity, but you might be interested in my latest book "How to handle neurotypicals" bit.ly/neurotp. It's a lifetime of learning in a condensed format, it's meant to be informative, and "connect" between neurodivergents at the same time. Meaning they talk about "the human" this and that ("the human condition", etc), but actually there are innate neurological differences between (groups of) humans that are so huge that there's nothing you can say in general about the human experience/existence/... that makes sense, if you see what I mean. All of them blissfully unaware of neurodiversity and how your individual neurological setup defines your inner and outer world. The only philosopher I kind of like, and in retrospect, that acknowledged neurodiversity in an instinctive way, was Diogenes of Sinope. Cool guy :) Story goes an emperor who was an admirer of his came to see him while he was sitting outside, and asked him what he could give him, and Diogenes replied "if you could just move aside a few inches, you're blocking my sun" :)

As another person who’s been called ‘gifted,’ I really relate to what you said. There was a time in my childhood that I tried to dumb myself down in an attempt to gain social capital. It really just ended up making me look like the class clown, which didn’t help anyone relate to me. It caused me to fall behind and develop unhealthy responses to work and stressors, which are becoming much more prominent now that I’m further along in my education. For any other ‘giftees’ reading this, don’t do what I did. Being yourself is the only satisfying way to be. Also, educate yourself about Asperger’s, OCPD, and ADHD. They’re extremely under diagnosed and I would hesitate a guess that at least half of the gifted kids at my school were on the Asperger’s spectrum. If you constantly feel like you see the world in a different way than other people, that’s a big clue. It’s important to understand how this condition can affect you because the world is built to serve the needs of neurotypical people.

Communities like tech, science, and creative arts (everyone wants to be an artist but I'm talking about musicians, etc. that are good enough to actually make money out of it) tend to have a higher abundance of others with a high IQ. I actually met my wife because we were both doing creative arts for a living at the time. I've since moved on to I.T. because I love it and it makes a better living but that's what prompted us to get to know each other. If so, the results would be better or worse? If has to do with information, it’s normal to forget. If it has to di with age, it’s normal for gifted children to have stuff that is too easy (and a lot of classmates that perform less than they are expected by the government, criteria that is low fir gifted people). The Dunning-Kruger effect can happen in any decil, because competence and confidence (whether low or high) its there. Maybe you noticed flaws you didn’t see before, but that is part of your personal journey. Do you have a project more complex that you had before? that is also part of you getting more developed: the thing is that you didn’t have to put the same effort as the other people under a far less chaotic environment, in which you are a possibility that is not being helped as it should, because gifted children are also special needs

I have an IQ of 137-142, unsure of exact number now. I am finishing medical school soon and starting training in psychiatry. I prefer to spend most of my free time alone. I know a tremendous amount about my hobbies and am easily bored with people who don't know a lot about at least something. I have also had troubles in the past, like social phobia/anxiety and severe alcohol and drug addiction when a teenager, but I have been recovered from the latter for 10 years. My life struggle is the difficulty in communicating my complicated philosophies and knowledge systems to others--for me, they are like instantaneous visions, if that makes any sense, and verbalizing these takes a lot of words. Sometimes I must resort to telling people, "I'm right about this. Just trust me." And my other difficulty is that my way of viewing the world and making decisions is based on a mental catalog of thousands of research papers and books I've read, and it is frustrating to relate to people who just make choices out of transient feelings at a given moment in time, almost at random.

Or open a textbook in advance medicine and ask yourself, how much of the diseases and symptoms etc can you actually recognize that is beyond the average medical student? If your answer is, yes I can do advance calculus with easy from heart on a white piece of paper, or even in my head, or I can recognice several medical symptoms and add them up and put a correct diagnosis on rare diseases outside of the basic textbooks you learn in class, yea then you might be on to something. Thank you for this. You’ve described everything I’ve lived with for 47 years. I had always thought I was mentally ill until a psychologist told me that there was nothing wrong with me and sent me to a behavioral specialist to have an IQ test. It’s a bit of a struggle since I tend to think in very abstract concepts, and when I offer help (like you describe), it is often met with a negative response. My wife says I come across as cold and unsympathetic and that is why I get negative reactions. It’s a constant learning process now, and I find sometimes I have to act like someone else in social settings.

Now I realize that my issue is that I see way too far ahead. At work people want to do step A, then step B and then step C. Then I come in and say that we can already work on Z and ignore the first few steps. I can be right, and my idea can be great, but if I cave in because I'm in minority, the meritt of my idea won't mean much. It's one of the craziest things you learn in life. I’ve become somewhat of a dilettante and found it very difficult to function “normally”, every professor I had at University wanted to see me personally after reading the first paper I would submit and tell me if I only knuckled down I could pursue an academic career but I could never select a single field of study; I find most social interactions profoundly unfulfilling, have worked a wide variety of jobs without being able to discover a sense of vocation (the closest I came to a career was as a chef because it’s so challenging, but eventually the hours and outrageously low wages wore me down). Depression, isolation and a kind of listless drift have been the mainstays of my adult life, along with a constant, nagging sense of failure.

I was labeled as top 2% of top 2%, passing mensa exams at 12, but I left the straight and narrow and coasted through education only putting effort into exams and expectedly diddnt achieve my potential accedemicly.
I think of most things about modern life in comparison to humans over millenia from diet to behaviour.
Were not designed to be in the class room.
I still exell in understanding new topics and spend most of my free time learning but I found my calling in life not purely thinking and achieving acedemic success but getting a fairly regular job as a renderer (throwing various types of mud and rock at walls) my understanding of the sciences along with being very physical have left me legues above the types who usually take up this trade and now I do very well in life and feel great satisfaction. I do have the strangest of hobby's as most would regard them to satisfy my hunger for understanding and knowledge.
I get the depression thinking about how the world works and almost seeing into the future with certain personal and social situations that I feel powerless to effect. It's easy to wish ignorance.
Maybe try something similar in aiming to what seems to be beneath you but obsessing and developing ideas in somthing more seen to be left to the average level thinker. We don't have to develop the next futuristic tech or ground breaking paper. All aspects of humanity need all types of people to move forwards.

It takes either an artist or a great understanding of sciences, maths ect to be at the top of the game. That could be your calling if you were pulled to it. Try aim at a small scale business rather than a busy kitchen where you could have influence over menus and dishes in time, it wouldn't take much to be able to do the same your self and be your own boss in a small establishment bringing some much needed confidence and moral boost feeling valued in your own small part of society. It doesn't take much to go from feeling worthless to feeling you were here for a reason.
I don't mean t get all profound and trying to dish out too much advice to a stranger, but oak treas grow from tiny acorns and sometimes your best off jamming that star shaped peg in the circle hole. I've never done an intelligence test, so I don't know if I'm smart or that I just think I'm smart. Anyway, after doing some intellectual jobs, I decided to get a simple job, work as less as possible (because I've never found a job I'm passionate about) and use the left-over time to figure out how I can renovate my house and survive on as little as possible. That... made me a happier person, because I can use my brain to find solutions and then put them in practice. I like the thinking part more than the acting part, but I decided that it's part of the deal. Nothing has to be perfect either, just enough to give me a sense of 'having done the best I could'.

If it makes you feel a little better I'm more or less in the same boat. Perhaps not as abused. Grew up in a broken household, surrounded by drunks, father shot through, mother hooked up with a neighbor who was more of a drunk. Always hungry, I would get new clothes when my pants were 15-20cm over my socks and skin tight.
But in school, yeah I didn't try because I knew my parents had no money for university. I would be perpetually third and never study for anything. 1 & 2 both had tutors and studied hard. Both ended up as doctors. But... I did ok. I taught myself to program when I was 12. How the hell did I get a computer at 12 in such an environment? I delivered milk every day for 2 years and refused to 'loan' to my parents. Why computers. I found my inspiration. A movie called 'Wargames'. I kept learning. Taught the y12 computer class... but knew, No Uni for me. Applied for private education and tried to pay it off by working at McDonalds. That didn't work. Taught myself Visual Basic and got a job. In 2 years I doubled my income, in 3 years tripled with industrial certification. Today, I'm at the top of my field. A CIO balked at hiring me at one point because I'm paid more than him. He put me on a 2 year contract... and paid me even higher. These days I do Cybersecurity and Legislative Compliance Consulting for the IT space, mostly banking.
These days I have multiple properties, including a retirement rural estate. My son boards overseas following his dream of being a pro hockey player. Nice cars, nice safe suburb, private schooling all the way for the kids. I'm sitting here programming my own computer game, enjoying life doing what I like.
This is not a showing off post... the post is entirely for you because I thought I "can't" when I was young, until one day I realized that other people I was competing against had no drive and no ability and kind of just hoped for the best and leaned heavily on social connection to muddle through.. I had a goal, a dream the whole time. I was relentless and eventually I started planning ahead. Now, many years later I realized that the 'hard start' I had made me very independent, very self sufficient and it bolstered me against most of life's weaknesses. I have never smoked, drink maybe once a year, never taken drugs. I reject and resent almost everything about my childhood and that made me stronger, more focused and a better competitor in the world. I never forgave. I never forgot. Growing up hard, makes you hard in response. You may find it's a tool as valuable as anything else you have rather than a weakness.

I identify with this a lot. When I was a child, I was deemd "gifted" and placed in a school on Long Island called LISG (Long Island School for the Gifted). I had to know why everything works. I was able to read fluently by age 3. Later on, I was shifted into public schools, and began to resent this "gifted" label, and so I tucked it away, and just wanted social acceptance. After my parents divorce, I just spiraled down over the next 20+ into a life of drugs and eventually prison. I also had to deconstruct and reconstruct my life and give it real meaning and purpose.
You are right: "giftedness" is not any true advantage, due to me learning the hard way that compassion and empathy will supercede intelligence any day.
The takeaway is this: It is only what the word means: a GIFT, and it's what you do with this "gift" that gives it any meaning. Treating everyday with people with dignity, respect, and encouragement and just taking time to listening to them and their struggles has been the greatest gift to me now, and has derived the most meaning now for me. I wish anyone with a "gift" to learn to make it into a gift to humanity and not just yourself. Cheers.

I'm Kenyan & I took the online Mensa Norway test and scored a 131 . I really find my self stupid on certain occasions and extremely clumpsy with small things. So this result kinda took me by surprise on first glance . Then I remembered that I never used to struggle academically in primary school and was sort of curious and enthusiastic of certain fields of science. So I guess I drew the results from that . When I reached Highschool my mind became really hyper and at times I used to be lost in imagination and contemplation various concepts & ideas . I can also say that I got bored with school and I didn't do that well in my KSCE ( this are national exams one does at the end of highschool before joining university, kinda like SAT tests.) My ksce score got me humbled so much and at the same it kinda made see myself as more stupid than I already did . I'm working to get rid of this mindset but i'm not sure if I should because I find viewing oneself as more intelligent can ,in some sense ,make them arrogant.

I think the natural reaction to such feelings is to put them away or at least hide them, thinking "I can't be better than other people", or "I'm not that special".
It's very refreshing hearing an honest report about all this!

About 10 years ago I tested for 130-140 as well.
It's quite hard to communicate because people don't understand most of your points because you have to take them through all the logic. Once I adopted "Get money, f*** b****es " and "Never explain, people only hear what they want to hear" it became easier. But really people just bring you down and they never ever say that you're smarter. Quite opposite, they make you think your "advantage" is worthless.

So much of your experience resonates with me. I am trying now in my 30's now and have been reconciling and processing my experience growing up and my feelings about others. It is cathartic yet melancholy at once, isolating and empowering. I grew up knowing my IQ was high as a kid because I needed to take them as I am also dyslectic. I have always felt different than most but instead of thinking everyone was dumb, I have lived most my my life just thinking everyone was "faking it" to fit in. It's hard to describe because I thought ( and maybe it is) normal, but I think about things always from the "ground up". that is, when I understand a concept or arrive at an opinion on something, I cannot help but see its connections to other ideas, and can trace its validity down to lower level "first principals". When I speak to people I am often surprised by the things they do not track with me on, as they are often something thought where obvious and not the interesting part of what I was trying to convey. IDK all this sounds I fear like a kind of brag, it is difficult because you cannot talk about this stuff really. Yet It really is confusing and I am so curious about it.

Yeah I can totally relate to the idea of breaking things down to first principles. My ex said I would overanalyze, but the results of this "analysis" were immediate and automatic for me, whereas for her she would have had to think through them in a purposeful way. And yes, it usually boiled down to moral or logical inconsistencies that were impossible for me to ignore. I'm still not sure if this is beneficial or detrimental overall, but it certainly has created social challenges for me.

I also have a pretty high iq, and did well in school despite family chaos and going to more schools than I can remember.
I've been struggling recently to acknowledge and accept my ability to learn and my differences there without it going straight to my ego. I've actually been 'playing dumb' to get along as to avoid that conflict.
All that is to say, I love your framing of the differences between people and the use of the term intellectual giftedness. It helps frame it as a gift I was given instead of something I made myself, which is humbling.

My IQ is 130+ and had never problems with learning. In primary schools, I read informative books secretly under the table, because I was bored by understanding the lessons relatively fast. Same with secondary school. But in university, I had problems with studying because I never had to learn that. Many secondary exams later, I managed to study more efficient and it is okay now. But the thing in learning is that cognitive capabilities are just a part of gaining knowledge about the world. Other factors are for example education and social skills. Knowing yourself and your limits is a must to succeed in life. Being humble because someone else could have been born with intelligent genes instead of me as well.

Hello! 👋I'm Leon and I've always been purely facinated by the IQ-Intellectually gifted community/people, and I seek to question how their mind works in difference from mine, so as we can all learn and improve. I have a strong imagination, and I can find and create intentions very well. I have used this gift in order to compound upon my logical intellect, and solve the bigger problems in my life. For example, I use my gift of imagination in order to strengthen my learning, by creating images and emotions that I'll remember, and associating them with the fact and figures I'm learning, in order to memorize that information all together.
Here's my the big-big Discussion + Questions I would like to ask you:
I was wondering if having a high IQ allows you to more easily ask the correct questions, about the world for the sake of life's purpose. More especially, questions about purpose, intention, and organizing intentions in means goals and an end-goal. In other words, does high-IQ itself open the intention and awareness within yourself, that aid in taking better internal and emotional decisions. For example if you were in pain or trying to solve something, do you handle the pain with thoughts? Thoughts like "What am I feeling right now? What is the situation I'm in right now? What is the best decision I can make? How can I get into flow? What is the best logical decision and thought? What is the best emotional decision and thought? What is the best pessimistic decision and thought? What is the best optimistic decision and thought? What is the best creative decision and thought? What is the best management decision and thought? What am I gratefulful for? What would be the best meta-cognition thing I can do? What would be a compounding action/thought? Where should I concentrate my energy and focus? What is the most important thing I should do right now? What are the most important questions to ask myself? What Experiences do I want? What Growths do I want? What Contributions do I want [to make]?
Overall, I show all this because I've always wanted a high-IQ in order to more effectively follow through with my creative ideas and mental-maps & intentions. Thus, I ask the question, do those with High IQ have greater self-awareness and creativity? (This sounds passive-agressive but it's not:) Do you make better decisions?

    • @shahsanahullah952
      @shahsanahullah952 ปีที่แล้ว

@@Ceorious Imagination is a part of intelligence for sure.
Hight IQ allows you for sure to ask the right question because of good memory and insight capabilities make you see the holes in certain lessons faster while other are still processing what just is said. Inteligence is no guarantee of being wise in term of life, some intelligent people don't think of that because they are busy with something else, but in general yes, gifted people have in general more free time philosophing about life and the universe what enables them to see deeper patterns in things.
Intelligence can for sure give better decision-making by providing yourself with the ability to analyze multiple perspectives, weigh pros and cons, and predict potential outcomes. However, decision-making is also influenced by experience. For example, knowing the reason of certain moods, keeping your cool during arguments, knowing what you want without being distracted. When things go wrong, don't panic but take mentally a step back to analyze the problem from viewer perspective and try to find an logical and practical solution for it.
Another thing is that education isn't limited to your parents and teacher, so it is important to take the responsibility of education into your own hands (especially in adulthood), because learning never stops. What I did to develop myself was the following. After every day in the evening, I write down everything that happened like a diary. Most people use this to not forget thing but it can also be used to analyze yourself and your behavior. I analyze what goes right and what goes wrong. The right things keeps me positive and for the bad things I try to finds solutions every day. For example I had problems with social media and as solution I placed blockers in it (pc: Cold Turkey blocker, phone: App Block payed version). This is just an example.
Avoid contact with people who have not much useful to do in life. It is better to be alone and work on your goals than being with people who never contribute to your well-being and crave for attention. Be emphatic for someones difficulties, but be able to relativate their "suffering " to the suffering that other people (for example in developing countries) undergo.
I cant't speak for others because every life is different, but evaluating everyday is something that surely helped me. Slowly but surely my life improved after gradually implementing good habits everyday (consistent studying, working student jobs, regular sleep, very precise and detailled planning everyday, working out etc). Important to know is that everybody has a bad day and that is okay, it is almost impossible to change your life in one moment. Slow and steady wins the race.
My decision-making is much better now. And I think that the concept of evaluating can be applied to all lifes, including yours. Hopefully this will help you to find answers for all your questions.
And the most important thing is that a good future is mainly build on discipline, consistency and a good network. Intelligence surely helps but effort is the most necessary. Hopefully this will help you and good luck!😁

Not sure how gifted I am but your point about people confidently going 'straight' in their lives is very relatable. So many people (not everyone) don't have a plan and suffer predictable consequences. And whenever I explain why something they are doing will lead to certain outcome even with unbreakable logic and step-by-step they just either don't get it or agree with it but still ignore it. Over time I just learned to suppress my urge to try to explain these things and let things happen as they do.

I don't have a high IQ and I don't have a formal diagnosis for ADHD (ADD) even though I believe it's possible I have it, but I related to a few things you mentioned about your childhood, I always felt like I saw details no one else paid attention to. However, I also feel like my personal drive to be womanly in terms of preparing myself to be a wife or mother someday, nerfed someone of that development. And I wouldn't trade that, I'm happy the way I am. I am intelligent, and successful and caring. That's good enough for me.

Super cool comment! Might I suggest a modest reframe however? As someone with extraordinarily high IQ & ADHD - get tested. It is SO much better to know than to wonder. There's also a high correlation of ADHD & high IQ, also if you're high in femininity you'll tend to notice details others won't as well, but please don't think that your femininity 'nerfed' your intellectual development. My grandmother was a math savant and among the world's first computer programmers. To this day the coolest woman I've ever met and I miss her every day. She was an auto-didact polymath with ADHD and was the sharpest wit I've ever known. I admire your prioritization and think it reflects your intelligence far more than 'nerfing' it.

Hi, thanks for commenting! I'm glad it was meaningful to you. The problem in the end is not how one is or is not, it's the feeling of being the only one to be like this, isn't it. Don't forget to check out my books too ;) amzn.to/3paQsmz

Here also, everything you said resonates a lot. It feels good knowing we aren't a few!

Being more intelligent than 98% of the population but not intelligent enough to do something extraordinally profound is such a depressing and isolating experience.

I am struggling with finding someone to talk to about this without them rolling their eyes thinking I'm trying to "brag" about certain things. For instance the way people act without thinking or acknowledging their own behaviours as they react to things. Also, I have struggled with anxiety and don't enjoy large groups of people as I feel drained by social interactions. I can really relate to what you talked about in this video. Thank you!

I have a question of what do you even want to talk about? If you are smarter than an average person, is there anything of value an average person can offer? You should be able to answer your own questions in your head much faster than formulating them verbally and then waiting for the reply of a person who would probably give you a worse answer. I know I am making a lot of assumptions here, so please answer the question in an open-ended fashion.

@@peezieforestem5078 I understand your question and will try to answer. It is not really to do with questions that needs to be answered and more about wanting (sometimes) to discuss a topic and feel understood. Perhaps it is about me feeling lonely, perhaps it is my bruised ego telling me I'm different when I see or hear people judging me for "overcomplicating things" or simply "acting like I know stuff ."
Also, there is danger I think in staying in your own echo chamber never bothering with the ideas of others, good or bad. So I don't believe that there isn't value in "average ideas."
But it is a complicated question. Do I need validation from my peers? I don't know that is the case. I think it has more to do with wanting a "release." To be able to just speak to someone and have it returned unfiltered from biases and scoff. Don't know if you got a satisfying answer here but at least it's something.

@@jesperjee The answer is not really satisfying, but I think I got the gist. Would it be fair to say you have more of an emotional need to have someone who will understand you?

@@peezieforestem5078 I don't know. I am not usually bothered by it. It's not so much of a need really, I don't need to talk to anyone really. It's just that I often get disappointed when I do. And because I often look inward when I get these feelings, probably to try and humble myself and not be so arrogant, I think I am the problem and not everybody else. I.e I feel "not normal" and sometimes that bothers me. Why I care I do not know.
