  • In the Philippines, we uncover the inner workings of human trafficking syndicates who con Chinese nationals into entering the country to work illegally in online gambling operations. Runaways are caught, beaten up and ransomed for huge amounts of money.
The Philippines Senate conducts an inquiry into the illegal activities of these online gambling companies and uncovers a bribery scheme at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport and the Bureau of Immigration. It also reveals how prostitution rings are being run like food delivery businesses on social messaging apps.
Is the Philippines at risk of becoming a hub for the criminal operations of these online gambling companies? And why haven’t the authorities managed to crackdown completely on them?

I have worked as a shuttle driver for POGO for 3 years and so far I can say is I'm thankful that I was employed in a good company that pays on time and they have been very good to me. But I have seen some of the employees, even the big bosses is that most of them squander their money here through physical casinos, drinking almost everyday and hiring prostitutes. I heard most of the employees they hire is from far-flung provinces in China coming from poor families and they come back to their families after 6 months (because they only have tourist visa, not working visa) empty handed. I can see the upside on our economy these POGO operations benefit like rental fees, tax collections, they support the local economy around them, jobs for Filipinos but there are so much evil and bad outcomes that they unleash (the nature of the business was evil to begin with). That's why we need our legislators to think about policies that will benefit both us Filipinos and the Chinese people for the greater good.

"if we can remove bad people, everything will be fine." foolish. it does not occur to you that the system makes these people bad. there will never be a lack of supply of corrupt politicians. The point is: too much regulations and un-smart illegalizations makes POGOs lucrative in the first place. the same is true with drugs.

FYI to everyone, the woman in 4:15 is clearly not typical of a chinese national. her accent is of a local filchi speaking philippine hokkien. I can tell this due to her jinjiang/quanzhou based accent and her choice of vocabulary such as tagalog loan words like "lang" not meaning person, but meaning "only". Her articulation is somewhat that of a 2nd or 3rd gen filchi who speaks philippine hokkien quite well actually, but not the same articulation that of a recent mainland immigrant even from the same region as her ancestors. Something is fishy going on behind the scenes of this documentary. or perhaps maybe the lady is a chinese national but long lived in the philippines. Who knows? but im just pointing out clear observations that she doesnt seem as a chinese national more so than just a binondo resident

The root must be cut down. Kahit naputol yung ibang sanga, tutubo ulit ng iba. Pogos were linked with crimes but the government still insisted for it to operate in exchange of taxes which are not actually submitted and even permit its development for the next few years instead of stopping it. It musth be stopped once and for all. Government revenue from them can not compensate mistreated lives and sufferings of employees.

A Chinese without any technology goes to another country whose economy is worse than China to make money, thinking that he will make more money than in China? In addition to gambling, drugs and the underworld, what other good jobs can be? Such people with the dream of getting rich are often the easiest to be deceived.I hope that the Philippine government will not condone these gambling institutions just because these Chinese online gamblers bring financial revenue to their local government, and support the Philippine government to crack down on these Chinese people.

This documentary if anything proves how much easier it has become for Chinese syndicates to have their way in the PH ever since this administration started. The drug war was all a show. I am all for taking a tough stance against drugs, BUT THERE MUST BE ORDER to how it's done, the drug war we have now is pure stupidity and only breeds impunity with little to show for in the end (since drugs still have a freeway into the country from China). In other SEA countries capital punishment works to mitigate drugs bc it's just one part of the gameplan which includes law and institutional reforms, corruption erradication and etc, plus they adhere strictly to the judicial process based on proper criminal investigations, whereas in the Philippines it's like the Wild² west shooting up any poor dude with a syringe while the real drug bosses sits nicely at his office in Hong Kong pushing politicans and police. Winnie the Pooh and his lapdog took the Filipino people for a ride and the people only have themselves to blame for being too stupid anf take the bait🤢
