First and foremost, please do not use the ship I used in the video (Type 10), it was such a pain especially since it moves like a truck that is stuck in mud and not enough slots for hull reinforcements.

As for the Caustic sinks, the initial 2 materials are easy to get, Caustic shards requires bit of rng since it has a chance to spawn randomly around the caustic clouds, so make sure to use your decontamination limpets!.
Speaking of limpets, I recommend fitting a size 7 Multi-limpet controller.
The engineering material is really easy to get since it is grade 2 and 1s only! and received from the same type of material trader.
Finally, the Caustic tissue sample, this can only be obtained from a caustic generator using a research limpet, the main problem about this is that it is a cargo item. Which then implies that you must survive hyperdictions / Interdictions and reach the rescue ship.
To solve this, you can depend on other brave commanders to do the job for you! just buy them from a fleet carrier that has the commodity.
Just make sure to look at commodity markets in websites like Inara before you head out.

Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong. I'm in the maelstrom and I'm capable of loitering around for quite sometime. I've destroyed several caustic generators, but non of them are dropping any material that I can see and pick up with my limpets.
I think that was a bug, it recently got patched no ?
What materials are you looking for ?
