If your ~5k ressources were not in the bank or in production you would have held him off easily. It wouldn't even have mattered if you spend it all on units or went castle and got some upgrades. But thats the problen with cheese strategies. They rely on the opponent making a mistake. One game on the stealth forest map I was raiding his base with Rus knights and felt pretty good but he snuck one single villager in one of my corners and just build archers+rams. I didn't sawe it coming while playing with 3 scouts. I died before my army was back at my base...
I did it many times and in my opinion it works way way better with rus 😅😅 cause when the Mongol is still in dark age without harrassing you after 10 Minutes… you should know whats going on But with rus you can go golden gate feudal and go hunting cabins
