I say bullshit on that. I have enough property and if I want to have 10 cars in my driveway I can. If I want 15 in my driveway I can. I could park them anyway I want ...I can paint my house any color I want ... I can put up an 85 foot flagpole with Stars and Bars if I want, I could shoot guns in my yard till 10 p.m... it's mine to do what I please... everything I mentioned above isn't happening in an HOA.

in total agreement with comments regarding HOAs. I grew up with the family having 165 acres in a "non-major city attached" county. We wanted to build a barn or burn a pile of brush, we did so. No one came knocking on our door about what we were doing. But living in the big city? Actually lived (and still do) in South Central Texas big city, and not only city gestapo code compliance but HOA compliance. We're done. Buying in the country where if I want to raise chickens, cats, or build a barn or dig a basement, I don't ask anyone for permission! Totally done with this totalitarian approach to living. Great price on that shop, btw and excellent video. Thanks for sharing. New sub!
What's the best way to paint a door like the white one. Yours looks very well done. I have a metal building with one of those doors and I want to paint it but not sure of the best way. Thanks
My son and I were talking about doing this we're looking at a building we put together ourselves. A 40 by 100. Kit 29000. You did leave out permits codes . That would be a nice little added feature , and complications that may come from that
ja go thank you so much. If you give elite metal structures a call and let you know that I sent you they will discount it for you. I did have to get a permit but that was the easiest part. Just went down and filled out the forms and paid them. Lol. It seems they are most interested in the money. The concrete work was the worst part but really that wasn’t bad. Just cost more than I expected.
My sons and I built my shed/barn(according to who you ask) in 2001. It is 30x40' with 10'3" clear height inside and 6'3" clear 30x40' loft. It is 23' peak height with 6/12 and 17/12 pitched roof. Fully insulated, concrete floor, OSB inside walls covered, bright red metal outside with white metal roof. At the time the building cost me $15,000. The reason I mention it is, I ran the metal on the sides horizontal as your shed is. I think it makes for a better look! You still need to do electrical installation yet. At least if you're going to put in a lift, you will. Congratulations on a very nice building! Respectfully, Kevin
hearts lessons I just installed LEDs but that is a great idea. I did a video on the LED install. Now I wish I had looked into solar. Didn’t even think about it.
@@techiegirl2927 I can totally understand that. I’m surprised how much they have gone up as well. I want to believe that prices will go back to what I paid but as long as people are paying they will keep holding the higher price.
Electrical is being done now and didn’t really require anything that couldn’t be done later. There is no plumbing in the building so no need to rough that in.
I'm going to be doing this, albeit slightly smaller of a building. Thanks for breaking the costs down. Thank goodness there isn't an HOA to crimp my style.

The brick exterior looks amazing and you got a decent price. Did they lay the bricks just over the metal siding? Trying to figure out if there were any gaps between the metal and brick
Awesome video 👍 finally someone who actually explained pricing and the reasoning for it, I have been planning on building this exact one for over a few months now. I have seen some go even cheaper if I am willing to do some of the work. I just have a hard time deciding between wood or metal 🤔 I like the metal buildings but wood buildings are easier to; insulate, run electric, plumbing, and heat/ac. I work full time and have a small business on the side and I go trail riding sometimes with my Jeep. My current "shop" is getting very crowded and I have to share it with 4 people. So I am in the process of finding out what's involved to put up a building like this one in my area. Thanks for the video now I have a general idea of a budget/savings to do 👍
My 24x36 I-beam style building in Las Vegas cost me about 40k when all said and done. This was with me putting up the building but my building was only 11k delivered to my driveway. The rest was in cement, which my pad has insane footers of 3x3x3 under every beam, and all the other bs the city wanted. I had to have my yard core sampled 15ft down, soil tests done, an architect draw up offical pad plans, a fastener inspection done, it was a total pain in the a$$. I finally had to hire a contractor to just deal with the city and put me in touch with the right people. I got off cheap at 40k it could of been much worse. I'm glad that you don't have to deal with that stuff in your area.
Wow and thank you for the comment. I had no idea what other states could make you go through. I feel a little better about, what I thought was a rough process. LOL
Get one level higher service wiring connected to the building by the utility company than you expect to need. It costs a little more for the wire from pole to building, but its cheaper than having to redo it.
I'm glad I ran across this video I have been in the HOA nightmare never to do it again. I have a question how difficult would it to build a 100ftx60ft building in a purchase piece of land. It will be full size regulation gym with a smaller living space over top of the gym any help with this would be appreciated. Thanks!

newbie here. Is there another option(faux brick) available to match (my) brick home, or is that pretty much a masonry expert, job? Great looing building!
Thank you so much. This is real brick, as I wanted to use the same as my house. There are some Faux bricks that you can use. Some are about 1/2 inch thick and would have been great for this.
I put up a Stick built addition to my garage 24’ deep x16’ wide & 16’ high the slab was 27 yards of 4K lbs concrete - trusses -9 @$125. A piece- 2’ on center. Also did a section 6’ x12’ of 12” thick concrete for a lift. 2x6 stud walls. In my area Hudson Valley, NY - building permit not able to have a complete garage bigger than the square footage of my house, they are serious as a heart attack. 10’x10’ insulated garage door installed was $1800. +/- this was done in 2011 grand total $19,000. +/-!
I have the exact same size metal garage as yours. I really like the brick front. Did you have to do a special footing for the brick, if so what size footings?
Hi john... thanks for this video. I'm in the process of getting things together for a garage myself, and was having a difficult time finding a steel garage. But I went on elite metal structures and found the perfect garage. Thank bro!!!

Thanks for the vid. Lately, I've been getting quotes for a 30x60 metal shop, but with 110/220 power. The quotes have been in excess of $70k. Not sure why so expensive. Probably because I live in Calif.

Don Guillermo del Norte yes on both. I went to the city office and they give you a packet with everything they want and how they want it. Then you complete the forms and pay 250. They will come inspect along the way and at the end sign off on the building.

COUNCIL QUIRKS thank you for the question. All of the roll up doors, windows, and insulation was part of the 17K. The doors are manual doors. I did think about skylights, and probably should’ve went that route but I was trying to keep cost down.
It turned out that rustoleum spray paint made it super simple and much easier than a lot of those garage door coating systems. Ask me how I know, I bought one for $100 and it looks like crap.
I'm building a log home now and trying to decide if a metal building can fit in with the log home vibe. It'll cost me 4-5 times more money to build a matching log garage than it will to build a metal garage. Any suggestions?
So for me I wanted a garage that matched the house. I got a Quote for a stick built building with brick and it was about five times more than what I paid with the brick façade.
@@JohnEngel Ya.. thats pretty much the same situation here. I was considering stick building it myself and log siding it, but even that route would cost more than double the cost of a metal garage. We're only building a 24x24 two car garage. Tho I wouldn't mind a loft upstairs.. its not a deal breaker if we don't get it. Anyway.. I'm debating on getting a metal building.. and trying to match the color as close as possible to the log stain on the house.. and then log siding the front face only. I'm still un-decided tho. Anyway.. nice job on the garage. It looks great.
@@JohnEngel Oh.. our other option is to try and match the metal siding to the metal roof on the log home. That way.. it wouldn't be a matching log home.. but it would still look like we coordinated it with the metal color. Cheers...

This video was very helpful, I am about to build a 30 x 50 garage but with three doors on the long side
Thank you so much. I wanted to make something that would help because when I started I had no idea. To be honest, I still have no idea. Lol.
Great job but I would never live where there is an HOA. I'm not paying someone every month to tell me what I can't do with MY property That I own.
I've been telling my wife that as we home search...I do not want anyone telling me that I can paint my fence blue or how I should park my car...that's like paying someone 300000 to tell me how to live on or at my own crib...not gonna happen
@@maxziplock sorry for you. You have a narrow perspective.
I say bullshit on that. I have enough property and if I want to have 10 cars in my driveway I can. If I want 15 in my driveway I can. I could park them anyway I want ...I can paint my house any color I want ... I can put up an 85 foot flagpole with Stars and Bars if I want, I could shoot guns in my yard till 10 p.m... it's mine to do what I please... everything I mentioned above isn't happening in an HOA.

did you add any material between the brick and the metal building? like Zip Board?

Well done

Down with HOAs Building with no insulation on the ceiling and walls?
Thats on another video.
Nice building I like the way you blended it in with your house!
Thank you. I’m really happy with the end result.
I think you did really good. I question if that roof would work in the north east/ snow load. ?
Thank you so much. The company that I used designs each building to meet the state code. I am sure up north they would have to make it stronger to hold additional weight. :)
in total agreement with comments regarding HOAs. New sub!
What is the distance from the floor to the bottom of the angled bracing on the side walls?
Nice barn. I like how to matched up the brick to match the house. (-:
Roger Smith thank you. :)
What's the best way to paint a door like the white one. Yours looks very well done. I have a metal building with one of those doors and I want to paint it but not sure of the best way. Thanks
PoppaJimmy I used rustoleum spray cans. They worked great and have the color I wanted.
@@JohnEngel Thank you. Will try it this weekend. Did you use more than one coat, and did you paint the inside as well?
PoppaJimmy I used two coats and no paint. Just the sealer. It worked out great for me.
Now the HOA knows better, good luck! Nice garage, thanks for posting.
J Whit lol. I’m sure it would have been easier to get them on board from the beginning but they seem to be okay now. :) Thank you again.
Thank you so much. I just did a video on lighting for the shop. Thank you again.
Just a suggestion you could put up s solar light on the garage.

Looks great. My only question is why didn't you rough in the electrical and plumbing to the building.
Electrical is being done now and didn’t really require anything that couldn’t be done later. There is no plumbing in the building so no need to rough that in.
Looks good dude, the prices are reasonable.
Chris Decker thank you.

@@redorestorations9335 they did but they attached the brick by using a ton of metal attaching strips.

Are the doors at least 13.7ft for your RV when you retire?
Or, a Semi Truck car hauler.
LOL They certainly are. :) I like how you are thinking.
LOL
Amazing great job I’m doing a 20x24 one out of concrete and I’m curious if you run electrical how many amps for the sub panel

Thanks!

Yes you can. They can do all types of insulation.

what is that 36 inch centres on the stud walls
I believe that is correct.

LOL Me, Never would I do something like that. ;) Electric is needed badly.
I'm apologize if this has already been answered, but what type paint did you use for the doors? Also, method of application?
It turned out that rustoleum spray paint made it super simple and much easier than a lot of those garage door coating systems. Ask me how I know, I bought one for $100 and it looks like crap.
Thank you so much! I was considering a 40x50 for a few classics, collectables, and storage. I'm terrible at estimating size. Brick looks amazing BTW.
Thank you so much. It was well worth the time and money. Such a great space.
Cheers...
