Shifter . . . a can atest to the going slow, one, little step at-a-time . . . stay focused on one thing, get that, add another little thing . . . too much shuts you down and you get nothing done . . . this works well for me . . . and her approach to managing your emotions is dead on . . . it works . . . if you're waiting to get into the Shift Society, read her book while you wait, "Drive Your Own Darn Bus" . . . great foundation for building a better releationship with life and yourself . . .

  • @chrisdigitalartist
    @chrisdigitalartist 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hi Julia! Shifter here!
I took my notes on this!
    1. To learn how to manage your emotions.
    2. Is being willing and open to learning.
    3. Is letting yourself deeply connect with other human beings.
    4. Is to be willing to listen.
    5. Is to find something or a few things that you really care or passion about.
    6. Is to learn how to be resilient.
I have been working on all of this - so good for me! The Shift Society as well as other sources likes books and other coaching as helped me. The mind management, learning the tools, the community, the hot seats (So I can also listen) and I have my passions - art, music and computers, and I have been resilient because there are many times, I get depressed or discouraged and I do pick myself up again! Thanks Coach!
To anyone reading this, remember always you are all worthy and valued. ❤️

Hi Julia, shifter here. Thanks for another awesome video! I am working by now on all of them. In particular I decided to sign up for a diving course in the summer, actually been always fascinated and mesmerised by fishes but at the same time was really afraid of going in the deep water because of the feel of losing control. Since I am learning to tackle my fears, went for fear of highs first, I re-learned to trust myself. Now I am super excited to learn to dive in Bali❤️

I'm surprised that you didn't mention anything about the song, Tubthumping, by Chumbawamba. "I get knocked down. Then I get up again. You are never gonna keep me down." 🎶 I had to turn this on and let it run in the background as you finished talking. I recommend others doing the same. 😅
I've been working on all of these things already without realising it. It is helpful to see them in a clear and concise list. Thank you. 🙏
Edit: Omg. Check the comments in that Tubthumping music video. So many stories about peoples' struggles on there.

Very well done as always. I feel the one of the root issues with our society is at the core of the first one you talked about. Although I agree if someone says to us "You could have done this better" we need to take a step back and not react, the better question is, why does a simple statement like that have us go from 0-60? Someone says "You could have done better" and what we hear is "You are a loser" or "You suck" like dang....calm down. That is not what they said. I have a firm rule when things get dicey or you feel your emotions crop up: Stick to the facts! The fact is, the person just said they felt you could have done better. Ask why they think that.
Why as a society do we make this crazy jump from "I think you could have done better at this" to "You suck". I don't understand that. BUT - what I do know is you can't say anything to anyone anymore that could even remotely be interpreted as negative. As a society we have collectively decided that it is better to watch someone fail (sometimes with horrible results) than give them a heads up. If I'm at the park with my kids and I see another kid doing something VERY unsafe while their parents are deep in their phone I don't say a word. I will let that kid hurt themselves because if I say "Hey, your kid over there is doing something really unsafe" all that parent hears is "I think your kid is stupid and you are a horrible parent" and they get crazy defensive and sometimes aggressive. What happened to us as a society? My only reasoning for this is most people WANT to be upset. It's kind of like how your true personality will come out when you have been drinking, I think in that exact moment people's filter drops and their most desired emotion comes out which is anger. Do people just want to be angry? I really don't know but I would love any insight on this as I have no idea. Is society kind of losing it a little? Thanks and great video as always.

Hi Julia!!! Came across your channel and I love your content. I was wondering if you (or anyone here) could address a problem I'm having.
One of my best friends just left a relationship of 4 years. He's told stories about how she would basically sit around the house doing nothing all day, she would try to restrict his time out with friends, told him he couldn't hang out with certain people, threatened suicide several times when he tried leaving, etc. Stuff that sounds a lot like emotional or mental abuse. A bunch of us finally convinced him to leave and are now talking him through the breakup and next steps.
I've made the decision to begin having talks with her to hear her side of things; to understand her mindset and why things turned out the way she did. She has a LOT of trauma from her past that she hasn't resolved and frankly I think she would benefit from seeing a real psychiatrist. I want to point her in that direction.
But everyone else in the group thinks I'm making a mistake. They think she is going to try to use me to get back with him (which is of course possible but I know well enough to make sure that doesn't happen). The others are so emotionally invested in this that they actually get angry at me for even reaching out to her. I still feel like the right thing to do is to at least explain to her why it didn't work out and get her the help she needs.
I've always been sort of the counselor of our group, and one of my rules is that I always assume people are telling me the truth until I can find out otherwise. I just want to know whether or not I'm wrong in my approach or if I am making things worse.
Sorry this was such a long message. Thank you!!!

I try to share the greatest news of Salvation through Jesus as much as possible.
Her video topic was ways to make your life better right?
So, what better way than to come to Jesus in humility, like the thief on the cross, and be saved for all Eternity? That’s the greatest peace, the greatest love, the greatest truth, the greatest assurance, the greatest everything!
Nothing this world has to offer will last. All the money and fame and fortune on earth won’t save you or bring you real peace.
      It’s only through Jesus.
The world offers a broad road that’s easy and full of limelights, but only lead to destruction for ever.
God offers, through Jesus, the narrow path, which may be scoffed at and spit on by most. But leads to Everlasting Glory and Life!
