Sound quality was fine, it happens. I had no problems hearing. Great show!!! My uncle has a beautiful white E Type that he has owned as long as I can remember. He drives it, and it's only got 30,000ish miles 😱...insane sound when he starts it up and putts away through the parking lot. Leaves me speechless.

I had a 2.0 liter 914 when I lived in Orange County loved that car wish I had another one learned to drive stick with that car. We shoved a 911 somewhere around 270 horsepower give or take. What a blast! I’ve seen and heard about people putting Subaru WRX engines in 914s.
The Jag is breathtaking. Had. a 77 MGB that had electrical issues and I only drove it during the day, not because of electrical problems but because if it broke down it was easier to get a tow during the day. It always a constant oil leak not a fast car but loved it just the same.
Todd’s wife is going to be gone when he gets home. Love to see more videos like this one.

You have a new subscriber. You just did a review of two of my "I wish" cars. I owned a 914-4 cylinder. It was a 72. Not a whole lot of guts but a whole lot of fun.
The E Type Jaguar has always been my dream car. I first saw one at age 12(1962). I was totally enthralled. I just stood there and stared at it for half an hour.

I love the 914. I don’t care what anyone says about them. It was my first introduction into Porsche. Not fast but they are so much fun.
Chopping off 2” off the top was a mistake though. Should have left it alone. Putting a flat 6 into it turns it into a 914/6 which they actually made for a couple of years and are very rare.

I need both of them, two of my favorite cars. I managed to find a 914 about 18 months ago. It took me about 6 months to do the bodywork and paint. I had to completely rebuild every part of the brakes, the poor wiring harness had been butchered, that took a few weekends to sort out. Covid and the long brutal summer stopped most progress till about to 2 months ago. Yesterday was the first day I was able to drive it more than up and down the block. A 914 is a wonderful little car. One day I will find an affordable E type to go with it. I have wanted an E type since I was 10 years old.

If you think that 914 is great you should try one with door handles and a normal height roof. And the 914s original door handle execution is one of the cleanest and most functional of any car ever anyway.
And another thing: I'm 6'4 and I can fit in my little 914-4 sitting straight up with my helmet on since I removed the seat padding.

When I was a little kid, my grandfather went through a post-retirement sports car phase. The last one was a 1963 E-type coupe. Eight year old me didn't appreciate sex on wheels but I knew that thing was just stunning. Reliability was godawful, but damn when it was working that car was heaven.
And I'm a fan of hard-core sports cars, but that Canepa 914 is just a little too hair-shirt. Makes an Elise look like a practical everyday car.

I love clean esthetics as much as the next guy. However, not having door handles or side mirrors... that's pushing it. I do love the toggle switches but you couldn't label them right on the console??? Also, no vents?!
Sorry.. the stock vehicles are pretty well compromised as it is.. these are just changing things because they can. Kudos to the actual owners of these vehicles (when they were privately owned).
Between the 2, the Jag by a landslide. Despite the fact it still has all its wrong quarks (won't shift right and it eats batteries everytime you take it out?!?! )
    Happy New Year!!

  • @messix7768
    @messix7768 3 ปีที่แล้ว

as a 15+ year owner and driver of a 914 , the car can fit drivers 6ft ish with stock seats, it does have a split personality with being a beast on tight twisty roads and able to be a long distance high speed cruiser that can be driven with one finger on the wheel. and us "teener" owners refer to 911's as donor cars. the 914 is a superior car over the 911.

Not to be Mr. Negativity but back in the day the only 914 that had any value was the 914-6 and even that was at the bottom of the list for Porschephiles. I always thought the E-type was a car that looked best without a driver. The low design of the car makes the addition of a driver result in a dog sitting on a skateboard look. Usually with the drivers head sticking up awkwardly over the windshield. I would still happily take either though....

I could have bought a 914 back in the 80s but I thought i wanted a 924, mom overruled and I ended up with an accord, biggest mistake of my life! Nest to getting rid of my 67 grand prix to get the next car!

I just don't get the E-type and why it's "the most beautiful car ever produced". I much prefer the XJS from a visual standpoint.
The 914 was butt ugly as produced, but when you tart them up they look fantastic.
