Thank you for actually mentioning the lack of a physical sim slot as a "PROBLEM." Many people just don't understand how inconvenient this is when traveling. All US reviewers just simply gloss over it. That was a deal breaker for me.
Most Americans don’t travel internationally, so the majority don’t understand why physical SIM is a big deal. IMHO Apple removed the tray to prevent cheaper US iPhones from being exported informally to other countries.
Atleast in Qatar it's not a problem at all. I can move my sim from one device to another without any support within a minute. Never encounter those rare situations which people quote as a problem arising due to esims.
People like feeling like they’re apart of something bigger than themselves. It’s understandable. I like to think apple has my best interests at heart lol
I think it's more about the ecosystem and us as users believing one "way" of doing phone OS and hardware is superior to the other. Chances are, if you have an android phone you're buying an android tablet, using Google Messages & other apps (chrome, Gmail, etc). It's not brand loyalty, it's a stance on how we interact with our most used tech daily. (That being said I'm switching back to iPhone after 8 years on Android 😅 Apple. Intelligence has a far superior trajectory than Google's AI).
I switched from an iPhone XR to an S22 Ultra. I never had more than one Apple product at once, so I was never in their ecosystem. Honestly, Samsung's transfer software makes switching from iOS ridiculously easy. The only real pain point was getting people I know to re-setup their iMessage contacts to use my phone number instead of my iCloud account. Otherwise it's been smooth sailing and loving the new phone. There's almost nothing I miss from my old phone (other than the physical mute switch) and my new one continuously surprises me with all the stuff it can do and customize.
@@rythmater Meh, you can disable apps you don't want, like Bixby, and they disappear on samsung. They're still there technically but they don't run in the background or anything
@Manlet Eater the best phone I ever owned was the one plus 7t pro McLaren stock android no holes or notches 12gb ram and 256gb storage 1440p screen and a mute switch just for the cherry on top it was the best and is the reason why I don't mess with Samsung or pixel aka Google
I’m very interested to hear your take on the iPhone the more you use it. I really appreciate XDA. It is great to see them cover more operating systems.
Thanks for this video, best one I've seen that addresses this topic, very thorough. I also just switched to an iPhone Pro after over a decade of exclusive Android use, back to the original Motorola Droid. If there were a smaller Pixel Pro this decision would've been harder.
Pixel Phones Suck! Actually, the last three Android phones I"ve had have all had something wrong with them, but the Pixel takes the cake. Its riddled with bugs and I hate using it. Its uncomfortable to use. I've never considered an iPhone until now.
Why I choose android over I Phone. 1. File Manager/Open File system. 2. File Transfer possiblity 3. Third party apps. 4. Extendable Storage. 5. Apps and services are cheaper. 6. Cheaper to maintain and service.
I wound up with an iphone 13 pro after having data\modem issues with a pixel 6 like many others, and while I didn't hate it, managing things like notifications and navigation just annoyed me. I took a chance with the pixel 7 due to generous trade-in deals for the pixel 6, and I'm glad I did. No data issues, great battery life and quality feel. While the iphone is a great bit of hardware, the software side left me unimpressed. Also Android Auto is so much better than car play IMO.
I agree. I have an iPhone 13 and have been thinking about going back to Android. IPhone is actually less user friendly. Theres several things that I don’t like.
I am in the same boat as you. Am switching to iphone 14 pro max after 10+ years of being an android user. My main reasons are better accessory support, and access to the Apple Watch. I also already have an ipad and macbook pro, so I am going full ecosystem. IOS now has enough customization options to justify the switch.
Same boat as you. Switched early last year with a 12 Pro Max but I just wasn’t ready. Went right back to Samsung. This year the 14 Pro Max just felt newer and the freedom of more customization made this switch a lot easier. Paired with the Apple Watch and AirPods I don’t see myself going back to Android.
Like you, I'm a long time Android user. The last time I had an iphone was in 2011. My main motivator for the switch was wanting to to use the iphone's cameras. The display is also quiet beautiful. In terms of OS functionality, I do miss the more customizable Android, and I also agree with you that iOS seems to be steering the user more into its own ecosystem. I still feel like Android is the more functional OS for me, but I can (re)learn a new OS.
I was strictly Android since the HTC Dream/T-Mobile G1, up until a few months ago. I also now use an iPhone 13 Pro Max. I feel like I need to have both Android and Apple in today's mobile tech world. Certain things the iPhone does much better than Android, and vice versa. Besides, it only makes iOS and Android better for all when they compete.
I had never used iphones before and made the switch from a s21 ultra to the 14 pro max and if it weren’t for the one thousand dollars tmobile gave me for my old phone I would have returned it already. I miss t9 dialer, youtube pip, google maps pip, 2 app multitasking, a proper notification area, camera zoom that could even zoom in on the moon, s-pen, double tap power button for camera, fingerprint unlock, better signal quality for tmobile, all my apps that don’t exist here, 5 across on dock 6x5 on home screen, strong flash, strong flashlight, usb c, fast charging, google assistant, voice activated camera, gesture activated camera, a dialer that doesn’t integrate whastapp, better copy and paste, better selecting phone numbers, seeing what number called me instead of just seeing contacts name when multiple numbers,
Dude you just saved me! I'm a long time pixel user since the first generation. I was debating on getting the pixel 7 or the iPhone 14. All those things you mentioned I thought an iPhone would do ! Little things like that make android great! I'm definitely going with the Pixel 7.
Nice breakdown. I appreciate you taking the time to list everything. I'm trying to weight it all myself right now, Pixel vs, iPhone. I would probably stay Android with Pixel if I didn't need to be familiar with iPhone for work purposes. My main complaint on iPhone is the notification system. Selecting text to copy or edit is also really bad. So much easier on Android. And yes the call log / history isn't great. I love how Google does a reverse lookup on any number you call (mainly businesses) so you can then have caller ID name & number for any outbound calls you make that aren't saved contacts. Call screening is nice as well. The more I type this the more I want to put my sim back into my Pixel.
If you get a Chinese rom or Indian rom android. You can have inbuilt call recording feature in your phone app. Also on iphones you can only scroll on screenshots in Web browsers. On android u can screenshot and scroll for larger images.
I watched (and enjoyed) this video because I've only ever used Android and have always been happy with my experience; especially since switching to a Pixel 5. With the Pixel watch and upcoming Pixel tablet, Google seems to FINALLY be catching up to Apple so I know there's more I'll be able to enjoy if I stick with Android. The problem is, I'm the only person I know (save one or two) that actually uses android - everyone else in my life is on iOS and I'm beginning to feel like an outsider. There's just so much more to enjoy when communicating in the same ecosystem.
@@cnovalles73 How's your experience been so far? Do you regret it or not? What do you miss from Android and what do you prefer over Android? I'm currently thinking of getting a new phone, maybe an iPhone, as my current Samsung is having heating, perfromance and stability issues.
@@lxnd I made the switch to Apple shortly after I posted that comment and I honestly still miss Android but I think it's because it was the first and only OS that I ever used and did so for 12 years across a variety of phones. I was there for all the "growing pains" as it developed over time and left JUST as Google was finally getting their formula right with the Pixel lineup between the Pixel 7, Pixel watch and tablet. No, none of them are as refined as their Apple counterparts and that "second to none" ecosystem but they're great options for the everyday needs of most people. I literally have ONE person in my life still on Android and I took a deep plunge because I got the iPad Air and Apple watch SE so there's (most likely) NO going back now that I'm neck deep in their ecosystem. 🤷🏻♂️
Most of the times, when I decide to switch from one OS to other is mainly because I get bored and I kinda want to try something "new" (even when at this point both OS are really polished). There's a bit of fun in that! I used to be an Android guy, but switch to iOS when the iPhone X was announced. In the process, I got the chance to try the Samsung S20 Ultra, S21 Ultra, and now back to an iPhone 14 Pro Max, and since I use an iPad to draw and make musical drafts, AirDrop has been pretty useful. Let's see how it goes!
My last two Samsungs (Note 9 and S21+) both eventually turned me to iOS again. Cameras were the main issue, but lots of other annoyances like third party launchers messing with gesture control, all the samsung app bloat, etc. Then iOS drove me nuts and I'm finally back in the Pixel fam.
The problem with AirDrop is it's too damn slow for transferring files. I can connect a USB-C cable to my Pixel 7 Pro and PC and transfer my entire phone before AirDrop would transfer two large video files.
@@NOLATechy I think we need to wait on iPhone 15 pro with usb c. that's why I have never gone to iPhone unless they change from lightening cable to usb c
Hey the issue I have with these videos which I love by the way, is that unless it's a long term review, all the exiting features and overall experience is steeped in novelty. This is why nearly every video of someone who switches from Apple to Android and vise verse is the same in terms of it being a brilliant refreshing experience. I love these videos but I would genuinely like to know what a hardcore apple fanboy thinks of a s23u or Pickle 7 pro after a year, same for someone switching to Apple too
Alex, I love how you went through and reviewed the entire device. It’s been a while since I’ve seen someone do such an amazing job I’ve been watching your videos for mini mini years. I have been an avid iPhone and android user almost continuously since the first iPhone I always had an android device, I’ve always heavily lean towards iOS but I love the curiosity of the differences between vanilla android on the pixel and the Nexus line. Thanks for the video. Keep up the good work.
I tried this last year as I changed industries and got an iPad pro and iPhone 13 Pro, really tried to love it but never did and constantly felt restricted and caged. Even when they finally gave features that all other devices have they were always slightly less capable, but sure for about 80% of people they probably prefer this, switched back to Google phone
every time i switch to android i remember why i always go back to apple: the lag. it happens time and time again with every single android i've ever purchased.
PIP for TH-cam premium does work. I’m not too phased about the always on screen being completely black or showing the background. One perk of it showing the background is that my fingerprint smudges are less noticeable.
Switched from Huawei P30 Pro to iPhone 14 Pro, basically to conclude that the P30 Pro is ridiculously good, especially considering it's almost 4 year old technology. The main reason I bought the P30 Pro was the camera unit. I had the Fuji XT-system but wanted something smaller for my travels. And boy, the P30 Pro delivered BIG time, especially when you pushed the boundaries (low light, and not even using the famous night mode). It was a breeze to use and had the best and most consistent battery life I ever experienced, and fast charging. So far, I see that the 14 Pro has really good software, fantastic battery life, and Face ID is just brilliant. Cameras are great in daylight, but I expected too much of it in harder circumstances. It sort of squeezes everything out of its cameras by using pretty advanced and agressive software, at the cost of transparency. And tele? 2x and 3x zoom, come on... I somehow really wanted to be more impressed hardware wise, especially for 1460 euros (256GB). Might consider something from Google or Xiaomi, just to see what it's like.
@@HABO2210 it really is a shame the US killed of Huawei. The P30 was absolut killer. P40 hardware was crazy too but it got ignored since it no longer hat Google Services
Gonna miss my Huawei! Moved to the US so I can't get another one. I'm so unenthused by Samsung so I'm tossing between oneplus 10 pro and an iphone pro. I'm curious about iphones, wish I could just play with one for a week to feel it out.
Huawei camera softwares are really great in my opinion. My 5 year old Huawei P10 still takes better photos (and videos) in low light than my newer Samsung phone.
I've also just switched to a 14 pro after my last iPhone being the 3Gs. I made the switch because I was really impressed with my macbook air M1 (I've been a life long windows users for laptops), apple silicon and was after a more consistent camera system. Glad I made the switch thus far.
How is your experience after 9 months? I'm planning to buy a new phone soon, and now that I ordered an iPad because it's more compatible with what I need for school (AirDrop with other iPads, AirPlay, iOS Apps,...), I'm seriously considering an iPhone. The iPad hasn't arrived yet so I can't say whether I'm a fan of iOS yet, but how has your experience been? What do you miss from Android and what do you prefer over Android?
@@lxnd It's been good. I find everything just "works" e.g. seamless integration with my MacBook and other Apple devices. Things like Bluetooth just seem better too. The device just feels more premium too - build quality, speakers, camera quality, screen etc. The things I'm not a fan of are : - Lightning cable rather than usb-c, but apparently that's changing with the 15 - Stingy iCloud allowance - you get 5GB free which after your phone backup is on there doesn't leave much room for other stuff. Google gives you 15GB for comparison. You have to pay a monthly fee for more with apple. The keyboard - it just sucks. I've installed gboard on this phone. No "silent" mode. I always had silent on my android so I would still get notifications but just no vibration or sound. iOS doesn't have that - the closest I've got it a personalised "focus" setting (basically do not disturb) but it's not quite the same. Things that feel pretty much the same: Battery life - nothing special on this phone compared to my old one, even with the efficient chip - however it might be down to the fact that this phone is just higher spec My advise would be to wait for the 15 pro if you can afford it. I'll likely be getting it when it comes out too
@@auralplex Thanks! I ended up getting the iPhone 13, it's been the best decision I've made in a while. Better than my S21 in almost every way. iOS is also great, I'm starting to love it
@@auralplexLOL how in the fuck? I used an iPhone 12 for 2 weeks and it seemed like iOS is from the dark ages. No universal back gesture is absolutely painful, app settings are not in the app, but in a giant settings menu, notifications can only be opened from the very top, can't position things on the home screen the way I want them etc. Such a clunky weird operating system... OneUI is gorgeous compared to iOS.
Didn't expect XDA to put out a video with a title like this. LOL The first reaction when I read the title was "Gosh, who's it this time?" and then came to know that it was XDA. DAMN!
The thing I love about the 13 pro max is if I forget to plug it in (at least with my usage), I can make it through the next day just fine. I’d start the day with around 50% and end it with 20% on the second day

I switched to iPhone this year as well. The system is so so very well optimised and extremely convenient to use. I get 12 hour of SOT with my 13 Pro Max which is unheard of in any Android flagship. The system is so optimised I don’t have to worry which setting to meddle which app to disable. I got 12 hour of SOT with 120hz, raise to wake, GPS, bluetooth and automatic screen brightness all turned on at all time. Cameras are seriously good. Its point and shoot and forget. The videos are far ahead of any android especially in terms of jittering when panning, smoothness and quality of all lenses. All lenses are of similarly high quality so no different when you zoom in. Build quality is on another level.
Also listen to the speakers. The sound on the iphone is like way more rich and deep. Amazing speaker sound as well. Call quality is also better IMO since the speakers are far more clear

@@Babun13 everyone in the comments talks so highly let me show you my experience with a 13 for not even a year. To me other than the battery life. Way worse than android. You need subscriptions after subscriptions to have music or anything of use. Music also sounds way better through headphones on android iPhone doesn’t have the same audio driver quality. Emulators although they run really well on apple products are more of a hassle. Altstore is a thing but you need a mac or some luck with a windows pc to even activate that. Certain things like the way typing is also better on android. Safari sucks and even tho chrome is on iPhone it’s just a skin since apple doesn’t want any other browsers truly independent. For me the service has been worse than android and iPhones having the highest amount of radiation which interferes with cellular reception as well as being toxic oddly google pixel is another offender and Samsungs have some of the lowest amounts of radiation which is also why the reception tends to be pretty good. I can go on and on though. I’m going back to android and unless the tsmc snapdragons don’t help battery and the battery is way more terrible is the only way I’d come back to iPhone and that would be a huge maybe.

The only thing it truly has over is social media optimization which is starting to improve on android and battery life. But tsmc making the chips will help android a lot for that. It's basically the same story for me. My first and so far last iPhone was the 3GS and I've been a Mac user for the past 10 years or so. In the Android world I used so far the Nexus 4 and Nexus 5 and a OnePlus 6T. Google assistant is great and I do cast a lot too but for some reason I wanted to switch back for some time to try something new. I intend to keep my OnePlus 6T on my second Sim card and use an iPhone 14 Pro Max. One of the many reasons is to get an update at the tike of release and a flagship phone. On Android I've got too much choice and that's killing me. I like both but as you said Alex it's a nice change. Once I can get my hand on an iPhone I'll make the switch.
I switched from a Pixel 6 to the iPhone 13 mini in February of this year. Literally the first time using iPhone. The transition, like you pointed out, was very tedious and annoying. After that was out of the way though, it has been a decent experience. The main reason I switched was because I couldn't stand the amount of bugs the Pixel 6 had when it came to things like the fingerprint sensor not working, random network drops, WiFi not working on occasion... Now after using iPhone for a fair amount of time, I'm switching back to Pixel 7 and probably won't switch back to iPhone. There are too many things I miss. One of the most major ones is call screening on Pixel. I also have a large music library of old CDs that I'd ripped which are very annoying to transfer to iPhone and it seemed to throw up region errors for me which made no sense since I literally own the files. Another issue has been downloading PDF documents from any browser besides Safari. My everyday work requires me to occasionally download documents to read on my phone and I found this to be very annoying when using Chrome on iOS. The notification management is also pretty bad with old notifications seemingly staying forever even though they have been dealt with. In general, it's not a terrible experience, but I feel quite cheated considering I paid more for the iPhone 13 mini than my Pixel 6 but still somehow got a worse experience. Also, the iPhone seems to randomly switch from WiFi to cellular which doesn't happen on my wife's Pixel in the same house. Overall, I don't think iPhones are as refined as they are touted to be with Android simply providing well thought out features and better overall UX.
Change from wifi ti cellular data is an option on iPhone, its meant for smooth internet experience in case your wifi stops working or your out of range for wifi but are in middle of using internet.
Mate I’ve been using iPhone for years and I just decided to switch to android pixel 7 because iPhone doesn’t bring anything good since iPhone 11 Pro Max … plp only talk about cameras and batteries, but androids offer more than that
you can choose how notifications are displayed on the lock screen , and u can add a notification summary at any interval you want , do not forget the custom focuses you can set too that will change everything from your apple watch to your iPhone set up depending on the focus. if you wanted awesome battery life you need either to switch to IOS public beta 16.1 beta 5 gives you a bit more battery , and the Pro max is the best choice for this. ( but an anker magsafe battery pack will do the trick if needed )
@@Cuenowine1907 yeah i fell you i toughs the same, but as you may know Face ID can track your eyes and unlock when u look at the camera, imagine that you just want to peak at the always on for notifications, the phone would unlock and brought you to home screen, without letting you interact with notifications or live activities, i think it has been a choice made by Apple in this case, and for me it makes sense now. but i aced myself the same questions at first...
I just switched from OnePlus to iPhone as well.. so far so good. The user experience is a lot better than OnePlus imo. (and the aftersales service is night and day.)
It baffles me when people don't use a case and/or screen protector on their smart phones. It is not a matter of if but when your phone will start getting dings or worse.
As a long term Apple user I could understand him. I went from the iPhone 7 plus to the Pixel 7 and after one month back to a refurbished SE 2020. Android is interesting. The camera fantastic, the display outstanding, Googles software experience is fantastic, especially GBoard but the third party app quality was so bad for me. Instagram is terrible on Android, Virtuagym wasn‘t working properly, my broker app crashed constantly and so on. I wanted to love Android, but I enjoy a 3 year old device, that looks like it comes straight out of 2015 more than a modern Android phone. I think if you use apps that work Android is fantastic, but for me it will be another threeish years on iOS. Fantastic video
Long term android user here (as in had android all my life since my first phone). Just switched to iphone 14 pro for the first time since im not exactly loyal to any brand like a lot of people these days. Not a single regret. I switched from the pixel 6 and i can def see what youre talking about with the 3rd party apps. Ios is just a heaps smoother experience
These are issues more because of your app developer not being a very good one. It's 2023 after all, there's no excuses for not having working native apps. Blame your developer.
@@anmol3457The developer cannot customize each and every app for the hundreds of android phone models that exist. With iOS, all iPhones use the same GUI so they only have to make one version. Apple is strict with their apps and requires a certain level of quality that Google does not require. The Apple experience is that of an extremely refined and smooth process. Everything looks amazing and works well and there are virtually no glitches. Android always will be a step behind because the software and hardware are made by different companies and the OS can never be perfectly optimized to the hardware. That is why iPhones have smaller batteries but almost always last longer than Android phones with bigger batteries. Apple understands that balance is important. Android phones aren’t bad, they typically have 1 or 2 standout features, but are mediocre in everything else. With iPhones, you mostly get it all… you feel the refinement when you use it, and unless you have used an iPhone, you wouldn’t know.
@@auralplex 1. I have used iphones. I have family and friends who have iPhones. The part about having no glitches is fairly similar across both ios and android. You're overstating the gulf in quality. 2. iPhones in this day and age rarely have significantly more battery life than your similarly priced android. That's not true anymore (if it ever was). In fact there are even cheaper androids that have better battery lives than iPhones. I get what you're meaning to say about the 'refinement' of iPhones, but buy a half decent Android and the experience will be very similar.

I also switched early last year to the iPhone 13 Pro Max. I had a Galaxy S21 Ultra before that, S20 before that, and had the Galaxy Note 8, 5, 4, and 3. I do miss from Android the keyboards, slightly better customization, and I miss the x10 camera from the S21 Ultra. Hoping the iPhone 15 Pro brings a periscope camera, at least x6 but preferably x8-10. Really appreciate the security updates being handled by Apple as with Android occasionally T-Mobile/Verizon/AT&T didn’t provide the final updates to my phone because they didn’t have enough users.
I also have the s21 ultra. Looking at the steps you took, Android to Apple, would you recommend going to Apple after over 10 years with Android? I'm debating going to the 14 pro max only to see what the Apple has to offer from over 10 years ago. My last iPhone was the 3gs.

Alright so I purchased the 14 pro max. After 4 days I had to return it. It felt like a downgrade. The phone isint as good as a top tier Samsung or Android. The iphone feels like its stuck 5 years behind. Everything was just mediocre. Always on display seemed to work when it felt like it, the applications like twitch and tiktok were sluggish and the dynamic island ruined every single video. Made me realize that Apple does a great job with marketing their products, and that's how they sell. I will never purchase another apple phone ever.
I switch back and forth every 6 months or so. Both platforms have their pros and cons and I can't really say one is better than the other. I tend to really get bored of Apple and want excitement then I find things like apps I miss when I'm back on Android. So I switch back and so on and so on!
You must be single as I tried switching over to Android just to find out that location tracking via Google Maps was abysmal of iOS devices. Sometimes it worked, but most of the time it did not. So for convenience of us all I am back on iOS bandwagon. And I intend to stay there barring some catastrophe.
I switched to iPhone 13 Pro this year. First iPhone after 10/11 years with android. I still keep my Samsung Note 10 Lite with me since I can’t ditch the S-Pen. We got the same pains. The Android notifications are executed better than iOS. I miss atuff like being able to reply to a message straight from the notification or deleting a marketing email I’m not even interested in reading. I thought the lack of the nav buttons will make the transition difficult, but it did not. Gestures on the iOS works smoothly, although for some reason I can’t get used to gestures on Android phones. It’s not even a month since I got this phone. I can’t say I can fully transition to iOS, but what I can noticed is that I’m slowly doing it, preferring to pick up the iPhone over Samsung to scroll through socials.
Long time iPhoner here who has enjoyed affairs with Android and ALMOST went Pixel 7 pro but ultimately went for the 14 pro to finally upgrade from my aging iPX, your perspective coming from Android is really helpful in reinforcing my purchase choice
I switched to pixel 7 and I'm blown away With pixel 8 comming soon I predict some new features Will come to model 7 cose Apple is software company that gamekeeps users to buy more and more new things instantly Maby when I get grow up I will swap back to Apple but hopefuly I Will be able to have both But in the end it's really not big deal and all is good in their own way, it's really a preference
I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Currently using the Fold 3, but I'm over it. I'm tired of opening and closing this thing all day, and the battery being at 20% by lunch time.
Good video 👍 I knew there would be at least one person out there that Apple would be able to convince to convert 😉. Looking forward to your back to Android vid😂 Cheers
My main reason for switching to iOS some five years ago was my android phones kept giving out on me in like 2 years or less. Plus with apple there’s little to no bloatware
Even system apps can be uninstalled using adb, no root needed, i don't know what you do with your phone, if my 200$ budget phone i bought 4 years ago is still alive and kicking, even battery capacity is at around 75% of what i had in the beginning.
I’m going the other way. Using an iPhone for over a year and frustrated by the lack of good e reader, calculator, video players. It’s lack of split screen, it’s poor implementation of ringer and alarm volume ( Not being able to seperate the volume levels leaves me with either an Alarm thats too loud or a ringer that’s too soft)
@@arpsichord7474 Any time I pick up any android phone there is some visual inconsistency in animationfluidity that instantly kills my interest in it. Maybe im too sensitive but its just how it is.
Apple is just too "closed" an ecosystem for me. And I don't believe "security" is the main reason for this. If Apple were really serious about "security", they would incorporate RCS into iMessage to allow end-to-end encryption for ALL text messages, not just Apple to Apple devices. Converting text messages to SMS/MMS (which is not encrypted) subjects users to possible hacking, especially when it comes to Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) codes. Apple knows this, but refused to do anything about it because, at their own admittance, "it would hurt iPhone sales." This statement shows EXACTLY where Apple's priorities reside, and it's not with "security!"
@@D3nn1s_NL By "closed" I mean that Apple does not allow you to run their software on anything but Apple devices and Apple related websites. For example, you can't run iMessage on a Windows PC or Chromebook without jumping through 3rd party software hoops. You can't build your own MacBook and install MacOS on it. You can't install iPad OS on any other tablet except a legitimate Apple iPad. You can't install iOS or any Apple apps on any phone other than an iPhone. That is what I mean by "closed" ecosystem.
The best part about Apple devices that is rarely mentioned is, resale value. Pay $699 for a brand new iPhone and sell it for $300 3 years later. You can’t beat that value.
I recently bought the Apple Watch which came with an iPhone. I’m planning to switch back to the Galaxy S23U. Apple Car Play is just horrible. Siri only supports one language, the iOS version on gboard is a nightmare to use. The lack of the edge gestures that are available as an optional app on One UI is really killing it for me. The only good thing is the Apple Watch.
Interesting transition story; I have had many Apple products over the years, but always use Android phones. The ability control and design my own user interface is so much more rich on Android - the benifit of using iPhones simply isn't there at the moment....
90% of the time im using a 3rd party app on my android phone. 3rd party apps from the playstore is just not as good from iOS. - iPhone HDR videos are still ahead than the competitors - Main camera is very consistent with image quality and shutter speed
@@47crazed android's camera is far better than iphone's and we can download 3rd party apps from other sources as well..Also most of the third party apps are shared between the platforms and play store has more of them. Literally man Android is based on linux kernel..
There's literally nothing that would make me switch to iPhone. Apple in general is a close-minded company only looking for money, without any innovation or customer-centric view. They literally make you use only their products and purposefully make them incompatible with other products or just make the whole process a pain. It's sad that people are still following them blindly without turning on their brain at all, but oh well. To each their own.
I never understood why grown-ass adults praise Android’s customization. Don’t y’all have jobs and lives? I really couldn’t care less about customizing every minor detail about my lock screen and home screen. With iPhone, I just take it out, click the app I want, and start using it.
@@arpsichord7474 We just want to iMessage friends okay. I know that concept is hard to understand for y’all. It works so well with all my other devices and isn’t ugly and clunky. It just works. Technology is a tool that allows me to get things done quickly. I font wanna fiddle around with bs
I switched to iPhone 14 pro also in November 22, then sold it and went back to Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, as during my iPhone time I also kept my Galaxy note 9 which was 4 years older, I kept reaching for the old Note 9, the iPhone just couldn't do the same. I'm not saying iPhone is bad because it's not, it just can't do a lot of what Samsung Androids can.
Switching to iOS brought peace of mind and less tracking, battery life wasn’t the best on the 2022 SE but all in all I would not go back, I’m still saving for an unlocked boot loader android so I can go back to building my own android( used to do that a lot during the Cyanogenmod days 😅)

I'm about to switch to iPhone 14 Pro from Android purely because of LiDAR. I do often find that features with apps are "iOS only" so am interested to see what more will change by moving to Apple. Also interested to see how long the phone will last and whether I'll go back to Android for the next phone.
Thought I was the only person switching just purely because od LiDAR lol, will hopefully be getting an iPhone 14 pro within the next few days. I'm replying to this a bit late so I'm guessing you've already got your iPhone, if so how is it?
@@Actually_saif The switch to Apple has been reasonably painless. I have not used the LIDAR as much as I’d intended. I’ve since found that photogrammetry is giving an amazing result.
How's your experience been so far? I'm currently thinking of switching from my S21 to an iPhone 13 Pro. What do you miss most from Android? And What do you love about iOS?
@@lxnd I've never been a fan of Samsung, always had Android phones that run a less modified version of Android and so tend to keep more up to date. iOS now has many of the features of the latest version of Android but also the standardised hardware that means better support for things like photogrammetry and motion capture which are the things I'm interested in learning.
The only iPhone that was ever minimally interesting and compelling was the Mini. For oversized phones without basic features, there's a ton of Android phones that offer much more compelling experiences.
lmao its funny you just descriebed me, i have the 12 mini, i tried the 14 pro fro two weeks, took it back. hated the size, the 12 mini has good enough everything for me except battery life and the size is perfect, im looking at getting a sony or pixel 7 pro now to finally go back to android, but like honetsly, the mini iphones are gold. zenphone 9 is small but cameras are shitehouse.
I've used both iphone at work and Android for my personal use and I still will choose android over ios everytime. I switched over to the Google Pixel 7 pro from the Samsung S22 ultra
@@joaogabrielsapiateixeira9248 I've used Samsung phones for years & the S22 is a great phone but I don't really use all of it's quirks and features that much at all. The pixel 7 has the features that I can really use and it's actually smarter than other phones which was a big plus for me in choosing the pixel.
Same for me. iOS works but 1/ Not a real Always On Display 2/ No Split Screen so no multi-tasking 3/ No Dual App mode to separate Pro and Personnal account for the same app 4/ Back gesture on Iphone is useless contrary on Android 5/ You can't place your icon wherever you want on your homescreen and you can't creat additionnal homescreen easily 6/ No app on both iOS/Windows to connect my iPhone to my Windows Pc
Pixel 6 for example was absolute rubbish and loses value fast. It crashed alot. Missing calls. Drops calls etc. S22 ultra is what I have and it has been fantastic . I use iOS and Android and when I do use Android Samsung will always be superior
@@robertadas4451 I've used Samsung phones eversince the Note 1 came out so I know what I'm saying. It's not always which phone has the best or fastest hardware & that is all useless if you can't even tune it to work with the hardware. The S22 ultra still lags even if it has the best & powerful hardware built in. The Pixel 7pro I am using is buttery smooth and performs great even without using the best and fastest chip around
Same here used android for over 10 years rooted and messed around with them (heavy android user) sold my soul and bought the iPhone was tired of half baked battery life and reliablity. Got to say I'm not dissapointed when i thought i would be! get the watch and whole ecosystem worth the trade off. Build quality is better then any android phone i've had always had flagships too.
I switched to iPhone 14 Pro from a Google Pixel 4. I had a lot of hardware and software bugs over the course of my ownership. Things went smoothly, i even purchaised airpods pro, which are amazing, and an apple watch which has helped transform my health and reverse a disease i was suffering from. Things I miss: side loading, Google Assistant (I still have it as an app), notifications (got used to apple's, but prefer androids), and alternative browser engines like Chromium (all browsers on iPhone have to use Safari's Webkit which isn't as widlely supported. Overall, I'm happy and plan on sticking with apple for the forseable future.
Fantastic video. Exactly what I wanted. I really like iPhone 14 Pro as a phone, it's almost perfect but the whole headache of moving my apps over there and then leaving behind my Google and Chrome integration... I might go with pixel 7.
I'm in the same boat. Been on Android but for me, the last 9 years. Was actually waiting to upgrade my S21 Ultra to the S23U, but caved and decided to give Apple another try with the 14 Pro Max after a 9-year absence. I've been thoroughly pleased with the phone and experience so far and honestly, the only real thing I miss from Android is the ability to set individual volume levels (notifications, alarms, ringer, media, etc). The main two things that stand out for me, are the shocking level of control you have on iPhones. I was able to or had the ability to, delete or disable almost all of the stock apple apps/features, something you can't do on Android with stock Android apps/features. This was hilarious to me as Apple for the longest time had you pretty locked down on what you could and couldn't do. whereas Android was known for its control and customization aspect. Seems as though we're going through a role reversal. The other is the overall look and feel. Android to me over the last 3-4 versions has become this boring dull interface with flat, vibrant, primary color icons with no real design or complexity. I may be the minority here, but it feels too kiddy/cartoonish and basic at times. Whereas iOS 16 (at least) has a more refined and polished feel. Again, another role reversal.
I also have the S21 Ultra and I'm also planning to switch to the 14 Pro Max. This is probably the only Android which I regret buying. It just heats up so much especially in tasks which involves the camera like video calls. Should I just go for it?
I was the same way I had android phones for a long time with Samsung s10 and lg v60. I switched to the iPhone 14 pro max, it was a huge difference for me. I got bored overtime with the customization on the android phones I had and was always curious about the iPhone and iOS. I have been very pleased with the responsiveness, Face ID, and how it’s so much more convenient for me. My battery life has been amazing compared to the older android phones I had.
I love android. I absolutely love the freedom of cutomibility of stock android. However I go back to iOS because as cliche as it sounds “it just works”. It's simple to use. I do consider myself more of a fan of android though. What if google and apple teamed up? Simple os combined with freedom and powerful processor
I understand that you said you missed things on Android, but things you missed on android was a mix of five phones. The iPhone is only one phone that is being compared to multiple phones if that makes sense. Love the video.
@@Variable_Degree_Series My last Android phones was a Note 10 and then a Samsung g S20+ before I switched to an IPhone. Hope that answers your question. He mentioned 5 phones at the end that all had its own particular feature. That’s it. That is all I saying.
Great video! I loved the detail you put into it and made it so intelligently without any waffling anywhere. I’m an android user of the Galaxy note series and now the s23 ultra. I started out with the first iPhone and switched when the note came out with its 3rd iteration. I’m thinking about switching to the incoming iPhone 15 promax/ultra since I’m a heavy social media user and iPhone apps are much more improved/sophisticated than Android. The only thing I’ll be missing in the iPhone will be the innovative themes which completely change the phone’s outlook and the pinching small and large text capabilities of the messaging app. iPhone so far hasn’t provided any material change in those departments. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks again for such an educational video.
I've only dailied Android and one Windows Phone for the whole time I've had a smartphone (about 10+ years). The thing that's drawing me into iPhone now is the fact that I've never been able to keep an Android for longer than 2 years without lag, problems, glitches, and no support from the manufacturer. I've got a 2016 iPhone SE that I bought second hand 3 years ago for $120 that was supported until the end of iOS 15 and 7 years later, it somehow runs smoother, better, and much more reliably than any of my Android phones, including my 2019 LG G8X ThinQ Dual Screen! I've heard that you can get 8 years out of iPhone and being on year 7 with a budget one that's more functional than even my current Moto G Stylus 5G 2022 (which runs like crap btw) is absolutely ridiculous! I just can't justify buying an Android anymore because I want good performance, but all the good flagships cost the same as flagship iPhones but with Android, you're getting 2 maybe up to 4 years of life out of it if you're lucky. If I'm spending flagship money, I want to keep that thing as long as possible and have it work as smoothly as it did new when it's 5, 6, 7+ years down the line
Bruh... you're talking about the company that literally got caught and fined for slowing down older phone with software updates... lol! Maybe buy an Android flagship.
Yeah, my IPhone is 7 years old and not one glitch. I still have 82% battery life. Every year I look and see if anything attracts me but I feel like my old IPhone will last forever.
Similar situation here. Waiting for my 14 Pro Max after mostly 10 years of Android, except for a disappointing trip to Windows Phone where Microsoft blacklisted themselves for me forever by destroying Nokias excellent customer service to a level of scam. Now my first time with iOS, I hope I won't regret it...
I enjoyed my tiles on Windows Phone as well. Too bad it could not gain enough traction as it was a better alternative over both iOS and Android at the time.
Good video mate , i went from being a very long time android boy from the galaxy note 2 era to the dark side when the iphone 12 series released , i bought a 12 pro max , as a first time ever apple user i found the experience terrible ( i liked the hardware but not IOS ), and for the first two months i wanted to run my iphone over with a kenworth ....... seriously ! For me it was probably worse as all my friends are android users , and there was no one to fall back on when the iphone just did not work the same as android in some cases . Anyway , i`m glad i persevered with it , because i have warmed to IOS and love the big iphone , even though there are still things i miss about my android phones. A good thing about iphones is you can still run chrome , and i alternate between apples stuff and chrome and its apps . I do miss some of the old school features my galaxy note 9 has (many of which new galaxys no longer have sadly , headphone jack ,sd card , etc ) , even the weirdness of IOS not being able to turn into landscape in nearly every avenue which we android users just taken for granted which still pisses me off to this day :) , the lack of some basic personalization abilities which we also on android take for granted . But the iphones , even my 12 PM does get a lot of the basic right , great speakers , good performance 99.9 % of the time , a decent camera, pretty decent mating up with other IOS devices ( i also bought an ipad ) , and also i might mention magsafe which i initially thought was a big gimmick , i found it was a really cool feature that just makes life easier in daily life , i love my old galaxy note 9 which no offense to Ultra users is in a lot of ways just not in the same league imo , so i for the foreseeable future i will be staying with the big iphones . There is currently from the big stores ive tried downunder a 4 to 6 week wait for the pro iphone models ( some problem in china Manufacturing apparently ), so sounds like it will be while before my 12 PM gets parked up . On the 14 pro max , i am in camp of preferring the old notch , i dont mind the island function , but the pill being further down into the screen ........ bollocks :) , not a deal breaker though , and it is good apple is very slowly releasing its grip on IOS and getting some android features . Cheers ..
I don't think the way iOS handles notifications is poor UX. In fact, I think it's good UX When the phone is locked, the lock screen will only show NEW notifications unless you swipe up. This means that glancing at your phone won't make you believe you have a new notification when it shows you a 3 days old notificstion On the other hand, when you pull down the notifications screen from the top of yhe screen with the ohone unlocked, it will immediately show you all the notifications that are sitting there, just like on Android
I recently switched from Android to an IPhone 13 Pro Max. I like it so much, I just ordered an Apple watch since my Watch 5 doesn't work with IOS. So far, its been a pleasant transition for me.

Thank you for actually mentioning the lack of a physical sim slot as a "PROBLEM." Many people just don't understand how inconvenient this is when traveling. All US reviewers just simply gloss over it. That was a deal breaker for me.
not an issue in Australia they still have the physcial sim car slot sucks to be in your country.
They still have physical sim everywhere else, except US
Most Americans don’t travel internationally, so the majority don’t understand why physical SIM is a big deal. IMHO Apple removed the tray to prevent cheaper US iPhones from being exported informally to other countries.
US reviewers/Americans don’t even travel outside their country so this doesn’t surprise anyone
Sucks for them
Atleast in Qatar it's not a problem at all. I can move my sim from one device to another without any support within a minute. Never encounter those rare situations which people quote as a problem arising due to esims.
I’ll never understand brand loyalty. You really think Apple, google or Samsung give a crap about the user? Nope, they just want our money.
Actually true

Honestly, Samsung's transfer software makes switching from iOS ridiculously easy. The only real pain point was getting people I know to re-setup their iMessage contacts to use my phone number instead of my iCloud account. Otherwise it's been smooth sailing and loving the new phone. Best decision you could’ve made for sure!
Yes, a smaller pixel pro is what world needs
Pixel 8 will be just that
Pixel Phones Suck! Actually, the last three Android phones I"ve had have all had something wrong with them, but the Pixel takes the cake. Its riddled with bugs and I hate using it. Its uncomfortable to use. I've never considered an iPhone until now.

You can turn on TH-cam picture in picture by going to settings, general, and then toggle it on.
TH-cam is not the only app on Androids that can do picture-in-picture
Why I choose android over I Phone.
1. File Manager/Open File system.
2. File Transfer possiblity
I have a Pixel 7 Pro and I haven't had any issues with connectivity nor the camera, it's literally the best camera on the market.

Lightning cable is a dead end. Apple is an overpriced, anti consumerism, anti repair company, in a closed ecosystem.
I did same thing, is mature enough to cover my needs from android.
I also switched because of that reason, I love the iPhone 14 Pro max
I'm switching soon as well. Just don't see the benefits or innovation from Android anymore. Also the apple watch is arguably the best smart watch.

I was thinking the same
I had never used iphones before and made the switch from a s21 ultra to the 14 pro max and if it weren’t for the one thousand dollars tmobile gave me for my old phone I would have returned it already.
No doubt! What the hell is that with iPhones that trying to open a previous called person automatically dials their number??? 😱🤦

I literally have ONE person in my life still on Android and I took a deep plunge because I got the iPad Air and Apple watch SE so there's (most likely) NO going back now that I'm neck deep in their ecosystem. 🤷🏻♂️
@@cnovalles73 How sad. I'm sorry for your loss.
Same, I went from the iPhone 8+ to the s10+, s20+, s21 u and now the 13 pro. It’s been a fun little process
@@RenoNV775 based from your experience which do you prefer/enjoyed the most?
My last two Samsungs (Note 9 and S21+) both eventually turned me to iOS again. Cameras were the main issue, but lots of other annoyances like third party launchers messing with gesture control, all the samsung app bloat, etc.
Then iOS drove me nuts and I'm finally back in the Pixel fam.
The problem with AirDrop is it's too damn slow for transferring files. I can connect a USB-C cable to my Pixel 7 Pro and PC and transfer my entire phone before AirDrop would transfer two large video files.

I just did the exact same thing, but with the iPhone 14 Pro Max & so far I'm ready pleased that I made the switch!

P30 was basically smartphone peak, everything else till these days (except for the foldables) was pure refinement

The things I'm not a fan of are :
- Lightning cable rather than usb-c, but apparently that's changing with the 15
- Stingy iCloud allowance - you get 5GB free which after your phone backup is on there doesn't leave much room for other stuff.
Things that feel pretty much the same:
Battery life - nothing special on this phone compared to my old one, even with the efficient chip - however it might be down to the fact that this phone is just higher spec
My advise would be to wait for the 15 pro if you can afford it. I'll likely be getting it when it comes out too

Even system apps can be uninstalled using adb, no root needed, i don't know what you do with your phone, if my 200$ budget phone i bought 4 years ago is still alive and kicking, even battery capacity is at around 75% of what i had in the beginning.
Give it a year it will also give out.
Why they not allow you to do that? Sounds like something very simple
Same here.
Can't stand the lag and bugs of android anymore.
I just want consistently good experience.
I use a note 10 plus(2019) And it doesn't lag at all.

Apple knows this, but refused to do anything about it because, at their own admittance, "it would hurt iPhone sales." This statement shows EXACTLY where Apple's priorities reside, and it's not with "security!"
fully agreed, security is just an excuse unfortunately
Tell me what is closed?
@@D3nn1s_NL By "closed" I mean that Apple does not allow you to run their software on anything but Apple devices and Apple related websites. For example, you can't run iMessage on a Windows PC or Chromebook without jumping through 3rd party software hoops. You can't build your own MacBook and install MacOS on it. You can't install iPad OS on any other tablet except a legitimate Apple iPad. You can't install iOS or any Apple apps on any phone other than an iPhone. That is what I mean by "closed" ecosystem.

Thank you for this video. I'm about to make the same leap after a lifetime on Android and I am pretty nervous about it.
Did you already switched? Planning to make the same leap too after my whole life using android😅
Switched also to iOS iPhone 12 enjoying the experience so far 😊
The best part about Apple devices that is rarely mentioned is, resale value. Pay $699 for a brand new iPhone and sell it for $300 3 years later. You can’t beat that value.
I recently bought the Apple Watch which came with an iPhone. I’m planning to switch back to the Galaxy S23U.
Apple Car Play is just horrible. Siri only supports one language, the iOS version on gboard is a nightmare to use. The lack of the edge gestures that are available as an optional app on One UI is really killing it for me.
The only good thing is the Apple Watch.
Yeah I love my apple watch but my iPhone not so much
Interesting transition story; I have had many Apple products over the years, but always use Android phones. The ability control and design my own user interface is so much more rich on Android - the benifit of using iPhones simply isn't there at the moment....

@@dadillonful All right isheep just get lost now!
90% of the time im using a 3rd party app on my android phone. 3rd party apps from the playstore is just not as good from iOS.

- Main camera is very consistent with image quality and shutter speed
@@47crazed android's camera is far better than iphone's and we can download 3rd party apps from other sources as well..Also most of the third party apps are shared between the platforms and play store has more of them. Literally man Android is based on linux kernel..
There's literally nothing that would make me switch to iPhone. Apple in general is a close-minded company only looking for money, without any innovation or customer-centric view. They literally make you use only their products and purposefully make them incompatible with other products or just make the whole process a pain.
It's sad that people are still following them blindly without turning on their brain at all, but oh well. To each their own.
Well said!
I never understood why grown-ass adults praise Android’s customization. Don’t y’all have jobs and lives? I really couldn’t care less about customizing every minor detail about my lock screen and home screen. With iPhone, I just take it out, click the app I want, and start using it.
To put it in perspective with my galaxy note 9 I left the home screen background the stock one it came with for like the first year I had the phone
You can literally do the same on Android. I don't understand why y'all think iPhone is superior in that aspect
Switched to iPhone for 2 weeks and my hands felt tied so I switched back.
I fear the exact same thing. Moving into it is fun but I'd regret it in s few days I guess.
I did the same thing. Switched after 12 yrs with Android. Picked up the 14 Pro Max. No regrets.
Switching to iOS brought peace of mind and less tracking, battery life wasn’t the best on the 2022 SE but all in all I would not go back, I’m still saving for an unlocked boot loader android so I can go back to building my own android( used to do that a lot during the Cyanogenmod days 😅)
Less tracking.
Apple doesn't track at all, we all know that. They just sell your data and track everything you do...

@@lxnd I've never been a fan of Samsung, always had Android phones that run a less modified version of Android and so tend to keep more up to date. iOS now has many of the features of the latest version of Android but also the standardised hardware that means better support for things like photogrammetry and motion capture which are the things I'm interested in learning.
may you find good luck with the iPhone that has lots of customization options and no limitations!
The only iPhone that was ever minimally interesting and compelling was the Mini.
For oversized phones without basic features, there's a ton of Android phones that offer much more compelling experiences.
So and which android do you carry around if you prefer smaller phones ? I find it quite hard to find a flagship phone on the smaller side
lmao its funny you just descriebed me, i have the 12 mini, i tried the 14 pro fro two weeks, took it back. hated the size, the 12 mini has good enough everything for me except battery life and the size is perfect, im looking at getting a sony or pixel 7 pro now to finally go back to android, but like honetsly, the mini iphones are gold.

The pixel 7 has the features that I can really use and it's actually smarter than other phones which was a big plus for me in choosing the pixel.
Same for me. iOS works but
1/ Not a real Always On Display
2/ No Split Screen so no multi-tasking
3/ No Dual App mode to separate Pro and Personnal account for the same app
4/ Back gesture on Iphone is useless contrary on Android
5/ You can't place your icon wherever you want on your homescreen and you can't creat additionnal homescreen easily
6/ No app on both iOS/Windows to connect my iPhone to my Windows Pc

Things went smoothly, i even purchaised airpods pro, which are amazing, and an apple watch which has helped transform my health and reverse a disease i was suffering from. Things I miss: side loading, Google Assistant (I still have it as an app), notifications (got used to apple's, but prefer androids), and alternative browser engines like Chromium (all browsers on iPhone have to use Safari's Webkit which isn't as widlely supported. Overall, I'm happy and plan on sticking with apple for the forseable future.
I didn't know that about Safari. I only use Google chrome on my iphone.
Fantastic video. Exactly what I wanted. I really like iPhone 14 Pro as a phone, it's almost perfect but the whole headache of moving my apps over there and then leaving behind my Google and Chrome integration... I might go with pixel 7.
Using both 14 pro max and pixel 7 pro. Pixel 7 pro beats in a lot ways
I'm using chrome, gmail, google on iphone/ipad. It works perfect. Works almost the same.

Google phones have benefits of both Apple software polished and easy software and android benefits with their own features on top of that

Well let's be honest you're buying 150 dollar android phones. I'm not sure what you expect. Try an older android flagship or even midranger.

On the 14 pro max , i am in camp of preferring the old notch , i dont mind the island function , but the pill being further down into the screen ........ bollocks :) ,
not a deal breaker though , and it is good apple is very slowly releasing its grip on IOS and getting some android features .
Cheers ..
I don't think the way iOS handles notifications is poor UX. In fact, I think it's good UX
When the phone is locked, the lock screen will only show NEW notifications unless you swipe up. This means that glancing at your phone won't make you believe you have a new notification when it shows you a 3 days old notificstion
On the other hand, when you pull down the notifications screen from the top of yhe screen with the ohone unlocked, it will immediately show you all the notifications that are sitting there, just like on Android
